Review Shree Sainath Snacks Stall - Surat

Hiral Amodia
Quick Summary: Shree Sainath Snacks, a longstanding South Indian establishment in Surat, impresses with its authentic fare. A favorite among Surti locals, its Mysore Masala Dosa is a standout dish. Despite a little higher on prices, the consistently delicious food makes it a worthwhile experience. Be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends. Details: Shree Sainath Snacks holds a special place in Surat's culinary scene, tracing its roots from a small thela near Bhagal Char rasta to its current bustling location. The continuous crowd in the waiting area attests to its enduring popularity among locals. The star of the menu is the Mysore Masala Dosaβ€”a crisp and spicy dosa served with a flavorful tomato curry reminiscent of Pau Bhaji's bhaji. This signature dish graces almost every table, reflecting its widespread appeal. Other menu highlights include the savory Masala Dosa, comforting Idli Sambar, and the unique Fried Idli. While the food consistently delights the taste buds, the pricing tends to be on the higher side compared to similar South Indian joints. However, for those prioritizing taste over cost, the culinary experience may justify the expense. Patience is key when dining at Shree Sainath Snacks, especially during peak hours. The waiting area sees a constant stream of visitors even on weekdays, and weekends demand extra patience. Despite the crowds, some find that the lively atmosphere adds to the overall charm of the place. In conclusion, Shree Sainath Snacks offers a flavorful journey through South Indian cuisine, with the Mysore Masala Dosa stealing the spotlight. While prices may deter some, the consistently delicious offerings make it a destination worth considering for South Indian food enthusiasts. Be prepared for a wait, but the culinary delights make it a memorable experience. Signing Off Hiral Amodia (Insta : amodiahs)

crispy dosa, idli, vada, sambar, uttapam, and curries.to flavorful curries, each item on the menu is a delightful celebration of South Indian cuisine. The ambiance is crowded, the service is prompt, and the staff's 😐 ok ok .If you're a fan of South Indian cuisine or looking to explore good flavors, Dosa is a must-visit. A good one time experience that keeps me coming back for more!

Quality marks 5/5 stars. Taste wise, mild yet Rich in flavours. My must try food was Samosas !!! Go early as possible, Plan it for dinner, you can't just rush as it has a long waiting list. But still no compromise with food quality and flavours. When I said Quality food, you can feel same after dinner. Satisfies....
Ayush Saxena
The food is a bit overpriced but worth the price. I had a masala idli and one samosa. Just felt like I was at home. North Indians may not like a the samosa because the filling is not spicy but it's good to eat. Service was excellent. Totally recommended.

Sainath stands out as an authentic destination for savoring South Indian cuisine. It boasts top-quality dosas, uttapams and Idlis, with my personal favorite being the Mysore masala dosa and vada. The flavors of their sambar and chutney are incredibly gratifying, unlike anything I've tasted recently. For those seeking exceptional food without the need for a fine dining atmosphere, Sainath is a must-visit. The Nanpura branch also offers a comfortable air-conditioned seating area.

It's quite difficult to find tasty south Indian food specially in Gujrat but thanks to zomato it helps me to get best south Indian food available in the city if this outlet is in Mumbai I wl give 3 star since its in Surat I wl give 4 star as it serves in the area where getting south Indian food is quite difficult I ordered meduvada Idli and butter Sada.

Medu vada and Idli is quite tasty as it was prepared by south Indian cook, Dosa was quite crispy as I didn't advise them to make soft at the end of the day it was very good experience
Jasmin Wadia

Food Quality is good, But Attitude of Restaurant Owner is very BAD... Customer is nothing for him.. we were going 2 times in a week. one day we found some issue in food so we have just told him that its was not good. but he didn't even try to test and give rudely answer. try to not go there thank you.
Yuvraj Solanki

At this price, i never had this authentic taste of dosa before. there are many dosa joints in surat but this small place won my heart. You don't get fancy dosas here but get authentic south indian breakfast style menu. we've ordered masala dosa and mysore dosa both were amazing. masala idli i found average to my taste... service was good...if you're dosa lover then definitely try this place !
Neeraj Aggarwal
Went there many times. Mysore masala dosa is awesome. Onion uthapam is also very good. Only problem is that the place is very crowded and even though service is very fast still you have to wait at least 30 mins always.
Bhavik Parikh
One of the best place to have south Indian food in Surat. They serve the best mysore masala dosa and it is a must try for everyone who goes here. A special mention for their samosa which is my personal favourite. Everything here is good and this is a kind of place where you only go for good food and not ambience or anything else.
Akshat Shah
This place is a sort of place where you forget the ambience once you eat the first bite of food. Food is prepared with love and care. Sambhar and chutney are the treasure out here. Not a long list of menu but the short menu with epic taste
Nalbandh Yunus

Arshad Shaikh
One of the my favorite destination for South Indian cousin. Taste of Dosa is delicious. My favorite here is Maysor Masala Dosa and Dahi Vada
Prabodh Nagar
One of the very few authentic south indian restaurants in Surat, not serving you DHOSAS of novelties, but the genuine south indian taste.
The spongy idli or the crunchy vada leaves you spellbound with the spicy saambhar to savour.
Their mysore masala dosa is a must have with the masala or bhaji served separately.
The sweet but plain dahi vada is a must try item too.
They are missing on the refreshing 'ginger-lemon' being served by one of the close competitor else it would be a head-on!
You'll find all of their restaurants always packed with foodies in peak hours.
May have to wait over 30-45 minutes on a weekend.
Keep it up πŸ‘
Sakshi

As they say, old is gold. This shop has been there since I came to Surat. The taste is still the same and the service too.Wonderful mysore masala dosa and vadas. I have literally tried everything by now and in love with most of the items available. Not a fancy restaurant but it has what anybody needs viz. good food, good service and paisa wasool feeling.
Meet Kothari
3rd class experience...i dntknw why people recomenned sai ke dhosa ni khaaye tune...sai ka south indian ni khaya tune...and yesterday when i went firstly i waited in que for 45min and then i got the table. And when i ordered and had mysore masala dhosa it was of so normal taste which u can get anywhere i believe better than it. And also tried jain mysore masala and that was really pathetic tasted like was having a dhosa with a tomato soup. Waited for 45min and gotup with my food done just in 20min. Worst recommendation i received.

The place has the typical ambience of a South Indian restaurant. The waiters were kind, friendly and extremely prompt.
The food is definitely good enough to make it the best South Indian Restaurant in Surat.
Abhinav Sharma
One of the most vintage places with a great authentic south indian dishes !!
Its there since my school days !
Recently they have revamped their menu and have included some new items like masala idli, butter idli, etc.
Ambience is basic
They dont need to woo customers, their taste speaks in itself !!
I recently had Butter Idlii and the amount of butter they gave with was toooooooooooooo much !!
I had to eat that butter with my masala dhosa

White coconut Chutni could have been better

Overall a good experience
Slightly high prices as compared to other Sai Dhosa in Ring Road
That one also serves some great food !!!
Manthan
Nice samosas and Dosa. It's been there since long I guess. Fast service and South Indian food is the forte for this restaurant. Little congested area is the only concern.

Ðarshak Patel
Awesome and Authentic Taste
Quality : 4.5 / 5
Cleanliness is taken care of, must visit.Β
only limitation is the space, due to the limited sitting waiting gets longer.
Monil Shah
Best south Indian food restaurant in surat. Mysore masala dosa is best item of them must try it. Dosa serve with bhaji is best match and also idle and mendu vada are good. Ankit Mistry
The one place you will want to go for best south Indian food.....a no nonsense place with fixed taste that is same for decades....place is small with large crowd so expect noise and congestion....when it comes to food try their signature dish Mysore Masala Dosa....if you like spicy then all their normal dosas have an option of adding their special spice....go there for when you are just hungry and want a good taste....you won't be disappointed
Priyanka Gandhi
I would like to rate them a 3.5 but since Zomato doesn't have decimals now I've to give them a 4 though they aren't that good. A decent canteen type place serving only south Indian food. We had the potato wada, mendu vada, mysore dhosa everything of which was pretty good. The food was hot and tasty. Ambience is ok and the cleanliness was good. The service was super fast. Not bad to go there once a while.
Denish Shah

Great taste specially samosa. Dosa varieties are awesome. I personally prefer Mysore masala and rawa masala. Just avoid sat-sun due to heavy rush or change the location.
Pratik Agarwal
Best place to have south indian cuisine. Its a small joint with Air condition and best service you could ask for. Mysore masala dosa, Samosa and fried idly r my favourite. Their sambhar and chatni add icing to d cAke πŸ˜‹πŸ˜
Vikas Savani

Good place to have south indian food!
Service is fast. Staff is co-operative.
Not very expensive too!
Highly recommend for idli dosa lovers.
Deven Tekrawala
Consistent Taste. Fast services..
Only lacking point is you cannot go there if you want to spend time. All items are good in taste and price is also reasonable.
Pramit Golechha
Taste and quality is very nice, cleanliness deserves 5 stars. Little expensive compared to similar restaurant. Best thing is the opening time 8:00 am. So best south Indian breakfast restaurant.
Nilufer K. Amroliwalla
The cutest lil joint with really amazing food. Absolutely loved it. Do have the mendu wada sambhar and the mysore masala dosa. The tea and coffee were wonderful.

Decided to have a good dinner after reading reviews about it on Zomato. 4.9 wow. Had great expectations but hugely disappointed with the food. Nothing extraordinary.
Amazing Experience. You should definitely visit here.

MYSORE Dhosa is my favorite here and combo of Idli Mendu vada.

I have visited Nanpura outlet. I don't know abtthe other outlets if there any
Karran R Kapoor
The Mysore Masala dosa is the best in Surat. Their butter blends so well in the dosa you could taste it in every bite of the meal. They also have good idlis. Very good place for breakfast since it is relatively empty at that time.
Surati_foodie_girl (Jaya Variyava)
you will always find so much crowd over here... very old place for south indian food in surat.though its a small joint but it is very clean and tidy .super fast service.. and food is just like heaven..
Akshay Kharbanda
It's been quite some time that I visited this but it was my go to place for south Indian cuisine in Surat. The service is impeccable and the joint is extremely clean and tidy. The food is by far the best South Indian food I have had in the country. It's unbelievable that it's in Surat and not somewhere in South India.
Vishwanil
Best Canteen Restaurant for South Indian Foods.
It's taste and Service is similar to daily eateries located nearby Commercial Hub of each city.

Similar taste, feel and Service is available at MYSORE CAFE, near Dhiraj Sons, Athwa Gate.

Food : Typical South Indian Taste

Location : Tough to find out, better you call them.

Ambience : In basement, little uncomfortable for some.

Service : Good.

Famous in masses.
Hetang Prajapati
The best remains best. Very nice taste , interior is okay when you have a budget restaurant. Just one thing that they have to increase is the varieties in menu. Othereise all things are good.
Parth Patel
Fresh hot and tasty food in morning,
β™¨οΈπŸ˜‹
Probably best choice for morning breakfast in south Indian food categories in napura area in surat

Cherag Bodhanwala
This place is perfect for the south indian lovers .. The Service here is good .. and the food is value for money.. Its good to go there always ! One of my most favourite places !
Rupesh Panchal
Two years back when I visited #Surat, my colleague took me to one small south indian restaurant. Mysore Masala Dosa was the plate we ordered and the taste was matchless. I roamed many places in #Ahmedabad but yet to find such spicy, delicious taste. Now got a chance today to visit the same restaurant.

Shree Sainath Snacks Stall, situated at Nanpura, Surat serves you mouthwatering Dosas at a very affordable price. What I like the most is dosa with Spicy Bhaji having delicious taste of Tomato gravy in a seperate dish. I ate almost 3 plain dosa with this Bhaji and the taste is like pure heaven. Do visit it when you are in Diamond city of #India.
Sumit
To sum it up in a few sentences - I have moved to bangalore but I still come to this restaurant serving South Indian cuisine when I'm in Surat. Love their Jain mysore masala and uttapam. A full 5 for that!!
Purvy Vyas

Sainath is the best joint for a heavy breakfast if u r a South Indian food lover like me....
I would have rated it 5 only if they could have a better ambiance...
Food quality - superb
Food serving speed - better than superb
Qty - reasonable

So many fond memories with friends during school days having amazing experience here

My all time favourite - MYSORE SADA DOSA
PLZ note it is Sada and not Masala
It has the Nariyal Chatni inside it
Kindly clarify it before ordering as it is not mentioned in their menu items...
Rishi Sanghvi
Don't Judge a Book by its Cover. The Best South Indian Cuisine in Surat!!!
Ambience can be a problem!! Recommended dish Mysore masala dosa!!
Dolu Darshan Shah
Sober place to be.. The masala in Mysore masala dosa had the exact hint of mix taste..

Paper masala dosa is to die for.. Dahi vada has sweet hint of curd and also my fav..

Easy sitting and air conditioned room.
Early place to avoid waiting.. Simplicity of the place and the food.. Anna truly rocks..
Dr. Deep H. Wankawala
Ahhh... Sainath !!!

Good Old Memories !!!

More popularly known as "Anna's Dosa" by most of his oldest customers.
I remember going to this place since I was like 3 years old.

Need not even look at the menu!!!

Unlimited Sambhar and Chutney, the coconut chutney is to die for !!! The taste has been consistent from the beginning of time !!!

This snack stall has a really special place in my heart and nothing can beat it ever, that's for sure...

If someone finds a better place than this, give me a text in the comments below and the treat will be on me.
SOUNDS DELECIOUS
If you really want to taste Β good south Indian food then this is perfect place in surat. The food tastes great and great variety with lots of south Indian dishes.
Uttppam was one of the most tastiest of the all that were ordered.
One of the best thing about this place is that you can have unlimited sambhar and coconut chutney.
**The only bad thing about the place is that you have to wait more than an hour for dinner which could frustrate you. This is best in the area therefore crowded. By seeing the waiting time you could leave without eating but remember **SABR KA FAL MEETHA HOTA HAI** and you wouldn't curse that thing once youu have tried it .
Devanand Mudaliar
You will be able to find a new variety of Mysore Dosa here, n dats Surati Mysore dosa. Small pocket restaurant is one of the fast serving, clean, n Mumbai istyle South Indian fast food chain. Enough of reading.. Take a left from Sbi branch Nanpura n get ur name on the list.. Coz :) u will find a long waiting list
Shashang Marchawala
For South Indian Food lovers, this place is simply heaven. I used to visit this place often. Ambience is not good but Food quality is very good. Specially Mysore Dosa and South indian Samosa.

Overall ratings:

Ambience : 3/5
Food : 5/5
Staff : 5/5
Vidisha
I have been going to this place since a long time now. It is the most recommended place for south indian lovers when in Surat city. They have a very short and simple menu with not much of a variety to choose. But whatever they serve is always the best. The ambiance is that of a typically small classical south indian joint. Be it a weekend or a weekday it is always crowded and you need to wait for at least 15 minutes before you could get yourself a table. My personal favourites here are Masala dosa and Mysore Masala dosa. The service here is excellent and real quick even when crowded. It is quite economical on pockets too.

PS: I WISH THEY INCLUDE FILTER COFFEE IN THEIR MENU.

Much recommended for South Indian food lovers.Aakanksha

Sainath... the name sounds synonymous when ur in Surat and looking out for South Indian Cuisine... however, trust me there are many Sainaths which have taken advantage of the Name and started South Indian Joints... Some are Good and Some just....

So in my quest to find the ORIGINAL... I landed here.. Shree Sainath Snack Stall...

What I felt...

The Location - Well nothing great to mention, a bit difficult to find if ur not a local...

The Ambiance - A Typical Joint with no fuss at all and would remind u of a classical south Indian joint...

The Wait: I had been there at around 8.30pm... and had to wait for about 15 mins... however a must mention is the way they handle the queuing ...good effort...

The Service - Excellent... we got our order in less than 10 mins... even at the peak hours... now this is commendable... and yes the repeat (running) orders were fulfilled in even less time...

Now the most Crucial and Important Review... The Food...

What We ordered -Β

1. Mysore Masala (Butter)
2. Dahi Wada
3. Plain Cheese Dosa
4. Plain Dosa (with red chutney sprinkled over) (running)

A special Mention for the Dahi Wada... I see this as a Litmus Test for South Indian Joints and SS passed with distinction... #wahbhaiwah
Mysore masala was yet another delicacy... and we had it with the plain cheese... which made the taste wonderfully exceptional ...Β

I would surely be back for yet another litmus on IDLI and MEDU... shall include in this review later...

THE ONLY CON - I was deprived of the COFFEE !!!

Well so I sum it up and confer the 4.5 stars as a honorarium to The Shree Sainath Snacks... Indeed a Good Eat....

P.S: We shelled out Just 310 for this wonderful meal...

Shree Sainath is a decent casual dine place where you get simple and decent South Indian food. The location does not have proper parking, going there in the evenings is somewhat a punishment due to the long waiting lines. I would recommend going for a takeaway instead. The food is really good and I mean seriously, the Sambar is as authentic as it can be. The dosas are fantastic and the masalas with them and the accompanying chutneys are also awesome. The staff is decent and well mannered. I would call it the one of the top South Indian serving restaurant in Surat
Aliasgar
For South Indian food everyone with us recommends this joint, good taste and can also say value for money. Service is good too ... Enjoyed .. Hope to visit again Soon ......
Dev Shroff
Have carvings for south Indian food? It's the right place to satisfy your cravings. The menu is very simple & there's nothing fancy in the dosas.

The taste of food is the best. There's no good place for Mysore Masala Dosa in surat but this. The rates are a little higher than Mysore cafe but the taste is way better.

The place won't disappoint you. There's parking problem but it can be ignored for food.
Abhishek Kamdar
Dhosa Idali or menduwada
U wouldn't find better place in surat than this
Everything from cleaning to food is just awesome
Only Problem is hotel space and interior
U wouldn't found luxury dining kind of experience
Rates are also very reasonable
Must try Udupi restaurant if u are in surat
Niddhish Kapadia
you will find lots of variety of dosas in Surat but if you want authentic sambhar & coconut chutney with the quality taste this is the place for you.always very busy and crowded.Food is good don't go for ambience. They have keep the same good quality from last 2 decades.
Gaurav Goenka
It's the best South Indian restaurant.....taste main best...only problem is the parking... But compared to the quality and taste the problem is minimized...a must visit
Sagar Saraiya
The authentic South Indian taste and the most reasonable prices in town, Sainath continues to be a quick bite place for every Surti I believe. It has expanded and developed too well since its inception but the taste and authenticity haven't shifted an inch. If not anything else you ought to have its Samosas every time you step in there, the simplest and the best of its menu. The only backdrop that you will find as a consumer is the long waiting queue :P, defining their fame!
Manasi Hathiwala
Best place for a quick bite!
This place is pocket friendly and one of the best South Indian places in Surat . No over the top menu and quick service.
My all time favorite is Mysore masala dosa and I definitely recommend it.
The sad part, they don't serve Sosyo now :(
Amit Patel
Probably The Best South Indian restaurant of all those 've been to. They serve Authentic South Indian food. More importantly, things are very clean- the tables, dishes, overall hygiene, the waiters, and kitchen as well. The kitchen is all open and visible . The owner seems to be very keen on keeping things clean. Everything is great about this place except for the interiors, which is not so great . But for the price, it fits in. And after all, if the food tastes great and everything is hygienic, who cares about interiors. A+ all the way.
Hardik Vasanwala
Sainath dosa is the place where I have gone since 10 years and never have disappointed...south indian taste of this restaurant u cant compare with any of the other restaurant atleast in surat..I gaurantee it... please do visit if u r in search of nice south ondian cusine..
Parth Patel
One of
The best places to have south indian cuisine,
Very fast service..
And it's way too cheap ..!!
Kapil Kapadia
Great food !!!!!! Don't miss south indian dishes!!!! Fresh food...!!! Order comes at right time no need too wait for long time.... Staff is good.
Digvijaychavada
Don't miss out dis joint if you are in City....love their all dishes....must try for all South Indian dishes....love dis place.....0.5 extra for taste nd cutting 0.5 for ambience....but feel ambience is compensated by taste....
Jimit Vaidya
My all time favorite South Indian restaurant this is ! Great taste everytime. My favorite item in menu here is always Mysore Masala and the quality and taste like this of it.... rare very rare. And yes budget friendly too !
Ranjankumar Sahoo
If its morning weekend then its definitely sainath dhosa for me.
Love the Mysore masala dhosa served here.
Nice place to chill out with friends.
Guys you must expand your place.
Vishnu Jadia
Nice and zippy.
A 15 min lunch is possible at this place and u wont be dissatisfied.
The utthappa is crisp and fat alongwith a heap of good veggies alongwith the somosa which is a famous grab too.
Guru Mitul Shah
One of the Oldest South Indian Food Joint in Surat. I have witnessed his journey from A "Lariwala" to a restaurant set up and than branches. Business has grown and they have given their 100% to cope up with that. They maintained the quality and taste. But Β my few recent experiences [At Adajan Branch] were a question mark of their image in my mind. Taste of the food was compromised looking at the crowd. Service was okay but could have been fast and accurate.Β

But i am sure that they will find a way out of it and once again assure to be the best brand of South Indian Food in Surat.
Theveryhungrycaterpillar
I am equally surprised to see only one review for this Dosa institution in Surat. Started as a small roadside "laari", this place has become a favourite for South Indian food( read- dosa, idli, medu vadas, assorted street food items). Their dosas are truly good, so are the Sambar-chutney. Mysore masala dosa is truly a wonder, pair it with another plain dosa and you're done. Their service is also good, but hurried, they will not have time for chit and chat, because there are hoards of people waiting in line. Absolutely everything on the menu is outstanding, but for me, the hard to find " south indian samosa" and equally rare Mysore Masala Dosa steal the show.
Rohan Hatia
Best South Indian joint in Surat. Order blindly from menu and I guarantee that sainath dosa won't disappoint you. I love their Mysore masala which is very unique if u compare it with Mysore masala available in city other than Surat.
Even the accompanied sambhar and coconut chutney tastes same every time u go.
I was wondering that how come the topper of class isn't in the list.
