Malwani Solkadhi was operating in Karvenagar area under the name Solkadhi which later shifted to Sadashiv peth area with a new name i.e Malwani Solkadhi. They are operating for almost 2 decades now. #FoodTasting. Bombil Rawa Fry [Rs 200]: Bombil with crispy coating and flavourful marination was superb in taste and were fried to perfection! #Musthave Prawns Rawa Fry [Rs 290]: Around 8 medium sized prawns with rawa coating was crispy on the outside and was nicely fried, it wasn’t oily at all however the marination had very mild flavors. Tandoori Pomfret [APC] : A medium sized pomfret marinate with tandoori masala along with ginger garlic paste was excellent in taste. It was well cooked and the medium spicy marination was full of flavours. #Highlyrecommended MS Special Thali [Rs 550]: The thali option of surmai / pomfret fry, bangda curry, kolambi sukka, biryani rice, sukat portion, coconut chutney, option of roti / chapatti / tandalachi bhakari / kombadi wade. 2 pieces of tawa fried surmai were done to perfection, nice marination. The bangda curry was medium thick in consistency with burst of flavours, loved it! The kolambi sukka was a stunner, one of the best kolambi preparations which I have had, sukat portion was medium spicy & slightly moist which was also good in taste. We opted for tandalchi bhakari which was freshly prepared and was served hot. They also serve a portion of fish curry which is thin in consistency, trust me it was exceptional in taste. I haven’t had something like this before. This thali is indeed a must have and has lots of seafood variety in it. #TooGood Mutton Special Thali [Rs 400]: The thali had mutton sukka, mutton curry, portion of Mutton Biryani, Mutton Kheema, Tambada-Pandhara Rassa, Solkadhi, option of roti / chapatti / tandalachi bhakari / kombadi wade. Mutton Sukka portion had a delicious thick masala with well cooked mutton pieces in it, the mutton curry was thin in consistency and was flavourful, the mutton kheeema was excellent in taste with finely minced mutton and had a slightly smokey taste, the kombadi wade were nicely done and were served hot. Pandhara rassa didn’t impress me, it was thin in consistency and was lacking flavours. We skipped mutton biryani portion as we were almost full. The mutton thali is also a good option and worth the price. #Recommended Solkadhi: The solkadhi was thin in consistency, was slightly salty and had strong flavours of kokum agal. It didn’t suit my tastebuds. Feedback was shared with the owner. Overall: In spite of minor concerns Malwani solkadhi did impress me and I strongly feel this place is worth the visit. All dishes are medium spicy, presentation of all dishes is pretty simple yet its inviting! Pricing is reasonable and restaurant was hygienic. The owner Mr Gaurav Dange was open to feedback and suggestions and he was a perfect host. Thanks a lot Team Malwani Solkadi for hosting us. I recently had the pleasure of dining at "Solkadi", and I must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a memorable evening, and the culinary journey that followed was nothing short of exceptional. We were welcomed with a refreshing glass of Solkadhi, a unique and delightful appetizer that instantly set a positive tone for the meal. The perfect balance of flavors in this traditional welcome drink was a wonderful introduction to what turned out to be a culinary adventure. For our main course, we indulged in a trio of dishes - Pomphret fry, Kolambi Masala, and Chicken Biryani. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to delivering a top-notch dining experience. The Pomphret fry was expertly prepared, with a crispy exterior giving way to tender and flavorful fish. The Kolambi Masala was a true highlight, showcasing the freshness of the prawns and the aromatic blend of spices that elevated the dish to a whole new level. The Chicken Biryani was a masterpiece in itself, served with the delectable "tambada, pandhara rassa." The biryani was fragrant, with perfectly cooked rice and succulent pieces of chicken. The accompanying rich and flavorful gravies added an extra layer of indulgence to an already outstanding dish.

Malwani Solkadhi - Authentic Malwani Cuisine Visited this restaurant for a dinner with friends. I came to know that they are operating this restaurant for quite a long time. Earlier this was in Karve Nagar. Now, they shifted to Tilak road. Here's my review of the dishes I tried. - Rawa Kolambi Fry: These are fried prawns with marination consisting of rawa. Prawns were fresh and tasty. Outer coating of the prawns was crispy. Highly recommended dish. - Surmai Fry: Tried both tawa and rava surmai fry. Surmai fish was fresh. Masala was uniform. It was good. - Chicken Tandoor: It was very nice surprisingly. I was not expected chicken to be so nice at fish restaurant. But they have made it very good actually. Chicken was fresh and tender. Tandoor was roasted perfectly. - Kolambi Masala: Taste of the masala was perfect. Not that spicy but it was up to the mark. Prawns were tasty as well. - Kolambi Curry (Malwani): This is prawns curry.It was very nice. Once can judge the dish by having a sip of it. The curry consists of coconut along with amsul (kokam fruit). The taste of amsul makes cury very interesting. - Chicken Thali: This consists of chicken curry, chicken fry, chicken kheema along with alani, solkadhi and the special kombdi vade. Taste of each item was perfect. - Solkadhi: Perfect dish to end your meal with. This is made with amsul and coconut milk. Taste was perfect. No artificial colour which is good thing. Service is prompt and quick. Staff is courteous. Seating is comfortable. Don't expect much from ambiance. It is simple and good. Four wheeler parking is not available at the resaurant as it is on the busy street with low space. However, two wheeler parking is available. Overall, very good option if you want to try out authentic Malwani cuisine.

All dishes are extra ordinary good. Perfect taste n reasonable price.

The place not cozy but if you want to try some authentic Malvani Dish, then this is a place you should be. It's lot cheaper then other Malvani hotels in pune like Fish Curry Rice. We were 3 of us, our stomach's were just on the verge of getting burst and we ended up paying only 1100 bucks.

Reasonably priced, tasty and fresh fish & Prawns. Nice & cosy place The owner is also very enthu and energetic & goes out of the way to keep his customers satisfied. We have visited this place many times & have never been disappointed.

Tried their Prawns(Kolambi) Thali and I must say it was good. The prawn curry was a perfect blend of flavours and stayed true to its malwani style. The quality and quantity of Prawns served was also good.

Solkadhi was my goto option for nonveg in Pune. Situated in Sadashiv Peth area, is good for sea food and konkani chicken curry. Biryani they serve is also very good in pot. Off lately in my visit I was served stale chicken which is against their reputation may because I visited early morning at 11:30 PM. Rest do opt for Tandul Bhakri.

Ordered chicken sukke thali from zomato app, found curry and tambda/pandhara missing. Food quality was not up to the mark. Zomato should review the hotel's on its platform, you cannot compromise food quality/quantity due to discount offered. I hope some action will be taken.

Nice place for chicken and seafood. I have tried chicken sukka and pomfret thali here along with solkadhi. Taste and service is great. Fish fry wasnt marinated neatly but rest of the stuff was nice and even fish was fresh not frozen one. Okay so my dad *loves* sea food and we actually decided to go to one of our favourite sea food places but saw this place in the suggestions and after reading the reviews thought of giving it a try and don’t regret it one bit.<br/><br/>Ambience-This is a small hotel with 8-10 tables and the kitchen is on the upper floor.<br/><br/>Food-<br/>1)Tandoor Pomfret- The fish was quite big and fresh. I loved the taste. It was tangy with a hint of char grill. <br/><br/>2)Chicken Banjara Kebab-The chicken was cooked to perfection. It was a bit spicy and was drizzling with cheese. This was a good starter as well.<br/><br/>3)Prawns Masala with Kombdi Wade-<br/>Loved how perfectly the prawns were cooked. There were about 8-10 prawns in the curry which was a good quantity for the price we paid. It had a thick gravy and the taste was pretty good.<br/><br/>4)Prawns Biryani-Loved this dish as well. It had the correct mix of all the spices. The quantity was decent and had sufficient number of prawns. <br/><br/>5)Solkadhi-This was the only thing we didn’t like the reason being, the solkadhi was very cold and it was pretty average in taste.<br/><br/>Staff- Staff was polite and welcoming.<br/><br/>Cons-The drawbacks of this place are that the solkadhi can be improved and also, they don’t provide mint chutney. Honestly I have been taking reviews from food bloggers in pune with a grain of salt. But this deserves all the praise it has been given. We ordered the ₹550 Malwani special fish thali, and as you can see how tempting it looks. The thali was worth every penny. I was concerned with the quantity but it really exceeded my expectations . this thali will fill you up on an empty stomach easily and the flavours will explode in your mouth. The tawa fry surmai was spicy and fried to perfection. The sukat chatni is the best in any seafood restaurant I have tried, even in my native malvan. Kolambi suka was just damn tasty Kudos to the chef. The biryani rice they say is actually the long grain basmati rice, it's not flavoured as i expected it to be. Don't look at the price of the thali and get scared its honestly worth your money - coming from a person who spends only upto 300 on his lunch.

Best place to cherish sea food dining. The restaurant ambience was quite well. Visited yesterday for my sea food craving, and found very satisfied and peaceful meal over here with affordable rates. Must visit specially for sea food lovers.

Malwani solkadi is a small pretty place located in sadashiv peth,as the name says they place serves malwani cuisine all the masalas used in the preparation of food are brought from malwan,this is done to keep the standard of the original malwani taste,the place has a huge menu which gives you lot of options to choose and you can have a great meal.<br/><br/>Coming on to the food items which i tried here:<br/><br/>1)PRAWNS RAWA FRY:Crispy fried prawns coated with rawa,the prawns had a thick coating of rawa and were so good fried that they didn't had a single drop of oil on it with a good flavour of prawns.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED<br/><br/>2)SURMAI TAWA FRY:Surmai marinated in malwani masalas which has a dominating flavour of amsul,the fish was fresh and proper marinated the flavours were coming very well with a hint of amsul.<br/><br/>3)KOLAMBI MASALA:This was prawns in thick masala with a nice flavour of amsul,the prawns were very well cooked and tossed in masala and came really good with the chapati the quantity served was enough for two people and the taste was just good.<br/><br/>4)CHICKEN WADE THALI:This was a whole thali consisted of crispy fried wade,chicken sukka,chicken curry,chicken kheema,solkadi,each and every dish in the menu was very well prepared with unique flavours and taste,the chicken sukka had a little spicy taste,the chicken curry had a thin consistency with a mild flavour,the chicken kheema was very well minced and well cooked and suprisingly moist,the solkadi had hint of amsul which enhanced the flavour of the solkadi.<br/><br/>Top five reasons to visit this place:<br/><br/>1)The place serves original malwani cuisine which is very rare.<br/><br/>2)The place serves enough quantity of food which makes it a filler.<br/><br/>3)The place brings all the masalas from malwan which gives you the flavours of malwan in Pune.<br/><br/>4)This place is pocket friendly you don't have to spend a huge money to eat good restaurant food.<br/><br/>5)The place does quick and accurate service your food will come to you in a very less time.<br/>

No artificial colour which is good thing.<br/> <br/>Service is prompt and quick. Staff is courteous. Seating is comfortable. Don't expect much from ambiance. It is simple and good. Four wheeler parking is not available at the resaurant as it is on the busy street with low space. However, two wheeler parking is available.<br/> <br/>Overall, very good option if you want to try out authentic Malwani cuisine.

Guys do not order from this restaurant. Many times it show delivering order and when we place order with this restaurant we have to keep on waiting and after 30-40 mints we come to know that this restaurant is closed

The best place in Pune city if one wants to grab a good malwani food. Fresh and good quality seafood. The best dishes I would recommend is rava fried shrimps, tandoor surmai, tandoor pomfret and solkadi. Value for money and. Good service.

I visited this place on 23rd Feb evening. It's a small place with 8 tables. Neat and clean.<br/>Waiter explained us properly about fish thali variety. He also suggested us tandoor fish.<br/>We ordered 1) baby surmai tandoori, 2) pomplet thali, 3) kolambi masala thali, 4) ole bombil fry.<br/>First of all, fish was very fresh. Tandoor masala stuffed properly, also coocked properly in the tandoor. It was nice crispy outside and soft inside. Taste was really upto the mark.<br/>Kolambi masala and pomplet also prepared authentically with malvani masala. Ole bombil was deep fried. It was ok. Not upto my expectations.<br/>It's a good place for fish lovers definitely.<br/>Food quality, taste and also service is very good.<br/>Definitely visit again.

The restaurant was famous for serving Malwani style food at a reasonable price. It was highly known for Fresh Fish preparations and the quality is still same.<br/><br/>I've visited the old one as it was near for me and the new one also keeps the promise of serving the best food in the area. Let's get into food then -<br/><br/>1. Tandoori chicken - They've recently started with tandoor preparation and as per that the tandoori chicken was good. It was cooked perfectly and wasn't dry overcooked. However, the marination was a little bit salty which I didn't like. Other than that the tandoori chicken was good.<br/><br/>2. Tandoori Surmai - Fresh juicy fish with enough marination on the coating. The tandoor marination was good and went perfectly with the combination. The tandoori spices is an ideal combination for soft, juicy fishy taste to balance out the flavor.<br/><br/>3. Prawns masala - It's their USP and I highly doubt that anyone can serve masala as they do. Perfectly blended masala with all the balanced equal taste of spices, the masala is medium thick and wasn't dry at all. Medium sized soft prawns were tossed in the same and given with bhakri. Worst experience..we wanted to order Surmai fry but nobody was present to receive our order..after 15-20 mins waiter came to our table but he was not aware about Surmai fry when we asked about the dish..(basically i wanted to check if its a rava fry or masala tava fry, how much pieces in single dish etc.) he went and sent some other waiter and he explained us about the dish. <br/>After considerable waiting time, they served us Surmai fry without chutney without lime. Also fish was feeling like eating any rubber body...it was certainly not fresh fish. Thats it..we did not dare to order rest of the food.

Awesome food and awesome solkadhi. Very satisfied with the food. I used to visit this restaurant when it was near karvenagar area. Got to know about this accidentally searching for malwani food and we were overjoyed to see our old joint at new location. Vegetarians can also relish the simple yet tasty food here.

I took a parcel last night prwans rava fry... First of all they gave me wrong order instead of rava fry they gave me prawns msl... And second thing it was worst...it was'nt fresh at all.. It was stinking like anything the foul smell made me to vomit...i was on my way to mumbai so i could'nt do much... I would not recommend this restaurant at all

We went for a friend's party here. The place is small. But serves amazing food. Here is a list of items we ordered. <br/>For starters we ordered <br/>Surmai fry-rawa and tawa. Rawa comes with rawa coating and tawa is with masala. It was good. The fish wasn't so soft. I think it was over fried. <br/>Bombil fry- this was good. Subtle and soft.<br/>Chicken chilli- this was a bit sour<br/>Paneer chilli- this was good. <br/>Main course was my favourite part.<br/>Chicken masala- this was really very tasty. Loved it. <br/>Chicken handi - this was yum too.<br/>We took chicken biryani and kolambi biryani. Both of them were very good.<br/>Solkadi was served in earthern glasses. Loved it. <br/>All and all this place is worth going.

We had the fish thali with pomfret and prawns thali. Prawns were very good. Pomfret was ok, but can’t complain. Best thing was, they prepared the fish fry and curry as per our taste/spice preference (less spicy). Solkadhi was pretty good too.

I came to know this after having a meal at Hotel Malwani Solkadhi . Malwani Solkadhi was at Karve Nagar before they've shifted here one  and half year . This restaurant was well known and popular in karvenagar and was seving customers for more than 15 years straight . The customers were used to wait in queue on weekend at karve nagar restaurant . <br/><br/>The restaurant is run by Dange family which from starting . The previous owner and father of Gaurav dange is foodie like us and started this one due to he's love for malwani cuisine .  Gaurav then took over the restaurant business from he's father and he's now running it . The restaurant is in heart of city , in Sadashiv peth where all the legendary outlets are . The traditional thali system is served here since start and they've continued with same . You can ask for dish items which they keep for day's special which are good too. The prawns were fresh . The prawns masala was the perfect thing to try with kombi wade it really compliments the semi gravy dish . The masala was delicious had lots of flavors . sukat chutney is something which a die hard sea food lover will definitely love it . The intense flavor of fish with lots of other ingredients makes it sea food lovers dream. Komdi wade was good and did like it a lot.<br/><br/>3. Chicken Thali - My friend had chicken thali and he loved it. A chicken thali consists of lambda pandhra rassa which is something you can not miss, chicken kheema vati, chicken sukkha, chicken curry and chicken dum biryani. All things were perfect, especially the meat was cooked perfectly and flavours intact to the gravy which made us try chicken also. Tambda pandhra rassa is to die fore dont forget to order when you visit.<br/><br/>4. Solkadhi - when it comes to malwani cuisine then solkadhi is the beverage you must have to try . The solkadhi we had here was pretty near to the authentic one . It was meidum spicy with thick texture of coconut . It had a small amount of sweetness of coconut milk . This drink really makes you order one more for sure .<br/><br/>5. Surmai Fry - Surmai fry really made our dry . Sea food really doesn't need mariantion or any seasoning like chicken and other things as its tasty originally . The surmai fry was superb . The marination was right on point and it covered all the outer layer of fish where the inner flesh of fish was fresh and juicy . The combination of medium spicy marination and juicy flesh was really good. I loved it .<br/><br/>6. Pomfret Fry - You can check in picture how beautiful this dish was . Again same mariantion with different fish but this time it was bit spicy which i personally love it . The extra spicyness made me eat this fish alone . Friends tried one bit but other than that they didn't get chance to hog onto this one .<br/><br/>7. Dum biryani - Whenever I go for biryani I check 4 things in it . The dum , masala , meat and rice  . Most of the times the meat remains undercooked where surprisingly here meat was cooked perfectly , it had perfect dum , the aroma of spices . The masala was bit different but tasty and rice was cooked perfectly . You always taste something different in biryani when you visit restaurants . Where Masala for me was different here . <br/><br/>=================================================================<br/><br/>As it's maharshtrian cuisine , it was the best experience for me so far for malwani cuisine . I love sea food and when it has prawns then I just cant resist . The food was great , owner personally ask you for your spice preferrance and he helps alot with the menu . Its  definite place for all sea food lovers if you love to have malwani cuisine . Comparing the rates they are reasonable , you get best quality food for reasonable price . It reminds you of malwan which is important .

Soulkadi was good. A little less salt would be my recommendation. But the good part is it’s not the packed solkadi but a real one. It’s good not excellent

Ambience and service was quite good. We tried there bombil fry, chicken sukha and prawns rawa fry for starters. The fish was fresh and soft. For main course we had chicken, sp. fish(surmayi or pomfret) and prawns Thalis. You can choose what kind of bread you want, like rice/jawar/bajra bhakri or komdi Wade or chapati. The food was really awesome. I love it. Their solkadi was surprising. It was worth visiting again. Will visit again surely.

V tried Surmai thali which comes with one rava fried Surmai piece, Surmai fish curry,coconut chutney,solkadi,rice nd there is an option for choosing either kombdi vada,bhakri o chapati.V also tried kolambi rava fry which was a not to d mark.needed to b cooked for some more tym.<br/>The fish served here is totally fresh.but can't say that it was totally authentic m malwani but did met my expectations.<br/>Ambience nd service-its a small outlet but makes u feel comfortable.<br/>I must say my foodie soul was satisfied😃

Quite good quantity and the curry is tasty.<br/>Fried fish is not oily. Bhakri is awesome and melts in your mouth. Overall never had such good quality food in so competitive prices.. will definitely visit again.<br/>

This is one of the best places that I have been to in terms of fish and non veg food. They have very authentic food. We ordered one pomfret thali one chicken thali and extra solkadhi. Everything was beyond expectations . Chicken had a very distinct taste with some extra lemon into it . Fish was authentic and fresh . Solkadhi is one of a kind . They made solkadhi on the spot and it is given in earthen pot. It's not readymade . Rates are very average for fish . Ambience is good. Service was excellent . Owner is a good guy . On cost side it costs us around 450 for two people . For fish and chicken lovers a must go .

I guess the pomfret was stale.. it was smelling unusual. Bombil fry was good to taste.. n chicken matka biryani was nice. I would suggest you people please check the freshness of whatever you are offering.

Had dinner yesterday. It was pocket friendly and excellent. Their pomfret Thali was tasty and nice. And for the price it was too good. One should even try their sukka mutton Thali with bhakri option. It is a place worth visiting again. Only drawback is is that the waiters should be given a uniform.

I tried the Malwani Special Thali and taste of Pompret Fry and Bangda Curry  was very nice.  Specially Bangda Curry was awesome . This is my 2nd time to visit the hotel . 1st time I have ordered Pompret  Thali , which was also good. Rates are reasonable and value for money restaurant . Will visit again

Located in the bustling sadashiv peth, this restaurant serves fish thali which is not at all authentic. It will not let you discover the taste of goa or konkan even by a fraction. The fish were not so fresh and the quantity is also not upto the mark. The quality of the curry needs drastic improvement. The ambience is also not too good. Overall a disappointing experience.

We had been to this place last night with some friends and the food was awesome. The service and quality of fish was so good, it felt like we were visiting kokan. <br/>I had ordered mutton kheema thali which was scrumptious. <br/>And so was sukka chicken, bombil and surmai thali. <br/>The solkadhi was served in pretty brown clay mugs, and it was absolutely amazing.

Don't go by the name of MALWAN, has no taste of Malwan at all...Ordered for parcel veg biryani and chicken matka biryani...taste was very average..we ordered chicken matka biryani but we received regular chicken biryani and later I found one chicken piece in my veg biryani...so from my side big NO for this restaurant

I accidentally tumbled over this place craving for fish .. so went over for lunch and wanted a konkani fanfare.. I tried the surmai fry thali.. the whole thali was just amazing.. sumptuous and generous .. the flavors were really good.. I believe now Fish Thalis if konkani then are my favorites now ! Should should definitely try and rather than small serving of Sol kadhi take a whole glass of Sol kadhi !!!

We visited today for lunch and ordered surmai fry thalis. Fry fish and fish in curry was good size and fresh <br/>Taste was good. Worst Seafood I eve tasted. They serve steal food. Pomfrets were not at all fresh appeared at least 2 days old.  Quantity is not adequate and beware of ordering as you would get a head piece of fish as the only piece served. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

Malwani solkadi is possibly the best place in pune for last 7-8 years and the food quality is consistent forever...You must try there Bombil (Bombay Duck) fry...Its like heaven.... Hi, I have been visiting this place for almost a decade now right from the time it was in its old location. Solkadhi serves the best chicken Thali in the town. Must try items are Chicken Tat, Surmai Rawa Fry and the Solkadhi... Special thing about this place is its value for money, the rates are really low as compared to the quality and quantity. A must visit place for Non veg eaters.

Me and my wife visited this place because we wanted to give a try to some new place which serves Malwani food . Being a eggitarian , I only had to order an egg thali and I found it to be really great ,. I had ordered the Kolhapuri version of their Egg thali (costs Rs 10 more than the regular egg thali) and I loved the different taste . It was really a good one :)<br/><br/>However my wife didnt had a great experience with her Surmai Thali , the fish was not that fresh and the prawns were also not worth it . It was just ok . <br/><br/>I would like to visit it again to eat my egg thali (kolhapuri) , but not for the Fish or something else .<br/><br/>Also note that this place a bit hard to find . Its on the parallel road to the main karvenagar road

The place is for sea foods. all are awesome. weather it is surmai fry or prawns fry. prawns spl thali is a must rs 200 only, service is good but tables chairs are outdated but it dosent bouther ur test. negative is non ac and outdated ambiance. food is cheap and best.

Very Good Malwani Food, The ambience could be better, but who cares when the food is so wonderfully prepared, Mutton Kheema well minced with perfect spices, Their Malvani Wadas are also very delicious, Tried their Surmai Fish which was prepared rawa and fried and it was good, could have been a little coated with spices.. The food is less oily compared to other Maharashtrian Restaurants’, Their Sol Kadi was also very well balanced with the right amount of coconut milk and kokum. I would definitely recommend people to visit them for a good Malvani food experience, their prices are also very affordable, definitely will visit them again!

The food variety and quality is good for the reasonable prices they ask. It's a very good place if you want a quick change from your regular tiffin of roti-bhaji. The place is typically what would qualify as a 'joint' rather than a restaurant, although the fish is fresh and the chicken too is tender.<br/><br/>The bangda fry is excellent and mandeli fry, fish thali and chicken thali are all worth a try. Note that my review could be biased because this is the fish joint I frequent, so I've grown to like it!
