Ambience is very good and worth going. I tried dinner buffet with 16 options including side dishes. It was very filling and we couldn't try all of it and they righteously charged us only for what we ate. Their emphasis on traditional cereal usage, healthy cooking sticking to traditional methods is evident. Kitchen is open and accessible and they are transparent and friendly to answer any of our queries. Taste is ok but definitely the ambience and experience is worth to try

The most unique dining experience one can find in Thanjavur, this restaurant offers food cooked in the traditional way: in pots, on firewood stoves. Another unique aspect of the serving is that unlike normal meals, we can choose which curries and dishes we want and only pay for them! It only cost about 150 rupees per head for a fulfilling meal. The taste of Tamil Nadu is very evident in the food and it has a unique deliciousness. The staff is very cordial and you can get by with rudimentaru Tamil. It is a must visit if you're in Thanjavur.

Clay pot cooking and the 30 item meal is just that. Millet, cold pressed oils, vegetables, jaggery, banana stem and leaf dishes, sambar, rassam, curd, etc. Served by the ladies who also do the cooking. The table is arranged around the clay pots containing the food. Also available is A2 desi cow milk ice cream.

Visited in October 2023. I used to like this place , but this time it was a total disappointment. Wash area was very dirty. The service people looked exhausted.. may be they were tired as it was dinner time. Service was also very unhygienic. They didn't follow any hygienic protocols. No gloves. Tried to convey the feedback to the lady supervisor who was at the billing at that time. But she took the feedback in a negative way. As they serve good food and we recommend this place to many, gave the feedback in right sense

I have been to this place thrice already and it’s my favourite place to eat in Thanjavur.
The food is authentic and heart warming with the added bonus of being organic.
I’ve only gone their for lunch and there will definitely be rush and a wait. But the food and service is worth the wait.
When you there make sure you have time to wait for both AC and non AC options.
It’s both clean and affordable.

Very nice lunch buffet served on a traditional style Banana leaf. They have 30+ items, all delicious and unlimited, but it was a bit tough to understand what was being served as we were tourists who just knew broken Tamil, and the woman who served us didn't know anything except Tamil.

Absolutely divine food! Must try if you are visiting Thanjavur. They use traditional methods to cook and there’s no maida in their food. Service is prompt and good. Really enjoyed the wild rice dosa, appam with fresh coconut milk, garlic chutney, adai dosa with aviyal and ended our meal with palagam. The best part is they charge you for what you eat. Will visit again!!!

Excellent and authentic traditional experience. We were served a traditional meal with close to 30 different items! Very healthy, extremely tasty and plenty of traditional recipes from an older era that are not so prevalent today. Visit at lunch time for the true Tanjore full meals experience! Excellent service. On our way back from the Big Temple visit we stopped by Chellammals Manpaanai Samayal a pure vegetarian restaurant with authentic south indian cuisine. The quality of the food is great, and very filling and all the dishes are prepared in a very traditional way. Best place to have lunch in Tanjore. Served in a clay pot on a banana leaf with so much of love. Most of people there who serve you are ladies. Huge respect to them. Thank you so much for the wonderful lunch. We will come again :-)

Very clean and hygienic environment. Cooking is done using old traditional methods. There are two places to dine here. One in open with à la carte options and another will be buffet in AC room. Both are must try. Food items have variety and tastes very delicious. The owner is a very good host and welcomes you to his place gracefully. Must try when in Thanjavur.
