Review Mughal Darbar - Pune

Great restaurant that has nice food in non veg. Chicken sabjis here are very good. Mughal names and taste is also very good. Just love it.

Food is kind of tasty but not a place for sitting.

Went on a Sunday afternoon with the family for a late lunch. Reached there at around 3 and the place was still packed. There was a waiting for around 20 minutes despite confirming ahead of arrival but the wait was worth it. Since the place is small and given its popularity, some wait is expected.<br/>We ordered Reshmi kebab and angara kebab for starters and Dahiwala Murg & Gosht Shahi korma for the main course. Waiting after 15-20 minutes the starters arrived and they were worth the wait. The chicken pieces were marinated beautifully and flavors went with every bite. the chicken was juicy and tender and did not at all taste like a rubber. The main course was equally delicious. While the dahi wala murg was mild and creamy, the mutton had a spicy kick to it. Both went well with their traditional rumali and tandoori roti. The rotis and naans were soft as well and not a hard 'papad' which other restaurants serve.<br/>This is a must visit for anyone in Pune craving for an amazing non-vegetarian fair. There's a lot on offer in the menu with its own individual taste.<br/><br/>Ambiance : 3.5/5<br/><br/>Food : 5/5<br/><br/>Decor : 3/5<br/><br/>Service : 3/5

Was here for my friends birthday treat.. we were 8 of us but wasn't a problem because the place was pretty vacant and we got our table on arrival.. service provided was good.. food was delicious.. ambience was soothing.. quantity was also great.. a good value for money.. the best part of the mean was the desert,. Malai firni and shahi tukda is a must try!

Mughal Darbar as the name suggest some Mughal recipe some biryanis n kebabs bingo I am Writing a review for the awesome biryani they serve the exact amount of spices which enrich the flavor of chicken and rice and make it perfect with great aroma and taste well If you are working near kalyani nagar do go here and try I hope you will not need to wait much and ur tummy will feel happier 🤗🤗😊😊

Liked thier chicken mumtaaz the biryani was not that much great need improvement on hygine and ambience . Not worth .........................

We went there for Moti Mahal but they were serving only veg hence we popped into this. This place looks shady from inside, no proper lighting, not much place to sit also. <br/>We had Tandoori chicken which was ok. Then tried chicken biryani which is also OK.

Last weekend I went Mughal darbar in kalyani Nagar.<br/>It's a good restaurant for dining...<br/>We ordered chicken makharana kebab it was very testy and after that we ordered chicken dum briyani...<br/>Briyani was to good....<br/>Ambiance also good and very fast service...<br/>Keep it up....<br/><br/>

Bought chicken Afghani today which is supposed to be boneless but I have bones in my dish. The chefs cannot be this careless. This is not acceptable at all.
Omkar Pandit
Had the chicken tikka biryani ... rice is shrunk and no taste of biryani ... there is some bitter taste to the biryani . Had ordered for Nizami kebab which was too spicy .. not recommended in Kalyani Nagar

Ordered via Zomato and what a disaster it was ! Placed the order at 12.40 PM and got a message saying it will be delivered by 1.30 PM. Called the restaurant at 1.45 PM and they lied through their teeth that the delivery boy couldn't reach my cellphone and was waiting below my office. I called up the delivery boy myself and he mentioned that it will take atleast 10 more minutes for him to reach ! Finally got the food at 2.20 PM ! <br/><br/>Food was decent , nothing great . Avoid this place , unprofessional staff and average food. Even a small tapri has a better staff.
Nickhill007
One look at their restaurant and you would think this should have been on a highway... Yes looks like a Dhaba. I feel sad to waste time and money here. Food wasn't tasty, the biryani had no rice in it the chicken was dry.. The non veg platter.. Forget it.. Avoid..
Moumita Sengupta Sinha
I visit this place very frequently, love their mutton paya soup.Food is decent, but the staffs are very careless, seems like they have management issues.<br/>They will always either add or deduct something from our order, and will behave as if that's normal.food is good and affordable.
Madhur Gaikwad
This place is nonsense.. the staff is stupid they don't knw wat the person has ordered and wat ever I had was bland n taste less.. made a mistake by goin here.. had to wait 1hour till the main course comes.. the staff doesn't knw and keeps on asking wat u hav ordered.. won't recommend any one this place. And plz cook.your food properly if you Gona serve it.. hope management reads it.. I left the table in between cuz it was delayed n they expect us to wait an hour till food is served c'om wat the hell is this.. they can't even get sprite on time the staff forgets that too.. worst experience ever..

The place is kind of dark but the environment is good .talking about the food it's worth your money.service is good .good for giving bday treat#

Contrary to the other reviews, I'm actually really impressed with this place . The ambiance is very royal and sets the perfect mood for a meal with yoir family and loved ones. We were dead hungry when we reached , the only major drawback is the service is very slow but I enjoyed my time here .<br/><br/>We ordered makkhan lasooni jhinga : basically the Indian name for garlic butter prawn. I'm a seafood junkie , I can say the prawns were not fresh but I think that's the best available in that locality so can't complain. It had a nice smokey flavour with mild flavour of garlic and butter. I liked this preparation . <br/><br/>Murg chakori : the taste was exactly like the previous starer . I couldn't make out the difference at all . Not recommended . <br/><br/>Murg shahi korma : this took ages to be prepared but the wait was indeed worth it . A big tray full of chicken pieces roasted to Perfection in a yummy tomato and curd based gravy ! We were four people and yet couldn't finish this with rotis.<br/><br/>Mutton dum biryani : spiced balanced perfectly with well cooked tender chunks of mutton. This was one the best biryanis I had in the western parts of India . I loved how unlike most places in the West it wasn't simply rice mixed with curry, they actually put efforts to make it the authentic way. Recommended. <br/><br/>We were too full to have dessert 😂 <br/><br/>Value for money:5/5<br/>Presentation:4/5<br/>Service and management: 2/5 <br/>Ambiance:4/5 <br/>Food:4/5

nice ambiance but.... test is not so good ...                                                                                                                                                     .

The ambience is the only saving grace. Food is really bad. The paneer tikkas and biryanis are better in cheaper restaurants. They really need to work on the taste of the food.
Tejas Dhage
Very very very bad service.....<br/>Don't come over here...<br/>It sucks......shitt u well get here<br/>Bad experience....<br/>Wasted my night with my colleagues because of these restorent .....
Ishaan Joshi
My sister got me a take away from this place, so I don't know how does it look but the chicken tikka biryani was quite decent tasting, but the problem was that some of the chicken pieces were raw from the core. Coming to the raita, it was awful. I couldn't even swallow it. <br/>Haven't tried anything else yet. Maybe in the future.
Gourav Munal
Food is total bekar. Service is good. <br/>Masala papad was not half cooked, starter was bland other than potatoes. Biryani had nothing to swear with.
Mayurakshi
Nice kebabs and chicken main course dishes that I had had once. But the biryani was just terrible, taste, quantity everything. Could do with some improvement. PS a thumbs up for the ambience
Shikha Singh
Mughal themed restaurant with delicacies that go by royal names as well as their cutlery.<br/><br/>Murg Lazeez - Mildly spicy, good consistency, cooked well and tasted royal.<br/><br/>Makhani Naan - Undercooked, thick and not good at all.<br/><br/>Jeera Rice - A little too much fried and rice wasn't soft at all but tasted fine.<br/><br/>Staff was courteous and service was quick.
Shridhar Kawley
Overall food is good here but service and experience is really bad.<br/><br/>We ordered biriyani couple of times from here for office group lunches and dinner. Had couple of bad experiences.First time I ordered from food panda and got flat 20% discount. But when it was delivered, to compensate discount my quantities were reduced and I could not check the quantity while accepting delivery due lack of time. This is a big time cheating.<br/><br/>Second time we ordered in large quantities for the entire team and was not treated well. After accepting order from food panda by them, I was told you should have placed order day before. The order was significantly delayed in-spite of us going to the restaurant to accept delivery.
PushpRaj Bhandari
Food was tasty and well cooked. Good ambiance and lighting. Prices were pocket friendly. Will recommend if you want to taste good non veg. 3.5 as it is still far from being an authentic mughlai.
KJ
I have been lucky the last few days when I have tried new places. This came to be a delight. I ate twice from here both times took a delivery. The chicken gravies are simply amazing. I feel their specialities are chicken lazeez and chicken tikka masala. They definitely deserve another 0.5 however deducted that cause the first time around the food came a good 1 1/2 hour after ordering. Other than that, they could improve their lacha paratha"s! They are too thick (so much that it's left a bit raw at sections).
Samrudhi Jadhav
Poor interior and ambience, one may not prefer to sit and eat at the restaurant.home deliveries are late and deliver guy usually doesn't bring the change and ends up keeping the change for himself , this happens quiet often , average food ,
Rohan Sp
Food is great , never disappointing , quick service and good service . <br/><br/>However very poor ambience <br/><br/>As well as poor home delivery service , service guy doesn't bring change each and every time and ends up keeping the change for himself ..
Saumya Ajaykumar
Been here for lunch with colleagues.. Ambience ok.. Not a very bright place.dimly lit..chicken dishes were good..but never try fish here..wasn't fresh at all..we ordered a surmai tandoor.. Service is slow..
Aritra Sen
Good food. Less on staff. Waiters being called upon give no attention. Had to shout for water thrice. The upper level serves of no usage anyways, waste of space on a whole.
Bhagyashree
I agree with below comments.. Endless waiting for such pathetic food. The height is they will get ur food and keep it on side table and will serve it when it's cold . disgusting .. Not even worth of 1 star rating . Writing this while waiting for our food ordered 1.5 hrs ago. X-(
Gokul Nair
Who has a lot of time to waste, wait endlessly for food, wait a little more and a little more and then just about a little more? Anyone?Anyone? But here's the catch. The food served will be horrendously tasteless. Anyone up for it.<br/><br/>These three lines sum up our experience at the Mughal Darbar. Butter chicken in tomato puree with no butter. Not so professional attitude from the captains and the waiters when we enquire the delay. This was a Sunday well spent. Do not visit this place for anything remotely mughlai or Indian. It offers you nothing.<br/><br/>Damn! the chicken sacrificed its life to end up in a tasteless affair.
Apoorva.sawarkar
Interiors are pretty depressing...Ordered turk boti kabab ..there were 2 of us and the quantity served was even less for a child...we were shocked to compare price with the quantity... only saving grace was its taste which was good. Murg dum biryani and other main course was also OK , nothing great...
Saransh Bhosale
Place is full of disgusting interiors on the top floor <br/>With no fans n AC... Jampacked tight!<br/>Waiting outside 15mins...<br/>Waiting after order 15mins <br/>No COLD water (Bisleri)<br/>Finally came the order...chicken ishtew <br/>Stinky smelling...mixed fish into it kind!!!!<br/>We frustrated by this... Left the darbar....
Chiranjeet Das
I wouldn't use the word 'authentic' to describe the place, I would rather use 'typical'. Now speaking of food, I found it to be average but definitely not the worst, there are plenty of better restaurants in Kalyani Nagar area.
Malhar Ravikumar Jadhav
I had to come here because colleagues insisted. There is nothing reflected about Mughals except the interior here. The service is slow, food here is not up to the mark. No proper suggestions. We had murg musallam, it took 25 mins to come and roti 10 mins after that. The chicken didn't have any taste.<br/>Suggestion- need work on the food and service by hiring a good food consultant.<br/>Must try - not at all recommended

Had been to Kharadi the other day and on the way back home, thought of having dinner so took the road to Kalyani Nagar. After roaming in the by lanes, came across Mughal Darbar on the main road itself.<br/><br/>This place is elite with rich interior and neatly laid out tables on either sides. They specialize in the Nawabi cuisine is what they claim. So thought of ordering something new.<br/><br/>Murg Sia Mirch:<br/><br/>Quantity wise, this dish is a perfect choice for a single person. Chicken cooked in a thick gravy or masala as I would call it. The pieces of chicken are cooked to the core. Perfectly balanced flavours, perfect spice level. And those tiny bites of garlic you get to chew when you have a morsel is an add on.<br/><br/>The Butter Garlic Naan is too good.<br/><br/>Overall it was a nice experience. Good staff, quick service and reasonable on the pocket.

Basically an authentic North Indian Restau with awesome ambience and lighting. Properly themed to give you a good feel about this place.Food is very tasty and this restau is pocket friendly too. The quantity is quite good. Try some sea food dishes and you will not regret trying them.
Surabhi
The food here is very tasty. <br/>Should try Kathi Roll. <br/>I always have it whenever i go there. <br/>Also the biryani is delicious. <br/>Chicken platter is yummm
Leroy Dsouza
What you see here is an authentic north indian restaurant coupled with a quaint decor. This place is surprisingly nice considering all the whacky themed restaurants that keep springing up here and there. You cant go wrong with Murg Lahori and Nalli ki Nihari. Both finger lickin' good. Overall, it isn't the best, but it ain't the worst either.
Neha Farheen
From outside it looks like some blah restaurant ... But the ambience inside is really cool .. Nice theme ... All the waiters are dressed in phatani dress .... Coming to the food .... The biryani is really good ... Any dish u take its tasty .... Only disappointment the food here isn't spicy ...

Ordered some Ghost Biriyani last night! And my friend, my fiancé, and I are sick!!! I puked all morning, someone has loose motions, some one stomach cramps! I mean really, guys whats the point of making a customer sick? Such upsetting experience, my whole Sunday is bad. <br/><br/>Anyways thank you. <br/>

Just happened to visit this place with my buddies for some nonveg food. And it wasn't a bad experience though. We ordered a Chicken platter, quite spicy I must say which added to the taste of it. The ambience was not good at all although you'd find the place covered by Mughal Era Photos. But the seats were quite worn out. A must try is Biryani. Just loved it. I'd suggest this if u really crave for biryani else for any other thing you may have many options.
Chandra Pratap Singh
Worst experience till date. Bad ambience. Dirty and worn out table cloth and worst food. Tomato shorba was sweet as hell. Non-veg platter and mushroom kebab were burnt, full of salt and red chilli powder with absolutely no taste. Not recommended even if you are dying of hunger. After soup and starters left for neighbourhood restaurant without ordering main course. And see the service quality, after showing our displeasure they started discussion among themselves about whom to blame. Worst experience ever.
NileshGiri
Biryani's are awesome .. <br/>Taste is really good .. <br/>They should improve there Raita that comes with biryani .. <br/>There should also be some soup or rassa with the biryani for spicing it up .. <br/>Good place to visit with your family .. take any sabji here .. it will be of good taste .. <br/>All the nonveg and veg food here is good .. starters are delight and makes you full before main course .. :p <br/>Must visit for chicken cravings and starters ..<br/><br/>nOTE: bIRYANIS hAVE eGG'S iN iT

The place disappointed me this time. The food quality has degraded. The Veg Curry we ordered had no taste. No salt, No spices. Paneer Starter turned out to be a bland piece  of paneer. Biryani was alright. The  rotis and naans were the best amongst all. I liked the rumali roti. <br/>Service and ambience is average.

Sending blackened pieces of tandoori chicken is not only unhealthy but carcinogenic and not a good way to keep a new customer. I doubt if I will be ordering from here again. Shame on you.
Sreeni Tanuku
Ordered Online, just 3 items.<br/>More than 1.5 hours, 2 follow up calls, still no sign of the order.<br/>Never going to order from here again.<br/>Very unprofessional.<br/>
MasterChef Anuj
It was my first time I checked in @mughal darbar kalyani nagar and m really afraid this would be my first and last time. We ordered two dishes chicken matka and chicken tikka masala .The taste was really bad .Both dishes tasted same with so much sourness . Roti was real hard .The quantity was so less as compared to its cost . I hope management takes a note of this .
Deepak Kumar
The worst experience till date when ordering a full course meal. I don't know if it had to do with bulk orders for 10 people or was it because it was dinner which was served. I received, burnt tandoori rotis , uncooked meat , and in adequate quantity of main course dishes which left us frustrated at night when we are working in the office since past 14 hrs and will continue for the next 8 hrs. Please get to know what you are serving and don't take it lightly.<br/>We pre informed about the order at 8 pm with a call asking if they can deliver late at night.I mean who does that ?? in the age of competence for customer satisfaction if the customer has to ensure that the food will be also good what is the difference between of being a restaurant than street vendor who cooks meat ??<br/>I would very much like to hear some explanations from the manager.
Nakul Wenger Ramakumar
The food was really tasty ambience was okay but I'll still rate this place 1 . Reason - 2 out of 5 people in our group got food poisoning the next day. Enough said.
Sayali Sabane
The place has a very old feel to it. It is a very small place with old decor. The kebabs are good. The waiters there wear pathani which gives you the mughal feel. The place has a limited but decent menu. Anybody looking for good food at reasonable rates can give it a try. They should increase their portion size though.
Rajdeep
went for late lunch at around 3..45 pm orderedoup aws absoulately terribele ,never imagine a paya souplike that as its one of my favourite.then gone for main ghost ishskew was good ,garlic nnaan as well mouthaatering ,thanks for good main ..

I visited this with few friends last Sunday. I have nice things about restaurant in zomato. I have found it to true. It has good variety for non-vegitrain. People who likes mughlai food will like this place. I like kebabs. I tried peswari kebab.. I love meeti chicken too.
Akshada Wadekar
The food served here have never disappointed me. Anytime can rely on this restaurant and it will give you the best food. Ambience is also good. U can see authentic posters n all. Though a bit small place but best food.

Located on the Main street of Kalyani Nagar. Nice ambiance with Royal Mughal's touch. Not so expensive as it looks from outside. Good varieties of Mughlai's Cuisine in the Menu.<br/><br/>Got to taste Murg Matki, Hara Murg with Rotis followed by The Chicken Biriyani. The Curries were good with decent taste so as the Biriyani. Chicken Biriyani could have been better is less mint leave were used. Service is little slow. Overall a decent experience.
Rajat Gupta
Yes a special food Mughal style. Served Hot. Good Service. 1 flaw Table little crunched. over all ambience great. 4 points for food. Service little slow but food makes for it.
Saaniya Sharma
Brilliant food, perfect ambience!<br/>One of the very few places that actually serve authentic mughlai food.<br/>Chicken akbari is a must try, oh and their butter naan will jusy melt in your mouth. And the best part, it's not too heavy on your pocket for the quality of food they are providing.<br/>
Gauravch12
Good food.<br/>Awesome ambience.<br/>Slow service.<br/>Decent price.<br/>Quantity was a concern for the dishes I had. Slightly less than usual.<br/><br/>---- Murg Nizami is worth a try.
Sunder B Singh
Gosht Seekh Kabab- 250/- The Seekh Kababs are good a little hard on the outside but on the inside its nice and juicy with all the aromas of the Bhatti. Nalli Nihari-250/-, Gosht Chaap Masala-250/- These two dishes are in different Gravys which is very rare to find. The Nalli Nihari has a thin Gravy a little spicier but it's good. The Chaap Masala comes in a thick gravy and is medium spicy with all the aromas of the spices included. The meat has been cooked very well and it leaves the bone quite easily which increases the urge to eat more. Rotis and Nans are the normal ones and they are at the same rate as 20/- per tandoori Roti To end it all Ambience- 3.5, Reason too hot and the AC wasn't working. Service-4, A little slow but the wait is worth it. Value for Money-5 Good Food and the right amount of money.
Saumya Mohanty
Hoped to have some good shahi food....but ended up with everything being average....murg mumtaz was their recommended dish but was nothing great....for the price an OK option...much better places arnd to go...
Kapil
Nice place for non-veg lovers.<br/>Tried Tandoor first nothing special but not bad :)<br/>Also tried Murg nizami in Kebab tests good, can try :)<br/>After that ordered Murg Biryani boneless and egg biryani, both were good.<br/>In veg tried Hara bhara kebab, good dish can try as there are too less options for veggies ;)<br/>Also please dont try their Tandoor veg kebab its mess :@..<br/>overall good experience :)
Nitin Prabhuwal
Poor food quality. I have stopped ordering food from here. It happened more than 2 times for orders on phone you get stale food esp fish. The chicken, the chutney is all stale. Even after repeatedly calling him he insisted the fish is refrigerated and this is what we have.<br/><br/>We also had food at the restaurant and found a insect in the food. No doubt he replaced it but still very low in quality<br/><br/>My advice avoid home deliver since if your eating there you can voice it immediately.
SANKET SAHU
As named so was ambience MUGHAL.. Ordered Murg Laziz Handi it was good bt not the taste my buds were looking for dinner. Den Ordered Murg Dum Biryani and must say it was good, service and staff were well behaved. Overall good place.
Kaustubh Marudwar
Food was delicious...People who love spicy food must visit there...Service is bit slow...Rest taste is good...No parking issues...Food Plates are a bit unique...
Rajiv Purohit
Not up to expectation, water not served till you request for. Dirty table cloth, dirty toilet. Food was below average. Staff busy in there own world.<br/>Don't expect much from this place, not worth it.
Debashish Mohapatra
Pocket friendly... Rolls are extremly( spicest thing I have ever had till date) spicy. Overall you can try at least one. Service is really pathetic. One time experience only.
Pooja Chavan
Visited Mughal Darbar for lunch with my colleagues. Pathetic service. We ordered fish tikka for starters. They took a serving time if 45 mins just for the starters & ultimately the fish was stale n smelling foul. The mutton starter was also chewy and uncooked. Overall a very below average place
Samam Srivastava
You can spot this restaurant while going to the airport road from westinn KP on the right hand side right after big cinemas.<br/>I have always been a big fan of mughalai food. As I used to stay in Lucknow, I never could get over the amazing mughlai food you get there in legendary restaurants like dastarkhwaan or tundai kebabs. So with my curiosity I directly went inside to give it a try.<br/>Now with exceeded expectations I went inside and I noticed a not so big restaurant with the waiters in kurtas. It was 11:30 so the restaurant was empty. We ordered a plate of Chicken Nizamis and a plate of boneless mutton dum biryani.<br/>Starting with chicken Nizamis, big pieces of chicken were marinated in some kind of red masala which the waiter didn't share and were then kept on a seekh. It tasted amazing with perfect flavours, not too spicy at all and perfectly cooked. Wasn't too chewy and wasn't melting or breaking apart. It was just perfect. It tasted even better with the green chutney which they served.<br/>Next I had the mutton boneless dum biryani and man it tasted good. Perfect blend of flavours. The mutton pieces actually melted with every bite.<br/>Overall this is a very good restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. A must visit from my side.

We visited Mughal Darbar with family, last Friday. I understand that the current owners have retained the furniture etc when they took over from Kareem's some years back. They have also retained all the dust and dirt left behind by the previous owners( just look at the ac near the entrance). The food was good. The payah shorba was a hit with everyone ( from age 14 to 90). The mutton curry, the chicken curry and the cheese nan and rotis received everyone's approval. Service is a huge problem. The waiters are very polite when they finally decide to serve you but most of the time they are busy talking to each other.
Sneh Pahilwani
I'm damn sure you'll fall in love with their food but will be disgusted by their service! When you enter the place, you're hit with a strong tandoor smell which makes you drool then n there!<br/><br/>If you're craving for some good variety of chicken, try their Chicken Platter. Totally worth the cost and amazing types of kebabs. But it takes a huge amount of time for them to bring something this delicious! :(<br/><br/>We also ordered Murg Dum Biryani, which comes in good quantity but it's like any other biryani,  nothing special about that! Furthermore, we had Murg Akbari, Murg Lahori and Murg Matka for main course. They're all tangy and spicy dishes for the exception of Murg Matka but really tasty dishes all in all! <br/><br/>I like the food here but if they could just speed up the service a bit, it'll  be an ideal place to enjoy Mughlai food! The ambiance has nothing special about it and it's a bit crammed up too I feel. So my suggestion to the restaurant is if you have more people coming in, try to bring in more people to serve as well!
Utkarshini Khanna
This eatery is not vegan friendly. I asked for a vegetable main course without any dairy products and they served me a paneer dish with butter naan! Wonder since when are paneer and butter not dairy products. The dal was good though.
Hussain Jassani
The food quality is decent here, not that costly. One thing I loved about them is the combos that they have customized, makes it worth for 2-3 people. They could have done better business if they'd have maintained the quality-quantity relationship.
Snehit Gupta
Ohhk to begain with nice ambiance.. Great food bt lazy service.. A complete value for money place with nice food... All d sweetdishes r nice.. Plus great chicken nd mutton..!! A must try
Haridas
Today for lunch we went to this place and placed a take away order.<br/><br/>Good food. We have ordered a food for 10-12 people both the dishes veg and non veg.<br/><br/>I am a veggi so my focus was on veg food.<br/><br/>Veg sheekh kabab and mint chutney was nice.<br/><br/>Never try aloo paneer roll.<br/><br/>Veg Adraki and butter roti for main course.<br/><br/>Daal tadka and jeera rice were ok.<br/><br/>Overall good food.
Tanmay Dutta
when i first entered the restaurant, it looked pretty shabby. but what turned me on is the smell of kababs as well as the people out there dressed in pathani suits and food  being served on squarish metal plates. coming to the food, i have tested one of the best kababs of Pune here. the meat was literally melting in your mouth and was very fresh. Biryani was okay okay.  go to this place if ambiance does not matter to you and if you are a fan of kababs
Manish Jain
I visited Mughal darbar last week for a friends farewell party, and have to admit that their food quality was better than I anticipated. The ambiance is good too and you feel like you're suddenly in touch with Arabian culture (Not sure what the culture should be called, but the jhoomar and the lantern made me feel like that).<br/><br/>We started by ordering Paneer Lahori tikka. The tikka was pretty good and tangy. And the paneer was really soft and I loved the way it tasted. Next we ordered Harabhara kebab, and the moment I put the first piece in my mouth, the only word that came to my mind was Great!!!. The kebab was soft, crispy and tasted very good. I'd definitely suggest everyone to try it.<br/><br/>After the starters, we ordered main course. Daal makhani was great and one of the finest I've eaten in Pune. Veg Akbari was very decent, but it was overshadowed by the wonderful Paneer Lehsuni. The quality of the paneer was again fantastic and I absolutely loved it. The vegetables were served in decent quantity as well, and definitely provide value for money.<br/><br/>Garlic naan was really amazing. I've been to places where they put couple of pieces in a naan and declare it as Garlic naan, but not this place. There won't be a single bite that you'll take that won't taste of garlic. However, if you're not a huge garlic lover, then you might not enjoy it that much.<br/><br/>Veg biryani was decent, and Jeera rice were good. After the main course we ordered Shahi tukda in desert and it tasted great too. I am not sure how the tukda should actually taste, but the one they serve is definitely worth ordering.<br/><br/>The service is pretty good and the waiters are always nearby. One more thing I liked about this place was that they know when to replace the plates. You won't have to remind them again and again about your place being used. They change them after every single dish you order.

It was a blissful experience. It was a Saturday evening and I wanted to be away from rush. I stepped into mughal darbar, it was a hush hush enviroment. There were no guest we took a corner table. And ordered for a shorba. The shorba was great, appropriatley spicy. For mains we ordered chi lahori which was also very well coocked. If you go here try shahi tukda dor desert.

We landed at Mughal darbar on a sunday late in the afternoon in search of food (which is quite difficult at 3.30 pm). We were greeted with amazing aromas which assured us of good food. Mughal darbar is a descent family restaurant, not anything posh but a descent place to enjoy with friends and family. Coming to the most important aspect, THE FOOD, we ordered for murgh dahiwala and murgh matka with butter naan. The food is really good but the quantity is not something I can swear by. Murgh dahiwala was perfect combination of yogurt, mild spices and a smooth gravy with no clove or any garam masala disturbing your taste buds with abrupt flavours, a perfect combination of mild but delicious gravy. However i wish i could say the same about the chicken which did not taste as fresh as it should, probably because we were quite late for a lunch and too too early for a dinner. Murgh matka was just perfect, it was spicy and delicious to say the least with fresh chicken pieces. The naans were huge and were more than enough quantity wise unlike the chicken dishes. The food was good, service was descent but I highly recommend them to change their PLATES, A plate should serve the purpose of comfortably accommodating your food but here the food was inconveniently lying on the plate. Overall it was a good experience and i would definitely recommend this place.

The chicken dishes and the chutneys and salad stink. Tried the special combo twice and same issues with the stink happened twice. Beware of upsetting ur stomach.

With great name comes great responsibility.<br/><br/>I have been passing by this restaurant almost everyday since last 1 and a half year but didn't step in, thought this must be a good restaurant we'll visit some fine day.<br/><br/>But boy was I stabbed in the back!<br/>When we entered the restaurant we were greeted with the aroma of Kebabs, which is good. I was like oh my god!! This is blissful.<br/>But it went all downhill from there<br/> <br/>It is not fine dine per se, but they have tried to maintain a decent albeit older feel. Not much space. The AC was also not working.<br/><br/>Some of my friend's ordered soup which was literally 'yuk'.<br/>The fish starter was good, chicken starters decent. And chicken main course was terrible. The three dishes we ordered tasted all same.<br/> <br/>On the bright side we 8 people had dinner and the bill was just 3k.<br/><br/><br/>

Food quality is not so good.. Ordered food from this place 2 times ..1st time biryani - lot of tomatoes 2nd time fish pomfret - this dish is expensive and quality was worst. Too much oil and spices.. Fish wasn't fresh at all..

Place is a bit cramped up, veg food is just okay.. Attendant pushes dish which you don't want to have. Many dishes on the menu were not available for lunch... God knows if they are available in evening!! Slow service, food taste is average for pricing. Overall not so good experience.

Food was tasty but still can be improved. Chicken tandoori was good but comparatively less spices and masala on it than other restaurants. What I liked was chicken shorba, perfectly cooked chicken pieces but some spice added to it was very dominating. Same in case of chicken akbari, if less spice(the dominating one) added then it would taste very good. <br/>Some concerns: The smoke from their kitchen was filling the main dining area which was somewhat irritating. Please look into that. And one more important thing, they added 4-5% tax in the bill which was very disappointing. <br/><br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Ambiance: 3/5<br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Quantity: 3.5/5

Tried the Home delivery!<br/><br/>Ordering Daal makhani, Murg Musallam and a suggested order by the host taking our order on the phone.<br/><br/>As a delite who has a strong taste bud for North Indian, my pallate was decently satisfied.<br/><br/>Decent food to make one's Mughalai taste buds happy :)

As the name suggests they have tried their best to create an ambience of the mughal era with glass jhumars etc but unfortunately the effort is half hearted and reflects on the interiors . Anyways the menu has alot if muglai dishes to choose from.....we decided to try out the khadai chaap with butter naans. The dish was very tasty , low on oil ,chilli n spices just the right amount ....The mutton was tender and the naan was made well . We enjoyed our meal quite a bit . They just need to liven up the interiors and improve on the service a bit....the place looks gloomy. Will surely go back and try the chicken this time .....iv given it a 4.0 rating purely based on the food !!!

Nothing so extraordinary about this restaurant! Their dishes are just not so yummy as what they claim to be. The name of restaurant might fool you into believing that the taste of food will be awesome but you will end up disappointed. The price is high and quantity is very less. Their chicken reshmi tikka was well marinated and good but i just could not find why it was different from other normal restaurants. Their reshmi tikka tasted much better... Going by the name mughal it should atleast live up to the name!.<br/><br/>Their murg matka was a decent preparation. I liked it to be honest but they again let down in quantity served.. Just 2 pieces of chicken! ! and the cost was 200+ for that.. Their chaas (Butter milk) was the only thing i liked upfront.<br/><br/>The hotel waiters are lazy and not active and always forgot some or the other thing everytime... <br/><br/>Their airconditioners were not working properly and it was getting damn hot out there. it took us more than 25 mins to adjust and cool down to room temperature. its high time they either service them or replace them to tower AC's..<br/><br/>Bad experience.

I went to eat there once and it was alright. But now I would rather order from there. They have what they call Mouth watering combo that is 630 rps and comes with four plates of different grilled chicken pieces, two rôtis. Two naans, one butter chicken, one daal, one chicken curry, one jeera rice and one desert. It is enough for two meals and really tasty. They also used to have shawarma that was my favorite but they stopped making it. I recommend trying it but only delivery.

Well, it was tasty alright. Ambiance is..Well..confusing.<br/>First you have this really low ceiling upstairs. And it looks rather shoddy. Then they give exquisite looking cutlery and dishes. Pretty good stuff.<br/><br/>Quantity was kinda off putting though. I could do with more food for that much money.

Food was top quality. Right from starters to main course concluding at deserts, all was great. The only point that could need to be worked upon is the serving time. If one has to wait for too long, the charm n enthusiasm could diminish !!

We went there on Valentine's Day. vegetable kadai sabzi was fantastic. Little extra spicy wud hv made it taste better. chicken Briyani was good. Chicken Gravy is missing. Ambience was good . Service was fast enough as not crowded then. Nice experience .

Come Sunday and its time for Mughal Darbar!<br/>Reaching here is pretty easy; its on the main street. Parking is an issue!<br/><br/>We basically came here for the Galauti Kebabs, everything else was just a charade. The restaurant is pretty small to be honest. It initially gives a feel of being a huge restaurant and then you realize that its the naughty mirror that guises the reflection as an extended portion of the restaurant. The interiors are mostly wooded but there is nothing much else to suggest that the place specializes in Mughlai cuisine.<br/>The moment we sat down an attendant suggested we try the fish since its special today. We were a tab perplexed! Mughlai and fish? Never mind nothing could deter us from eating Galauti Kebabs today. We went through the menu just to have a glimpse and with much gusto ordered Galauti Kebabs beaming with a bellyful of hunger. The heavens fell apart when the attendant told us that there were no galauti kebabs today. Honestly nothing else held any interest any more! Sigh the anticipation killed it. Anyhow we ordered Hara bhara kebab and Lasooni Paneer out of sheer courtesy. Surprisingly both were delicious! Hara Bhara kebab though seemed a tad too green but it was yummy. They were served with green chutney and garlic onions. Lasooni paneer was awesome. Both surpassed our expectations to be honest. However, nothing could redeem us from the disappointment of not having galauti kebabs and we fled (of course after paying) :)<br/>Overall:<br/>Food: 7.5/10<br/>Ambiance: 8/10<br/>Accessibility: 7/10<br/>Service: 7/10<br/>Overall Experience: 7.5/10<br/>Would I recommend: Oh yes. I would go there again once and this time with lesser anticipation :)
