Review Chotiwala - Rishikesh

ER.PRANAV JAIN
Best food service with taste they are providing. One of the best things is you will get jain food as well. There are two chotiwalas but both are almost the same. Mr. Gaurang is the best person to talk and let you know about the history of him and as well as the restaurants.

Situated In walking route for ramjhula. Person is sitting infront of restaurant with complete makeup and Bell which is really amazing experience. They have multiple food option. Something different experience must visit to see the person sitting person.

One of the well estaished family restaurant near Sivananda Ashram, on the bay of river gange. This is a veg restaurant, price is average, food is good. You need to climb stairs to reach to restaurant.
Rahul Chandrashekar
One of the popular joint in the town. There are 2 restaurants adjacent to each other run by 2 brothers. The restaurant offers all varieties of vegetarian dishes including South Indian, Punjabi thali/dishes, Gujarati Thali etc. The service was quick and the North Indian dishes taste good. South was alright but the Chinese were not so good. But for the available options, this can be one of the best.

Food taste was great. But prices are bit high as compare to other nearby restaurants. Food quality is good. Service is little slow. They don’t have the thali mentioned in menu. I was searching for thali and end up ordering from Γ€ la Carte.
Pulkit Khandelwal
Sambhar is spicy. But the service is good.washroom also not clear

We visited chotiwala near Ram Jhula during our recent visit to Rishikesh. This place is pretty much packed during the weekends since Rishikesh witness a heavy footfall of tourists during weekends from nearby states. We ordered their special thali and it was the best thali we have ever had. Their food quality, taste and service is top notch. Their is no parking availability in that area so plan your visit accordingly and do try their special thali. Their staff is quite friendly and welcoming, you’ll have a great time here.

Nice place to visit one time for vegetarians options .

Place stands true to its name, really hygienic, friendly staff and great food! If visiting rishikesh must try their thali which is sattvik and freshly cooked for us. Loved the taste.
RAW DREAMZ
One of the most famous restaurant in Rishikesh that offers scrumptuous veg food. Service was good, staff were polite and they maintain the cleanliness. They have very wide menu and the price is at the higher side.

If u have been there at rishikesh and u don't go to chotiwala then ur trip is not completed . The best eatery place in rishikesh where u can find everything u want to eat. However their special thaals are the best things that is served there.

Chotiwala is now dead. Not worth the name. Arrogant service nd tasteless food. Choti has been severed.

This place is not for snacks and fast food. I went there for tea and snacks and the taste was very bad. I think thali and main course food will be better but even the special tea was tasteless and the price was also comparatively high regarding these food.

Vegetarian food review~~

If you are in rishikesh, you gotta try the oldest restraunt located near laxman jhula. One unique thing about the place is a person who is dressed like a pandit with a choti as the name suggests and greets people entering the place for a nice meal.

We were actually full when we went to chotiwalabut also wanted to try out something so we ordered pav bhaji, veg biryani and butter milk for dinner. The food was overall good, being from Hyderabad I have all rights to judge the biryani but to my surprise it was good though it is made with pulao like flavours, the whole dish still came out well with the spices properly managed. The pav bhaji was delicious and the bhaji was good and with the onion slices it was amazing. The butter milk were good too.

The service is good, the place has ground floor with local restraunt sitting while the upper floor is AC restraunt with proper dining experience. The crowd was so so. There are 2 choti Wala adjacent to each other, make sure you go to the oldest one. The price is economical and fits in the pocket.

Overall my first time in rishikesh was full of good feels and good food. Try this place once for sure.

Happy Binging πŸ˜„

So, I came here after a visit to the Ramjhula. I had visited this place around 15 years ago and was looking forward to going there again.

Ambiance- Very basic but has ample space for large families and an AC room upstairs. Nothing very extraordinarily beautiful. The star attraction here is the Chotiwala who sits outside to attract customers. Whether people come in or not, they definitely capture him in their cameras. I would give 3/5 to the ambiance but would add +2 for the Chotiwala outside. 5/5

Service- Quite fast. Everything will be got to you within a few minutes. Polite waiters and bill takers dressed in their signature uniform add to the charm of the place. 4.5/5

Food- More than the yummy taste, it is the nostalgia you would associate with this place. We tried the following-:

Mini meal- They had a variety of combos for the mini meals and we chose The Paneer makhani with 2 naans platter. The naans were yum with sesame seeds on top (This is very different than other places serving the usual naan). Paneer makhani was good. Paneer pieces were mediocre in number. Overall a good combo which can be savoured by one hungry person or two not so hungry people. 4/5

Hot Chocolate- Did not like this one. It looked like hot chocolate but tasted a bit weird. 2/5

Masala Tea- Was good but the masalas were slightly in excess. It felt heavy on the heart. 3/5

Will I come here again? Yes, everytime I come to Rishikesh.

I have been visiting this place since I was a kid.
The menu of this restaurant is pretty simple and usually you'll see a family crowd here.
We ordered -
Dal Makhni
Chilli paneer
Noodles
Roti
Everything taste good.
Overall a great experience from my side.

This place is very much famous in near Ramjhula, Rishikesh. The outlet is always crowded and the service is slightly slow in peak hours. Dining is not very good but they serve tasty food with sufficient quantity.

The restaurant could have been cleaner. It attracts a lot of tourists all day.

After a beautiful little tired journey of Neelkanth Mahadev we found this place near Ramjhoola taxi stand
We ordered for 2 masala dosa and one special thali , dosa was tasty , special thali was average except gulab jamun because that was hot & testy we get a small bottle water with thali, 4 tawa butter roti, dal makhni, mix veg ,kadi, jeera rice, potato chips, and superb gulab jamun,
But I was disappointed when I asked for some onion that was extra chargeable, and I ordered for one tawa roti that was also late, I think there were short of staff

Location. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Food. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Service. 🌟🌟

Chotiwala is very famous veg restaurant but there are two by same name ?
We ordered food from the very famous chotiwala and the food was really good. We ordered paneer paratha, noodles and dal makhni. We were surprised by the quantity of dal makhni. It was very tasty and worth it.

Well we Visited Rishikesh yesterday. And I went to famous Chotiwala Restaurant near Ram Jhula. It serves good food. I tried dal makhani and Kadhai paneer. You can take choice of combo to butter naan or Tawa roti in main course. I also tried masala dosa. Must ordered the special lassi or butter milk (chaas), with it the meal cannot end. Must visit. Overall
Food: πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹/5
Service: πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚/5
Ambience: πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚/5

Best food... Very Tasty. Tried thali n Punjabi food. All three chotiwala has almost same taste and ambience. Heritage thali is too much for single person.

Came here on a whim with a group of friends as we were in the area and had a great experience overall. We weren't sure what to order but the staffs were helpful and recommended us some great dishes and every single one of them was incredible.we will be back for sure

This place right next to ram jhula , there are 2 chotiwalas , we tried the first one. Food was good, tried punjabi thali - which is all fixed no refills, dosas ,Pao bhaji , shahi paneer (the serving was quite a lot for a dish). They serve continental and various Indian thalis like Bangla Gujarati , though we did not try that .There are two sitting area - normal dhaba type and second AC section.
The prices are on higher side , it’s as good as as fine dining restaurant in Delhi. The NON AC Siting area is also not comfortable.

Quality of food is ok 9/10.
But the service is very slow 5/10.
Taste of food is good 9/10.
Cleanness of restaurant is good 9/10.
Seating comfort 8/10.
The best part is the person seating outside the restaurant with a choti for that 10/10.
So My Order Is πŸ˜‚
Probably the best Indian food in town🌸
Very hygienic and delicious πŸ˜‹
It tastes like homemade food πŸ₯˜ ❀️
For desert I will recommend Julab Jamun it’s reallly soft and delicious!

One of the Few genuine Dine Ins at Rishikesh. It has a nice Ganga Facing Seating that is a nice experience. Aaj expected - The Kadhai Paneer was good . The Garlic Naan was a good compliment to it. The Chinese was abysmal , both the Manchurian and Fried rice were bad . The Mini Thalis are not that mini exactly. Not minding a slow service overall it was a Good Experience.
Bhavna
Each bite was heaven ..food quantity n full thalli cost is much reasonable ..I will rate 5star for every item..will surely visit there again
Ansh Batra
Over hyped place. Noodles cold . Waiters untrained and slow. ambience like local restaurant . Thali was good in taste specially dal makhni.
Nothing great in Choti wala except for the guy sitting like a dummy at the enterace.
Concluding : if you are from a metro city , then don’t visit this place. Bet you won’t like it
Rupak Agarwal
Gone are the good ol days of Chotiwala...average food and service now. Still thriving as not many fooding options available. Very expensive for the quality and quantity.
Gourav Kinra
Not considered as a good place to have your food.

Had a bad experience, they don't have good service neither the food quality is good.

Would consider a roadside maggi point over this restaurant.
Located at the heartland of Rishikesh, near Ram Jhula, is a famous restaurant of Chotiwala. The uncanny name is based on a character who is seated at the gate of the restaurant with a long "Choti" going against the gravity. I ordered Tomato soup which was one of the best I have had since a long time. Chola Bhatura and Dosa were above average. Over all a good place to try on your next visit to Rishikesh.
Priya Rao
The guy sitting out the this restaurant with a Choti is just an tourist attraction and it is the reason for the popularity of this place . The food is just average in taste and not a worth to pay soo much . In better price you will get good quality food in Rishikesh.
Kavita
Taste is not good Everytime I ordered food from your site its always tasteless sorry bad experience everytime.need an improve in taste its not good
Rahul Maithani
Food is fabulous. We mostly eat non veg here and they cooks amazing non veg food here, specially afgani chiken. I recommend this place to non veg lovers.
Anirudh Gupta
The place is little hyped around the area. The food was normal, didn’t find any unique taste or flavours. The ambience too was not that great. Also, the service was slow.
Chef Praveen Singh
Nice place but all food same spice and test . Restorent need more important .When new customer coming please confirm which food good here after you will try . Menu was just short and veg items was normal .
Ankit Garg
The time has gone, when Chotiwala was famous by just its name.

The services has been worst now.

The plates in which food was served was not even washed properly and left over food was sticking on it.

Then you can understand the quality of food. Not only the food quality, but also the service quality degraded substantially
Experimental Foodie
It’s Absolutely waste of money, there are 2 chotiwalas, I tried one which is from 1960,.
Poor poor food, I tried thali, all vegetables are basically potatoes.....dry and gravy.
Potatoes were rotten,( see image).
Watery daal, but I guess they only getting customers because of old name.
Totally worthless, bad taste of food.
A.S.
Recently visited Chotiwala. They had employed a human mascot representing the name. It was funny but attractive. Ordered a regular thali, paneer butter masala mini thali and a masala dosa. The sambar and dosa were a little odd sweet. Rest of the food however was good.

When you are in Rishikesh you cant miss the famous Chotiwala. Whatever the people say it is over hyped , not good is just crap. I had the food here in August 2011 and now again in my recent visit last weekend had the food. Believe me it has not been changed since yet.Β

When you are coming from Ram Jhula this is the 2nd one, A person with Choti will be seating at the entrance. The place looked the same as it was in 2011. We were two people and were hogging on the streets trying food so we were half full and still wanted to taste the maximum food.Β Β
So ordered One Deluxe thali -Β which had 11 items in it and tasted the same as it used be. They serve Pure vegetarian food which we use to have 10 years back when Shahi Paneer was not suppose to be sweet.

The place is great for having some good North Indian Food. Would definitely visit again in my next visit too.
PRIYANSH SINGHAL

Situated along side the river Ganges it has a beautiful location. It's a really good restaurant with great food and service too. One of the must try restaurant of Rishikesh.
Tripti
The view of Ganga is great, but the ambiance is ok. Food options are limited. You don't even get chat, samosa and sandwich. Food is not exceptional, it is ok.
Bhatrehemant
It's an average restaurant .service is good ...food is good ...don't expect fine dining from this restaurant....main best part of this restaurant is .u can see the flowing Ganga river from your table while eating food.
Jatin Sangoi
Good Food and Good Service provided. Rates are also reasonable. I just didn't like the coupon system that we need to get before having anything.
