Review Dakshina Mandapa - Secunderabad

Srivishnu Kalavala
It’s a good pure vegetarian buffet option for someone who is looking for buffet! Even it’s budget friendly compared to many other buffet restaurants! On weekdays it is priced at 550 plus gst! Payment options are upi, card and Dineout are available and u will get discount on payment through Dineout app! Food was good, two kinds of welcome drinks, two soups and two starters were there! Love counter had chat like pani puri dahi puri bhelpuri and sev puri, along with a paneer item although menu in live counter will be changing day be day taste seems to be good! People serving food need to be careful! Main course was routine!

It's a very good place for pure vegetarian buffet at a budget friendly pricing. The ambience was aesthetic with live music. The Flutist played amazingly. If you want to spend a quality time with your family and have some good food this is the place. They have a chat counter, Dosa counter, the starters and soup are served fresh and hot.

Best place to have vegetarian buffet on a weekend. Costs around 550+ tax per person. Starters and soup provided at table. Live classical music is performed. Amazing ambience and great service by the staff. Be sure to get there by 12:30 PM to avoid waiting. Vallet parking is available.

Tasty Vegetarian breakfast , Lunch and dinner with lot of varieties.

I love the idea of a buffet breakfast especially on a Sunday!! And these guys have such a wide variety of South Indian options - and they have great taste too! For INR 300, it's super cheap with the quality of food there is. They have the typical South Indian options - (cute little) mini dosas, idli, vada, pongal etc, with 3 different options for chutneys -- very delicious! Other options are fruits, porridge, parathas. One section which sort of doesn't go with the vibe is the one with bread-y options. Though they're just 2-3 options like strudels, fruit cake etc, it's seemed like it's been kept for people who may not prefer south indian food. They were very average by taste as well. So can do without that option. Oh, the kesri bath is YUM. I was unfortunately too stuffed with the rest of the delish food, but definitely try the kesri bath! Came here only once, look forward to coming here more often. :)

Food was excellent, ambience was great only the starters were served a bit late and naan and kulchas were served only when they were asked for!!! On the whole worth the price with many dishes. They charged ₹570/ per person including taxes. Paan charges are extra. To conclude we had a great memorable day👍👍 sorry I am not sure with the correct price of the buffet, but close to the above mentioned price.

Excellent Food .. Yelneer Payasam and pahadi paneer were too good and a must try

One of the very good -Vegetarian Only Buffets- in Hyderabad. Although it is Dakshina Mandapa they also serve Flat Indian Breads( Tandoori Rotis, Naans etc ) . Lunch Buffets every day. Good spread of Salads and Desserts. Only walk ins on Saturday and Sunday & First Come First Served. Other weekdays they accept Reservations. Tasty Starters & Soups.

Located on SD Road and attached to Taj Tristar, it's quite a large restaurant. Dine-in is available with all post-COVID precautions. I went there because it had been highly recommended, and after reading the reviews. I would rate the decor, the general ambience highly, the service exemplary, (I didn't have to wait much, neither to get the order fulfilled, nor for refills), but somehow I didn't feel that the food was as good as the reviews suggested. No doubt it was good and worth the price, but it didn't match my expectations. The menu has several items, purely vegetarian cuisine, depending on the time of the day. I found the prices to be pretty reasonable and competitive with similar establishments in the twin cities.

The best buffet. They have good variety food and everything tasted good. Gongura rice, deserts, noodles, starters, soup are my fav. Their hospitality is top notch. Will definitely visit it.
Divya C
A good restaurant with reasonable prices (550 for buffet) with decent range of food items. Quality and Quantity of food was good, but could be better. Friendly staff and excellent service. Ambience was fine with comfortable wooden seating. Special mention to the flutist for the pleasant music.

Some places take your heart in first visit only. This restaurant is one of that kind. We went there very hungry. And it filled our hearts. The restaurant basically remains open 24*7. We have been there for breakfast in which South Indian was available. We had rawa dosa and poori bhaji. Both were very yummy and cheap in price. Then we had filter coffee twice. I have never had such coffee. It was awesome. The bill was very nominal too. I suggest you..if you are Hyderabad and feeling hungry.. straightway go to TMH restaurant.
Shivam Sharan
Terrible manager and staffs who have no understanding of handling guest. food was good. Decent price.

Best restro in town for morning buffet ... very reasonable prices and full bang on services ..

But place will be full .. so we have to reach early ... buffet was very good ... have plenty of items ...

It’s moong dal halwa and sambar idle is superb ...

Dint tried its dinner buffet but over heard that more then 40 items are served ... will try it soon

Big thumbs up from my side for morning breakfast buffet ...

Not worth the money. Over the years, the quality has deteriorated. The food is very bland and the service is average. The buffet spread is mediocre. For sure I will not visit this place anymore.

I generally avoid going to vegetarian buffets but since I heard great things about this place from my friends, I decided to visit it along with two others for dinner. First thing about this place is that it has a grand décor along with live traditional music playing. It is located inside the Taj Tri star hotel on the Sarojini devi road.

The buffet started with the stewards serving soups, starters and drinks onto the table. The Baby corn spinach soup is soo delicious that we asked for an extra serving. Both the starters are super tasty as the paneer is very soft and fresh. Also the fruit punch and masala lemonade drinks tasted good and refreshing.

Now coming to their main courses I tried all the dishes and nothing dis-appointed me. I loved their Zafrani pulao which came along with mirch ka salan and raita. Also their Pahadi dal and Palak paneer are superlative. All the three Chinese dishes; Schezwan noodles, cumin fried rice and vegetables in black bean sauce tasted awesome.

Finally for the last i.e. desserts it was a choice of plenty. My favorite among them were the beetroot halwa, gulab jamun, palli unda, black forest pastry and a platter of syrupy sweets. There are also live counters where you can order pani puri, chaat and south Indian tiffins. For the price they are charging this is the best vegetarian buffet I ever experienced.

I was so thrilled when I was told it is one of the best places to have telgu/andhra food.. But came disappointment. An okay-okay place to have food, I was expecting a huge buffet with authentic south indian dishes and chutneys.A limited spread out and with a mix of punjabi and chinese dishes. It just did not live up to my expectations. There were no refills of papads or assortments, or once the dhai wada was finished the next lot was not sent out in bowls, rather they choose to just place it without any presentations, same story was with curd rice. Only the welcome drink - fresh watermelon juice and Mint water was worth. It will cost appox 350/- but I feel may be a proper andhra meal in a local restaurant is much tastier, authentic and value for money. Ambience was fine.Overall a below average place to have food, not recommended, 2 tomato spoons.

I was here with family for lunch on a Sunday. The service was very poor and the food wasn't great either. Didn't find this place worth the money.

Food - 2.5/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 1.5/5

Nice food for pure vegetarian peoples, i love to say that you must try veg rice thali ( Meals)
Service is really good and atmosphere is really positive
Peddibhotla Architha
A perfect place for a veggie buffet. It is economical at the same time covers all different types of food. They even have live counters. The main course is also wide. The desserts here are my favorite. The golden coins they serve as the starter with green chutney is extremely delicious. Overall it's a cozy buffet.
Megha G Gaglani
Very bad service and not clean and staff literally talks loudly even when the customers are sitting .. lot of noise of cutlery around .. very bad hospitality .. worst place ever been
Shashi Kataria
Wow awesome South Indian thali with lip smacking desserts.Loved the food and its economical n good place .really liked the taste of food which was not tht spicy and ambiance also good

Been here for a lunch buffet. The food was plain and simple, though I enjoyed the ambience. The buffet spread could have been bigger and better.
Sahi Jeeth
Had been there for a buffet and I didn't find it better than any other restaurants of same kind. In fact it's as same as many other 3 star restaurants. Food quality is good. Tried both veg and non-veg. Don't expect much seeing the name Taj.
Nainika Sharma
Three stars for three different things.
First one for the ambiance and live instrumental performance by the artists. Second one for the service which was quiet good and available when ever needed and the third star for the variety of food presented for the buffet.
(Coming to food)
Food wasn't as good as expected not just the desert but the dishes were sweet too. All of 'em missed masala and weren't spicy at all. But Gobi Manchurian were something you will love the most.

We were 6 friends who went to this hotel for a pure veg buffet at low cost. We were surprised by the ambience and the delicious food since it was the first time we went to this hotel. Each and every item in the menu was awesome. This will be a great place to go with family and friends. Pure vegetarians will feel like heaven here. Only thing is we need to go early in the evening to get place as it is always fast filling hotel. But it is more worth than we pay . Definitely a place to enjoy delicious pure vegetarian food.

Homely food.. multicuisine...Amazing ambience ....I think the hospitality food will all mae one quench his thirst towards vegetarian food shattering all the misconceptions about veg buffet and cuisine..

Revisited this place after a long time... Went for a family dinner buffet.. The ambience, Ravi verma paintings, the live music with flute and tabla, a decent variety in food... All these made our hot summer evening a very pleasant one... Food was as tasty as always, soup, starters, main course and desserts... Everything was good... Some very simple items were really tasty... My favorites for that evening were fruit punch (welcome drink), sambar, dal tadka, gun powder with rice and ghee was amazing (the most simplest thing)... Moong dal halwa was also very tasty..., All in a reasonable pricing..

It was much better before a few years.. but now it's just like any other normal restaurant out there.. we went there for a breakfast buffet . Only 3 or 4 items were tasting good the others tasted less than average !! Let me give a list of what u can try there-
* plain dosa
*vada (when hot )
*moongdal halfway
*fruit punch
* only thing which u may like here is the cost.. it's rs 200 change for a buffet breakfast ( but many ppl now, including me prefer a better hygiene and taste rather than just less cost)
^ Poori was just ok
^ the ginger chutney was spoiled (they removed it after we told them that it was smelling bad)
^the waiting time is too much !! for example even in buffet, the plain dosa takes more than 15mins and the bill too!! So b prepared if u r going here
One of best veggie place in the city! Highly recommended for some lip smapcking authentic food!
Starters- 4/5
Desserts- 5/5
Main course - (Individual preference) 3.5/5

We went for a Sunday family brunch. Food was authentic Indian flavored. Ambiance also was well maintained. Really loved the starters and sambar!! I feel the dessert menu could be altered a bit. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

Food: 3.75/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 4/5

Buffet n ambience were nice. . Don’t expect much starters here,Only 2 . Main course was really delicious. Desserts are good but not top notch. Great value for money.

Ordered a parcel takeout 2 m.dosas, 2 idlies, 2 wadas on 1/24 at about 7:45AM.

The food was cold. The dosas had been lumped down in the carry box and had no form when plated.

The sambar was cold and it was probably leftovers from yesterday not even reheated properly. later in the day we developed sore throats which subsided in a few days.

The coconut chutney that was remaining at the end of the day started to smell and was flushed down the toilet instead of risking any further poisoning / infection.

Never expected such a lack of concern for quality. Even after I called and spoke to a trainee manager Arun who said that he would pass on my comments and feedback to the manager after he arrives and will get back to me on my mobile, this call never materialized.

Overall the staff is callous and rude. Nobody smiles and thanks you for your business.

The food is shoddy, service is lousy and Prices are high, it’s definitely not worth it and there are plenty of alternatives and options
Vivechana Kiran
We went there for breakfast buffet. Its a cool restaurant to enjoy authentic south Indian breakfast. They have both buffet & ala-carte for breakfast. Nice option for family dinning.
Indoor ambience makes you comfortable. Its not noisy. Nicely lit.

Breakfast buffet for 2 costs Rs. 445 (inclusive of taxes).
Quality of food is super. Dosa live counter is good, they also give poori on request.
There is no omlet live counter, as this is a veg-only restaurant.
You can ask for tea, coffee as well. Moong dal halwa was tasty. Chocolate muffin was mild in flavor.

Recommended dishes:
Idly, Pongal - try them with ghee & karampodi. Poori. Veg sandwich,
Pranaya
Welcomed with Soup, Paneer Tika, Chilly Allu

In the main course, got varieties of Rice and traditional south indian meals items and Veg Biryani, Chowmin.

One line: Rice will lovers enjoy the food options....

Don't expect varieties Chinese items in starter...

Good place to visit

Best Hospitality as service... Thanks for this
Akhil
Went in for the New year lunch buffet priced at 499/-. The food was decent 6.8/10
Service was really slow and the manager though respectful kept screaming at the servers and it ruined the whole atmosphere. There was live Hindustani music with tabla and santoor.
Would I go back anytime soon? I don't think so..

To be precise a 4.3 rating will contribute to the good work of the restaurant. The buffay items are limited but fulfilling. The maincourses are excellent combining with juices present it makes excellent combinations. Deserts are done right.

Not at all recommended. Except for the ambience nothing else is worth mentioning. Everything and everyone is miserably inadequate. Don't take a chance at all. The service is pathetic. I went with my family ie me my spouse & my child. One who I was told that he is a manager named Srinivas was prompting many a clients to go to the adjacent hotel and have Idly or dosa. Clients were profusely feeling embarrassed. Many of us will surely be embarrassed by these guys like this if the hotel is occupied. Most of the stuff, ie the snacks etc were cold No value for money at all. This was the worst experience of my life. Guy's please don't waste your time and money even once going to this place. There are many joints much much better in Secunderabad.
Pampari Geetanjali
One of the best restaurants in my visit list.
Qualified ambiance, staff isn't that good, we were impressed for live orchestra.
They had live dosa counter and pani Puri. The biryani was good amazing rest all are average.

Dakshina Mandapa has been maintaining high class food at affordable rates since many years. We paid a visit to the restaurant yesterday after few years and were surprised to find the dishes excellent. Mr Srinivas has not changed a bit in receiving the customers. Great customer care; good ambience; reasonable rates. Taj, keep it up.
Prasuna Meduri
One of the institutions in Hyderabad for pure vegetarian food. The interiors are really traditional and they play some indian classical and fusion music (instrumental) which is etched perfectly. The food isn't spicy and it isn't even bland. So it is perfect for people who love to eat not so spicy food like me. It is perfect for family dinners and get togethers.

#Vegetarian. A pocket friendly buffet place!!
This a regular buffet place for me. It is a decent restuarant with decent spread. It has feel good ambience.Biryani & rasam are must try.
Food- 4
Ambience- 3.5
Service- 3.5

This is a go to place whenever I want to have a decent Indian buffet.I've been to this place innumerable times and it never disappoints me.The good progress that I've seen in this restaurant is that their soup used to be very so-so but now even that is delicious!. The spread is not so huge providing too many options but according to me it's sufficient. If you are going out with family who are not too much into other cuisines and like Indian food with a dash of chinese like my family, do not think twice and visit this place. They will have live counters and those are good. The desserts sections is decent enough with pastries, sweets, cut fruits and four ice creams.
Must try: Dahi wada,Rasam,Paneer curry,Chaas.[Starters too]
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3.5/5 [The place has limited seating if you are visiting in peak hours]
Value for money:4/5
Service:4/5
Sathvik Pingali
Excellent food buffet with a mix of cuisines
Welcome drinks are very good
South indian dishes are prepared with excellent taste especially bisi bhele bath
Overall food is above average

This restaurant is located in Secunderabad in the cellar of Taj Tristar hotel. I was here last month with my parents and my mother's friends who had come from Dubai and the US. I really liked the ambience of this place. It gives a feel of complete South Indian touch with some amazing wall paintings that they have. The place is in the cellar but still is very well lit.

I would like to talk about their staff before anything else. They are so very prompt and humble. My mom had lost her gold chain at the entrance of the restaurant but we realized only in the end that the gold chain was missing. There was another case of lost and found property of someone's phone. The staff was so prompt and also the way they calmed the customers was amazing! There were two cases of lost and found and we are really grateful to them for being so accurate and fast in helping finding lost things! 😁

Talking about the food, it's a complete vegetarian restaurant and if you are looking for some mouth watering vegetarian food, this place should be amongst the top 5 in your list! The pani puri here is wow! Just wow. I've never had such yummy pani puri at a hotel anywhere. The hara bhara kebabs were yummy too. The cream soup was good but not really yum. They had an amazing set up of main course. They had varieties of a typical Telugu house, avakaya(pickle), pachadis, curries. They had some amazing north Indian dishes as well. I really loved their paneer butter masala! 😁 In desserts too, they had a huge variety, similar too ABs. The gaajar ka halwa was my favorite! They had kheer, fudges, pastries as well.

All in all, it's a complete paisa vasool place because you can eat to your heart's content and the bill that you pay is very very less compared to the quality of food you are served! 😁 Do check out this place if you are looking for a good vegetarian restaurant in Secunderabad! 😃

Overall, ambience : 5/5, service : 7/5 (if I could give that for how they responded to lost property), food : 5/5, value for money : 5/5

Have visited this place multiple times few years back. It used to be good. But my recent visit was not a good experience at all. This place has lost it's charm, and with the increasing prices, either you compromise quality, or charge more. Sadly, this place did both. I felt I was charged a lot for below average vegetarian food. There was no variety. One starter (some cauliflower Manchuria) which was cold and stale. One paneer curry which tasted average. Of course on paper there was alot of stuff, but it didn't end up on my plate.
Adding to this, the AC wasn't working.
There are many other better restaurants, and I seriously suggest you to reconsider your decision if you've chosen this place. Costed me 410 which I was very unhappy to pay.

Score:

Food - 2.5
Service - 2 (was there any?)
Ambience - 3
(it's alright, the lighting and all, -1 for non functional AC)
VFM - 0
(ABSOLUTELY NOT, you can get even a good non veg buffet at this price)

Ambience is good. Dint like the quality of food served. I had gone out for the lunch buffet on one of the weekdays. Flavour is not great and neither is Array of food on a buffet.
Sumanth Kumar
We went to this place on Sunday for lunch. We went little early so it was empty but soon it filled up. If you don’t want to wait you have to visit early. Food is great with many varieties.
Navaneeth Arya
Not at all satisfied with the food we had. Rice items were really bad, the pain rice is not cooked perfectly. Eating rice is almost like eating raw rice. Even the desserts seems to be not quality. Ambience is good and serving is good. I liked the most is chole bhatura, dahi vada and water.
Abhinav Cherukuri
Have been here for three times for buffet on new year. The multiple dishes offer varying options. The starters were really good. The ambiance is really nice. They had different types of rice and also some homely curries which made the buffet complete. The desserts were not the best, just ice cream and some cakes but no sweet.
Phani Sankar
Well Let me start off from the welcome drink.. We literally had to wait for 10mins on the table to get the welcome drink.. Let's not discuss about the quality..Next part is the starters..You get the same routine starters served very cold with no taste at all..So let's not keep much expectations on the starters....Main course has limited varieties which I guess they don't change much..I been there 2times in two weeks..And both the times the Main course is same except for 2changes in curries..Most painful part is once dishes are over you will have to literally wait and follow-up with the staff multiple times and keep following up them for the fillings..By that time you will lose interest...Taste of the dishes and curries in main course is not that great..Finally Desert's..This also will not meet your expectations..As you will not get what is listed there.. Only thing good is Ice cream....

Food was good

Enjoyed Dinning here as well for Breakfast

Staffs were courteous and Quick in service & Fulfilled our request immediately.

Buffet was too bad we had on republic day and menu was too limited and the surprise was sweets they served are Kesari and pudding both of them are so poor in taste and quality after charging 425 rupees.
I wish that for buffet you should definitely look for other option.

Went there a week back with my family for lunch. We went to ala carte section rather than the buffet section. We ordered the special lunch (unlimited meals). We enjoyed it, especially the Biriyani and Curd vada. Sambhar and Rasam were of udupi style. I would love to visit this place again.

Had been to this place for some functions and enjoyed the food here.. food is decent and quality of the food also is good.. Taj Tristar also has a pub if i am not wrong.

After my friends been here, this restaurant is in my list to visit. The occasion has come to visit and it was Sunday. I have choosen buffet.

They have served only two veg starters.
The APPAm is not tasty.

They have very good collection of main course.

Desserts are okay.

Met the expectations. But not beyond.
Kosh
A high rating given to this place is what prompted us to visit Taj Tristar and I must say I wasnt very pleased with what I got.
The buffet place is extremely cramped which is a big turn off. Buffet involves people moving around , filling their plates and with such a cramped set up , it dampens the whole mood. The food was average with some items exceedingly well made. The peas pulao , Gutti vankaya kura , Matar Malai to name a few. The starters were pretty average and so were the desserts. There was a chat and Noddle counter as well.
Service is very prompt. The waiters were quick to heed our requests to serve some items on the table.
It is pretty average for the price we paid. I have witnessed much better buffets than this in vegetarian and hence was not very impressed. No points in guessing that I wouldnt go back.
CMS
We have been here today 10 Dec for Buffet Lunch..

1) DO NOT TRY THIS RESTRAU UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE LEFT !
2) Small place, and cannot accommodate too many customers, so high waiting time!
4) Buffet spread is minimal and tastes are PATHETIC!!
5) TAJ TRISTAR management is least bothered about the food quality or the way it is being served
6) So there is NO ONE WHO CHECKS THE FOOD TEMPERATURE or the Quality. So, they just come and refill the dishes, beware!!

And NO... There is NO COMPLAINT /FEEDBACK system!
If you want to escalate/complain, the person at the entrance (Usher) PRETENDS TO BE THE MANAGER of the restrau as well!!

Splendid vegetarian buffet with great ambience and appreciable decor. The food was good. Service was prompt. The starters wer a bit cold. Highly recommendable.

The staff was courteous ...thr food was nice ...ambience was homely....service is fast....the spread of the vegetarian food was perfect with a variety of south indian and north indian items...and finally worth spending !!!

Good food, nice ambience and polite/courteous staff. I guess that's what we look for when dining out. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

A very nice place the food is absolutely wonderful. The starters with exceptional the main course was wonderful and the desserts were good. I went to this place for lunch Buffet and I was not at all disappointed. Keep the good work and cooking going on.

I wonder how the rating for this restaurant is so high. It is really bad in most of the aspects one considers for a restaurant to be good. Its interior is good but the place lacks space. Its too compact. The music is non existent. The food, downright bad. We were served all cold dishes. If served hot, may be they would taste better. The welcome drink is bad. The 2 starters were served cold. I was served the starters like i was equivalent to 4 people. It was like the waiter just wanted to dump all he got. The white and the only pasta was below average. They dont even have oregano to add to the pasta. The curries are just ok. The breads again were served cold. The dahi vada was stale! We could taste the bitter curd. The deserts are bad too. The service sucks. Really sucks. The waiters doesnt pay any damn attention to your needs. On asking for some particular thing, they need to be constantly reminded or they just dont care. The air conditioning is not proper. The only OK thing was the interior. Nothing else. Avoid.
Sujeet Kumar Shrivastav
Very small and tight to have food comfortably , during lunch buffet crowd makes you to not enjoy the food.. Food wise nothing which made me to mention here .. Ordinary food with OK taste, there are only two varieties of curries and two starters that's it .
Supriya Kalyan Gupta
Yesterday has been to this restaurant for dinner, welcome drink was good, tomato soup was like rasam.Starter, butter Naan were good, Biryani was totally dried and was tasting very bad, Dahi wada was very sour in taste. I didn't expect this from this restaurant, really had a bad experience this time. This restaurant is loosing it's standards.
Praneet Kandarpa
Love the buffet breakfast here. The variety and the quality has been exceptional. Been a regular here, the service is also quite good. Love the coffee.
Akash Dingiri
The whole ambience of this place reminds us of Saravana bhavan of Tamil Nadu. The dishes also taste slightly like Chennai style. One of the few best places where you can have great vegetarian food. The cost too is very much reasonable. Recommend people to go and eat over there.
Divya J
If you are a veggie you will love it. Sometimes a bit crowded place and less spacious. You can have a lot lot lot of varieties within your budget. Suggestion is go with family. You can have nice time.
Ajay Devalla
The welcome drink was really bad. Soup was not good. Starters were good. There were few items in main course and they were not too good. Deserts were excellent. Overall an average place for veg buffet
Sreekar Gangapuram

We went there for dinner last week on Sunday. Just seeing by the reviews from zomato we went there and we were pretty happy with the food. Pretty okay ambiance and service was good.

In buffet, they have 2 welcome drinks, 2 Soups, 2 starters were Baby Corn Manchurian and Beet Root Tikki which were really delicious. Pani Puri and Pav Bhaji were in the live counter things. Pav Bhaji was really good in taste.

Then in main course, 4 Subzi's, Roti or Naan, Noodles, Fried Rice and Manchurian Gravy. Other things were Dahi Wada, curd rice, Sambar, Rice and all those.

In desserts, Moon Dal Halwa, Gulab Jamun, 4 types of Ice Cream, Fruits, Pineapple Cake and Banushai.

The only thing that they serve the food not hot(like starters) which we have to tell them to make them hot.Overall good in food and pretty decent price. Definitely try this place.

Surely has been a very nice place with great live chat/paneer tikka counters. The buffet here not only serves great varieties, it also makes sure to get new dishes on the board timely. Broccoli & cream soup here is great. Recommended for family dining.

Visited this place for a family get together.Started with soup which was really good. Starters were were not and tasteless.
Main course spread was limited. Navratan corma and corn curry was tasty. Butter naan was also good. Dessert was not impressive. Slow service and very dull ambience.

Went for lunch there, a very average veg buffet with hardly any starters other than cocktail kabab and honey chill cauliflower. Desserts were almost over and service was poor.

On occasion of our parents 25th anniversary we visited Dakshina Mandapa & thanks to them for maintaining such a hygienic food standards (sarcasm) we saw a LIVE COCKROACH in Kala Jamun , after alarming the manager I realized how useless of me to talk to the management , I'll never suggest anyone to DM , If you're a pure vegetation do yourself a favour and skip this place , thanks again for ruining our lunch !

The restaurant is inside hotel taj TriStar and has got buffet dinner, the food is really very good, in fact heaven for veggies, lot of option in vegetables, salad, starter and nice dessert, good ambience, the only thing where they need to work is cleanliness of the table cloth.

Went there for lunch with my family. When in a city in south india and then you visit a place where the speciality is south Indian food, the expectations are by default high. However this place was not up to the mark. Most things tasted very ordinary. I couldn't find any south Indian specialities. Due to these reason, it was hard form me to judge or find a concrete reason to suggest the place to someone. Overall experience was unsatisfactory.

P.S. something I definitely appreciate them for is the interior and decor of place which is very well planned.

Value for money 2/5
food 2.5/5

This restaurant is inside Taj Tristar. This is one of the best known restaurants to have a buffet either for lunch or for dinner. I have heard that people come far from Hyderabad to have dinner here. Many of my friends have told me that in this price range, it is difficult to find anywhere else a vast variety of options that you get in buffet here.

With that note, let me directly dig into review.

Ambiance – Restaurant literally strikes the right balance between south Indian setting and music. All the wall décors with matching table/chair sets up the mood when you enter the restaurant. This is at -1 level so no outdoor sight is available. Well-kept spread catches your eye as you enter into the restaurant. They have enough sitting arrangements and plenty of tables.

Food – this is pure veg restaurant. What do I say about this? To be honest, vast variety of dishes available in buffet. You have south Indian of course, north Indian, Chinese, Thai and other cuisines. Couple of soups, nicely cut and kept salads, two types of papad, their special chilly filled with dry masala (a must try), rice, biryani, pulao. Lot of options in dessert – 3 types of ice creams, hot gulab jamun, hot halwa, pastries, Daal, Rasam, Sambar, moose, cut fruits, couple of juices, buttermilk, chaat, pani-puri (golgappa / puchka), nice naan / paratha that they serve on table, two-three starter items.

It is difficult to explain each and every dish. So uploading photos would make more sense.

Service – Soup is served at table. You can also ask them to get you starters. Rest please do yourself a favour.

Staff – Friendly, helpful and courteous.

On this price range, it is sure shot a must try. I would say more than a value for money place.

Visited this restaurant for buffet dinner on more than a couple of occasions. This restaurant still continues to be a favorite among my relatives circle. The review

Food- The spread is decent. There is a live counter and this time it was grilled sandwiches, they were just OK. The spread included Starters/Welcome Drink/south Indian/Biriyani/Chinese/North Indian etc, each cuisine with a couple or more items. Desserts has a choice of ice creams/Jamuns/ and some standard dessert dishes. Overall the spread includes all the basic dishes to make it a typical buffet.

Ambience- Is pretty decent. Good that the ambience is still maintained considering that this restaurant is not any new.

Service- Should really pull up their standards. Was kept waiting for plates/glasses - the very basic thing. Though I find an acknowledgement, there was no rush among the staff. They did attend all our requests, its just that they were to be told or asked for things.

Value for Money- Surely a place to be if you have price in your mind. Hardly few places that serve a decent veg dinner buffet for 300 plus taxes.

Bottom Line- For people like my parents who occasionally eat out and feel spending a good 800-1000 bucks for any buffet is quite absurd. :)

Very conjugated place and the dishes are not so yummy it's a waste of 400rs swagath is better than this and charging 170rs .and the chocolate ice cream also tastes like complan

Let me tell you, if you feel the ambiance is great and go you will have a very bad experience.Even if you are with limited budget, don't go here.. A worst place, Especially when you are hungry!

PATHETIC SERVICE..

This place is a must for Veggies, its actually a delight. Have been a regular visitor from 3 years and i must say over time the quality or the taste has not changed at all.

Very small place, but one of the few places where i have found older generation too enjoying the food. On any weekend you will find lot of families and people who are well above 60 enjoying every bit of their meal.

All their dishes are fantastic, though bit pricey but you wont feel the pinch once you taste the food.

You need to go really quickly if u want to enjoy the food at leisure. This place fills very quickly. By the time its 1 P.M/7.30 P.M there would be a huge line of people waiting to get their turn

Ambience is nice. Food was not upto the expectations. Only Starters were best of all, the welcome drinks and desserts were also good. Service was good

It's a vegetarian restaurant. For lunch the thaali seems to be the most popular, so we settled for that. The place was quite crowded, so it told on the quality of service. The food was okay. I have always liked the Andhra Thali especially the palak Dal and the rice/gunpowder /ghee combo at start of the lunch. Overall I would rate it Above Average

Nice place for veggies. Ambiance is nice with paintings around and pleasant. They gave us a welcome drink which was in green colour which was not good and the soups were served on the table one was mint water and the other was some milk kinda both were not at all good. Starter baby con Manchuria was good. I like sambar bath in the main course less no of curry items. What I like the most in the buffet was panipuri. Praveen Kumar Srikar Aditya Sai Nithin

We ordered fixed thali here. The food was very heavy and we could not even eat one roti properly. We complained the same to manager there, he said this is due to very high amount of ghee used to prepare all the dishes!! Such an audacity!
Akhil Vemuri
A very good place for vegetarians. However, we came here with high expectations. This being my first time, I tried to keep a neutral mindset. The place is pretty old, the hand napkin they give is older. Food was aight, nothing special about the Biryani and Sambar Rice I was told to be splendid. My fav dish? The coriander clear soup (I seriously hate coriander with a passion).
Service was worth a 100 rupees tip tho. They were very kind and helpful.
Overall, I should give this place another try, maybe they just weren't on par today food wise, but the atmosphere is not worth another shot in my opinion.
Aditya Annavaram
One of the best vegetarian buffet restaurant in Secunderabad.....located in Taj tristar
Food - Very good
Ambience - Splendid
service - not bad
price - reasonable
Sandhya (sweety)
Been here the second time with Dad and Mom on 19th sept 2015. The ambiance was good .. The food was good. Buffet was with in budget. But the welcome drink was not up to the mark. They had orange juice which was too sweet, and buttermilk. The food was good , but not mouthwatering.
Riddhi Malay Vasavada
Dakshina Mandapa in Taj Tristar is famous for vegetarian buffet around Secunderabad due to its food quality, variety of food, ambiance and price. The buffet has a wide variety of dishes from south to north indian, Chinese, street food, chaats to desserts. So would say nominal prices with variety of food.

Ambiance : decorate with heavy woodwork, splendid paintings, copper decorative pieces. Beautiful traditional south indian ambiance without much noise. South indian music in the background transport you to south india.

Food: buffet had lots of variety.

Two types of soups – coriander clean soup which I liked.

Lots of variety in salads- sprouts salad, moong dal salad, creamy carrot salad, tomato salad with tadka and many more.

Starters – Paneer tikka masala and fried vegetables in Chinese flavour. Both starters was good. Pinacolada serve as welcome drink, which was ok.

Main course - South indian dishes like Pongal, curd rice, dahi vada tooped with tadka, fried chilly stuffed with sago, bisi-bale-bhat etc.

North indian dishes like Paneer methi masala, corn palak, paneer makhani, naan, dal makhani. All the sabji were good, perfect thick gravy. Dal makhani was too good.

Dessert- Mango pastry, kala jam, rava keasri, orange shuffle, gajar ka halva, moong dal halva. All the desserts were ok. They also serve 4 types of ice creams- vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and black current, were good.

The live stall served Panipuri, dahi puri. Both were good.

We had best vegetable biryani too.

Service – good and friendly.

Overall, a memorable encounter, which we would want to experience again! Recommended.

Food: 3/5

Ambiance: 3.5/5

Service: 3.5/5

Value for money: 4/5

Attach some photos for the reference.

They were the first ones to start veg buffet for 99rs in Hyderabad. Though they have increase the price of the buffet over the years this place is still my favourite if I choose for buffet. They still maintain the same quality.
Srinithi Kumar
This place is an all time favourite of mine. The food here is so delicious and mouth watering! The buffet has a wide variety of dishes, varying from Chinese ,Mexican to Indian. Worth the price. Better to reserve a table before going as it fills in very fast.
Anil Bharadwaj
Taj Tristar - Dakshina Mandap the concept of ambience of a 'Manduva Logili' (google if you don't know it). To make it look so, the buffet zone was placed in the centre to give it an illusion of an ancient south indian house courtyard. Its purely vegetarian so you would have only veggie options to choose from. (Good luck Veggies nazis).

So you have a range of 3 starters to choose from, which I wouldn't recommend filling up because you would have a lot more to eat. The main courses have nothing really special but mostly well cooked except for the rice which sometimes I have a complaint because it doesn't go very well with me. Its a little roughly cooked. And
the management is a little slow in filling up the dishes on time. There is this live pasta counter, and live pani puri counter, but its only a trick by the restaurant to get you to eat less food and gain more bucks. I wouldn't recommend giving in to the temptation coz they have not made exquisite flavours in that department, so waste of time (and money). The desserts include ice creams, carrot halwa, jamun and others but the Ice cream is not special too, for the price one pays. They are just the regular flavour that you get out there in the market.

Wash rooms could have been much cleaner.
Overall a good restaurant, but not a great one.
Pratyasha Mishra
They have an above average spread for vegetarians and even though I'm no vegetarian I love this place. They have had the similar decor for ages though the food menu changes a bit. Taste and service is very decent and price is pretty okay as well. Sometimes, the diner gets a little crowded but nothing really to complain about. I think DM needs to be tried atleast once for buffet lovers who adore some good Indian food.
Thakur Hansraj Singh
This is simply the worst experience I have ever had. They make you wait for a lifetime and then are not cordial. The mangers there don't really know the way to behave. If you really want to visit this place make sure you carry a truck load of patience along.

I would rate 0 if I could.
Sreelakshmi Vathyam
Nice place to go with family as you can enjoy your time there with them. Good soothing music. The quantity and quality of the food was also worthy. A definite visit next time I am in Hyderabad.
Oddiraju Shashank Ram
Loved the food. Good quality vegetarian food, the buffet is satisfying with numerous tasty items, even if you are a non vegetarian you should try this one, satisfied with everything from ambience, service to taste.
Aashutosh Choudhary
The food is really great for the price it's offered at. The buffet meal is good and those who love to try multiple delicacies at the same time will enjoy it. The ambience is decent, though it can get a bit crowded at times and one might have to wait in the que to even get in. One of the few places in Hyderabad where you can get a decent North-Indian vegetarian meal without paying a fortune.
Taraka Venkata Pavan
I've known this restaurant for the past 13 yrs and the experience had been reasonably good. There was this one time when the deserts were horrible (on a weekday), but yes, Dakshina Mandapa is my all time favourite.
Very famous place in secunderabad area for it's vegetarian buffet spread. Weekend buffet usually has more items like aapam and pakodas . South Indian dishes like pongal and sambar rice are served. Except for the soup all other items were tasty and good.
Ambiance is good.
Gautam Totapalli
Not so great experience with this restaurant.
The food was just ok. The service was good.
Ambience is nice. But lacked a subtle variety in the food menu that was offered on that day.
