Review Maratha Kolhapur Darbar - Pune

JAY GAVAS
Food quality is good. Tambda rassa is superb. Pandhra rassa is not up to the mark. Mutton fry is also very tasty.

I read recommendation for this place somewhere on the social media and decided to try it, when I was in mood for mutton. The curry was fantastic. Recommended. It is a smallish place on Perugate road. Wasn’t much crowded compared to the place across the road. Menu is simple. Not much choice for vegetarians. Go check them out.

Shambhavi Kolhapur Darbar is a good non veg restaurant. The prices are lower and taste is good. Do try Mutton Alani and Chicken Masala.

A place that gives you the authentic kolhapuri taste within pune. The food here has a homely taste to it and isn't spicy at all. The Sol kadhi cool the palette after a delightful meal... All in all a definite recommend for the originality and the pocket friendly menu !

This is the most authentic & the best place to have Kolhapuri Non Veg Thali (off course with Tambda & Pandhara Lassa). They are all native of Kolhapur and hence zero chances of adulteration.
Their service is so generous & humble that other places can't even match inspite of being a "BIG HIT" amongst true Kolhapuri style Non veg lovers.
I have been enjoying Non veg here since 2006 & believe me the quality/quantity/Charges have been consistent as they not only believe in building business but believe in building relations too in the same Kolhapuri spirit.

I wish them loads of success and great future !!

Does it even need any introductions? Being pure non veg hotel in fairly veg Sadashiv peth, it's been a legend for almost a decade.... Most probably only restaurant where you don't even need to think before ordering- partly because every dish is delicious and partly because you would be so overwhelmed with choices you have, so you probably couldn't think 😉.... Humble ambience and authentic maharatrian non veg taste- Wide variety of thalis as well ala carte menu... And to people hanging with veg along with certain infidelity ( proclaimed eggitarians... Me🙊😝) they do have an excellent anda thalis... They did now introduce veg sabjis most precisely only "three"in menu- shev bhaji, pithala and bharal vang.... But I do recommend sticking with non veg and eggs dishes, they are one of the best in category... Homely ambiance, tasty dishes and easy on pocket too...

Food: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Price: 3/5(225 for the order)
Order: mutton masala, chapati - 3
Hits: none
Misses: none

- mutton masala is extremely strong and high on red chilly.
- pandara and tambda rassa are almost on the mark, slightly runny for me
- simple homely place with basic seating and service

Looked at some of the reviews and decided to try this place. As Kolhapuri thalis in Pune go, it was a complete disappointment. We tried the Mutton Masala Thali and the Mutton Fry thali. Quantity is ok, but the mutton quality was pathetic with mostly bones and very little actual mutton. Tastewise I was unsure what I was eating. The only thing that made sense in the thali was the mutton kheema which was ok. Yes, if someone is looking for an unlimited thali this place may be ok. Prices are low, so I suppose that makes sense. Overall a complete waste of time.

The restaurant is just okay... Nothing much bad about it nor much good. I tried the chicken masala thali... It came with chicken fry, tambda rassa, pandhara rassa, chapatis, rice with fried onions and yoghurt onion salad. All of dishes tasted average. Fried chicken was on better side. It was prepared in a good sukka masala. Overall, the place is just fine, nothing very outstanding about it. May be I will need a couple of more visits to explore it better.

One of the best restaurants for typical Kolhapuri Unlimited thali located in Sadashiv Peth, Heart Of the City, serving mouthwatering Thali, best part is भाकरी, पोळी, दही कांदा, भात, तांबडा-पांढरा रस्सा is unlimited,,😘😘😁😁😁YuM YUM

Horrible food. I don't understand how people have rated this place well! We had ordered the Mutton fry loncha thali and Darbar special mutton thali. Both were served cold. Each dish was cold. They then changed it and served hot food the second time. However, none of the dishes tasted good. The mutton keema was the worst I've ever had. I couldn't eat more than one bite. The mutton loncha was unbearably sour. The mutton fry and mutton masala were ok. Nothing to speak about. The chapatis were soft though. We were very disappointed with the meal.

This is the best place to eat Chicken outside Kolhapur. You can literally drink Tambada/Pandhara Wati after Wati !! Food is spicy but not hot (Tikhat). Quality of Non Veg is superb. Thali is reasonably priced. Staff & Owner is very talkative and friendly.

This place is also clean & neat. Worth visiting again.

Superb Chicken Thali! Go for unlimited one if you have the apetite! It had chicken rassa, egg rassa, mutton loncha(pickle), mutton kheema, tambada pandhra rassa bhakri plus rice!! The rice served had fried onions as garnish..out of the world. Tambada and Pandhra rassa were quite average but Gravy was good. All in all completely worth it! Difficult to locate as not quite a big restaurant. I am suspecting it would be crowded on evenings weekends. Can get family as it has separate section upstairs. Dont give this a miss!

I was on a quest to find the best mutton places in the city, and a foodie friend suggested me to visit this place, and am glad that he did.

We ordered for the mutton thali since it gives a good idea of variety of dishes. The mutton here was perfectly cooked and all the dishes were flavoursome.

We also tried their mutton biryani which was prepared in desi ghee. The rice was delicious and very flavoursome. The mutton was aptly cooked with the right amount of spices. It would had been better if they increase the amount of mutton per serving.

The only disappointment was their mutton alani, which lacked the flavour of the broth.

It was rightly spicy for a kolhapuri style, and definitely a must visit for mutton lovers.

Fabulous! Must visit for any foodie! Great assortment of mutton dishes in their thali. Great rassas. Food has great balance & they stop well short of going overboard with spices.

When I think of authentic Kolhapuri food...I think of this restaurant. Perfect taste..Thali and biriyani are so good, served with Tambada and Pandhara Rassa, a simple place to have a delicious non veg meal, recently they have added limited thali option, which I liked as there is no wastage of food, the food quantity is good..affordable and tasty food, what else do you need....

Food For Thought, Thought For Food
Typical kolhapuri eatery. At the outset let me say that there are better places to have this type of cuisine in and around pune. Not to say that this place was bad or anything. Let me try and rate each item in the chicken masala thali we had
Chapati and bhakri(7.5/10) :- Very well made and of good quality grain
Chicken masala(6.5/10) :- was good but nothing out of the world.
Tamda rassa and pandhra rassa (6.5/10) :- good but not exceptional
Think masala gravy (9/10) :-this was indeed the best thing in the plate very original taste of maratha masalas so cheers chef for this one.
Rice(2/10) :- Partially cooked rice with some weird spices either improve on this or i think in the thali you can exclude it anyways it does not make much of a difference
Final verdict from my side this place is good for trying out once.

Chicken Thali(unlimited) - Extremely oily food. Size of the Bhakri is great. Chicken Kheema is not upto the mark. All I could taste in the Kheema was oil. I could barely feel the thin pieces of chicken from the kheema in my mouth. They were too small and less in quantity. Tambda and Pandhra Rassa were good. Very spicy and oily chicken masala but the chicken pieces were very well cooked. Only 3 pieces of chicken were served in the masala which were not enough for me who wanted more protein. Ordinary quality rice was used.

For people who aren't experienced with unlimited non-veg thalis - Be careful, "unlimited" is a tricky term. They don't serve you unlimited pieces of chicken. I had to buy another dish for more pieces of chicken.

Not a satisfactory experience at all. 😢😢😢

Absolutely recommended for people who like spicy yet tasty nonveg food, especially mutton made in Kolhapur style. Place is the perfect example of a no-frills restaurant where focus is on food. Place is neat and clean, service is prompt and courteous. We had gone along with a Canadian national who is used to eat spicy food and he was absolutely delighted with everything. I am a big fan of this place since a long time and this is the place for me if I feel like having Kolhapuri nonveg. Menu has options of unlimited and limited thalis. About the food, you have to come here to taste the nonveg made in authentic kolhapuri masalas, a mere description is not enough. Overall a fabulous place for an authentic nonveg kolhapuri meal.

The Best Kolhapur style nonveg in Pune. The reason I say so is the quality of meat they serve. I usually opt for Mutton Thali and Mutton Biryani. They choose their meat well and hence the food is excellent. add to it the mastery on taste not making it too spicy but balanced.
Ordered special unlimited thaali... there was nothing special taste in it... average taste... congested place... average service... and cost is also justified according to taste...

Visited for the second time tonight. My visit was 4-5 years back with my friend. At that time we liked the food. So we decided to revisit it today. This review is for today's visit.
We ordered two chiken masala thali.
It had many things, I started with
1) Pandhara Rassa: it was good but not much pleasing.
2) Tambada Rassa: It was way to spicy. Taste was average.
3) Kheema vati: It was a bit tasteless.
Actually extra spicy gravy and tambada rassa, blunted the taste sensations.
4) Chicken masala: Chicken pieces were good, nicely cooked. But gravy was again way tooo spicy. So it destroyed the overall taste of the dish.
They had option of bhakari and chapati. I opted for chapati.
Ambience was average. Being summer it was a hot place, moreover, spicy food made me sweat a lot, thus throughout the diner I sat with handkerchief in my left hand, mopping my face. Fan were also ineffective.
So overall an average place with over-spicy food.

Sometimes you visit the place because your friends suggested it and they loved it.
Food: Average Kolhapuri Thali, Poorly cooked Chicken. tasted liked pre-cooked chicken added in Curry.

Service: 3 of 5, Just eat and go.

Ambiance: Below average, too hot in summers. Missing ventilation.

Average food overcooked meat average test small space, place oreder from there own thinking
we orderd normal meal they charge us unlimited meal rate with normal meal,
Pathetic arguing by staff and management

One of the best kolhapuri thali I've had in Pune.
Ensure to go empty stomach to this place for a roller coaster ride of spicy food. Don't forget to drink thambada pandhara rassa (unlimited with thali).

Thali options are Chicken & mutton sukha thali, masala thali and special thalis. Both Sukha and masala thali are total value for money (chicken thali under ₹250).
