Review Hunan Restaurant - Secunderabad

This is a place I used to visit regularly during 2003-2008 period. It's been 5 years since I last visited this place and I wanted to take my friends for dinner. They suggested Nanking, mainland China and Alex's kitchen but I was adamant that we visit Hunan. I was a little scared if the place had lost its originality and if the food would taste the same as it used to earlier. One friend said Alex's kitchen wasn't the same anymore and the other friend was not so excited about Nanking as his last visit was average. So I was desperate for Hunan to live up to its expectations. And Hunan did not disappoint me as the food tasted the same as it always used to. We ordered: Chicken corn soup (rating: 5/5) Chicken Canton soup (5/5) Chicken Pakoda (5/5) Chicken Drumsticks *2 (5/5) Chilli loose prawns (3.5/5) Chicken spring rolls (4/5) Veg spring rolls (3.5/5) Veg Manchuria (2.5/5) Chicken American chopsuey (5/5) Boiled Noodles with diced chicken (4/5) Overall it was a very satisfying experience. However it would be better if the restaurant serves cool drinks too.

It's been almost more than 10 years since we(my family) have been visiting Hunan and it has never disappointed us in its taste . This pic is of its Hunan special-Basket noodles 😍😋😋

My go-to place for good quality, delicious Chinese food. They have an excellent range of dishes. Their soups are great, personal favourite being the hot and sour soup. Their pepper chicken and other such starter items are delicious too. You'll finish it before you know it. They don't just offer the usual noodles and fried rice but other awesome stuff like Chop Suey, and more traditional soft noodles. Very affordable too for a night out for Chinese food. Go once and you'll go back several times. Enjoy.

Best place to eat food .. very neat and clean Chinese restaurant

One of my greatest nostalgia and memories of Hyderabad days where i lived 2004-2006... Great food and affordable prices.. Revisited in 2011 when i made a visit to city.. Today an FB reminded of that visit through its memories. Checked out to find its still there at same place. Longing to visit there once again.. Happy to see lot of positive reviews.. Keep going Hunan..

I love this place coz it's the only place I have tasted one of the best dishes that I had after 15 years in Hyderabad the boiled noodles hot chicken is a must try at the restaurant. The place is small and cozy and the ambiance has a good feel as well.

I know this place from 20 Years. This is small place but one of the best place for Chinese in Hyderabad. Chicken Canton Soup, Drum sticks, Chicken Pakoda are good. Mixed Fried rice and Egg soft noodles,American and Chinese Chopsey are the best.

I am going to this restaurant from 10 years. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever seen. Their all dishes are really really delicious. The best dish of this restaurant are basket noodles and shanghai rools. Superb experience must visit this restaurant.....

Want a quick bite without much fanfare. This is the place.<br/>Good Chinese preparations though bit Indianised to suit the taste buds of Spicy Hyderabadis.<br/>Chicken drumsticks are good and so is the chicken chilly (really spicy)<br/><br/>Do not go by the ambience as it looks dingy but i have seen many working couples dropping in for lunch time. <br/><br/>Food - Good taste<br/>Quantity - filling<br/>Ambiance - Just OK<br/>Service - good<br/>Parking - Bikes can be parked<br/>Price - reasonable <br/><br/>Overall - 7/10

the seafood soup here can give a lot of big names a run for their money. it's an absolute delight and it hasn't changed even after 10 years. seafood souo u just take my breath away.... 😍😍😍

This place is located beside Taj Tristar( Dakshina Mandapa specifically) in the cellar beneath Micromaxs' service Centre. <br/><br/>The place has a decent ambiance with around 10-12 tables at most. <br/><br/>The service is slow. <br/><br/>Coming to the food, I had ordered:<br/><br/>Chicken canton soup - Decent in taste but don't expect much. <br/>Chilli loose prawns - Mediocre in taste, excessive batter was used to coat the pawns which made them oily. They were salty as well. <br/>Chicken soft noodles - The only satisfying dish I had which saved my evening. The flavor and texture are good and the quantity sufficient for two. <br/><br/>As far as pricing goes, this place is affordable. <br/><br/>Visit in case you are in its vicinity but do not go in expecting great things. <br/>

Ambience below average and overpriced lot of places available near by location with much lesser price not up to the mark...the food is just okie..but they charge a lot

Nothing much to say. Has a dim ambience but got some good food. Reasonable pricing. <br/>Can improve the interiors and will really do well if they can.

First things first: as said earlier by other reviewers food is really tasty. Tried chicken soft noodles and was really good. Had a really good tasty noodles after a long time.<br/>Ambience is ok. Can give it a try.

:) - hot chicken rice , hot and sour soup . Chicken pakodas, American choupsey! It's so affordable and the taste is amazing. <br/>Ambience is not good but it's worth the price as the food is delicious.

This resturant is near belsons taj mahal hotel in SD road..<br/>They have a huge menu of chinese food..<br/>Ambience is good for families and friends..<br/>Chicken cantonese soup ,loose prawn ,chicken lollipp,ginger chicken, egg fried rice are some of the things i reccomend here..<br/>Rates are resonable and food is good..

A Vegetarian's Review: My first visit to hyderabad and i was craving for my favourite cuisine (Chinese). Was searching for some nice joints when i came upon the Hunan Restaurant.<br/><br/>Its was around 15 minutes walk from my hotel so i decided to to visit the place. It is located near Taj Tristar Hotel. You have to be really attentive to locate it or you will miss it as its a bit difficult to find.<br/><br/>A small sign board of Hunan Restaurant and a few steps downwards, i entered and the first thing i noticed was that the place had depressing interiors, the lighting was not ample, a movie (telugu) was on TV with the volume turned high, and the ceiling fans were louder than the TV.<br/><br/>I chose my corner, sat there and noticed all the plates and spoons placed on a table near the kitchen entrance. A gentleman came for the order and by the looks of him i wasnt sure how good chinese these people could cook.<br/><br/>Anyhow, i ordered for a Veg Fried Rice and A Gobhi(Cauliflower) Manchurian. Around 10 minutes later my order was ready and the guy polietly served the dishes.<br/><br/>They looked nice, smell nice and the quantity was huge. When i started eating i felt that the food not only looked great but the taste was really really nice. Both the dishes were tasty espically the cauliflower manchurian was crispy and golden in color. Just the way i loved. The quantity was so much that i ate a plate full of food twice and there was still a third serving in the bowls. I got it packed so that i can have that back in my hotel room.<br/><br/>The place has its negatives but my experience was a really good one. And its a thumbs up from me. One more thing. The bill was just around 220 bucks which was really cheap and worth the money.<br/><br/>Ambience: 5/10, Service: 8/10, Taste: 9/10, Value for Money: 9/10

Hunan Chinese restaurant is located in central secunderabad area at diamond towers beside Taj Tristar It's in the cellar. The hunan is one of the most oldest Chinese place in secunderabad most of the people have unaware this place. Wanted to have hot N sour soup so just recently i visited here after ages maybe around 15 years later and i have been there in a doubt that this place is still open or closed down but when I reach there am surprised to see the place is literally same nothing has changed in this year's might be they must have many renovations the place with the same simple Chinese theme which usually Chinese restaurants had. And the resto was full of customers on one table were waiting for me I felt😊 luckily I don't need to wait to opt my table this place must be fully busy in the weekends and the resto is small with around 9 tables. Well I use to go there to have the Soups chicken fried rice and the wet chicken manchuria were that was my most favourite at this restaurant some how I stop visiting here and two days back I have been here again and i order the hot N sour soup few minutes they took to place my soup on my table what I see and I got the quick remembrance the texture of soup was same as i use to have it decade before am sure many cooks have been changed here and surprise to see the same texture and the taste too wow it's my oldest best place for the soup it was really good thick spicy and well blended. I have been to this place couple of times.<br/>A good cozy place. Good food. Decent pricing. <br/>All the thing which can be said about this place is if you wish a good Chinese meal on a hungry afternoon when you are around secunderabad jus with no second thought jus go fill your tummy. <br/>A good place that serves you the decent good priced tasteful food.

A great place, for good and tenaciously tangy Chinese food, it has a wide range of dishes ranging from soups to noodle bowls.The American Chopsuey, is the one that stands out of all dishes. The service is a wee bit slow and as far the ambience goes, you might feel you're in some mafia-meetup place, the place itself is built in the basement. So if you're up to taste some good Chinese and only bothered about food, Hunan is a good place to dine out with friends...!!!

It is not the fanciest of places with clean satin kerchiefs and shining silverware, but if you are looking at a inexpensive place for great Chinese food then this is your stop. Authentic Chinese food in very commendable proportions is served here. Their basket noodles and chicken spring rolls can make my mouth water just by the sound of it. This is a great place for a low budget but large appetite for Chinese food. The service is quick and prompt and thought the place is small; it attracts a good number of families and couples. Thumbs up for this place for its great tasting food and service.

A small Chinese restaurant the quality off the food was not so good but I loved the golden prawns.<br/>The ambience is not so good the placehas no proper lighting but fits into everyones budget..!

Had really good Szechwan fried rice after a long time...good place to go to if you are tired of going to Nanking and Chung Hua...dont expect much from ambience...it's probably a place you would go to if you were having an affair or conducting some secret business ;)

It's a awesome place to have Chinese food which you never forget and you would like to go there every time.
