Review The Deccan Epicure - Pune

mubashir quadri
5 star not just for the food... 5 stars to kevin who served with awesome vigor and excitement.. It was awesome to see him interact so well with customers while handling the service all by himself and making sure he had an attention to every miniscule detail. Make this place famous people, cos epicure is here to stay!! Awesome lunch 1) chicken steak 2) pork ribs 3) lettuce wrap(omelet, bacon, roasted chicken and chilli jam, with sriracha sauce) and coleslaw as side.

This link is a really cool place and the owner is very friendly. The food is very unique and have a flayer of its own, like Wada hot dog - Wada pav in the style of hot dog, should try this one. Mushroom soup was very good. Corn cheese fritters was really an unique dish. Spaghetti carbonara was a bit too heavy, full of cheese. In deserts, Duo of Chocolate Mousse and Saffron and Vanilla Pannacotta were very good and should be tried. Not a very spacious place so it's better to visit in small groups.

Great food. Amazing staff (one man does it all with great poise and ease).

Tried it the first time around and the menu itself is to die for. For the hardcore foodie meat eaters u have pork ribs, pork chops, lamb and chiken steak to choose from. The menu boasts of a variety of steaks and burgers. If you are looking for Authentic centeal european, continental cuisines u are going to love this place. The portion sizes however are mostly dissapointing. Fine dining in general is expensive but portions are expected to be just right if not huge. The quantity here is less even for their large dishes and the small portions are tiny!

The honey glazed pork is to die for ! Get there and ask David Selvam what's special. He's the man !

A new favourite! It isn't hard to tell that they have some of the best trained chefs in the kitchen! The ambience is simple yet very appealing. The staff (owner) is super friendly and very efficient. The food is exquisite and the seasoning to everything was absolutely spot on! The slight heaviness on the pocket is worth every bite!
Highly recommended: Barbecue Chicken Wings, Chicken Steak, Chicken and Mushroom Lasagne

Went there last night for dinner and I think it's safer to say that I've found my new favourite.

Located right next to the ever to bustling Irani cafe, this place is quite there contrary. Simple, cosy and quite the great hospitality of the staff and manager adds more to its charm. It gives you the home feels without taking away from the charm of enjoying a meal out.

The best part is undoubtedly the FOOOD. so so good.

We had the spaghetti carbonara and the honey braised pork ribs.

The pork ribs were soo well cooked and soo tender they literally melted in our mouths. We far as the spaghetti was concerned it was rich creamy and full of the right flavours.

For desserts we had the chocolate souffle and just like the mains it didn't disappoint. It was freshly baked and left us wanting for more.

This place is definitely our new favourite.
Going there on the weekend again soon :D

This write up comes a month late but as I always believe, better late than never, more so, if the write up is well deserved. The choice for our monthly AGOG meet up, for the month of February was, The Deccan Epicure. We had been hearing marvellous things about this restaurant so what better way to check it out than with my beautifully angelic gang of gals.

The Deccan Epicure is a tiny, yet pleasant restaurant in a by-lane at Viman Nagar. The kitchen is based on the ground floor and the customers are seated on the mezzanine floor. I have bad arthritic knees hence was a tad unsure about the stairs I would have to climb. For any of you, who have troubled knees; let me assure you the stairs are safe and easily climbable so don’t let that stop you from visiting this eatery.

Food: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Ambiance: 3/5

This little exotic restaraunt is a little out of sight, but do not be mistaken; this restaraunt has great and delightful food and some of the best dishes availble in the area. If looking for some great food you must visit here. We tried cream of mushroom chicken soup and a portion of chicken steak - both highly recommended dishes. Ambience is also highly welcoming, just sitting beside the irani cafe in the area.

Great if you want to try different cuisines. Double decker place, which has capacity to host several people simultaneously. The sea food was delicious here; one can definitely give it a try. The veg items are not boring either.

There were a lot of fun things that took place at DE but this review will only be about the food. This is also a perfect place for ketogenic diet lovers. They will prepare certain keto food for you if you notify them a day or two in advance. They make keto cakes too but it might be a little heavy on your pocket but it will be worth the taste.Ordered for Orange glazed pork ribs. 4/5Bullet proof coffee: 3/5fish and chips: 4.5 since my friend really liked it shepherd's pie: 4panacotta: 5ambiance is very cozy. Kevin and the Abhishek were a very good host. :) will be back here real soon.

Had ordered food from this restaurant. Pork pie and chicken lasagne was pretty awesome and the best part is - they were 'ketogenic' diet friendly. A bit costly however they get the edge because of customized preparation. I found it to be a pleasant experience.

This family run restaurant is located in the lane that leads to rosary school in Vimannagar with just sufficient parking if you arrive on a bike. We had booked a table and were on time. Dining is on the top floor with a descent layout with soft music. For starters we summoned the Balsamic vinegar & red wine poached pear salad, Onion blossom and fish& chips. The red wine was overpowering the dish and the overall combination was not what we liked. Fish & chips was the usual but Onion blossom was a total failed attempt as it is a bland dish which should be off the menu. Full marks for the chicken and mushroom lasagna which was superbly prepared. The Saffron & Vanilla pannacotta with orange syrup made our visit worthwhile...Just awesome! So choose some good dishes and this place will be worth a visit each time.

Simply Mouthwatering.... Provides everything what ur tastebuds cud ask for... Pork belly is simply out of this world... hoping to visit this place more frequently....

Went for a late lunch to The Deccan Epicure. Was greeted by the owner and the staff with smiles. Sat upstairs. Ambiance is basic but good. I ordered chicken steak with mashed potatoes. Chicken and sauce were good but mashed potatoes could have been better. Having said that the staff behaviour is what will stay with me for a long time. Recommended.

I was literally yearning to visit The Deccan Epicure after reading those rave reviews all over and hearing first hand stories of culinary excellence. So, here's my recent dinner experience in brief.

The service is prompt and the staff is on the tip of their toes. I loved how the Chef is so personally involved with his customers and not just a man behind the scenes. Scope for customising your order is plenty, so whether you are the "healthy' kind or the more 'greedy kind' - they can get pretty close to what you desire.

Few of the dishes were extraordinary while some didn't live upto my expectations. Will be going back for the new found favorites though!

1. Chicken & Mushroom Lasagna (5/5)
Frankly, this exceeded my expectations and was scrumptious to the core. The creamy mushroom base with minced chicken makes this lasagna uncomparable - simply like no other. You just cant miss this dish when you're here.

2. Spiced Lamb Sandwich (5/5)
I left the choice of toppings to their discretion and I am so glad of my decision. The one who prepares the food, knows best. Caramelised onions on the base of the panini with bbq sauce was incredible. Its a very filling portion and not just a snack! You have to try those 'sweet potato' fries, such a unique taste. Loved it.

3. Grilled Chicken with Veggies (3/5)
The previous two dishes had given me such a high that my expectations from the rest of the meal skyrocketed. This dish was very average, nothing exceptional - just about satisfactory.

4. Crispy Lotus Stems (2.5/5)
A sweet n sour preparation of fried lotus stems. This also didn't click with me.

5. Corn Cheese Fritters (3/5)
A very cheesy attempt, cheesy enough to drown the corn flavour. If cheese works for you, you will love this. A good option for vegetarians.

6. Wada Hot Dog (3/5)
A plus one for the creative thought behind presenting the snack-on-the-go so in such an exotic manner. Truly the mind of a genius. so Kudos! Taste wise, it was a lot like your wada, just healthier.

7. Roast Chicken & Chilli Jam Burger (2.5/5)
Not a very pleasant surprise. The patty made of minced chicken with that chilli jam combination made it hard to believe that this was a non vegetarian option. The insides of the burger tasted so much like coleslaw that the meat just couldn't be felt.

8. Pan Seared Tilapia (4/5)
Loved the crunchiness of the fish. The topping on the crust had the perfect zing which just vents your tastebuds. A Must Try.

9. Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnut Crunch (2.5/5)
Again a slight let down. The mousse wasn't dark and had more of that sweet chocolate hint. Loved the base of the cheesecake however, very crunchy. If you are a dark chocolate lover, skip this.

Went for lunch today. Ordered-
1) Fish n Chips
2) Chicken steak
3) Pork Chops

Thin and crunchy chips with crisp fish set the mood.
Chicken steak wasn't sweet and just the way, we want.
Pork chops served with Barley and Apple was the show stopper.

Food - Amazing
Service - good
Ambience - relaxed and cozy

Well.. sorry for the late review.. I went to Deccan Epicure on my wife's birthday. This place is right next to her office. The menu is phenomenal. Kevin and the entire staff is amazing with the customer, they will make you feel right at home. The chef was very informative when we inquired about couple of dishes. Coming to the food, let me start with the produce. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced, i think that amazing for the community, the dishes we ordered were Lamb Shepherds Pie, Pork belly with Lentils, Chicken Tagine and Panacotta.
First of all there was nothing wrong with the food , but if i have to be overtly critical about it then here it goes. I believe the Lamb Shepherd's pie was a little too acidic, also the mash could have been strained through a sieve to make it creamier. Would have loved to have the cracklings with the pork belly but alas.. also the lentils were not required, if its a textural thing then the crackling could have done the job. Missed the preserved lemon in the Chicken Tagine also it would have been a show stopper if it was served in a Tagine (Clay Pot) along with some cous cous. Well tried really hard but couldn't say anything about the panacotta, it was perfect.
Thanks guys for the memorable dinner, hope to be back soon for more tasting..

Pranjal Chakraborty
9007057887

Nice place with a very nice staff. Now the reason why i thought of writing a review for this restaurant is because it has something unique. They give you an option of turning specific dishes from the menu to keto friendly! Its a treat for all those health freaks who are bored of having the same old diet food.

After a long time have found a restaurant which has compelled me to write a review..!!
Have been to this place many times with my office colleagues and each time the owner and the staff have delivered on their promise of quality and taste.
From the small plate special of soy ginger ribs to larger plate carbonara and lasagne have left me in a state of bliss
The absolutely must try are the desserts...!! You just can't miss them..!! I am not a person with sweet tooth but this place has turned me into one..!!
Kudos to all people who have worked hard to deliver quality time on time..!!

I stumbled across Deccan Epicure while looking for a nice, but not too pricey place to dine in at VN, which is hard to come by- and since that fateful night, this place has become one of my favourite restaurants in Pune. From the orange and honey glazed pork ribs to the panacotta, from the spaghetti carbonara to the blueberry curd pavlova- almost everything on the menu is cooked to PERFECTION! The owner of the place is an extremely pleasant guy, who never fails to enquire about the quality of the dish or suggest options when you're unsure of what to order. He's always smiling and his enthusiasm is infectious! The place is very nicely done, tasteful interiors which give off a very homely vibe.

A must try for everyone wanting to go out on a nice, fancy meal within an average budget!

One of the very few places in Viman Nagar to serve GOOD food. I am not much into writing reviews but you guys deserve an appreciation. The Taste, Quality, Presentation and not to forget, the host (also the owner), all of it just blends in well... Its all about a great experience you see.. Fantastic place.. Will revisit.. :)

The Deccan Epicure has garnished a good fan following in a very limited period. The place has good ambience, excellent food and cooperative staff. Going to this place once isn't enough and one might feel like going here again and again.

There are many restaurants in Pune you can choose when you decide to go out for a bite. Pune is evolving into a City which is now open to international cusine. This place is the something that is representing this evolution.
I was on my way for a cup of tea to Irani cafe when I came across small place. I started with a glass of water which is served in a tilted glass, I was amused. When I opened the menu, I saw confusion, from Deccan misal to shepherds pie. I thought, what should I order?
I started with a cup of black coffee, which was again served in a amusing cup which I never came across to. But it was functional and the coffee was perfectly brewed, served at right temperature and surprisingly only for 60 bucks including taxes. The one of decent cup black coffee I had in Pune.
I ordered Deccan Misal and Pork chop as it was recommended in some previous reviews.
Food was served while I was having my coffee, which was pretty quick.
Pork was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. The sauce on it was decent too. Apples where the sides which were caramelized and had a nice crunch.
It was also served with herded rice. I am not a big fan of rice as a side but I can't complain as it was nicely seasoned. I would have preferred some roasted vegetables or even a mash.
Misal was plated like a fine dining thing. It was again amusing, but not the best I had. I like my misal bit on thr hotter side.
Didn't had time to have desserts, but I will come again and try them. I also had a chance to talk with their staff who wanted to know about my experience.
A decent meal for 2 came to around 800 which is very reasonable.
This restaurant is something that Pune deserves and I am sure they will evolve if we the customers give them a chance to. I will definitely return to try other things.
This is one of my favorite place in Viman Nagar.
Right from barbecue wings to Chicken steak to pannacotta everything is so satisfying.
I came here with a friend who actually hates continental but after eating a meal at Deccan Epicure he was fan of this place.
We started with onion blossoms and barbecue wings both were good.
Then comes the Chicken steak ( I preferred this over lamp shepheard's pie) if was presented very beautifully.
Very creamy mashed potato. Post eating all the starters and mains we decided to go for the best part.
My friend is not a big fan of desert and he informed that he is full and will only taste the desert.

Then comes panna cotta and chocolate mousse. Both were presented beautifully and my friend was excited to eat it and he end up finishing both the desert.

We went there for lunch to celebrate a friends birthday & we all enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Being a vegetarian I had the Forage through the Deccan which was a delightful medley of Ragi crepes, papad & greens. I like to eat things I have not eaten before & which I don't cook at home. I enjoyed this more than their Spaghetti dish which I found a little dry. Loved the Ginger lemon fizz which had a good kick of ginger & fell in love with the Saffron panacotta. Also appreciate that service charge was not included.

Small, cozy restaurant in Viman Nagar.

Randomly selected this restaurant by looking at Pork option in menu and it was not a disappointment.

We ordered:

Orange & Honey Pork ribs - It was perfect meal starter, pork was tender, juicy, we ordered small plate.

Lamb shepherd's pie - Good quantity, better to order extra Garlic bread.

Barbeque chicken wings - Juicy, yummy, well cooked chicken.

Potato wedges - Wedges with feel was as usual tasty serving the purpose.

Overall satisfied with the food and service.

They have wide verity of menu, and they keep updating the menu every quarter which is good.
Planning to visit again for English Breakfast and Fish & Chips.

It's a nice small place in viman nagar and judging from the looks of it you will never be able to guess how good the place is. Loved the food here, specially the pasta. Not too heavy on the pocket either.

Ambience of this place is really amazing subtle and peaceful. The menu is limited but the best that can be offered. The fries were crisp just the way you would like it. Bbq chicken wings were delicious. I even ordered Chicken Lasagna which was just perfect for me , not much tangy nor too cheesy . Just a blend of both. A really good place to have continental food .I loved their way of presenting food not much over the top yet unique. The pricing is good. Its a peaceful place to be at. You can hop in with your family or friends. I would like to mention the water glasses are super cool. The service is good. The staff is super friendly. Keep it up guys👍🏻

My personal experience was not so good !
I went there around 7.30 PM with a group of 15 people for a friend's party(reviews read here, lead me to the place).

Service was very slow and most of lost our appetite.
Taste, barring some dishes was not so good.

So for the people, specifically surviving on veg food, this may not be a good choice.

Overrated/underrated : one has to decide for him/her self.... for me all I can say that I visited Irani cafe (adjacent to Deccan Epicure) a lot of times and if wasn't for the reviews here then I wouldn't have been to this place, thanks to some wonderful people who introduced this place to me..loved each and every thing I ate here, the chicken steak, the chicken lasagna, fresh home made breads etc...well I have found my European styled cafe which serves amazing food that I can eat almost every day..

Overrated and too pricey, what now? This place is by a very huge margin, the finest fine dining experience offered in Viman Nagar. For starters, the orange and honey pork ribs (though meagre in quantity) are the perfect headstart for any meal. We also tried the fish and chips that are presented with real elan and the tartar sauce is beyond brilliant. For mains, the Aglio olio spaghetti was sufficiently good however it won't leave you much room for other courses. The chicken steak with the red wine sauce spells perfection, the steak was not too tender or too hard and the sauce was waaay too palatable. to end, I strongly recommend the kesari ghevar with paan semifreddo for people with a fondness for the taste of paan which was perfectly imprinted in the semifreddo. The safron panacota was quite good too. Also , if you're visiting the place around Christmas, order their specials, we had three of the Roast chicken and chilli tarts and needless to say, we weren't disappointed.
This place is going down as one of my favourites. Great, great job guys :)

Just had soup and garlic bread. Real good soup. Bread was OK. Service was good and speedy. Host was nice. Overall experience was great. Good place for quick bites

We went for this restaurant going by the ratings and guys PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE.
We ordered Spaghetti Aglio Olio and Lasagne.
The spaghetti has to be the worst one I ever had.
VinKWar
Small but nice place with good food. Spaghetti carbonara was really flavorful with crispy garlic bread. Pulled pork sandwich wasn't up to my expectation. Thought it was tender and tasted good, felt like it was chopped that cooked till falling apart.
Very friendly and passionate management. Staff needs some training on menu/dishes.

Overall experience... Good. Will visit again.
Rohit Lalwani
Beautifully designed restaurant and good menu however, their staff is not well trained and lack the knowledge on the menu and service. Try lasagne here and garlic bread which is very crispy.
Piyush
Menu executed to perfection.

Ordered the following items:

1) Minestronie Soup-
Tomato based soup served in a uniquely shaped bowl. Very nice taste. Portion size was satisfactory as well.

2) Onion Blossoms-
Something like an onion pakoda but better tasting served with siracha mayo.

3) Bel Pepper & Beans Quesadilla-
Bit spicy for our taste buds but was really appetizing. Tomato salsa is the best i have had yet.

4) Chicken Steak-
Perfectly grilled. Served on mashed potato, red wine sayce and some Veggies. Its a Must try.
Will surely visit often. Keep up the good work.

This is simply one of the best restaurants in Pune for lunch. The food is through the bench great. They only thing they could improve is the style of their menus, as it does not look very appealing.

Awesome place to visit food is really good specially the rissoto and the chocolate fondant which make your mood very good the place is very nice and cozy and chill ,the service is really good and very nicely they explain about the list in the menu if you don't get it..

Went here for the first time today .
The mushroom chicken lasagne was made to perfection . The bean quesadilla was surprisingly one of the best vegetarian dishes . Must try the crispy lotus stem.
This Sure made to my 'Go- restaurants ' in Pune.

A small outlet with pretty ambience with interesting decoratives. The food was tasty. The chicken and mushroom Lasagne is a must try.
Very much different then standard italian restaurant.

A small and cozy place tucked away in a quiet lane in Viman Nagar, The Deccan Epicure is the place to go to, when you crave deliciously cooked fancy food which are easy on the pocket! We ordered 'Salt and Pepper Squid' and 'Orange and Honey Pork Ribs' and the latter just blew our mind away. Next, we ordered 'Barbeque Pork Chops' and 'Pan Seared Tilapia in Bell Pepper Sauce' and I honestly, can't decide which one was better. The barbeque pork chops were accompanied by juicy apple slices and the tilapia had a nice little crunch on the outside. Everything was so perfectly cooked, with the right softness and with the right amount of flavour. Loved it. Shashwat Shrivastav TheDeccanEpicure

A small restaurant with a good ambiance in a lane in Viman Nagar, but it has some huge surprises to offer. The food is very tasty. The chicken- mushroom lasagne, Butter prawns risotto and Saffron Vanilla Pannacotta and Pavlova with Blueberry Curd were very delicious. The service is very good and the manager was very courteous. Will be visiting this place again soon!

My new go to place for good yet fancy food!
Though the spot these guys have isn't spreadout, but the service is just spot on :)
Food choices are kinda limited here. Wish there were some nonveg salads.
Check this place out guys. You won't be disappointed. Finding a seat here might become little difficult, but definitely definitely try it out!

After hearing a lot about this place from peo, zomato and also from few of my foodie friends decided to visit for lunch along with the same foodie frnds, we ordered
chicken steak cooked in red wine - was so bland, no taste at all, not sure whether it is supposed to be for our taste buds
orange and honey glazed pork - quantity was reduced according to my frnds and it was very sticky, frnds did not like this time who appreciated it in previous visit,
fish and chips - no chips but french fry(that's ok), but the taste was good
Tagine chicken - horrible, gravy was full of capsicum and nothing else, did not like it at all
Guava and chilli pudding - though liked the taste somewhat but it was not at all pudding but a milkshake
Pavlova- was good, tried something new
Vanilla and saffron panacotta- liked it but could be better I felt

We were very much disappointed and sad from my experience considering all the good reviews of this place
Did we go on a wrong day ?

Great food. My favorite - The Sea Salt Caramel and Chocolate Bar. No matter how full you're after the starters and main it just has to end with one of these :)

Me and my wife had recently visited VIMAN NAGAR. We thought of accomplishing our dinner at a good restaurant nearby and that was when we stumbled across THE DECCAN EPICURE. And, believe me, I am really, really glad that we did - we had a fantastic dining experience, to say the least !!! 👍

1. AMBIENCE - Elegant and stylish; a 3.5, out of a total of 5 !!!

2. CLEANLINESS - Good; a 3.5, out of a total of 5 !!!

3. However, they should be more attentive towards the needs and requirements of their guests/customers.

My rating of a 3.5, out of a total of 5, for the staff members !!!

5. FOOD & BEVERAGES: -
☆ TASTE - Awesome !!!
☆ QUALITY - Great !!!
☆ QUANTITY - This was one of the main areas of concern to me. They do not serve in sufficient quantity at all.
☆ PRESENTATION - Quite impressive; however, there is no harm in trying to constantly improve !!!
☆ PRICE - Costly restaurant; you need to spend bucks over here and that's for sure !!!

My rating of a 3.75, out of a total of 5, for the food and beverages which we had thoroughly enjoyed having at THE DECCAN EPICURE !!!

RECOMMENDED TO OTHERS ???
A loud 'YES' of course !!! My second time to this place and I'm so glad they're on Zomato so that I can write a review. I love the food, the vibe, the people here. It's a really nice warm place and the food is awesome ! Try their Chicken lasagna, it's made in-house. The Roast Chicken and Chilli Jam sandwich is yumm! It's a place you feel at home. My mum loved this place too!

As am on a keto diet , I usually try finding places which serve tandoori veggie starters or salads , being a vegetarian am a little stuck for options , read on fb that these guys will whip up food that's keto friendly and so me and hubby landed up here ....
The owner Kevin was extremely friendly and passionate about his food and his restaurant and he's willing to talk to you about his journey ,the people hes so proud of, the menu and it was such a pleasure speaking to him coz he genuinely seemed interested in giving people a fab food experience.
We ordered the bullet proof coffee, black with a shot of butter in it ..a Greek salad with feta cheese for me and lamb sliders wrapped in lettuce for my husband ..
The food was fresh and delicious and the coffee hot the right spot.
I just wish that the portion sizes were a bit bigger but am not complaining as the original idea was to keep this place a fine dining restaurant so I get the idea behind the smaller portions.
The ambience is nice and warm and friendly, downstairs you have bar style tables with some books or you sit watching the kitchen staff work their magic or talk to the owners as we did ...
Upstairs they have more formal seating but we never did see it...
It was a wonderful quick evening meal and one that we really enjoyed and cherished ..
Good job guys , keep up the good work

This restaurant was quite surprisingly good! It's a wonder it hasn't been in the buzz before. It is right next to the Irani Cafe in Viman Nagar.
The food we ordered was the Quesedillas and the Chicken Mushroom Lasagna. The food was super filling and yummy. If you're a chicken and mushroom lover, definitely try the lasagna.
Heard a lot about this place's desserts and tried the Sea Salt Caramel chocolate bar. That was really tasty too, but became a little too salty towards the end.

Really friendly service! The menu is a little restrictive, that's the only issue. Will definitely be visiting again for more desserts!

Saturday father daughter lunches are absolutely sacred and hence the food must be nothing short of outstanding. I can honestly say that The Deccan Epicure has that covered. Tucked away in one of the many lanes of Viman Nagar, this place is one of my new favourites. The ambiance , the staff , the menu ...was all just what you needed for a fun meal. The butter garlic prawn topped deccan risotto was delicious. The prawns cooked to perfection with a tiny bit of crunch in them , the risotto flavourful yet not clumpy and the dollop of mascarpone cheese on top just sent you over the edge. Next came the BBQ pulled pork burger with a side of fries accompanied with sriracha mayo. This dish was my absolute favourite. The pork tender, juicy and loaded with BBQ sauce. The bun soft and warm, you could definitely tell the bread was fresh. My weakness is any dish with good pork and this place clearly had all the boxes ticked. The fries well seasoned and crispy went perfectly with the sriracha mayo. For dessert we ordered the French toast, which was light and fluffy. It didn't taste eggy like French toast normal does. But what I really loved about the dish was the honeycomb butter they served with it. Totally knocked it out of the park! Love this place and the servers were friendly , efficient and extremely polite.
All in all , can't wait to head back there with my new list of everything else I want to try from their amazing and extensive menu.

Hey from EL The Cook!

We review, locally inspired, international cuisine presented by The Deccan Epicure, Pune. The restaurant located in a peaceful by-lane of the bustling Viman-nagar, is a welcome refreshment.

The owner Kevin is a vivid restauranter, with experience in the hospitality sector in Australia! Head-Chef, David, the local boy, has exemplary food knowledge and loves to push the boundaries of local cuisine!

Clean and crisp interiors are only accentuated by the large, modern kitchen. Ambient lighting helps your food experience even more!

1) FORAGE THROUGH THE DECCAN

Foraging through the Deccan, is a spectacular dish, visually. Chef David, explores ingredients famous along the deccan plateau. Colors accentuate the plate with the burgundy of the amaranth leaves interlaced with pearly white of the cheese and topped with the fresh green of the sorrel.

Like a walk in the forests of the western ghats, this dish, leaves your palette astounded with the depth of flavor. The wholesome ragi pancakes, stuffed with cheese and fenugreek leaves are complimented wonderfully by the luscious balsamic glaze.

The dish adds a hint of theater with its crisp amaranth leaves and mild tang of the green sorrel.

A lovely organic blend of flavors, supremely executed on the plate!

2) WILD MUSHROOM SOUP WITH TRUFFLE OIL

The local mushrooms available along the Western Ghats, offer and almost unexplored variety of flavors. The Deccan Epicure makes full use of these wild offerings and combines it with the classic (but expensive) french ingredient, truffles!

The resulting fusion of flavor is a smooth, comforting sip into the earthiness of the forest!

3) ORANGE AND HONEY PORK RIBS

Gluttony!! The Deccan Epicure serves up this outrageously good looking dish.

Succulent pork ribs cooked to perfection and given a caramelizy sear. The ribs are then smeared with a gorgeous orange, tangy glaze!

The pork, slips of the bone without the least bit of friction. The meat is beautifully prepared and the flavor on the palette is rich and almost unforgettable!

4) CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM LASAGNE

Fresh pasta is always inviting. With something that looks as good as that, we'll keep asking for more!

The chicken and mushroom lasagne, served at the Deccan Epicure, could quite easily be confused for one served out of a classic Italian kitchen. The fresh pasta is enveloped by layers of creamy mushroom bechamel and a lovely chicken mince cooked in a homely red sauce.

Together they make a fantastic combination which as they say in Italian, molto delizoso!

5) SAFFRON AND VANILLA PANNACOTTA

The Deccan Epicure, does finish well with their desserts, something which few Pune restaurants do well (Of course you have to have the stomach for it after all that delicious food!)

Pannacotta is perhaps one of the toughest desserts to get right, because foodies want their distinctive wobble!

The Deccan Epicure, provides us with just what we wanted! Adding a distinct Indian touch with its hints of saffron and fresh vanilla bean.

The depth of flavor is brilliant. The right amount of sweetness is complimented by the slight bitterness and tang of the orange syrup, giving you that marmalady feel on the outside but comforting creamy vanilla texture on the inside!

A dessert to die for!

The Deccan Epicure, is pushing the boundaries of local cuisine by exploring unique local ingredients and transforming them into abstract art on a plate.

With Chef David keen to learn and use the freshest local ingredients in his food, The Deccan Epicure will only thrive among many restaurants looking to put Pune's local cuisine on the map.

If you do have to experience some of Pune's best ingredients used in creative ways, visit The Deccan Epicure for pure food ecstasy within its doors!

Tweet Often?

Follow us @elthecook

Watch the Pannacotta wobble! click the link below!

I first met David Selvam, the head chef at Deccan Epicure {DE}, 3-4 years ago while he was still studying at MSIHMCT and his culinary school had taken up a food stall at the annual Pune Wine Festival. They were serving Creole cuisine and the Jambalaya was a great match with a dry red on a cold winter evening. I bumped in to him at the odd food festival a couple of times since but didn't hear much from him until Deccan Epicure came along 6 months back. Having tried David's cooking earlier, the restaurant's instant popularity and favourable reviews didn't surprise me one bit.

Located in a rare quiet by-lane of Viman Nagar, DE is a pretty relaxed space with an open kitchen to greet you upon arrival with a long table and bar stools by the French window, overlooking the street, on the ground level, and regular seating on the mezzanine level. There's nothing pretentious about the decor or service, which, by the way, is totally on point. From helping with menu reccos, topping water glasses regularly, clearing and cleaning tables promptly and not presenting the bill unless asked for, it's all very warm without crossing the line in to intrusiveness. There's a stack of interesting culinary books and magazines that you could browse through while you're there as well.

There are a few things to appreciate about the menu and presentation of the plates at DE. For one, it's succinct without being stifling, offering a good variety for both vegetarians and carnivores. If you order non vegetarian dishes, meat is all you'll get without distracting embellishments like those multicoloured abominations - I believe they're called salads? And lastly, menu prices include taxes; so what you see is what you pay. Well done.

We'd gone there for burgers so that's what we decided to stick to. They have an interesting Make Your Sandwich option wherein you choose the protein, type of bread, one sauce, two toppings and a side. You could add extra sauces, toppings and sides for an additional charge. I chose the Pulled Pork Burger {Rs.250/-} with barbecue sauce, caramelised onions, bacon and a side of potato wedges. This one was fantastic! The filling of pork is so generous that it's a task to take a bite without some of the meat falling of the edges. Quite a gross sight for your fellow-diners but what are those creeps doing staring at your face anyway? I suggest you take some of that succulent pork, heap it on the crisp wedges, dab some of the tangy barbecue sauce and indulge happily without giving a rat's backside about the impending cholesterol attack you're likely to suffer shortly.

The other two burgers we ordered for were the Tilapia Fish Fillet {Rs.300/-} with sriracha mayo, caramelised onions, lettuce and french fries, and Spiced Lamb {Rs.300/-} with mustard mayo, caramelised onions, pickled cucumber and sweet potato fries. I didn't try these but was told they're very good too. The burgers are held together pierced with steely knives which could be better used to stab purveyors of faux meat in the eyes. They're currently offering a complimentary coffee with a sandwich but readily complied when we requested for fresh lime with soda instead.

The Deccan Grilled Prawn Skewers are served with curry mayo, a subtle, but flavourful, sauce that allows the springy, sweet crustaceans to shine through nicely. It would seem that for a price tag of Rs.380/- for 6 pieces other items on the menu offer better bang for the buck but, fact is, seafood prices in Pune occupy the throne in the Kingdom of Batshit.

The Saffron and Vanilla Panna Cotta {Rs.220/-} sits pretty and blissfully on a pool of a not-too-citrusy, not-too-sweet orange sauce. It's wobbly, it's creamy and it's totally delish. The Sea Salt Caramel & Chocolate Bar {Rs.180/-} is layers of a dense almond cake coated with chocolate crumbs, smothered with a thick layer of chocolate mousse, sprinkled with sea salt and topped with crackling caramel. Beautiful contrasting, but compatible, textures and flavours make this one a must-have for fans of the holy troika of chocolate, caramel and salt.

The meal cost us Rs.1630/-. Neat stuff this.

This is probably some of the best food I have had for such prices. I have been twice and everything about the place is wonderful- the service, the music, the food. I would definitely recommend trying the brunch menu.

An epicurean 's delight - If ur a foodie like me who savors the share plates and desserts .. this place in Pune is a Definite Go to ! A contemporary continental food joint with its simplistic elegant decor ( the kinda place which seems perfect either for a quiet date or a food afternoon with friends ) & passionate foodie staff and owners who've experienced the best of continental food abroad and so effortlessly made a perfect menu to suit the Indian Palette ! The sliders ( oh with their perfect inhouse baked buns) & corndogs seemed like could feature any day and be savored on an International MasterChef episode .. My Apple Walnut & Lettuce Salad wrap had the perfect crunch which indicated the freshness of produce that Deccan Epicure uses .. The desserts were as delicious in my mouth as they were as pretty on my plate ! Oh Deccan Epicure .. u sure did bring out the Epicurean in me tat lovely afternoon in me ! Left with a perfectly happy tummy and still a very heavy wallet !

This is one of the place that I can suggest to anyone even with closed eyes. Its a small and calm place with perfect setting, soothing music. Bang on place for a person who loves food and would just like to concentrate on the food and it's flavors. Most of the people praise the non veg here but being a vegetarian I would like to review some mouth watering vegetarian delicacies served here. The veg Lasagna is something you cannot afford to miss! All the ingredients are fresh and the sauce is amazing too ! The other pastas are also very tasty cooked to perfection. They serve a wide variety of interesting desserts too . A place worth visiting !
P.S. The pasta was so tempting I forgot to click pictures!

Wanted a quick meal after a dull flight, this place was ideally located. Went for the lamb Shepherd pie, the meat was excellent, covered with a layer of mashed potatoes. Nothing pretentious about the place either, a simple restaurant advertising nothing but great food. Will head back soon.

Oh man, this place. My cousin and I spent 4 hours here just eating delicious food and talking with David and Kevin. You don't need to be a connoisseur to know the food here has been cared & loved for before reaching you.
We had the pulled pork panini and the chicken lasagne for our mains. If you're someone like me who doesn't usually go for a dish that's too cheesy and overwhelming the lasagne here is for you, the flavour is perfectly balanced and the freshly made pasta makes a HUGE difference.
We followed it with the saffron and orange pannacotta. It's easily the best pannacotta I've ever had. Every dish in here is treated as art, We couldn't help ourselves from looking over to other tables and watching as the courteous staff bring in well plated dishes.
The food is exceptional, The staff are extremely professional and kind. What more do you need? Go here. Eat everything.

There couldn't be anything as perfect as this place. Everything you touch on the menu is amazing. Specially the desserts. I m gonna be here as frequently as I can.
Superb food! They have changed their menu now and added few more dishes. They look mouth-wateringly delicious. It gives you a feel of fine dining with minimal pocket.

Had the Pork chops and glazed apple and herbed shrimp skewers. Were both very good and better than most fancy places in town. The hosts were extremely gracious and you could see that all they cared about was feeeding u a good meal. Pune needs a lot more of these places.

This one was oozing the home feel from the moment I entered the place ! Its simplicity is its elegance . The Menu is small but crisp ! Every dish is perfection . The food just signifies so much of love . The staff was lovely too . The only complain is the pricing it was a tad bit on the higher side. This place reminds you a bit of those Parisian Bistros !

Mental! It's the first time we came to this place. I never thought I'd visit such an epic place in Pune. I visit quite frequently from Mumbai but this food took this trip to a different level. Stupendous is the word! Definitely one of the best places I've eaten at lately. Simple elegant ambience, yummy food, fast and friendly service. Cottage cheese with mango chilli sauce and saffron vanilla panacotta is a must try!

Thanks a ton for the exquisite meal guys ....keep feeding people :)

1. Spinach & Coconut Soup with shrimps
2. Chicken stuffed with walnut , cheese , spinach with Spaghetti

Let's skip the foreplay. The pulled pork BBQ burger was to die for. Being a pork lover, that was bliss by the bite. The chicken caesar salad was good but should have had tomatos and mushrooms too. Although I'm sure if requested they'd gladly comply. The BBQ chicken wings were finger lickin good. Next was the baked cottage cheese with mango chilli sauce which was surprisingly good too. I'd definitely come here again. Oh but be warned, although the menu is limited, you may end up over ordering. Or maybe that's just my weakness. Lol. And last but not the least, the people there are really friendly. Service was great!

Everything ordered was just plain EPIC! Well cooked meat, scrumptious desserts and a completely fresh vibe! Very impressed!!

Nice place, good people, great food! You need to eat here! :)

I'm writing this review right after another amazing meal at Deccan Epicure, having just devoured a fantastic lunch. Their orange honey glazed pork ribs can make one salivate at the though of it, and it's as yummy as it sounds. The lasagna is sheets of rich pasta with the most flavourful filling.

And my favourite, is that pannacotta! Rich, creamy, light. I can eat that any time of the day.

Do yourself a favour, and go. You won't regret it!

I'm from Bombay, but I travel to Pune a couple of times every month. I make it a point to visit this place at least once every time I'm in the city.

Love the food, love the choice of music, love the overall ambience. I'd recommend talking to Chef David about what to order, as there always something special on the menu. I've tried a different dish every time as recommended by the chef, and I haven't been disappointed yet!

The pork ribs are an absolute must-have! Also, I'm not usually a dessert person, but I've been turned into one because of the scrumptiously awesome selection of desserts at the restaurant (panna cotta, souffle, chocolate fondant... slurp!!)

And all this at very very affordable prices!

All the best, and much love as always!
Aalok

This is a quiet little place in Viman Nagar with a soothing ambience, an open kitchen and a friendly staff. We went in quite late in the evening. I would suggest going in early because the place is open only till 10 pm. The food is the sort of food I like on cold winter evenings. We had the chicken and mushroom lasagna and stuffed chicken. Both of these dishes were amazing. They use fresh ingredients and the flavours and combinations are unique. We topped off our meal with some vanilla and saffron panacotta and the chocolate fondant! Loved the desserts. I really liked the lasagna and would recommend it! Do check this place out!

As the name suggests, it is truly an epicure's delight. I ordered the chicken stuffed with spinach cheese and walnut and spaghetti for me and my son and on the way back home all that we discussed was how good the food was. The chicken was moist and the stuffing was delicious. People who prefer quantity over quality may not like this place. It has a limited menu because the focus is definitely on taste and presentation. I ended my meal with Chocolate Fondant in white sauce which I can't stop thinking about. :) The cuisine is globally inspired. I usually don't repeat restaurants but I am going back to try a different item on the menu this time.

A Sweet Place to Be

The Deccan Epicure is a restaurant situated opposite Rosary School.

As you enter the place you are welcomed by a wonderful view of the workshop-like kitchen where you can see the chefs working.

They have wide variety on the menu. We had the Barbecue Chicken Wings and the Orange and Honey Pork Ribs (The Pork ribs were cooked perfectly) for mains we ordered Chicken and Mushroom Lasagna, Pork Chops with Glazed Apple & Barley (The flavors of both the dishes had remarkable depth, we loved it) and Deccan Curry Risotto with Homemade Mascarpone (this was a little dry and bland).
We were recommended to try the Chocolate Fondant for Dessert which was yummy.
We had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. For this reason I highly recommend going to The Deccan Epicure.

As you enter the place you are welcomed by a suave soothing to ones senses setting, a delightful marriage of pictures showcasing Pune’s antique charm along with the luxuries of modernity. The restaurant is impeccably clean and the lights compliment the decor perfectly. Sitting at the lower level you have a wonderful view of the workshop-like kitchen where you can see the chefs cooking up a storm. The upper seating level has tables with a lovely view of foliage during daytime.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters, soups, fresh salads. I had the Spinach and Coconut Soup flavored with lemon grass and kaffir lime leaves accompanied by freshly baked in-house garlic bread while my mom had the Poached Pear Salad in Balsamic reduction. The salad leaves were super fresh and the pears were poached to perfection with the sweetness of the fruit perfectly balancing the acidity of the balsamic vinegar. It was extremely refreshing We then ordered a starter called the Barbeque Chicken as we were told that the BBQ sauce is made in-house. The starter was such a relief from the heavy greasy starters out there.
In the main course we had the ‘Chicken Stuffed with spinach, walnuts, mozzarella served with spaghetti and par boiled vegetables’ and the ‘Chicken Steak with red wine jus’. The Chicken Steak was cooked just right and the red wine jus went very well with the tender steak. The stuffed chicken had an exquisite nutty flavor to it and the spaghetti was cooked to perfection. The presentation really thrilled us and we were eager to dig in as soon as our dishes arrived. This was followed by the very decadent and divine ‘Vanilla and Saffron Pannacotta’ thats flavored and set with saffron strands and ground coffee bean for dessert. This exquisite pannacotta is set to perfection and has just the right amount of sweetness, is feather light and the flavors just melt in the mouth, leaving you asking for more. We ordered one and were not willing to share it with each other like we usually do and ordered another one.
All the products were fresh and the dishes had the class and level of any top fine dining restaurant. The management takes great care in selecting the best quality ingredients and caters for all tastes by providing a decent enough selection of fine dining dishes.
The staff is well trained and the service is excellent. It’s really great to have the owner around to exchange some kind words, and give insights and recommendations about the dishes on the menu.
The pricing is pocket friendly for the kind of dishes and quality the restaurant is offering. We had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavors and the desserts are to die for. For this reason I highly recommend visiting the Deccan Epicure, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you.
Caroline.

This is a cosy little place with a crisp, utilitarian ambience, good service, and let's face it- food, most delectable! It has an array of exotic dishes on its menu to choose from. I was thrilled to find them serving Gazpacho (chilled soup); the Tomato and Red Bell Pepper is a definite must try. Their salads are a most interesting and refreshing change from the mundane slaws and relishes offered elsewhere. Go for the Poached Pear with Ruccola in Balsamic Vinegar if you enjoy a tart hit of flavour to your palate in-between courses. Also, who would've thoufht that a fusion of Spinach and Coconut makes for a great hot-soup? These guys, of course! (Props to Chef David- I'm now hooked on to this soup!)

From the appetisers' section, the Orange and Honey Pork Ribs practically make my red-meat-eating companions weep with joy and the Barbecued Chicken Wings, and the Musrooms stuffed with Ricotta and Paprika are superb, too.

Other things that stand out are the Deccan Curry Risotto with Mascarpone, the Spinach and Mozzarella Chicken and the Creamy Pesto Pasta. The one dish that truly sang to me on my recent visit to this place was the Chicken and Mushroom Lasagna. It is rich and flavourful and utterly scrumptious. It's one you must order when ravenous because it's quite heavy!

This place serves some of the finest desserts in town. They make a mean Vanilla and Saffron Panna Cotta. Their Crema Fritta (fried custard served with ice cream!) and Salted Caramel and Chocolate Bar are positively sinful. Try them before they leave the menu, for these guys are always experimenting with new dishes.

They serve an all day breakfast, with eggs to order. (Yay!) They bake their own bread, fresh and lovely and their Mushroom Rosemary Baguette is to die for. As for their French Toast? Team it up with a cup of steaming Cappuccino and I assure you, you're good to go! Yum.

The Deccan Epicure has become a fast favourite of mine; so much so that I celebrated my birthday there. Chef David had a wonderful set menu for my guests and me, served course after course, gourmet-style! The food was very elegantly presented and was served with warmth and care. :) The owner Kevin was very involved in making sure we had a good dining experience. And at the end of dinner, the entire staff came up to the table and sang a 'Happy Birthday' to me! It was fantastic and I felt so special! (Thanks again, guys!)

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! And what's more, everything on the menu is very, very reasonably priced. So seriously, why aren't you on your way to TDE already!? ;) Cheers!

Deccan Epicure, Viman nagar - 29 June 2016

Pune traffic scenes changed due to Palkhi procession last week. Considering the major rush on our way back to home, we made decision to join PEO palatable which was held at Deccan Epicure, Viman nagar. Had an awesome dinner and travelled back home with happy satisfied tummy (that too on peaceful roads).

Reached destination on time. PEOple waiting in the passage for everyone to join. Entered together the place which is small but
looks spacious due to black n white theme. You get a chance to take a look at their neat n clean open kitchen.

Specially curated set menu was waiting for us.

*Soup
-Wild mushroom soup: We parked our car half-one km away from the actual place so thats what exactly one would need after a short walk in the drizzle-hot soup!Creamy mushroom soup with white truffle oil- showstopper of the evening I would say.
Expectations raised as 1st dish on the table was excellent in terms of taste and presentation too.

*Starters
-Fritoo Misto: Batter fried assorted vegetables like capsicum , zucchini- Again perfect for the weather! Little bit oily for my liking
but no complaints as it tasted good with dip given along with.

-Chicken wings: Crisp fried wings tossed in BBQ sauce- perfectly cooked, yummy. Would love to have more of these but saved my appetite looking at the menu.

-Pork Ribs: Ribs braised in orange and honey infused with Star Anise- Braising made ribs tender and flavours enriched. You can see ribs topped with some sesame seeds giving it bit crunch.

*Soup again
-Gazpacho: Tomato and bell pepper cold soup -Worked perfectly as a palate cleanser.

*Salad
-Watermelon and feta: I am not a salad person so can't really comment on it. But quite liked the taste.

*Burger and Sandwich
-Pulled Pork BBQ Burger: Cute little burger with fresh in house baked bread and juicy pulled pork meat-tasted good

-Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Sandwich: Kevin was kind enough to give perfect portions of all on the menu. Normal burger/sandwich size would have made us stuffed, so he served portion of sandwich and small size burger so we can taste most of it. I love mushrooms n Caramelized onions too. Combination worked perfect for me. If given choice next time- I will choose this over pork burger ;)

*Main Course
-Roasted Stuffed Chicken with spinach, mozzarella and roasted walnut served with Spaghetti Aglio e Olio: Liked spaghetti, but
combination for chicken(spinach, mozzarella, roasted walnut) which I tasted for the first time, tasted ok for my palate. But most of
others on my table liked it.

-Cottage Cheese Steak served on a bed of Ratatouille: I like Ratatoille in general (reminded me that its been long time I had
Ratatoille sandwich at Le Plaisir :D ) This dish was absolutely delicious- Cottage cheese with veggies tomatoes, aubergines, onions- wholesome main course.

*Desserts
-Chocolate Fondant: served with orange zest infused white chocolate sauce: molten chocolate within oozing and then mingling with white chocolate sauce!

-Caramel n Chocolate- 45% dark chocolate, salted caramel ganache: Tasted better than how here its looking like. Both the desserts were definitely treat for chocolate lovers!

Overall it was one of these best PEO palatables! Place worth a visit for fantastic food :)

Deccan Epicure is a place where everything keeps getting better with another. Right from the ambience and the staff to food and desserts, amazing. :)
Sidd Alhat (myfoodvoyage)
- - Deccan Epicure - Next to Irani Cafe, Viman nagar.

Recently we have been reading quite good things on PEO about this place and was eager to try it. It's a small place with 4-5 table, 5-6 chairs downstairs with bar like sitting.
The interiors are minimal with few quotes about food and photo frames depicting "Old Pune" :). It's a treat to see those.

A special menu was designed just for us and it has possibly everything chicken, pork, mushrooms, paneer ( cottage cheese), salad and deserts of course. Who would want to give that a miss.

Here are few highlights of the dinner,

***Wild Mushroom Soup
This was the highlight of the day. It's thick, creamy and apt as per the likings of a soup.this definitely sets the expectations high and truffle oil give it more of n earthy taste n aroma which was prominent.
I guess everyone loved it. Don't forget to take a look at the cutlery in which they serve the soup ;)

***Chicken wings and Pork Ribs
I do eat pork but not a fan of it so won't really comment on that but the chicken wings were really well done with crunch and the sweet-tangy BBQ sauce..
They serve the wings on a foot long rectangular piece of green marble :p Preety unique way. You can give gym a miss after lifting few of those :p

***Gazpacho
This is a tomato and red bell pepper soup and is served "Cold" with few ice cubes in it. It's amazing.though it's served cold the heat of the bell peppers hit you as soon as u take a sip of it.its not as Creamy as the mushroom soup but something like a consistency of Maaza(Cold drink). definitely a must try :)

***Mushroom Sandwich
The mushroom sandwich is a definitely a must try. The combination of caramelized onions and mushrooms is a hits.its perfectly done and temps u to have more.

***Roasted stuffed chicken and spaghetti
The chicken is serve in oval shaped cut pieces stuffed with cheese and walnuts...liked everything about this dish except the walnut part. As soon as u reach the centre of the roasted chicken, walnut overpowers the chicken and cheese flavours and makes it a bit chewy!!

***Cottage cheese steak with ratatouille
Had something like this for the 1st time. The cottage cheese was minced and then grilled.
Ratatouille ( I remb the animated movie) was good. it was a tomato based preparation and went well with the cottage cheese steak.

Deserts -

***Caramel n chocolate
It's 45% dark chocolate 😍 i guess that's enough :p do try ;) u'all will love it.

In all worth a visit place :) both the soups were excellent...taste still lingers on my tongue :)
IMO a good place for veg as well as Non veg. Specially for mushroom and pork lovers.

#DeccanEpicure #VimanNagar

A very small cozy little place that serves lovely food ! . The flavours were very well balanced and the entire team working in the restaurant makes you feel welcome and they are open to suggestions and most importantly rectify them immediately. I trust they keep up the passion with which they serve and the quality of food ! And cost is well within your wallet.

The Deccan Epicure, Viman Nagar, Pune

For me, the vital part of eating out is the vibe of the place. I tend to associate every place with the way it made me feel. This one gave me a warm & cozy feel - like a comforting soup on a wet & cold day. It has very clean & crisp decor with the right amount of lighting. The whole place is done up in black and white - looks spacious. We were greeted by the ever smiling owner - Mr. Kevin Nathaniel. A little bit of discussion with him and you know you are in the company of someone who is truly passionate about his work.

1st Visit: DinnerWe had:Orange & Honey Pork Ribs - Absolutely tender & succulent ribs in a balanced glaze (a combination of salty, sweet & tangy flavours none of which were overpowering). The smattering of white sesame seeds on the surface gave it some crunch. Chicken Stuffed with Spinach, Walnut and mozzarella & Spaghetti and Par boiled vegetables - For me, chicken is mundane. But the mundane turned out to be exquisite. The spinach & mozzarella gives a creamy texture and the walnut provides crunch. So every mouthful is complete in itself. A special mention to the Spaghetti side which our 4 year old just lapped up completely. The Par Boiled vegetables & barbeque sauce complemented the dish well.Saffron & Vanilla Pannacotta - We wanted a light dessert & Kevin suggested Pannacotta. Silky & with the right wobble to it. Let the picture do the talking. In addition, we also ordered Mushrooms in butter garlic sauce (not in menu) & chocolate shake, which were great in themselves.(We had to pay only Rs.1015/- for all of this !!)

2nd Visit: It was an impromptu visit pre-lunchWe had:Wild Mushroom Soup - Chicken pieces were added to it on our daughter’s request. Mushrooms blended in the broth. Creamy, flavourful & comforting. Exactly how a soup should be. (Sadly, no picture of this one.)Pulled Pork BBQ Burger - They make their bread in house and it should not be missed. The freshness is apparent in every bite. Unlike most burgers with patty, they use pulled pork (pork cooked slowly over a low heat until it is tender enough to be pulled into strips). Sweet & sour pork giving a lovely moist & juicy bite. It is served with coleslaw & potato wedges.(Bill was only Rs.400/-)

Highly recommend a visit to every foodie here.

The Deccan Epicure, Viman Nagar, Pune.

We just had the most amazing breakfast here, a must visit place.
We have ordered 'Broccoli & Paprika Omelette' and 'Spinach & Corn Baguette'. The place offers complete hygiene to its customers in all aspects. Their kitchen is completely visible from the seating area and customers can see what in going on inside the kitchen. You can imagine the confidence level of the management to do that. A very pleasing ambiance indeed. The whole experience is very satisfactory to us.
I suggest this place very strongly to everybody. Many reasons why:-
1) Reserved parking (everybody knows how difficult it is to get a parking in Vimannagar, that part is taken care off)
2) AC environment with good music
3) Neat and clean Toilet in-house. Many restaurants don't offer this facility to their customers for their own good reasons. (For us, a restaurant without a decent toilet, is a complete no no.)
4) Very pleasing interior with good lighting - reflects the good taste of the owner Mr. Kevin.
5) Delicious foods and reasonably priced. They offer class and quality at a very reasonable rate and that is the beauty of it.

A must visit for all the foodies out there.

One of the very few restaurants where I've thoroughly enjoyed every single plate of food ordered (and we were a large group, with huge appetites!)

One thing I would definitely like to mention - before I dined at The Deccan Epicure I hadn't really enjoyed eating pork. But their delectable pork bao and the finger-licking pork ribs were life changing! I crave them every other day. Thank you Chef David :)

If you have a hard time deciding which of their innovative dishes to try, I would highly recommend - pork bao, pork ribs, barbeque chicken wings, mushroom soup, spinach-coconut soup and of course their wicked desserts. Actually just pick anything off the menu, you wont be disappointed.

Super service, super ambience and super food at affordable rates. Overall a very cosy fine dining experience. A definite must go!

There are a few restaurants you just cannot stave off reviewing just so that others get to experience the same culinary brilliance that you have. Deccan Epicure definitely deserves the attention! With such innovatively carved out dishes, all cooked to perfection, this one surely makes it to the top of my list. This place will make you experience fine dining with their delectable array of chilled soups, mouth-watering entrées, fresh salads, perfectly cooked pastas, creamy desserts and much more at reasonable prices (yes, it’s true!). We were lucky enough to have the chef himself recommend his personal faves!

Great service, great ambience and ofcourse great food. All at prices that don’t sting! Definitely going back for more!

If you love food this is the place to be! Fine dining, quality food and amazing presentation. The ambience is very soothing a sense of calm prevails. Service is quick. The chocolate fondant I ate seemed straight out of a Masterchef Australia kitchen! Simply beautiful and a portion that will fill two bukkad people 😝 Last but not the least everything on menu is priced inclusive of taxes! Yes you read right! So next time you have a craving for fine quality food with a budget this is a place to be! I am already planning to try everything on the menu!

I have found the best place in Pune which serves you amazing chicken lasagna. We also ordered tomato & red bell pepper gazpacho and a chicken two way sandwich. Both were simply great. But the food to die for was the chocolate fondant. That was really yumm!
I had to change my review after I was made to visit this place by my good friend.
The honey pork ribs are just beautifully cooked. The chicken sandwich is sumptuous. The pannacotta is d absolute right flavour as it should be.
