Review Trattoria - Shillong

Subham Maiti
I had Jadoh and a dish called doh sniang nei long ( pork dish with sesame seeds or something ) . Simply loved it. I only liked one chutney among three. But Jadoh was too good. There was a pork meatball and two pork items. Loved it. Highly recommended if you're a pork lover. Chicken items are also available. Try it out if you're in Shillong. The price was 250 but it was worth it.

One of the famous restaurants of shillong. Famous for local khasi cuisine. Honestly speaking I don't like the taste but everybody must try once. We tried jadoh and dosiar.

We went to Meghalaya as tourists and wanted to try the traditional foods there. So we visited Trattoria. The place is cozy and it was old school like atmosphere . They had the options of veg, fish, chicken, mutton, pork jadoh and as side dishes. We asked them to provide their best items as we tried to taste it and it was really delicious. We took chicken, mutton, pork and fish. The fish was like light stew/curry type. The mutton and pork was so delicious We, total 6 people enjoyed the food. Additionally we took mutton and pork meatballs.

Situated on the right side when you enter Police Bazaar. The area of the restaurant is small but the food is great and fulfilling. The restaurant opens around 1pm, so it's good place for lunch if you're in PB. If you're in Shillong then this place is a must try! Especially the Pork Thali.

First the service will win you over and then the lip-smacking food. The Khasi Pork Thali is a MUST TRY! I’ve never eaten better pork, ever. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. They explain what’s on your plate. I strongly recommend getting there by 6 PM as most items disappear by 6:30-7:00. We reached at around 7 and Jadoh Rice and some items were finished. But whatever our super polite waiter brought us was just so amazing that we didn’t even look up while eating. During peak season, reach as early as you can. Also, you have to try to the pork balls and liver, mind blowing stuff. It’s a small space so you might have to wait a while depending upon when you get there. Overall I’d just say YOU CANNOT MISS THIS PLACE when in Shillong.

The food was good, ambience was good, 4.5 I should give as I feel a bit difficult to locate the shop. The restaurant is not so spacious. After 7 pm u will hardly find the traditional KHASI THALI, better to visit the place during the Lunch period. Taste 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambience 4/5 Value for money 5/5 * Second time lucky to visit the place, this time for the Lunch * This restaurant located in the heart of Shillong offers a delightful experience with its authentic Khasi Thali. The food is truly exceptional, capturing the rich flavors of local cuisine. The friendly staff cater to your needs, enhancing the experience further. This I had no issues in locating the restaurant 😅 However, the absence of a menu card was a letdown. I enjoyed the Khasi pork Thali priced at 280 which was worth the taste. If you seek an authentic culinary journey, this restaurant won't disappoint.

Excellent eating place to savour authentic Khasi dish here. Located right at heart of Police Bazaar, Shillong. Decore and ambience lacks but is compensated by good food. A meal of three cost Rs 970. Consisting two pork containing plate and one chicken plate cooked Khasi way.

Wonderful place. Small but cozy. They accommodate 12/13 tables in a place where others would manage 4. Average service takes about 2/3 minutes. Food is almost always top notch. Very busy, but still v clean. Go to place for some nostalgic khasi food. Polite ppl

I visited at 7:30, even though they close at 8, and they were completely sold out except for this one type of meal. It was nice, but I wish I had the option to try more. The owner was very nice, and the ambience at this restaurant is pretty old-school but charming. It is located right in the heart of Police Bazaar and parking will be a problem. It's worth going to if they have a choice of items to try and enjoy. I was disappointed to have driven around for an hour looking for parking, only to leave unsatisfied. If you're not having Jadoh in Trattoria in Police Bazar, what are you even doing there? 😄 One of the best Jadoh places you can find easily. It's in the Police Bazar, just near the junction. It's kind of a small place, and opens a little later in the day (after 12:30pm if I remember correctly), so look carefully so that you don't miss it. You'll get traditional pork Jadoh and different thalis. We had Jadoh and Chicken thali, both were really good. Unless there's other reasons, I'd recommend sticking to the classic only. Just remember it's not a fine dining place, where you share a table and bench with others, so go with that expectation. Also it gets pretty crowded as soon as it opens, so maybe go even before they open.

Great place if you are thinking to try authentic Khadi food in midst of Shillong. The owner is very friendly. But please make sure you tell them what you want to have. In doing so, you will save money and not waste food. Fermented food isn't for everyone's palate. Must visit.

Less Vegetarian options, but Worth a try for Khasi food cuisines.

Awesome food awesome experience and awesome taste .. go empty stomach to eat from here .. small clean places to sit and eat and veg and non veg available . Veg chicken fish pork available . No beef served. Cash upi accepted. No washroom . No ac . Just in main police bazar location . East to find opposite bhajanlal mobiles . Can take individually items or take thali combo. Try jadon and meatballs mandatory . Price on little higher side compared to food portion . 200 rs for veg thali is little on higher side . Visit once in lifetime

Best gateway to Khasi cuisine! Recommend the khasi combo platter if it's your first time!Lipsmacking ork dishes too! But can do with better portion sizes and seating. Immensely popular among locals as much as among tourists!
