Review Rustom Battliwala - Pune

Manasee Kurlekar
This is such a perfect throwback to the Irani restaurants of Mumbai... It is a perfect melange of nostalgia and modern chik... The facade itself is very attractive and welcoming- I decided we needed to eat there the moment I saw it. It is a "all day dining" format, in keeping with the Irani Restaurants tradition. The menu includes Kheema Pao, Patrani Macchi, Jardaloo gosht, Dhansak... And surprisingly, there are veg versions available for the Kheema and Dhansak. All food was uniformly tasty! The texture and taste of the Jardaloo Aloo was quite awesome! We had another traditional parsi Mumbai-nostalgia dish, Lagan nu custard, as dessert. It was flavoured with rose and was garnished with pistachios. A fabulous finish to a very tasty meal! Chef Deepu favours the patrons with his personal attention and recommendations! The only drawback, is that there is no cloakroom facility. (no alcohol is served, but one really does not miss it. It is a must-visit for every connoisseur.

Fantastic experience of being part of a uptown Parsi food outlet. Love how the rusticness is still intact. Went for the world famous Bun Maska and Malai Chai, and hey, none of us were disappointed! Loved the sweet tea and the butter loaded sweet buns! Check out the interiors. Makes one feel very much at home. The Akuri on Toast, Kheema Samosa and the dinner menu is totally rad. Prices are a tad higher, but then, when it comes to indulgence, we all love a little extra for a price. Enjoy #ParsiStyle food, with love and warmth, according to taste! #RustomBattliwala, Majaani Life! 😁😋😍

Great food we tried mutton dhansak , tava prawns and berry pulav. Taste was equal or better than Britania at Fort-South mumbai. You Must visit if u have taste for Parsi food and berry soda drink. Meat is tender and well cooked. Food seems freshly made, Does NOT seem like frozen dish microwaved n given.

High quality food..very tasty and fresh. Nice ambiance too.. hope they take some effort in ensuring it stays comfortable as summer heats up
Maithili Basrur
We had tried their berry pulao and dalcha. Everything was authentic Parsi cuisine. They also serve Ardeshir cold drinks. Took me back to my Bombay roots.

Awesome food and service.. You will experience different taste and not the typical gravy ..Will surely visit again to try other dishes..

Food is great, ambience is good too. But the space is small, about 15-20 people can only be accommodated at a time.
Mamta Bhatia
Tried Dhansak- their parsi speciality for the first time... food is good and the tv display of recipies is very enticing.. food is decent and friendly staff

I have been to this place out of curiosity to taste Parsi cuisine. This restaurant is located at balewadi high street ambience is good giving typical parsi hotel atmosphere.<br/>We had kheema pav it was perfect in taste, second we ordered Bombay chicken biryani the quantity was good and the taste and flavour of biryani authentic. Service was good had a good time here.Highly recomended for good food at reasonable price.

Been there once last month .. not had a good exlerience. Its not a place for fine dine. Food was okay type.. portion qty should be more. Took some persian diahes A small joint. Okay type.

In love with almost all of thier dishes, I have tried only veg things like Salli paneer, berry pulao, custord, kheema paav etc. . The place is very hygienic and clean. The food quality and quantity is remarkable.<br/>Guys do visit at least once.
Priya
Food is nice but quantity is very less compare to the cost. Overall people who loves food with sweet taste can try this restaurant. Will try once again.

I ordered starters such as corn tikki which was good and patra Machi(ok types)<br/>Delhi chap was not at all good, Berry pulao is hard to like if you are biryani guy...<br/>Overall I didn't fell like taste was worth the price<br/>If you have knowledge of parsi food than you can give a try.<br/>Cool drinks chatpola gola and Rasberry drink both were not good

Rustom Battliwala is Parsi all day diner in Pune.<br/>This is located in the Balewadi High Street area of Baner,Pune where there are a large concentration of restaurants and bars.<br/>We were looking for a place to have Parsi food on Navroze and didn’t want to travel into centre of Pune.<br/>This is smallish restaurant more like a cafe with an indoor section and some tables outside. It has nicely designed interiors.<br/>The service is reasonably quick. <br/>The menu has a mix of Parsi food with some popular Indian dishes( Biriyani, Fish Malabari, Fish Amritsari) and a range of hot and cold drinks you would expect in a cafe. But no alcoholic drinks or deserts. It has reasonable range of Parsi food but no Akuri.<br/>The airconditioning was not working on the day we went but it was fortunately pleasant with fans and the front door of the restaurant open.<br/>We liked most of the food we ordered eg Patra ni Machi ( as starter), Lagan nu Patio, and Malabari prawns. However the Vegetarian Dhansak was disappointing ( not authentic; a mixed vegetable curry with brown rice, rather than the typical dhansak daal)<br/>Overall good but not great - partly because of confused identity of the restaurant which trying to be too many things ( Parsi/India/All day diner/ Cafe) but misses key ingredients of each.<br/>Rating is 3.5

In a span of 3 days, I went here twice. Such was the taste of the various rice and soya chaap that this place has to offer!<br/>Had ordered berry pulao and dhansak (both veg). The berry pulao is definitely a show stopper! Dhansak also stands high in the list of tasty dishes!<br/>On another occasion, ordered Patra ni macchi. It was great too!<br/>The Ambience is okay.<br/>Along with the bill, you might also get some 'nostalgia hitting' chocolates!

Raspberry soda is must have and specially Khedkar pav is something I love the most. The ambience is good as well gives you feeling of Parsi restaurant

Great place for authentic Parsi food in neighborhood. Berry pulao is must try. Dhansak is mouthwatering Great service.polite staff. Nice ambience
Amit Aseri
This is a great place for parsi food at this part of the city.<br/><br/>Staff was cordial and the ambiance is nice.<br/><br/>The only I am giving 3 star is because we could not have irani tea as it was not available. Berry mutton pulao was fabulous in taste and I would say it's a must try if you are at this place.
Suyash Jain
It's quite good place to visit and authentic Irani cafe and one will love the place. Less options for veg. But alot of great options in non veg. Taste and service is great. Loved the corn pakoda and veg. Keema pav and paneer bhurji pav. Authentic Irani flavour.
Dr. Atandra Das
Was craving for some good Indian mutton so picked this place. Didn't disappoint. They served authentic mutton dishes which included irani influenced preparations.Tasted really good. Quantity was kinda less though. Service staff were cordial and efficient. Nihari ghosht deserves some mentioning.

I'm a huge fan of Parsi food and was super impressed with Rustom Battliwala. Since this place is situated at my office campus, I've had very frequent visits here. <br/><br/>3 of the items I order every time I'm here are Chicken Dhansak served with Brown rice which is a classic Parsi dish, Berry Pulao and Chicken Bombay Biryani.<br/><br/>I was skeptical about Berry Pulao at first, but the flavor is unbelievable! This is a must try!
Sabhyata Badhwar
We ordered chicken Dhansak. Optimal for two people eating it. Taste was really good, full of flavours. Would love to come here again and try other dishes. Highly recommend this place.
Sushant
Average restaurant.<br/>Bhindi bazaar tawa kebab was not fresh. Not tasty as well. <br/>Berry pulav was not tasty.<br/>Sally ghosh was good but less in quantity. <br/>Portion size is less compared to prize. <br/>Service was good. <br/>Didn't satisfy my Parsi food craving.<br/>
Shardul Pharande
A place definitely NOT made for iced tea! The iced tea was so bad, it made us leave the place and go somewhere else to eat. Couldn’t try the food because the drinks were a major turn down.
Neelu Joglekar
The name sounded very promising because we love Parsi food. However, despite the manager’s assurances, we didn’t find it authentic and were disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was tasty but the dishes we ordered were a mix between North Indian and Parsi. The portions were very small and not value for money.
Sapna Oberoi
Had very bad experience called for keema pav the qyantity was very less not even 1 portion and no keema only peas were ther called for extra pav 1 keema costed me 450 rs which was not worth waste of money

Hello<br/><br/>So today excited I visited this place at 11.00 am with my friend for breakfast. As per Zomato the opening time is 9.30 am. When we reached there a person inside started saying sir chef is not available. We asked him can we wait. He said " Baithke kya karoge ? Chef se contact nai hora. "<br/><br/>We asked will you serve coffee ?<br/><br/>He again said " machine bhi nai chalra "<br/><br/>I completely understand what all it takes to starting a restaurant but I expect chef is an important criteria.<br/><br/>Didn't expect this from a restaurant on balewadi high street.

Food is amazing here, we had ordered Salli panner, naan and dal makhni. Salli paneer is good with paneer being very soft, naan was awesome in taste if you think of breads to order you can go for naan. Dal makhni is very smooth in taste.<br/>In all the food is awesome here ,staff is polite.<br/>I would like to try few more things here 😊
Umesh Athavia
We went to this parsi joint with lot of expectations but were highly disappointed. Most disappointing was Mutton dhansak - the iconic parsi dish. There was no dal in the dhansak which is supposed to be be made of 5 types of dals as a base!. Other dishes were so so. No value for money.
Saurabh
Good food. My favourite is keema Pav n chicken liver Sukha. Always had a wonderful experience in terms of quality of food n taste. Would like to thanks Chef Deepu for their hospitality.

A decent restro in Balewadi High Street. The ambience is quite good but less seating arrangements. The menu is quite interesting but food taste was average. Had ordered Irani Chai, Lemon Soda and Joojeh Tawa Kebab. The Kebab was decent enough, but the chai taste was not upto the mark. The staff is quite friendly and polite over here. The price is over rated for few food items. The food quantity was quite less compared to the price and taste. Overall a new and average experience!<br/>Service-3. 5/5<br/>Ambience-3. 5/5<br/>Food-3/5<br/>Taste-3/5<br/>Price-3/5

The moment you enter in the restaurant it takes you to the old irani restaurant of South bombay. The feel is surreal. Complete nostalgia right from sodas to the mango bite. The food tastes really good. The murgh na farcha and salli murghi is delicious. Desserts are not so impressive. They should include some authentic irani desserts in their menu. I liked it!

Disgusting...WORST..WORST.. Experience..Visited today to have a Tea / coffee in the afternoon around 12:30 pm. Surprised to get the reply from the Manager , Mr. Ravi ( May be relative of the owner ) that this is the time for Lunch and not for Tea / coffee..Amazing Reply, That's what we should Expect from such unprofessional restaurant who dosent care for customers..We Suggested that on Menu, restaurant should mention Tea / Coffee timings as in other cafes Brewerages are available all the time..WORST Part is while we were leaving the Place,Mr. Ravi Pointed by Hand in such a rude and unprofessional manner to leave the Place...Hope the owner of this Restaurant must take this matter seriously if wish to retain regular customers as Customer is the King and have Several Good Options in this Comparative world...NOT AGAIN , RUSTAM BATLIWALA.

We went to this place for the craving of Iranian bum Maska for breakfast. Iranian food has been our fav for a quick Saturday brunch. However Food here does not taste like authentic Iranian food at all. Kheema pav or Irani tea was not very authentic. <br/><br/>I don’t think we will visit again.
Shivani Jadhav
This place has a cute ambience. It is very much similar to old Irani cafes of South Bombay. We ordered berry pulao, veg kheema, Malai tikkis and chicken pakoda. I just had vegetarian food and didn't taste berry pulao and chicken pakoda but veg kheema was simply amazing and finger licking good! 😍<br/>Veg Kheema is highly recommend.
Rahul Bhosale
Food taste is not at all great. Price tags are very high. Service is ordinary. Full marks to the creative presentation of the dishes. Taste is average. You can always get better Irani food Cafe options in other parts of the city than this one. Can be tried once but not really recommended. Cheers !!!

Visited this place twice. Both the times I was famished.<br/>The first time the manager suggested some food which tasted fine.. paneer was surprisingly better than the non veg that my Frd ordered; although the garlic naan was actually overwhelming with garlic...more than their food I kind of liked their service.. infact left a fat tip the first time only face a bad service in the 2nd visit. The 2nd visit was a disaster!after half an hour of placing the order we realised they dint even punch it!! Wasted an hour and more in this unruly place vowed never to go back again !!😡<br/>
Ankit Gupta
Tried the berry pulav... And a few starters.. and liked it.<br/>It's a nice place, good ambience, something different and tasty too. It's more of a 3.5 for me but an extra 0.5 for the courageous attempt to try something new.

So while was reviewing this restaurant I wasn’t really sure how I am going to talk about the food ... but trust me good food is my weakness and yes Rustom Battliwala made me talk for 2hours to talk about their food 🥘 well marinated chicken 🍗 awesomely blended spices and beautiful serving with the presence of Chef Deepu (owner ) who help you with the explanation of the Parsi deliciousness. <br/>This place is must recommended by me . Not to expensive. If I want to try Dhansak again for sure I am visiting this place every weekend ⛱🏖

This place is like the cousin brother of Soda Bottleopenerwala 😛<br/>The Parsi delicacies are very well made and they serve it in tiffins as well. Tried all the famous Parsi dishes like the Mutton Kheema Pav, Chicken Dhansak and Irani Chai. Prices are slightly on the higher side given the quantity served but overall it's well worth a visit.
Mallika Alexander
Ordered mutton kheema pav and mutton Bombay biryani. Kheema pav was very good but the biryani was a let down. It was to spicy that tasted raw too. The biryani was dry too<br/><br/>
Sahil Kanodia
The place was very cool.<br/>Hospitality was excellent.<br/>Food was amazing<br/>It is a place for hangout and chilling.<br/>This place brings a smile on the person entering it.😘😘

Thought of enjoying a good Parsi lunch. Ordered for patra ni machi, berry pulao, keema Pav and mutton dhansak along with few beverages. Keema Pav was good rest disappointed and spoiled the entire mood of an amazing Parsi meal. Beverages again were just ok..

<br/><br/>It’s not often that a rich cocky Sindhi takes a shine to Badass Bawas & their typical cuisine. But when that does happen, you get a little jewel of a joint called ‘Rustom Batliwala‘….Balewadi High’s cutest little restaurant…that’s always, but always, packed to a crowd waiting to devour the Parsi & Irani ‘bhonu’, that it boasts about. Ofcourse, besides this that it’s known for, the menu also has favourites like Malvani Fish Curry, Amritsari Fish & Bhendi Bazaar Kebabs.<br/><br/>As we walked into this place, memories of typical Parsi Irani cafes that we patronized oh so often as kids in Mumbai, came rushing back…the iconic jars of sweets and cookies, the checkered tablecloths, garish stained glass windows, tile patterned floors, icesteam sodas, Ardeshir’s raspberry drink, et all.<br/><br/>And Rustom Batliwala brings back all the thrills …and more!<br/><br/>We were greeted smilingly by Chef Deepu himself, and then began the very typical Bawa hospitality of ‘khavo, piyo ne majha karo’. Distinctly, Chef Deepu’s long association with the Bawas in Pune has rubbed off on him immaculately!<br/><br/>Famished as we were on a Saturday night (the appetite aided to blossom by a few glasses of wine knocked down) we seated ourselves to enjoy yet another good weekend meal… and GOOD it definitely was!<br/><br/>So now, let’s get to the lowdown on the grub… starting with the Bhendi Bazaar Kebabs … soft flavorful creamy meaty balls served with a fabulously made mint chutney, in a quirky shovel type dish…<br/><br/>Followed by the very well made Chicken Farchas…<br/><br/>Patra ni Macchi …. authentic and flavorful<br/><br/>Followed by Jardaloo Mutton ….mutton gravy cooked with apricots. Although this was not as superbly prepared as I do (yea, I do it best!)…it was definitely a must-try! We had it with Lachha Paratha ( as the menu lacked the much needed ‘rotlis’)….which was not the best I’ve had, but went well with the Jardaloo Mutton<br/><br/>Next, we chose to try their Dhansak Dal & the Persian Berry Pulao. The Dhansak Dal was pretty close to perfection and I totally enjoyed slurping at it, by itself. The Berry Pulao was rich, heaving with butter and an absolute delight to a hungry palate! This, too, is a MUST try at Rustom Batliwala!<br/><br/>Now, no self-respecting Bawa forgoes the most important sweet tooth indulgence at the end of a meal…and therefore, stuffed to the gills as we were, the Bawa tradition of ‘mithoo monuu’ just had to be kept. We did it by ordering their Lagan nu Custard.<br/><br/>Guys….it was the BEST Lagan nu Custard I have ever tasted! Yes….better than any Parsi caterer makes anywhere! This was rich & almost sensually creamy and just divine!<br/><br/>“Bau Majha aavi” for sure! Go figure.<br/><br/>If it’s Parsi bhonu you crave….or some Irani treats, seriously THIS is the place to go to.<br/><br/>No alcohol available here, so juice up in advance….and then head straight to Batliwala’s for your food fix.<br/><br/>Once you’re there licking the deliciousness off your fingers, you’ll understand why Bawas make such a big deal about food!<br/><br/>Payt bhari ne jamjo°<br/><br/>

<br/>We went to Rustom Batliwala one evening to enjoy some Parsi food. There are a lot of Parsi cafes in Pune but a very few places that serve Parsi meals. As you enter this place you get the vibe of a Parsi atmosphere with interiors decorated to match that of Parsi restaurant of Mumbai in the early 90's. A billing counter with jars of candies like kissme and mango bite. Placards adorn the walls with quirky one liners that can compete with puneri pattis. The staff was very welcoming and escorted us to our table.<br/>The menu was a delightful mix of Indian and Parsi dishes. The thing that I wanted to try was dhansak which I ordered immediately. The vegetarian variety of course. Another of the dish I was searching for was akuri pav which was served only for breakfast. Our captain suggested us to go for veg Keema Pav which we did. We also ordered for ice cream soda and Raspberry soda.<br/>The sofas were the first to come and they were the ardeshir brand soda. While I do love the ardeshir sofas I expected to get a batch of store made soda. The captain failed to inform us about it at the beginning. The sodas were lovely as they usually are. The Keema Pav came in next. The Keema was made from a mince of Soya and other veggies. The texture and appearance could easily fool the ardent meat eaters to think it's made from meat. The taste was lovely and had ample amounts of spice and that peculiar tangyness of the Parsi food. Dhansak came in next and was accompanied by a side of rice. The rice was fragrant with toastiness of roasted spice and fried onions. The dhansak was good with alluring tangyness. A small side of salad paired well with the dhansak.<br/>We ordered flaming Gulab Jamun for dessert. And they were really good. Tasty, sweet and hot. I ordered an Irani chai which I was told would take more that 15 mins. I did wait for it and it was passable.<br/>The experience at Rustom Batliwala was a good one and is definitely suggested. Would love to visit again and try akuri pav while my wife tries the pastrani macchi.<br/><br/>Costs: a bit over as the serve size is small.<br/>Veg Dhansak: ₹345/-<br/>Veg Keema Pav: ₹245/-<br/>Gastronome's approval: 🤘🤘🤘☝️<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>Follow us on Instagram @the_average_gastronomes

Ambience is true to the name of the restaurant. Parsi/Irani interiors look great. Crazy food. Amazing service. A must visit for foodies. Not one thing bad about the place.
Niyati Purandare
Amazing food, especially the Salli chicken.<br/>Great staff, best hospitality. A must visit place in Balewadi High Street. The Irani chai is amazing too.

Came here for lunch earlier today, it was a quiet Monday around 12:30. We wanted to try the place and the only thing my daughter could have eaten was a cheese sandwich. The manager refused to make it since according to them it’s a “breakfast item” and it was past breakfast time. Almost begged him to accommodate - fell on totally deaf ears.
Vivek Baranwal
We thought twice before visiting this place because of Parsi name of the restaurant. But it wasn't disappointed for us. We loved the decor of the restaurant and food too. We ordered Salli paneer with garlic nan which was something different and delicious compared to other paneer items.
Anjali
Good ambience and had a good appeal however would rate it a one star as it didn't have authentic parsi cuisine. The berry pulav and patrani macchi didn't cut it for us.

Soon as you enter this tiny little outlet in the bustling High Street of Balewadi, glimpses of heritage lights, decor and old charm of Parsi cafes in Mumbai invite you.The place seats around 20 odd and seems a little congested, nevertheless the taste of the Parsi cuisine and snacks makes you forget all that and the foodie inside you wants you to order more and more in the quest of trying out various dishes one after the other. We had - Patra nu paneer, Amritsari fish, Soya chaap,Malai Shikampuri,Jujeh Kebab, Salli paneer, Salli murg and everything tasted fresh and good. Coming to the pricing and quantity, the price charged is exorbitant considering the quantity served. Either the prices need to come down or the quantity has to be sufficient enough for the person to eat with satisfaction. The Tandoori Roti is as thin as papad and does not do justice to the price paid. The Joojeh Kebab I am aware of and as per the pics should be long. The ones we were served were round so I think some goof up must have happened.  My overall verdict -  Good for a 1 time visit . Happy Eating!!

Tried PARSI food for the first time ever.. & I must say I’m not at all disappointed!!<br/>Tried :<br/>-> patra ni machi : its fish marinated in parsi masala and then steam cooked in banana leaf<br/>-> chicken dhansa : it’s parsi style cooked chicken with pulses. Also, served with brown rice. <br/>-> lagan nu custard : amazingly delicious custard sprinked with nuts. <br/><br/>Overall loved the food & parsi experience!!
Bejoy Peter
“Nahi Sir, khatam ho gaya !” - this is their favourite line. Of the menu provided about all of item are “khatam ho gaya”. Why don’t these guys keep stock of food & then start your restaurant ?? It’s hilarious so see the apathy of their waiters when they say “Nahi Sir, khatam ho gaya...” LOL !!!<br/><br/>There’s a lot of scope for improvement. They’ve got a catchy name, fantastic staff & just about ‘reasonable food’. <br/><br/>The quality & quantity of food & beverages can go up on several counts. At large, it’s a fine package; just about the perfect place to call a hectic day off. <br/><br/>Request: please stop serving food in that weird box shaped dabba; it’s a bit annoying !
Zainab Rizvi
Highly disappointed with the food and service. I think this place is only meant for breakfast. Please don't visit if you are looking for some delicious parsi food for dinner.
Agarwal.aruna015
Worst experience ever in pune. Never visit this place. If you guys want to spoil the evening then you must visit this place.very very bad.mocktail was horrible

I am a Rajasthani and non vegetarian by heart. I haven’t had a better tastin Rajasthani laal maas anywhere else but this place. A must go to place specially for that laal maans.

Beautiful ambiance. Beautiful location. And some amazing kheema pav :) That sums up Rustom Battliwala for me.<br/><br/>The kheema is not at all on the spicy side. It's very mildly spiced but very high on flavours. Definitely worth a shot!<br/><br/>Was this best kheema pav I have had in Pune? Probably not..but is this worth going again for kheema pav pangs.. definitely yes :)<br/><br/>They serve nostalgia filled candies and the bill is presented in an old typewriter style. :)
Deb
This a great place to try some authentic Parsi food. The service is awesome and the chef is glad to always suggest you some options.<br/>All the food we tried was awesome. Definitely we shall be back. My only suggestion is that there be more options for vegetarians and additional Parsi delicacies.
Sachin Dulhani
Had a good dining experience with a nice variety of dishes suggested!! The thematic Ambience also set the tone for evening. Would recommend this place for a casual dine out!
Dr. Kiran Balani
If you are not looking for a great ambience, but an excellent taste of a parsi cuisine, then this is the right one! Patra ni machi, stuffed cheese mutton kebab, chicken pakoda are some of the dishes which should be tried by every non vegetarians visiting this place. Disappointed with the quantity though, but overall its a place which satisfied my hunger quite decently!
Sakina Khokhawala
Typical Parsi food served here is lip smacking and just delicious. I would personally advice everyone to try Berry Pulav and Patra ni Macchi!!
Mohd Tabish
The service is good but food is nt irani trust me.<br/>Rate is very high and quantity is very poor.<br/>If you want good irani go to sufi that is much much better

Delicious food!Highly recommended.. value for money and very good hospitality. Ambience is good. Had a very good time. Great food. Location is easily accesible

Excellent Food. Mutton Kheema Pav, Salli Mutton and Dhansak were awesome. Great mocktails with a twist. Superb Hospitality. Ravi - was very helpful. Worth it and value for money as well.

We visited this all-Parsi diner for a quick dinner on a weekend. The place has a nice quirky decor and vibe, and tasty food. Being vegetarians, we had some constraints as the Parsi cuisine specialties are primary non-vegetarian. We ordered Malai Shikampuri and Bhutta Karari Tikka. Both the starters were nice, but the Malai Shikampuri was simply melting in mouth. Other than the food, we ordered Irani Chai, and a Ginger Soda to get the complete feel. The place is pretty affordable considering the whole High Street space, and can be given a go if you are in the area.

Great food, amazing experience, good service, a perfect place to have some Indo Parsi & Irani dishes like Parta Nu Machi, Salli Murg, Chicken Dhansak, Mutton Kheema Pav, Chicken Berry pulav, Chicken Bombay Biryani. Last but not the least Laga nu Custard as a desert... Will visit again with frnds and family...

Located at Balewadi high street. Earlier it was cafe mestizo. They serve Parsi & Iranian food.<br/><br/>Been there 3 times. The food is good but the service needs to improve a lot.<br/><br/>We tried bun Maska and chai, chicken liver Masala and mutton kheema pav.
Ashu Kapoor
A fine sunday evening, random plans and we landed in the new restaurant (Not that new now though).<br/>Cafe turned into a restaurant, still gives the same cafe like vibe.<br/>The first thing we noticed was candy jars full of 🍬<br/>Great hospitality by the whole team, thumbs up to the team.<br/>So we asked for suggestions from the chef and went with the same which were as follows:<br/>1) Patra ni Machi: Fish wrapped in Banana leaf, Didn’t match our style of food but i guess it’s supposed to be like this. <br/>2) Salli Margi: Very good chicken with potato sticks, a different style of chicken and we all loved this.<br/>3) Lagan nu Custard: A very nice finely made thick and cold custard, loved by all.<br/>4) Irani Chai and Masala Chai: Irani chai was on a bit sweeter side however the server did mention this already. We liked masala chai more.<br/>The meal ended with different candies: kismi, mango bites and kaccha aam which gave a smile on everyone’s face 😊<br/>Ratings:<br/>Ambience: 3/5 <br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Hospitality: 5/5<br/><br/>#Update: The overall experience was very good as mentioned in the review, however they were supposed to give a discount of 10% as i booked my reservation through dineout app.<br/>The manager in restaurant was not aware about the offer and said it is supposed to be given by dineout app but it was not true, hence raised a complaint with dineout and they have promised to train them again for future. No apologies or contact from the restaurant.

Amazing place with moderate decor and ambience.. Food was not too commendable but the In-House Mocktails were simply amazing. Do not go for the sodas; they're a waste of money.. All in all, I recommend Rustom Battliwala for anyone who wants to have Mocktails that will blow their minds..

Good food, and a good attempt at creating the 'irani restaurant' ambience. Except for the dhansak dal and the lagan nu custard (neither of which even remotely resemble authentic parsi flavours), the rest of the meal was not bad at all. My personal favourites were Malai Kolmi Ni Curry (very well flavoured and a mild but delicious taste, with prawns that were of a good size and succulently cooked), and Kurkure Bhindi Masala (tasty okra coated in a light gram flour batter and fried so well that they had neither the oily taste nor the heaviness of pakoras). I also enjoyed the Chicken Baffat, Murghi na Farcha, Chicken and Cheese Kebabs, and Berry Pulao with tender pieces of good quality mutton. The patra ni machi was watery today, but I was informed by those who have dined here earlier that they had enjoyed it at that time. If you are a butter lover, ask them for 'pao' - comes slathered with melted butter. Yummm. <br/><br/>A good staff, efficient service, and a happy-feel environment more than make up for the distance that we had to travel to reach Balewadi High. <br/><br/>My suggestions to the restaurant to enhance the 'bawa' experience ---(i) serve saariya, and parsi lagan nu acchar (ii) serve chilled beer (iii) do not play loud, hindi music (this aspect really takes away from the whole experience!!)<br/><br/>Though the name and experience is centred around Parsi cuisine, the menu is by no means limited to that, and Murgh Makhani, biryani, paneer etc. were available for those who wish to eat 'indian' cuisine.

Okay Listen. Bad Choice. Worst choice to go here. The place is not at all fine dine. The staff is humble but doesn't have a clue about the dish they are serving. These people really have to work hard on offering drinks, they have no nice mocktails, coolers, frappes. Talking about the taste it is 2.5/5.<br/>But about the presentation, options, ambience 1.5/5.<br/><br/>Food 2.5/5<br/>Rest all 2/5<br/>

I expect an Irani Tea is available at all time at any irani cafe as its undoubtedly their main beverage. So, when I wasn't able to get one, at an odd time, sure, I was annoyed. Although, we ordered some kind of tiki which was good enough. My ratings will be low till I try their irani tea.

Friend’s birthday celebration. One time visit.<br/>Ordered drinks lemon ice tea, watermelon ice tea something different then regular ice tea. Berry pula one of the prime reason for visiting this place. Panner veggi was okay. <br/>

We went to see the balewadi high street , and found this place . Was not happy with the bhajiyas and tea , even the bun maska were not upto the mark. Prices are high compared to the quality
Adityaverma321
The restaurant was sparsely occupied still the waiting staff did not cater to us for long period, did not even serve us water which is basic table courtesy. Service is very slow, the food tasted very ordinary, hazelnut frappe was just milk and coffee. I had heard good reviews about this place, but my experience was not even close to be called average. The food served here was nowhere close to Iranian or Parsi cuisine. We should’ve ordered bun Maska and tea because their capacities are very limited in terms of quality of food.

Good place to hangout with family and friends.<br/>Food is good in taste but the it is little More expensive place.<br/>Best Irani chai you can get only here.<br/>Taste of onion pakoda is delicious.<br/>Aaloo Samosa is normal in taste.<br/>But the mutton kheema samosa was delicious.

Staying so close by, I couldn't have possibly not tried the place; especially when it's Parsi New Year!<br/><br/>The place has lovely Irani Cafe feel to it. We tried #Delhistylesoyachaap #dhanksak #berrypulao #goldspot and #iranicoffee. I must say each of these dishes were just perfectly made in terms of flavours and how delicious and authentic they tasted! The Veg Berry Pulao and Irani Coffee had aroma that will linger around for long!<br/><br/>The service was great and very courteous, so I will definitely be visiting it again to try out the rest of the menu!<br/><br/>Food: 5/5<br/>Ambience: 4/5<br/>Service: 4/5

I think this is a criminally undervisited restaurant. We went for evening snacks and visited at around 6:30pm. Ordered the butter toast and Irani chai which for ₹69 was a good grab.<br/><br/>I will visit this place for their dinner options needless to say.<br/><br/>Pretty good service and love the Parsi interiors.

Best place for authentic parsi and Irani food..<br/>Must try their Margi na Farcha, bindi bazar tawa kebab. Bun maska and Irani chai is also highly recommended.

This delightful place is situated at the Balewadi Highstreet which is the most grossing place of Baner. The place offers nice options for small bites. The Irani Chai and Bun Maska is my favorite here. Kudos to them for it. It is a must try. The scrambled eggs were delicious. The only non recommended dish here is the Soya Chaap. It was too hard to chew!

Amazing place!<br/>Ambience is on point! <br/>Best parsi food ever, please do have lagnu custard and mutton berry pulao. Meat was very well cooked. Staff was very polite, well trained & service was too good!! <br/>Great experience! <br/><br/>

This place has a nice Parsi feel to it! The menu is nice and offers lots of options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. We tried the Irani coffee, bun maska and malai shikampuri! The coffee and the starter both were really good but we were a little disappointed with the bun maska. But we might come back to visit to try out some of the other traditional Parsi dishes!<br/>

An awesome Parsi food experience. Very authentic good with a quirky bawa ambience. Chef Deepu and his team are very welcoming and connect with the customers well. My parents had an absolutely fab time. A must visit

Small eatery with limited menu..The Veg Kheema was really good... Maybe the Staff needs a Overhaul. Menu also needs to expand in terms of variety
Restaurant Hunter👍.........👎
I didn’t like the place it’s very congested, food was also not good , Bombay biryani was pathetic , even mutton souji was not good, I will not recommend this place for Indian food , no taste at all, good for tea and musks bun but very costly, nothing special ....decor is ok..sorry to say I m highly disappointed......management should hire good Indian chef...

Such a amazing chef and staff. Very welcoming and friendly. The staff is very humble and will explain you every dish with ease. The food was amazing. Small yet perfect for lunch/ dinner. No long waits.

Their food is out of the world. We had Mutton Kheema, Chicken Adraki and Chicken Biryani. Perfect amount of spices and mouth watering. Ambience is nice and vibrant.

Rustom Battliwala: Sojju Khavanu – Peevanu; Majja Ni Life!<br/><br/>I’m a Bawi, which is why when it comes to Parsi cuisine, I’m a purist; no two ways about that. I’m the non-violent type but, mess with my Dhanshak and Saali Boti and rest assured, ‘mein tumhari boti-boti kar dungi’. (Well actually, I’m very angelic – oh come on, please believe me!)<br/><br/>When I received an invite from Rustom Battliwala, my recce revealed the restaurant was headed by a Sindhi chef; Chef Deepu. Quite unheard of! I wondered which gastronomic hurricane I was heading into. Chef Deepu walked in (if I might add, with immense swag – the nice kind) and introduced himself. Within a minute (or two) of talking with him it dawned on me that he knew Parsi cuisine and the culture really well. I knew then, the afternoon was going to be a cool, pleasant breeze; no hurricane hovered on the horizon. 😊

Worst place to be..we placed an order for one Irani chai combo n one masala chai n bun maska..after waiting for 45 minutes, we got one masala chai n bun maska..when we asked about irani chai, the waiter said Irani chai got over an hour back..when we asked why weren't we informed when we placed the order, they apologized..we then place an order for 2 masala chai n kheema samosa..after 15-20 mins we were served with just 1 masala chai..we got irritated n told them to cancel the pending masala chai n give us the bill..they gave the bill which included the amount for kheema samosa which didn't even reach our table..when we told them that we didn't get the samosa, the rude waiter said that he himself had cleared the box from our table..when all of us the table said that u can confirm it from the camera also, then the waiter said he might have cleared the box from adjacent table..overall worst service n pathetic staff..a humble request to everyone please don't visit this place if u wish to save ur hard earned money..<br/>

Waiters confuse our orders and take a lot of time. They themselves do not know what their kitchen has and doesn't have, and they charge for what they don't serve too. It takes all the waiters in the restaurant to clean the table too...

If you guys know where Cafe Mestizo used to be at Balewadi High Street, then at same place now there is this new place called – ‘Rustom Battliwala’. It’s Chef Deepu’s brainchild and he has personally curated the whole menu at this outlet. Not only Parsi food but they do have good offerings from North Indian cuisine as well for example dishes like murgh makhani, nihari gosht, rara gosht etc.

I wouldn't say that this place was a complete downer, but yes it could have been a lot better. The food tastes fine, not great though and the portions could have been better.

One of the best places to visit around Baner. The Dishes here are mouthwatering with a Tangy taste added to it. Must visit with your friends, family

It's an awesome place to spent time with your friends hanging out and chilling. The food is delicious and greatly cooked by Chef Deepu. One of the best around Balewadi High Street<br/>

This place reminds me of SodaBottleOpenerWala from Mumbai. It has the similar concept, Parsi joint and serves good food. Food and Service was good. <br/>We tried Ginger Soda, Lime Soda, Jhinga Tawa Fry, Lacha Paratha, Bombaiya Style Chicken Biryani - all were good.

Long Pending visit to Rustom Battliwala!<br/><br/>So this place has been on my wish list for a long time now and finally I made it to this place yesterday. After riding for 1 hour 45 minutes (in the rain), I finally reach Rustom Battliwala and there I see a server opening the door for me with a huge smile. I settle down and then the server asks me as to what I'd like to have. A confused me couldn't make up my mind and there came Chef Deepu to my rescue. He asked me my food preferences and tadaa...We were all set. Now I was waiting for my food eagerly and looking at the climate outside I wanted to have some pakodas. I requested chef to get me a portion of cheese pakodas and he got it to the table in no time.<br/><br/>1. Cheese Pakoda- The cheese pakoda was so amazing. The consistency was just perfect. The cheese pull was just right and oh how can I miss the green chutney? I'd highly recommend you to try their cheese pakoda.<br/><br/>2. Jujeh Kebab - Jujeh Kabab is an Iranian dish that consists of grilled chunks of chicken which are sometimes with bone and other times without bone. This is one of the most common and popular dishes of Iran. It is common to marinate the chunks in minced onion, lemon juice and sometimes saffron. Now don't go to Iran. Just drop by at Rustom Battliwala and try out this melt in mouth kebab. #HighlyRecommended.<br/><br/>3. Chicken Berry Pulao - The best berry pulao I've had in my entire lifetime. Where were you RB all this while? I've never had a berry pulao which is so good. The rice was perfect and the entire dish as a whole was cooked to perfection. Love love love this one! #HighlyRecommended<br/><br/>4. Dhansak with Rice - The Dhansak was decent. I quite liked it but then I feel I liked the berry pulao better (I know its not related in anyway but still). But no harm in trying it once.<br/><br/>5. Gajar Ka Halwa -  The gajar ka halwa was the bomb. Yeh sardi aur usme garma garam gajar ka halwa. Kya baat hai! And its very reasonably priced fyi. #JerlynRecommends #HighlyRecommended #MustTry<br/><br/>6. Lagan Nu Custard - Let the picture do the talking. This is the best thing ever!!<br/><br/>A big thank you to Dev for inviting me and Team RB for hosting me.<br/><br/>Special thanks to Pempo ( I don't if I've spelled his name correctly) the server for the evening for his awesome service.<br/><br/>#jerlynfoodfanatic

I would rate it as 4.5*. "Best Parsi joint of Pune-West"Parsi food is very exquisite and its a very niche' delicacies that not everyone can play with and trust me I have seen places trying to make good parsi food and flopping badly but rustom battliwala has done a super fine job. They have made the joint in tradition parsi style café and the ambience is very vintage. We were greeted with mocktails which were very refreshing one was "Citra" and other one was "chatpata cola" the citra was more like spiced lime water and was very refreshing and chatpata cola was coke with masala and was very tangy. For starters we tried the "soya chap" "margi na farcha" and "patra ni machi". well the soya chap were splendid and was super tasty, even the onions with were marinated and was super tasty and was totally going with the dish. The margi na farcha as a fried chicken in batter and was heavy with lot of meat. But patra ni machi stole the show. It was fish made in mustard sauce steam cooked in leaves. It was a super amazing dish and was absolutely splendid. For main we had the "berry pulao with chicken" and we had the "mutton dhansak" the berry pulao was something I tried for the first time in my life and it was just amazing. hands down it was super amazing and is a definite must try. The mutton dhansak was slow cooked mutton with flavoured rice and it was equally good. Its a heavy dish and has a array of flavours. For Desserts we tried the "flaming gulab jamun" and also we had the " Lagan nu custard". The gulab jamun was little on the sweeter side but the custard was just hitting the right notes in my mouth. All in all a fab experience. My verdict: do try rustom as it is a one of kind concept in balewadi high street and has a unique menu and definitely try to meet the celebrity chef (Chef Deepu) as he is a gem of a guy and loves to greet his customers with good food and amazing smile.

The food is really tasty. ( kurkure bhindi masala was pleasantly surprising). The ambience is relaxed and mellow. And the service is warm... what else do you need? 😃
