I use to have cake n counter chocolate walnut cake from my school days & lemme tell u the taste is still the some after so many years.. One of the best & oldest places for quality cakes.. But jus one drawback the timings of this store is sad 😐

I've been ordering cakes from here since almost a decade now if I'm not mistaken. Their cakes are always fresh, delicious and filled with richness (walnuts) if you're someone who likes a bit of bitter chocolate and that too in a cake, then you must definitely go for this. The price is slightly higher but i can assure you it's worth every penny. Superb cakes. Well baked and yes less creamy. People who donot like much icing and cream can have these cakes . They are baked ausum. Superb to taste and flafyy. Located on East Street camp this place is not much crowded but they have superb baked cakes . Small shop , less crowd good quality best taste less know.

Extremely simple place..... Devoid of any fancy paper plates and tissue and plastic spoons as they serve you in a melamine plate with steel forks... No refrigerated displays to cool the cakes... No fancy cakes built with gems and perks and chocolate sprinkles... Just a plain chocolate cake... But wow!!... The cake is extremely fresh as the fork glides through it and the first bite makes you realise why this place has the rating that it has!... Not at all sugary like its other counterparts the cake was exactly how a chocolate cake should be!... Loved it

You will never find any cake better than the cakes at cake n counter. It's been one of my favourite places since I was a child. I make sure all of my birthday and celebratory cakes are always from here. One bite and you'll feel like heaven is dancing on your taste buds.

You cannot have cake anywhere else once you have it here. The cake is sooo good ! No other place could give them a competition. The icing is buttery and not like the usual cakes. Hands down the best place in whole of pune for cakes.

I discovered this place some 10 years back and inspite of me staying in Kondhwa with many other good bakeries in vicinity every year on my birthday I just have to get their black forest cake. The cake with its heavy rum essence and just the right amount of sweetness is just phenomenal. I am pretty sure the rest of the stuff is just as good but I have just stuck to this one. Run by an old cute couple the shop timings can be a little odd so best to call up and co-ordinate.

This is one of the oldest standing cake shops in camp. They serve quality and happiness through every cake. Their chocolate walnut cake is so delicious and decadent. The prize winner however, is the pineapple chiffon cake. I happen to be a chocolate lover but even then the pineapple chiffon cake wins. It literally tastes like chiffon and is a must try (they do not serve this variant as a pastry, sadly).

A legendary bakery in Pune selling the best cakes and pastries. They have mastered it and can't go wrong. Limited options, but the best. It's just by default for us to order the black forest cake for any birthday in the family. You got to order 1 day before.<br/>Keep up the yummy work!

It's from the school time I Am having cake from cake n counter so I Am very well familar with the taste. Yesterday I placed order for 2 cakes .- chocolate icing cake , coffee icing cake. Chocolate icing was just amazing... But Thn coffee icing cake was very disappointing no one ate. I decided to call thm the very next day. Informed them about what went wrong in the cake. In return I got a very rude response from the lady saying thr is nothing I can do for it. She said that when I never wanted her to do anything it was a call only to inform her so that nxt time she dsnt provide me with that bad taste. Only she cud show attitude by saying we make cakes from the past 35 yrs.. Now can't anything go wrong in a cake if you make it for 100 yrs or 35 .. Very rude not expected such a response from such a experienced lady.

The Pineapple Cake here is by far, hands down the best fresh cream cake I have ever eaten in my life. Its light, spongy and delightfully tasty. I have actually finished an entire 1/2 kg cake on my own in one sitting! The Chocolate Walnut cake is also worth a notable mention, though it is a bit dark and thus depends on your taste. If you are ever in Pune, this is one of the Must Go places.

My Childhood memories are filled with cakes from the best cake shop in the camp area - Cake n counter. The chocolate cake with walnuts and seedless cherries for garnishing :-) yum. Still remember the taste. The chocolate cake is always fresh, moist and dense - none of the cheap cream is used in the cake. They have the best egg chocolate cakes in Pune. And the best part is I've been having their cakes since almost 20 years now and the quality and taste has been maintained :-) kudos to them!

Cake N Counter takes me straight back to my childhood in a particularly nostalgic and reminiscent way. The first cake I can ever remember eating was their Sponge Cake with Chocolate Icing and Walnuts and I still go back to indulge in a slice every now and then. The quality and taste has remained exactly the same. One of the few places in Poona that still retains its old charm.

Cake n Counter is one of those places that gets me nostalgic about how Pune used to be in the 90s<br/>Been enjoying their cakes since my childhood days. Their quality hasn't changed one bit over the years.<br/><br/>Even though they have unusual operating hours and are usually closed when you need them the most, its bliss when you manage to get a cake from them. <br/><br/>Try their Chocolate Cake, I guarantee you'll never even look at a Monginis again.<br/>

Hands down the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten, and I don't impress too easily when it comes to confectionary (or any other food for that matter). It is delicious, dark, soft, decadent and most importanly, not too sweet. It's just right! My folks would get it as birthday cake when i was a child. It has ever since been a favourite. It's quality has been maintained exceptionally for all these years. No other bakery or cake shop comes close to Cake N Counter. The man who runs it is really cheerful, too! :) Well done. The oldest cake shop in pune and the best! It's best seller chocolate walnut cake. This cake has a distinctive taste in the sponge as well as in the icing! It's different and not comparable to any other cake shops in pune. Period! It's worth every penny and satiates all your sugar cravings.

At one point in Pune, we only had a choice between Bakers Basket and Cake & Counter. Cake and counter has been the same over the last 30 years we ve been visiting, same owners, same location, even the same interiors. If you have been in Pune all your life, a visit to cake and counter brings back memories. The thick layer of chocolate, and the sponge. Back in the day, this was the only cake you could buy and carry it out of town if you were from a place like panchgani or lonavala. I swear their quality and taste has nt changed, and I am so happy for that. You have to try this place, and go there without any expectations. The first bite will transport you to another place, a finer place.....They have been giving the samething to generations of Punekars, and I hope many more generations get to taste this bit of history...

You will get the BEST and I mean it the BEST chocolate cake here. It is a small simple place, operated by a really sweet elderly couple. They make just a few so you need to be on time. The pineapple cake is great too. Very sinful and heavy and you will surely keep coming back.

Very old patisserie. The taste is the same from day 1. The chocolate cake is all time fav. But I like the pineapple here its unique unlike choc which you get everywhere. The flavour is actually vanilla with pineapple pieces. The cake inside is plain sponge and juicy. It's superb. <br/>Suggest to place an order for pineapple. Choc is ready mostly

They have a very limited selection of cakes but they are the best. They have just 1 type of a chocolate cake but it is the best chocolate with a traditional recipe but it's just too yummy. U can't compare it to the chocolate cakes u get in bakery's now days. When in Pune and craving for a nice chocolate cake Cake n Counter chocolate cake is always on my mind it's worth all the calories.

A lot of us living around Camp area would ahve grown up with Cake n Counter cakes - a very homely set up, with no major fanfare. They have the most basic cakes -yet perhaps one of the best. They have a standard chocolate cake in their display -with icing. This isn't a usual chocolate cream cake -and that's why its rich and heavy -and maybe that's the reason why a lot of people love it -its different. However, you have to try their black forst and pineapple cake (only on order) -they are the best in Pune.I woke up with pregnancy craving for a "Cake n Conter black forest cake the other day -and was so glad I could order it immediately and get it  -its heavenly - the sponge and cream layer is proportionate -and thick. Cherries layered inside the cake are generous. The cream is just different -not the usual bland stuff. The cake just melts in your mouth .My husband had the cake for the first time and said -"I always wondered what's the fuss about a black forest cake? I always preferred a  chocolate cake -until I had the black forest from Cake n Counter".

To be very precise, the one you get here, is amongst 'two' of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. Other being the one baked by 'Cake Lady' in Darjeeling, who isn't operating any more. If you're craving for chocolate cake, this is the best option you have. None of the other cake places in town come even close. Looking forward to having their Pineapple Cake some time soon. Apparently, this is one of the most underrated places and it's surprising that such few people are aware of it, despite being so good. Note that if you're visiting for the first time, you're likely to have a tough time locating it; however, it's completely worth the time and effort.

There aren't enough words to describe just how great this place is. I've loved their chocolate cake (with and without walnuts) since I was a kid, and try and get some every time I visit Pune (tip: if you find the chocolate cake too dark (as if there's such a thing as too dark!) try the vanilla sponge with chocolate icing. Just as delicious, but less chocolatey). What's really to die for is their pineapple cake, which is quite easily the best version of this dessert I've had anywhere. Made with real whipped cream (instead of the no-taste, soy stuff they use nowadays) and with the lightest sponge imaginable, there isn't an occasion that cannot be made brighter with this cake.

I don't think I need fifty words for this review but here goes. Simply, unquestionably and quite unanimously, I might add, the best chocolate cakes in Pune thus far. It's been years that every birthday and Christmas invariably sees me visit this place for a pick-up. The texture of the chocolate, the base, the walnuts and the cherries just lend this cake a level of elegance unmatched by many others in the industry and many new challengers as well. Let's hope it stays just as it is, because we wouldn't have it any other way.<br/>Note: This is more of a cake review than a place review.

cake and counters is a place to live the nostalgia, have been going there since 2000 n if we got hands on a pastry it used to be lucky day indeed. When we didn't get parties, I had myself finished entire cake on several occasions<br/><br/>Back in the day there were very few bakeries around n this small place run by a lovely couple made only 48 parties half full chocolate walnut n half chocolate sponge, n few standard square chocolate walnut cakes to sell off the counter, rest all made to order, they used to close down during afternoons n they still do like old Puneri fashion<br/><br/>N those pastries were sold at lightening fast speed.... Today it might not happen every day<br/><br/>Now there are so many professionally run bakeries with globally trained chefs that c&c might not be tough competition, but their taste has not changed a bit n that is perfection<br/><br/>They are very important part of Pune's culinary history, go there not for wide menu or numerous options with global flavors, but go there for tasting a good n rich home made cake that has been an inspiration forcurrent generation of bakers who grew up eating these legendary pastries n cakes

It was my birthday and usually our blind choice for cake is Bliss (at Nibm). But being a zomato believer, i went for checking other options. Found C & C to be so loudly praised that i didnt give a second thought. Such insane ratings! Picked up the phone and ordered. Only to be disappointed at midnight :(<br/><br/>Ambiance : A shop very easy to miss, its on the connecting road between East street and M.G. Road (beside 1000 Oaks).<br/>Its a small cute shop, nothing fancy or glamorous, has few chairs put up on sides. No noise except an elderly couple chit chatting the day away and thus their unusual shop timings : 10.30 to 1.30 and 3 to 7pm. And only half day on sundays! You may spot few cakes in the age old glass shelves dividing the shop between owners and visitors. No fancy stuff here either. Normal square cakes. Thats it! No heart shape, no ribbons & dolls, no rainbow colors. <br/><br/>Experience : Aunty ji took my order on phone and uncle very nicely gave me directions to his shop when i called for pick up. I told them how celebrated they are over Zomato and they just smiled. Uncle said, "Is it? I dont think i have heard about such a website!" With a gentle smile, he humbly put away all the accolades that i passed over from zomato reviewers. Had not even tasted their cake till now and i already started believing "this is going to be the best cake i ever had!" Cost was same as other upmarket places. 350 for 1 pound.<br/><br/>Taste : When we finally ate it, gush came down the expectations. The cake was marble like textured : could feel the coarseness of ground sugar, sponge was harder than acceptable, the chocolate wasnt melting in mouth and was bit too rich. The icing was so average that it was comparable to cakes available in normal bakeries around the corner. The taste wasnt pleasing at all! One bite and we could feel the heaviness. 5 of us couldnt finish 1 pound cake which is unusual amongst our gang. The order was for chocolate walnut. Except for the generous amount of walnuts, i didnt find anything worth the price or hype. I so dearly wish that it was just an unlucky experience and isnt the case in general. Such an experience should not happen with anyone on their special occasions, specially when celebrated with near & dear ones (for office, its fine ;) However, i dont think i will take a chance again. I have been so extremely happy with Bliss and few times Crems & Crusts over years that I doubt going back. Probably will try a pastry someday to check if it was just a bad day or bad luck. <br/><br/>Am sure, their sincere followers may growl at me over this. But that honestly was the experience. Somehow am feeling unfortunate for such an encounter. I dont wish to doubt such a celebrated cake manufacturer with such a long history to back their quality and taste. So would still say "Please give it a shot! They really may be among the top in Pune and may be its just that our expectations were insanely high".

There is no point writing a review here as no words can match up to the standard of the cakes you get here. No doubt the best chocolate , Black Forest and pineapple cake in the world where one can actually taste the genuine interest and devotion into baking unlike today's commercially available cakes. You have to order a cake here If you want the real deal , taste and flavour and not random sugar coated maida that you get in other places. Any occasion at home, cake has to be from Cake and counter. they are famous for chocolate cakes but I usually find their chocolate cakes a tad too rich. However what I have fallen in love with is their pineapple cake. I think they make the best pineapple cake I have ever tasted. Their Black forest cake is also great. They make their cakes fresh on order and their cakes are not made with rich cream/non dairy cream that all bakeries use today which is white in colour. they used freshly whipped dairy cream which off white and make their cakes worth dying for. I can never keep their cakes in the refrigerator for more than a few hours. finger lickingly good.

I have had cakes from Cake N counter since I was a kid! They are my utmost favorite. They dont have a variety on flavors for cakes they specialize in Chocolate cakes. But believe me, it is the best chocolate cake in the world! They have full chocolate and sponge chocolate cakes. But they are yummmmmmmm... Some years ago when Amul Butter was in shortage, they asked customers to get their own butter and subtracted it's costs on the price of the cake.<br/>I have childhood memories fighting for corner slices and sugar roses and licking the green iced leaves from the four corners of party cakes - off the shelf, they're decorated with halved walnuts and cherries.<br/><br/>Their other offerings - Black Forest and Pineapple Cake are also worth a try.<br/>They've stopped doing shaped Birthday cakes unfortunately, and are known to randomly put a blackboard announcing closure of the shop for upto a month while they take time off to tour the world.
