Review Highway Shacks Restaurant - Shillong

We reached this place by 3 PM approx. for lunch. This place offers both veg and non-veg options. (Not a halal restaurant though) The fried rice (pic) varieties here are authentic, with their small rice grains and perfect Chinese taste. we had ordered soups, chicken pakoda (pic), Paneer mutter, tikka, egg thali, chicken curries, naan, roti, schezwan fried rice.. All tasted good. Basically NE people have less salt in food comparatively, so no complains on that. we can sprinkle and manage the taste buds :) Overall, this place impressed us with it taste as well as price (300-400 per head)

Food was good. At first glance it seemed overpriced but then the quality of food seemed to justify its price. It was however unfortunate that the service was not that great. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes to get our table cleaned which had some leftover food from the previous guests. We asked atleast 2-3 times to get it cleaned but still had to wait a lot. However some other tables were cleaned earlier than ours. I think there is a lack of proper communication between the service staff. Hope they sort it out amongst themselves.

On the way to dawki, or on the way to Shillong Peak, you may stop over for lunch. They have assamese, bengali, north indian and chinese cuisine. Snacks are also available. Food is rich. They have veg thali, egg thali, fish thali, chicken thali, mutton thali options too. I tried veg thali, masala kulcha, tandoori roti and mutton rogan josh. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating arrangement too. Washrooms are clean and decent.

When traveling from Guwahati to Sohra(Cherapunuji)consider Highway Shacks Dhaba for a delightful dining experience. This restaurant is known for its delectable Assamese and Bengali thalis. The beautiful garden setting, complete with private huts, enhances the overall experience, making it an ideal choice for those who appreciate regional cuisine.

Both food quality and quantity is good for price. A lot of tourist cars give a halt in this Dhaba. One can get all type of Indian foods along with Chinese food as well. Ambiance is good too.

On the way from Shillong to Cherapunji, this hut-themed restaurant is situated. Our driver suggested this place. The food is amazing with so many choices and flavours. We ordered Tandoori rooti, butter naan, chole & Mutton roganjosh.Mutton tasted amazing. Great food quality 👌 Ambience is awesome. They have huts instead of a normal hall which provides privacy. Staffs are well behaved. Toilets are clean which is hard to find these days. They also have a bonfire setup. I really enjoyed my visit here. Great experience 👍

All in all experience was top notch! The food was good, price was awesome for the quantity of the food, got varieties of taste, all in was food was wholesome😇 Beverages were refreshing and the ambience was nice! How ever the Washroom could improve more as for good hygiene! (Handwash was not refilled) which is a key point as many would be eating by hands as for indian dishes mostly! Do look into it cause I would personally love to come again. The highlight was the service of Sanjit. He was polite, attentive and helpful! Thank you😇

Food is reasonably priced and delicious, service needs improvement in terms of sequencing dishes as per order.

The food taste quality both were great. Infact my friend liked the food most. The chill factor also made the dining experience great. Malai kofta is a must try.

The food tastes great, fresh and not very spicy. The cost is not cheap but not high either. You sit inside the wooden pods, which feels great and you can close the gate if it is cold outside.

For dinner we had chicken noodles and dry fry chicken. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. Everyone was extremely courteous. We also had breakfast and the cheese omelet was fluffy, soft, tasty and a lot of cheese. It was a great experience. We had also ordered aloo paratha which was not that great. The Chinese items are extremely tasty.

Been here 3 times and have tried Chicken Roll , Chicken Thali and chicken Biryani . Biryani is the least I like but yeah very difficult to find a good Biryani in Meghalaya. The roll and thali are awesome. The lemon soda sweet and salty wasn't so good . They have rounded shacks which are nice . They also kept a bonfire since winter is nearby and it's location is very cold in winter. Service is also good.Overall I love this place.

Really awesome place with a nice ambience. Family cottage like huts for seating. Very good food and fast service. Debojeet was very helpful in choosing the items and was a pleasure to talk to. Highly recommended.
