Dependable as ever for the seafood and NonVeg thali option. No fuss and taste to go back again and again to .. love the prawns options they have .. yummy The Malvani food is spot on. Bombil Masala, Chicken Rassa, Prawns Fry with Bhakri ki roti, thecha and pyaaz, along with the way of preparation brings about a homely feel to the food. I try visiting the restaurant whenever I crave the Malvani food. To end it all, have a Kharvas :) Their service staff is very polite and courteous. Love the ambiance. Can’t lay finger on one dish to say it’s the best, that’s what makes the place even better! Go ahead! Treat your taste buds! Do finish meal with a glassful of Solkadi!

Every non veg lover should visit this restaurant, you can visited with family also..We ordered chicken crispy and chicken chilly for starter 🍗. The quantity was good. For the main course we ordered suka chicken and masala chicken with "vada" test is awesome 😋

Visited today afternoon after many years and had ordered for a Prawns masala thali, one Pomfret tawa fry and one plate of Bangda tawa fry. The food was really good, very tasty masala of prawns Curry and the fish was perfectly fried. Loved the food and would love to revisit very soon. The delivery of food was fast 👍👍

The restaurant is awesome and very quick at giving services and discounts during the happy hours. I tried the Chicken hakka noodles for which i was given a discount of 20%. Nice restaurant to go with family and friends. The are known for their seafood speciality. Its a family restaurant and bar.

Kolambi bhaat .. the best . Prawns bombil and surmail a class second . Solkadi was great too... They know their food.. some spicy and tasty but u just can't stop eating

Quite old restaurant, still at its best. I with my family visited this place on weekday it was fully empty. We had lollipops, prawns thali, chicken tandoori and the dis which was the must try was "dry fish" it was simply awesome. It was super delicious. Other food were good. Staff and service was good but can be better. Few moments i found them ignoring us though the restaurant was fully empty. The 4th star is just for the "dry fish" which bloomed my pallet. Overall good experience

This is a go to place for malvani food and really pocket friendly and delicious. Really appreciate what they offer value for money food at the price also keepig up the quality of food good, the fish thalis were good, solkadi was great too and bhakris were really soft and large at really affordable price.

Prawns size was like peanuts and highly priced. Surmai fry was ok. Prawns bhaat is a hyped dish here which is nothing but dal khichdi added with a few pieces of semi cooked prawns. Sol kadi was the best thing I had here. Overall experience was bad. Very expensive considering the serving size.<br/>Gomantak and Chaitanya in Dadar are better option.

Been here 2-3 days back for dinner.First thing which I noticed here was Ambience... It's nice.<br/>It was less crowded (There was only one family sitting inside may be because it was Monday).<br/>We ordered Bombil Fry,Prawns Masala and Butter Rotis followed by Sol kadhi.<br/>Bombil fry:- It was definitely above average tasted even better with green chutney they serve.. But that WOW Factor was missing.It was bit oily too.<br/>Prawn Masala and Butter Roti:- Prawn masala was cooked in Proper proportion of Masalas and it was definitely tasty butter roti was also nicely prepared with ample amount of butter.<br/>Sol Kadhi:- Being a Malvani I can differentiate between Good Solkadhi and Bad one.Sol Kadhi was extremely chilled and slightly watery too.<br/>Overall experience was good (Credit goes to Prawns Masala) Will definitely like to try other stuff from Menu.👍

The restaurant is specifically for malwani food and you get very good sea food at reasonable price. The surmai fry and the bombil fry is ultimate and the dessert " Kharvas" is a must try dish of this restaurant.

This restaurant has changed to fully AC but still old on menu, so like the place and new change. Even the food is similar as ate before. NICE

After end of Shravan (almost after a month) our family had non veg food. We have visited quite some time visited to this place. This time they have changed the interior, from partially AC to fully AC, Chang the staff and Chang the test of food as well.<br/><br/>Now talk about food....<br/>1. After giving order you have to wait for almost 45 minutes<br/>2. Then you have to chase them for food almost 4 to 5 times<br/>3. But food was good, but they have changed the taste fully.<br/><br/>I'm giving 3* for good food and waiter service<br/><br/>

Restaurant interior was good but food not so . My friends insisted to visit this place so we visited I ordered surmai thali . I was excited as I heard so much about this place , but when I tasted thali it was not even near to Malvani food I have tasted<br/>1. Quantity was not satisfactory<br/>2. Surmai they served was rubbery not good<br/>3. Rice they served was just enjoy for 3 bites<br/>4. Bhakri they served was cold<br/>5. One of the best seafood restos in Thane...very authentic and affordable...they also take requests to make the food as per your taste...do try Thier thali options....also the shell fish is insanely superb...the waiters are not too smart with big instructions u must call the manager for such things ...but end of story Vijaydurg is a hit

First most.. Its not a malavani taste resto.. The way the present is like malvani speciality restaurant. But the taste is just simpler.. The quantity is less than a portion of a bowl. So make sure you check your order. <br/>Service is good and fast. But does not make sense when your food is not quality..

I like the taste of fish fry and Gravy too<br/>The ambience is not very elegant. But taste of masalas is good. Freshness of fish may vary on specific days in week. <br/>Solkadi is not recommended here. <br/>Sukha Javla is a must try.

Had ordered a takeaway for mutton biryani. Though the taste was palatable, I'm still left wondering if it was mutton or bone biryani that I had ordered. The pieces were very less in number with meat barely sticking to the bones. Won't say a value for money and not worth another try. Not happy at all.

A great place to eat meat. I have been ordering from this place since years (ps: free home delivery) and the quality of chicken has always been awesome. I am a big sea food fan and have eaten almost all kinds of malvani style fishes. Never have I ever liked the sea food of this place. The seafood is not up to the mark and not even comparable to the amazing chicken and mutton dishes which are served.

If you like Malvani food then you may want to try this place. Chicken Handi, Surmai fry & Liver masala is good. The bakari is good however they are not made fresh. They just reheat the bakari or chapati. Solkadi is also nice however they lack good deserts. The service & the ambience is pretty ordinary. Also they do not provide home delivery due to lack of resources.

Impromptu dinner plan landed us here .. The place is bit shady with 2 sections AC & Non AC.We tried their Tisrya Thali, Chicken Thali, Kolambi green masala,Bombil fry and solkadhi..Lots of varieties of Thali options are available there ..and thali's are served for both lunch and dinner unlike some restaurants wherein Thali's are served only for lunch.<br/><br/>Waiters are not much attentive and are not bothered about your existence. Food taste is quite good.. so if you are interested in only the food you should visit here and turn blind eye to ambiance..

If ambiance does not take preference over food, one should visit this place for malavani food. Mutton vade is a personal favourite. Good variety of seafood. One should go for thali options from the menu.

We had a family dinner here ... Typical malvani cuisines ... Variety of chicken & mutton dishes as well as fish dishes from dry fish to wet fish ... With kokam kadhi .. the taste of fish curry with bhakri and kokam kadhi was marvellous ❤😍 i would recommend it to sea food lovers.

Been here just once...Yet another Malvani konkan style Restaurant. Tried bombay duck. It was fresh and cooked well. Other dishes also up to the mark. Just didn't had the feel good factor. Ambience ..OK.

So basically we're always here for Kolambi Bhat and my mom keeps asking us to home here all the freaking time. Next in line is Solkadi. The place is a regular diner but the food is traditionally good. Worth a visit for the menu above.

A sudden plan for a dinner with friends. Initially planned to go to "Borivali Biryani Centre" but due to a long queue, we decided to go to this place. A malvani restaurant with speciality in Seafood (what they have written on their board when you enter the restaurant), but frankly speaking, they are not up to the mark what they advertise or supposed to be. <br/>Food : we ordered Manchow Soup, Hot and Sour soup and Chicken sweet corn soup. And all of them are not up to the mark. Never had any soup that bad. Same went with the thalis that we have ordered. It was chicken fry thali, Prawn Vada thali, chicken Vada thali, Kaju Masala and Chapatis. I don't have much to write about as the points given are already saying in detail about the quality of the food. <br/>Service too was not up to the mark. <br/>Overall, not a good experience. But, looking at the crowd who were there at the restaurant, I would say that the malvani taste might be the reason that didn't go well with us. We reached there at about 10 PM and the whole restaurant was full and buzzing. So, I would say that don't go by my review if you like Malvani taste, rather go and try yourself. ;-)

Went alone for diner.<br/>There two sections of hotel a/c and non a/c.<br/>A/c seem to be reserved for families.<br/>Ambience is okay - okay. Tables are very closely placed and it seems a tightly packed space.<br/>Service is bad. They really need to improve it. They just had one captain and 1 waiter. Waiter had no knowledge about anything and captain was madly running as if he was too involved in service but in between the orders he just used to stand at door looking at the road. <br/>Food: I ordered Chicken vada fry thali. I wanted to know about the contents but captain was just running here and there. I managed to ask him in his haste but the information was useless and before I could ask more he ran to next table.<br/>This was the first time I had kombadi vade which were part of thali according to the captain but to my surprise there were no vade in the thali, instead there were puris. I asked him are these the vade which you were supposed to bring he replied yes these are the one. I thought they would have chicken inside and all my guess totally went wrong they were just puri.<br/>Thali also had sol kadi which was good and the chicken masala with extra gravy both in malavani style of preparations. They were average as they tasted somewhat better when were served hot but once they become cold it was totally tasteless!<br/>Maybe this is what the actual kombadi vade are but it is duty of captain to explain his customers about them before they place order.<br/>Bill amount was Rs.180/- which didn't seem worth for 4puri with chicken masala with extra gravy and sol kadhi.<br/>Below average hotel with over excited and helpless staff.

The highlight of this place are the komdi vade and the tisrya masala!! Tandul bhakri and chicken sukka just make your day!! Could do better in the ambience though

Looking for Malvani or Seafood? You will love this place. Its Liver Masala and Solkadhi with Bhakari is amazing. Best Liver Masala I ever ate. The staff is very good, helpful and attentive. The ambience is cool. Must visit once. And try their Liver Masala❤

Although a Restaurant may have an elaborate menu, please stick to the basics i.e. what a particular restaurant is known for. Similarly when at Vijaydurg (VD) stick to the Konkani/Malwani Seafood fare, and Kokani/Malwani versions of red meat. That is what VD is good at. Do not ask for a chicken lollypop, or a veg/chicken munchow soup... you might as well go to other places for the chinese(Indian version of Chinese) or punjabi (VD has that too).<br/><br/>There are both AC and Non-AC sections, prices even in the AC section are reasonable. Do not expect a polished steward/waiter attending to you, nevertheless they are clean, courteous and patient. <br/><br/>Food: <br/>The entire range of seafood is taste-wise great, again please do not expect some great presentation by the chef. Do not assume that they have all the variety of fishes written on the menu, so ask the staff attending on the availability. Bombil Fry and Surmai fry are just awesome, wash them down with Solkadhi. The fish/prawns have always been very fresh.  Thali  with Bhakri (Rice) or Vade (the Kokani/Malwani bread) options are there to choose from, since we do not have them often. Two of us have tried various combinations over the years i.e. one going for Thali and the other for Al-a-carte. I make it a point to order a Solkadhi although a small bowl full of it is a part of Thali.<br/><br/>Also do not miss the Kharwas, a sweet made cow milk (first 1-3 days of cow starting to lactate) a very common sweetmeat in Maharashtra. <br/><br/>Service: I have always been there for Sunday Lunches. If you want quicker services, better be there before everybody else may be by about 12 or 12.30 noon. The services do slow down considerably in the later hours with guests' numbers swelling gradually. AC section has just about 2 service staff (My observation over the years). Also, they get hassled thanks to larger groups giving multiple orders with multiple and ever changing instructions. Do not expect designer plates, forks/spoons. You will be served in steel plates (sometimes with a dent or two), bowls and be given steel spoons. <br/>I have been comfortable with steel crockery, and does not matter either as long as the seafood is very fresh.<br/><br/>However, to enjoy your meal be patient with them. If you are a Maharashtrian/or manage to speak  then do speak with the service staff in Marathi, and they would be at ease with you, and get you things the way you want.<br/><br/>Conclusion: I have not seen this optimal combination i.e. Food Quality and Taste, Comfortable and Cozy sitting arrangement (in the AC section) and above all the price. I am yet to comprehend their economics. Great experience, as always. <br/><br/>Last Advice: Go with an open mind...., thinking about only food, rest will be taken care.<br/><br/>A must visit with family,friends and even colleagues for authentic Kokani/Malwani food, which is not at all heavy on your pocket.

Love the thalis, the prawn koliwadas, the fish fries, the solkadi, the bhakris, vade and chapatis. Great place to entertain your spice-craving taste-buds and it's easy on the wallet too! The Crab and shellfish (tisriyas) masala that they offer are my favourites for life

A Malvani / Konkan restaurant which serves Thali's with different assortment of fishes. Taste wise it was authentic and above average. It was not heavy on the pocket. Worth a try!!!!

Vijaydurg is where you will get typical konkani cuisine. Been here yesterday with my mother. Ambience is good, neat and clean place. They have A/C section also. I been in non-a/c so i give my review on non -a/c part of the restaurant place only. Servicing was nice, waiters know about the dishes when enquired and also give nice suggestions too. We ordered Mutton Biryani and Mutton Fry Thali. As it was non rush hours we got our order quickly. Mutton biryani was little spicy but tasty and was served with koshimbir (Raita). We ordered the thali wid rice bhakkri/chapati. As konkani speciality it consisted with Mutton Fry Thick Gravy, Bhaji, Curry and typical solkadi. Both the dishes were little spicy but tasty as well. Mutton was perfectly cooked and was tasty. So if you want to try out some of the special konkani dishes you should really try out this restaurant. Overall had a nice experience visiting this restaurant. :D

a good place to have malwani food. The kombdi vade are excellent here though they can improve more on the chicken curries and sol kadhi. Not the traditional or regular sol kadhi and it more tasted like chass. The chicken gravy was more like masala based which should have been more like curry based. But overall taste is good.
