This place is authentic Manipuri Phunga restaurant very close to the main centre in Shillong. Food and service is very good. More than that the theme, ambience and hospitality is commendable. Must visit in Shillong and be prepared to come relaxed as a traveller and not like a tourist in hurry.

We had Manipuri Chicken Thalis and a Fish Thali.. All the items tasted really good and felt homely as well.. The prices are reasonable and the staff is quite polite and gave us good service.. The place is cosy as well.. Would highly recommend people if searching for a place to have lunch or dinner in Shillong, this is a go for..

Good thali. Tried pork, was awesome. Other vegetable dishes-boil, uti (khar), eromba, shinju adds tot he manipuri cuisine. Dal was quite different from the other eateries.

When I first came to this restaurant, I only went because of my wife. She is meitei and she was craving for manipuri food. She told me that the restaurant wasn’t that good 2 years ago when she was working in the area. But It was the only restaurant that had manipuri food so we came here. My wife was shocked that the foods were so delicious unlike the food she ate couple years ago. She said it tasted like a home meal. She loved the kangsoi, eromba, sinju and the chicken curry. She was so happy. I didn’t eat because I am new to manipuri food and to be honest, I don’t like it that much. On out 3rd visit of this restaurant, I decided to try out the pork curry. And it was damn good. It was spicy but the taste was amazing. It tasted like Si krom(Southern Thai style of pork curry)from Thailand. We have discovered that couple month ago the main chef has been changed to a new chef, Mr. Gyaneshwor. The chef was humble and kind. Most importantly, his food is damnnn good! I have married to a meitei wife but I wasn’t big fan of manipuri food(I am Korean) But I can eat Chef Gyaneshwor’s food all day long. No kidding :) When we come back to Shillong next time, we will definitely come everyday. Thanks for the great food experience!

Great find in the heart of Shillong. Always wanted to try the exotic veggies of Manipur, but it was to materialise in Meghalaya. Stopping by is worth your time for... 1. Excellent food quality, taste and presentation along with some really exotic vegetables from the region. 2. Housed in a Victorian era building, the place is charming 3. It also doubles up as a small cultural front and could see a lot of local events. What might irk you... 1. The somewhat indifferent service, which was corrected once I spoke my mind. 2. A flight of stairs to climb..unless you are absolutely unwell, this is not an issue! Overall a great experience. Worth stopping by.

I loved the way how well the chicken was cooked. It was tender and flavourful. The vibe of the place is amazeballs, worth a visit and the food here is worth being tasted. The owner is a good happy man, who enjoys his life so well. Everything here was so good that I might be visiting this place again at night for dinner (DID I TELL YOU THEY SERVE BASIC FOOD TILL 10:30!, even if you're late af in Shillong, you'll be fine by it)

The thalis were good. My favourite item here was Smoked Pork with Axone. The ambience is also really nice and cozy.

This is a speciality resturant serving manipuri cuisine. The name displayed is Phunga. The veg starter and red tea is what we tried and u would recommend the veg started. The pakora was tasty and the potato fries have a different taste.
