Review Spice Kitchen - Pune

Rutvik Phatak
Great ambiance and the variety of options available in the buffet was also very good. All of the dishes were done very well. The veg and non veg sections were both very good alongside the desert section and the live counter.

I absolutely love the food at JW! And a Sunday Brunch few months back was an amazing experience! Three Things I liked: - The spread of cuisines - Ambience overall - Taste of food!!! At places like JW we pay for the experience as a customer, and Spice Kitchen is a beautiful experience. The Sunday brunch makes for an amazing Date option as well as a great time with friends and family. Definitely a must do!

After numerous dinners at Spice Kitchen, it maintains its reputation as one of the best restaurants JW Marriott has to offer. Excellent food, service, and ambience. We were attended to by Eni and had an absolutely delightful evening, as always.

Wide variety of food items in the breakfast spread including Indian and continental cuisine. Live stations for pancakes, misal as well as south Indian dishes. Can make reservations via phone.

I went there for a dinner buffet with my husband. Well to begin with though it's covid around, proper measures were undertaken. Each and every item there looked delicious. I couldn't forget my delicious pizza ,pasta,my dessert. It was overall a very fine dine experience. It's a little budgeted but I can assure it's worth every penny. The wines there are so good. Would soon visit again

Breakfast buffet has a wide selection including South Indian, made to order pancakes / waffles, pastries and fresh juices. Convenient place to get breakfast if you are staying in JW Marriott - the price of Rs 1500 seems reasonable.

Good food, staffs are good. Loved the experience. Went there for office get together. Amazing ambience. They have great variety of desserts. Mushroom tofu chilli was really tasty. Chocolate mousse was really smooth and loved the slight dark flavour.

Spice kitchen as the name suggest is a kitchen which offer a huge variety of food with spices. It's an amazing place with very good ambience. They serve luscious food, I ordered white sauce pasta & I can tell you I never had such amazing white sauce pasta and it's still on top of my list. The staff is highly mannered and very sweet. There is a huge section of desserts, you will find some startling option over their. Overall had an great experience with the food. A big thanks to the chefs that it was a remarkable visit.

A really good hotel in JW marriott pune. The cuisine is continental (every cuisine). Seating is ample and nice. Their buffet is really good. Food is delicious and service is also great. Ambience is awesome. Their desserts are really really good and tasty. I'd really recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fancy review.

Upscale yet understated, a lovely, luscious eating experience any hour of the day. The lunchtime buffet offers an amazing array of tantalizing choices from many cuisines. Excellent service, though the pizza we ordered at the pizza sidebar arrived a bit later than we expected. Still, the Spice Kitchen is top-tier.

Widespread brunch they had. Delicious menu . The best experience of fine dine . They had continental food which also had marathi menu in indian and that was amazing. Saoji mutton and nihari was just unforgetable.

The size of the pastry was ridiculously
Small !! It was a mini size pastry for which I paid 300₹
Not worth at all !!

Have been here a couple of times and their buffet is one of the best in town. They have a wide variety of food with live stations. Ambiance is outstanding with courteous and professional staff.

Nice place to spend time with friends and family ....little bit expensive but full of taste

One would expect a lot better from a restaurant such as this one! Rejecting order at the last minute and that too without proper reasons - you put yourself in the same class as all and sundry!!

Hey. The vibe of this place is really good, but dined on the buffet spread and something was definitely not right with their food, as I really had an upset stomach for the next 3 days. Nearly missed coming to work the next day considering how bad my condition was. Expected higher standard from the food considering it's a Marriott hotel. Maybe use fresher ingredients going forward guys!

Fantabulous place to celebrate an occassion though a bit expensive you don't return home unsatisfied

Food was okay but I took my one yr old baby with me and he desperatly needed a child care room at the end of our dinner, but we couldn't believe that such a huge hotel dose not have a child care room!! It is a basic need!!
Unbelievable!

Amazing is the only word for this restaurant and food. We have visited this restaurant for breakfast. Very polite and courteous staff they have, they will help you with anything you need even with the customizations in food as well.

i was there on Sunday. food was good but they overcharged for that. there is no ice cream at that time. so many variety in veg and non veg food.it is not worth for money. chicken dishes are so tasteless and less spicy. so it is not up to mark as compare to price and taste.never recommend to colleagues.

We go for lunch buffet..and reached at3:10 and they charged for brunch..and at 3:30 they closed there buffet ..then why they charged for brunch..not expected for such a reputated restaurant..I didn't check the bill at that time..but when I check it feels like cheated..I give 3 star only for ambiance.good staff and cleanliness .but not happy with them.

Had an excellent experience with Chef Rajan. Ordered for vegetarian food with the taste of chicken. Chef did a great job. Service by Sandeep, Shradda and Monalisha (Pasha) was good. Chef Jatin was good too.
Sine I have been visiting the property since last 9 years. The efforts of Kriti at the cafe outside Food Truck is commendable. You will always find her sincerely, silently working and catering to the customers.

The ambience is elegant and so is the food! Enjoyed the meal here and looking forward to visit again.
Great service and sophistication at the restaurant. 💥

I visited this restaurent on Saturday . Excellent food. Lovely Ambience. The only complain we had is we were suggested a juice called Good Juicery. It was horrible. I suggest a hotel like JW stops servicing sub standard juices like that and instead service some quality stuff.. otherwise the food.. nothing to complain);

We were close by and it was late so thought will have a quick bite here and it turned out to be the most pathetic meal. The veg Biryani was so lame and pathetically made that even a small eat out place would make so much better than that. It was dry, the rice had nothing to hold onto plus it had only 2-3 pieces of gobhi and gajar in the name of vegetables that looked like they were lying rotting in the pantry. The decision to never eat veg biryani again was taken immediately that night 😂😂. Dear Spice kitchen- pls make a good try to offer palatable food that you are serving at such a high price, atleast due respect to be given to the price if nothing else!!
We, a team of 12 went for lunch. First and foremost it's really surprising that a star rated place doesn't even provide elevators from a 2 wheeler parking area to the restaurant. One has to walk all the way from outside to Marriott entrance. Seriously???
Ambience of the this place is really superb.
Staff is extremely courteous.
Veg buffet is below average. Not much options in veg. At some places even dish names were missing and people where left to figure out by themselves whether those were veg or non-veg.
As per my colleagues chicken was good. But lamb, fish n prawns were very ok.
Brownie points scored by this restaurant is only in desserts.

Overall I won't recommend this place for vegetarian food.
Our most favourite breakfast buffet place across Pune and Mumbai! We love traveling to Pune to take up a weekend stay at Marriott. We love the property that much. Especially the breakfast buffet. Wouldn't miss it for the world. The spread is huge! The staff friendly and accommodating, the the variety, exhaustive! The buffet timings at 7 to 10:30 so you can walk in tad later and still enjoy a luxurious spread! We make the most of it, right from Dosa options to egg options, to missal pav, pav bhaji, breads, cheese, juices, muffins and desserts! It's all yum!!!

Spice kitchen is a restaurant in jw Marriott which is mainly based on buffet system, the place keeps on doing some innovative stuff for the people and never lacks in quality, the beauty of this restaurant is that they will give you a unique experience with food and the ambiance, the place has a huge spread of buffet which gives you different types of food items to eat and enjoy with your loved ones.

Recently i attended a parsi festival in this restaurant and in this they have kept more than 30+ parsi dishes and each and every dish is made in a traditional parsi way, the subtle flavours, the soft texture will make your palate happy, the place is keeping all the parsi flavours on your palate till 1 sept and you need to really hurry and visit this restaurant for some never before experience with food. The festival will give you all parsi flavours in one roof which is rare and good.

Coming on to the food items which are in the festival

As there are 30+ food items will give you a hint of top 5 dishes of this festival.

1)TATRELO KOLMIMO patio:This was a onion based prawns curry which had mild flavours, the gravy had a slight thick consistency and came good with butter naan.

2)MUTTON DHANSHAK:This was a thick gravy made of masoor dal, tuvar dal and urad dal it had simple flavours with creamy texture, the mutton in the gravy was really well cooked, this dish was too good and flavourful.

3)KHAMAN PATTICE:This was a crispy potato based round shaped dish and was filled with peanuts and raisins, the peanuts gave a crunch and the raisins gave a sweet flavour which made this dish unique and i could not resist myself to take another one.

4)MUTTON PULAO:This was pulao with lots of masalas and flavour of caramalized onions, the rice was most and fluffy, the mutton was well cooked, the pulao had a message had a mild flavour and the accompaniment with it was dal, a parsi dal with subtle flavours came really good on palate and when mixed with pulao it enhanced the taste.

5)KESARI RAVO:This was keshar, milk and rawa based dessert it was topped with dry fruits, the sweetness was balanced and the dessert was smooth this dish was just outstanding.

As the name says it is spice kitchen they have used all the spices in the kitchen and has made all the dishes to give unique experience with food which is important and this what makes a person happy with food and the staff, such things are not easily seen nowadays.
Service--- 5/5
Food------ 5/5
Decor----- 4.8/5

The desserts are the most attractive and delicious part of the menu. Especially the Kulfi is most satisfying.

Not a great service. The food was served cold and the bread used in the bacon sandwich was too crispy and seemed stale. The only thing good about the place is the ambience.

Been here with friends before going to dancing at Miami. Ambiance of the place is real nice. I found the seating kind of odd. Too heavy tables and chairs and if ur at the table for 6 the one sitting i the middle can't move without disturbing anyone. If you are serving buffet then you should make sure the seating is convenient. Desseter were awesome. I loved them. Food was good too but I was expecting better taste.

This is a long long long due review.. i have been to spice kitchen a 100 times and finally am posting this review..my apologies team..
I have been a member at jw for the past 6yrs now and spice kitchen is my favorite food destination. I have always lived the food there and i must say that they have managed to maintain the quality very well. However the reason why we visit this place so often is the one n only Chef RAJAN. He has been so kind n generous and always welcoming that we more often then not come to spice kitchen only for him..( we never come on a tuesday coz that is his off day) thank you chef for making our experience so memorable.
I would rate spice kitchen 4/5 but i gave them a 5 only for chef rajan.
Keep it up team.. and Keep rockin Chef Rajan

Being a 5 star there are some things you take for granted and some things where you expect nothing but the best. The interiors are beautiful and obviously the difference of a 5 star shows when compared to other high end restaurants. We ended up here for their dinner buffet and the food was very good. That said, maybe we were expecting too much, but the food could have been better. I'd like to point out that this is only due to the fact that we were at a 5 star, any other place and I'd be raving about it
Vivek.kajaria
To be honest very very average food quality as per Marriott standards! Slow service and not so good food just ruins the experience here
They need to sort things out seriously and soon

It was all really good.
Eggs Benedict lovely😋
Granola bar ♥️
Fruits - okay okay not bad not amazing either
Mangoshake was wowsome until my colleague found a glass piece in his mangoshake 😑
.
They are investigating the source n all but it was so scary n dangerous. Thank God nothing major happened but that had the possibility of severely damaging anyone.
.
Hope you take care of the hygiene so such accidents can be avoided

I had visited Spice Kitchen for the Chaat street festival at High tea on 22nd of June 2019. Spice kitchen is hosting a Chaat Festival from 18th June for High tea and dinner. Sadly the team did not look prepared for hosting a High tea. There was no one to attend to us and it took us quite an effort to get people's attention. Most of the Chaat items like samosa, kachori dhokla were cold and did not look fresh. Dhokla sadly had flies sitting on it. The festival mentions 5 flavors of pani in pani Puri, but we were served only 2. Looks like their attention was mainly driven towards the dinner and not so much for the high tea. I am sure people going for the dinner may not face this experience
But very sad to say that if you mention a separate event for high tea, you should be prepared for it. Hospitality was not as per standards.
Rating 2 because of taste being good for remaining chat items. Otherwise overall was a very disappointing experience.

We visited them on 20th to celebrate my birthday dinner. We chose to sat on table number 30/1. The ambiance is huge and well designed. We had the feast buffet.

This time they were having chaat festival and the variety they kept was simply great. The spread they are serving is one of the best spread. So, they had huge variety for salads, starters, pizzas and pasta, veg and non-veg main course and mouthwatering spread for desserts.

Also, like to mention one of the mutton dish that's simply taste amazing. They named it as Diakon Lamp, the mutton is so tender and juicy that it will just melt in your mouth

The clear soup they served (specially prepared by their chef Rajan) was the best clear soup I ever had. The noodles that's been used are the famous soba noodles (Japanese) along with lot of shirmps in it.

The service is simply amazing and the staffs were very courteous and humble.

Would like to thanks Chef Ranjan (for the clear soup and for the complimentary chocolate mousse) and steward Deepak for serving us greatly.

Ambiance: 5/5
Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5

Awesome ambiance.
This restaurant fulfills every criteria to spend time with family. Awesome food, awesome staff and hospitality and a healthy environment to hangout.

It’s not a place where you expect good service. It’s a place where you expect laid back staff who don’t want to serve you and don’t know anything about the cuisine being served. Ask them for a drink and they will usher you at any time but ask them to serve at the table and they will make a fool out of you!!! Don’t go for a lunch or dinner!!
Amritt2703
A Five-Star? Totally!
This place has a jaw-dropping ambience, great staff and lovely food. I visited it for my birthday lunch, and there was so much of variety in the buffet.
From chinese to Indian, they have it all.
And to all the desert lovers out there, save extra space than usual because you’ll never have enough of them😍
I also received a customised cake tray as it was my birthday.🥳🥳🥳

A very busybee breakfast scene, and you can see that the hotel prepares well and gears up for the morning grind.

The breakfast spread is vast and the food is delicious. It’s difficult to pick and choose. Besides the regular stuff, what I definitely liked were the podhi idli, pongal, misal, chicken dim sum.

Service is quick and on spot. Definitely a delight for the house guests. Hats off to the service staff here.

I had been to 5 star restaurants before also and i found this restaurant less worthy for money. Staff was less supportive. We have to ask them to each and everything. I had buffet their and food was not upto the mark. They can have more good dishes than they have now. Less worthy for much money spent.
Girme Gautami
Highly overrated...tasteless food...extremely crowded..too slow service(staff is least bothered to have a look on each table)..been to many more 5 star hotels but this hotel just disappointed us..desserts were not up to the mark..sea food was totally stinky..We had been here during BARBECUE FEST but all in vain..Everything was in American Sauce which was not worth trying..Normal bbq hotels serve proper menu as compared to this..rice options:steamed rice n another some kind of rice(not worth remembering)whereas another hotels serve biryani options..Anniversary cake was decent (like we wasted our money only to get this cake😂)

Visited Spice Kitchen last week with my family. Chef Rajan, Chef Kaustubh & others took a lot of effort. Sandeep, Akshay, Chirag & Amit were always alert. Last week we visited Spice Kitchen at JW Marriott. It was our second visit to Spice Kitchen. Both times we had a memorable dinner experience. Though the restaurant was crowded, good service was provided & the food was delicious.
Though some servers seemed a bit disoriented (probably were new), they were extremely polite & well mannered. But one member of the staff (Shraddha Marathe) was extremely noisy and was howling in Marathi in a typical tone, right behind my wife's back for almost the entire dinner. My wife had a headache after the ordeal. I wonder whether such ill-mannered staff suits in a hotel of the calibre of JW Marriott.
Apart from that, we had a great dinner experience. And yes, the desserts were superb.
Vishhal Jaiin
We've visited this place multiple times and always left unsatisfied and disappointed with this place.

Service
Everyone is pretending to be busy. We request for customized dishes from live counters but never got attended in time. After chasing multiple times we get served customized food which we didn't ask. There is no apologies for delay, however, whenever you complain they conveniently say feedback taken just to repeat once again.

Overall hospitality is poor in this hotel and they do not care even if you complaint. I'm a Club Marriott member and believe it was one of my biggest mistake to be a member of this hotel.

Food
Most of the times we experienced buffet food is very average compared to any other five star hotel including their own Marriott Suites and MOMO Cafe.

I highly suggest the chef here should get some training from their other outlets. Even after complaining regarding taste the customised food served is pathetic.

Conclusion
I might visit this place again only for their breakfast buffet or if I wish to indulge in desserts. Rest everything here is average in my opinion. But I highly recommend Shakahari or Alto Vino as food and service is worth it.

Went to Spice kitchen with office colleagues for dinner buffet, excellent spread in buffet and food tasted good. Ambience is nice and things were not rushed. Enjoyed the overall experience.

What a wholesome breakfast spread they had. From South Indian to American, the breakfast buffet had everything. Loved their fresh juices and the pancakes were so fluffy and soft, it almost melts in your mouth. We were so full after trying just 3-4 dishes yet managed to gulp down some artisanal breads and bacon.

The INTERNATIONAL
Spice Kitchen is a super
all day dining restaurant serving international cuisine. I was checking out the spread, when I heard someone enquiring, if I was looking for something... The gentleman introduced himself as-Rajan Kumar Khandelwal, Chef de Cuisine. On an impulse I said I was looking for some authentic local cuisine which I couldn’t spot anywhere. He just directed me to my seat and Lo and behold I was being served with Pav Bhajee and Aam Ras,an authentic Maharashtrian mango shake. The next day we were specially pampered with an exotic assortment of regional cuisine, from Missal Pav to Puran Poli and melting in mouth Modak.
In fact he packed some for the road. As an Au Revoir gesture,a beautiful chocolate etched plate wishing us a Happy Journey along with Alphonso Mangoes was served for us. This was truly a touching gesticulation and cherry on top, (here mango😊),as far as hospitality is concerned.Marriott stood by,true to Indian mantra of Atithi Devo Bhava, meaning Guest is to be treated as God.

5 star restaurant deservedly gets 5 star rating. I really can't think of any con. The food, the service, everything was above par, no complaints. Chicken burger was above par, red cherry chocolate, chocolate muffin and chocolate creation was super yummy.
Hope to visit you again for sure

This review is purely based on the breakfast buffet we have had staying at JW Pune over our past visits.

For our weekend getaways, we love staying here and do look forward to the relaxed breakfasts.

The staff here is quite welcoming and very professional. The spread is very nice. Fresh squeezed juices to fruits to the Oven fresh croissants etc. The egg station whips up some great dishes as per your wish. And of course, if you're on holiday, the waffle and pancake station can't be far behind.

Apart from the buffet, it's the small touches from the staff that just elevates the dining experience.

Would definitely recommend to not only stay at jw, but also definitely partake in the breakfast buffet.

An amazing experience in a fine setting!!

We had organized for a dinner on 14th April at this lovely restaurant. And the experience right rom the get go has been stunning!! With Sumita Dasgupta helping us through the reservation process was extremely friendly and proactive in identifying the occasion and suggesting likely arrangements.

Come dinner time, right through the time to leave, it was a beautiful dinning experience. A big shout out to Sandeep Dhiman, the courteous, proactive and professional manager who went above and beyond to ensure the guests were being served to their expectations.

The sheer vast spread of tantalizing delicacies, leaves you spoilt for choice and stars such as Sumita and Sandeep make this restaurant the wonder it is!! Truly amazing!!

We visited Spice Kitchen for celebrating my birthday last week. The staff was very friendly and courteous and we were very well looked after.
The Head Chef, Mr. Rajan Kandel is an unbelievable personality. He personally visited our table numerous times & confirmed if all was fine & whether we would like to have anything more. The buffet spread is already huge and we were fully stuffed with delicious food. After our dinner, Chef Rajan, Chef Gagan and the team surprised us with a heavenly birthday cake which was meticulously decorated. Manager Sandeep took great efforts to ensure everything went well. We are extremely thankful to Chef Rajan and the entire Spice Kitchen team for making my birthday celebrations truly memorable.

We went there yesterday to celebrate my sister's birthday. The food was pathetic and so was the service. We need to call them multiple times for filling up water and mere things. It is known for its exotic treatment and food, and what we got is absolute bullshit. The noodle soup was so salty that we couldn't take a sip when asked the chef he told me that the water evaporated. So, are we supposed to put water and have it. I have been here before and I have been to other Marriott in Delhi and Mumbai, those properties gave the standards and that's why we visited here. The only dessert which was nice was Tiramisu.

We went there to celebrate my birthday. This property is five star though we never felt that while dinning here. There were hardly anyone near our table to serve us or even rather listen to us. We were calling people for everything asking for water, changing dish etc. The food at buffet counter was kept unattended. The noodle soup was so salty that we can't even have a sip. The veg risotto was all dried up and tasting horrible. We complaint this to the chef, but he said sometimes food get dried up since it has been kept for long. Is this what we call experience of a five star. Aren't you taking customers for granted. After complaint we got a discount but that's not we came here for. Horrible experience and totally unexpected from a big brand. May be it was one of the bad days but we are very disappointed.

One of the best buffet city has to offer ...

Starting from starters to main course and deserts they have number of options including Indian , Chinese , continental....

The hot freshly prepared paranthas along with cutting tea will surely make your day .....

South Indian options were great in taste and omelettes were freshly prepared as per your taste buds .....

The service staff was helpful and available around you to make sure you have a good experience....

One of my favourite places...I've been here for dinner a few times and for breakfast once.

The breakfast buffet offers a lot of choice. You have South Indian, misal pav, breads and bacon, omlette and toast and mostly all other breakfast items you'd know. But what I really really loved were the waffles. These are the most airy, light fluffy, delicious waffles and pancakes I've ever had.

Not really much to say. It's definitely heavy on the pocket but I'd say worth it. Good food, good taste, great variety, super polite and professional staff, spacious seating, good, quick service.

We ordered a bunch of waffles and were pleasantly surprised when our last one came with a 'Good morning' written in chocolate and the whipped cream turned into a bunny.

Only complaint - The cutting chai was made of sugar.

Have visited Spice Kitchen for their buffet meals a couple of times and the place never fails to delight me.
The spread is huge, the service top notch and there's always something for everyone. I'm especially fond of their dessert selection. I've tried buffets all over the city and no one does a better dessert spread.
The cheese counter is another favorite. Absolutely gorgeous blocks of Cheddar, Brie, Edamame, Feta and Lavash sticks. Marinated whole olives, walnuts and prunes are the perfect accompaniments. No skimping at all anywhere. They really do go all out.
A live pasta counter is a staple too. They customize whatever you're in the mood for.
Spice Kitchen also a does a Continental counter which usually features a potato dish, a grilled veggie dish and a few others. Usually I love whatever they put up here.
That's not all. They have several Indian and Asian selections too. If you happen to visit them during a specialty food festival, you'll find several regional dishes too.
Being a vegetarian, I'm barely able to try 40% of the vegetarian menu at any given time. So I'm sure a non-vegetarian will be spoilt for choice.
I will highly recommend everyone try this place for a buffet meal atleast once. After that, you'll be hooked!
