Review Venkadesa Bhavan - Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum)

Veggie Smurf
Authentic traditional food! Their infamous Kara Vada is actually karumuru bonda! It’s sooo crispy as the main ingredient in it is rice flour! Paired with its onion chutney is a lip smacking cracking snack with their authentic filter coffee. Ghee roast is soaked in freshly made ghee and the aroma and taste screams authenticity! Their portion sizes are good and is very filling!

We had ordered Masala Dosa, Ghee Roast and Parotta with Korma along with filter coffee! All of them were good. Filter coffee is a must try here. It's an authentic vegetarian affair! Do try at least once 😊

By sheer luck, I stumbled upon Venkadesha Bhavan when all the other restaurants were packed. My quest for a vegetarian restaurant for dinner led me here, and I must say, it turned out to be a delightful find. I decided to try their ghee roast, and oh boy, it exceeded my expectations. The taste was heavenly, with a tantalizing aroma of ghee that heightened my dining experience. The accompanying side dishes such as sambar and chutney were equally delicious, adding a burst of flavors to the meal. I also indulged in their unique coffee, which was a first for me. To my surprise, the coffee was served in a cup, while the saucer held the milk. This innovative presentation added a touch of novelty to the dining experience. The ambiance, though not remarkable, was decent. Despite their efforts to keep it clean, the high crowd volume made it challenging to maintain cleanliness effectively. Nevertheless, despite being bustling with activity, the service was remarkably prompt. The wash area, unfortunately, did not meet my cleanliness expectations, as the constant rush kept it from being well-maintained. The restaurant has two floors, and I dined on the lower level. However, I found it to be quite congested, which slightly dampened the overall experience. Parking was a significant hurdle, as the street was incredibly busy, making it difficult to find a suitable spot nearby. Nonetheless, considering the quality of the food and the swift service, I would highly recommend Venkadesha Bhavan. It may not boast the best ambiance or the cleanest wash area, but their flavorsome dishes make up for it, especially if you're looking for a satisfying vegetarian meal.

I've been visiting this place when I did my Btech from Trivandrum back in 2010. This is my regular place when ever I visit sri padmanabhan temple. Pretty nice food and a holy ambience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the authentic vegetarian food places in Trivandrum. Consistency in taste, quantity, service and price from my experience here from 2022 till now sept 2023 as I write this review and I hope it continues. I stay near kazhakootam and this is the nearest best vegetarian food place for me in trivandrum. This place never disappoints me for the 25km up and down travel I make. Their kaara vada is the best according to me. Chapati kurma, ghee dosai and coffee are my most favorite here. Parking issue elaam oru matter illa. Park somewhere far and walk here. Worthu.

It is one of the oldest restaurants near Sree Padmanabha Temple. We have been ordering from herr for almost a decade. Their Kara Vada is really good. It is really crispy and yummy. I have been a fan of their chapppathy and kurma. It is my go tondish whenever i opt for vegetarian food. We ordered chappathy and kurma, and Masala Dosa. Their masala dosa used to be better. These days, not so much. They accept cash and UPI (Gpay).

Simply amazing food! This is a small set up which is just near west gate of Shri Padmanabaswamy temple. Of course the purpose of visit is for good food and not a cosy ambience. The Ada Avial dosa is their speciality. It is made by adding dal to let us say routine dosa batter. It is served with Avial and chutneys. It looks like a normal dosa but is quitr heavy. One regular customer asked me how is the Dosa today since its taste varies at times and on few days it is less tasty!! May be he feels as he is regularly having. For a tourist who just eats once, I feel it was great! Their Rasa vada was average. I say so because that vada was too thick! Rasam was great. They also have Kara vada that is spicy. One of the best coffee is served here. I would say it is a must visit place if you are at East Fort area. Other options arr Annapoorna just beside this and Udupi hotel (100 meters away) on the road towards SP fort hospital. Try!

This is the second time I had gone there, and the experience was yet again awesome! Food is great, service is good, and cost is extremely low. Trivandrum needs more places like these to cater to the foodie masses. I'm attaching the rate and menu also with this post. The irony is that, the menu doesn't do justice to the quality and quantity being served. Try out their masala dosa, Karai vada, uzhunnu vada, and especially their coffee. This is a place that should be treasured for its awesomeness. Enjoy. Regards ❤️.

The famous authentic vegetarian restaurant in Thiruvanathapuram from ages. Masala dosa and Karavada with their Filter coffee is a must try. Also their snacks like Valsan , Thaiyiru vada , rava kesari is worth a try. Prices are really economical. Must try place for all the vegetarian lovers. They don't offer any parking space as you can depend on public road side parking.

The chanting of ഗണപതിയെ Nama: and authentic Tamil Brahmin cooking... Pocket friendly, homely and quality excellent. A spiritual traditional dining option for quiet foodies.

One of the best restaurants in Trivandrum which served pure vegetarian dishes. The crowd of customers dining inside and those who are waiting outside for their parcels shows the quality of the food and the public appealing about the restaurant. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served here. Pure vegetarian cuisines such as masala dosa, ghee roast, upmav, chappathi, barotta, onion dosa, rava dosa, idli, etc are served here. Snacks such as uzhunu vada, paripp vada, resa vada, karavada, bonda, valsan etc are also served along with authentic tea and filter coffee. The authenticity of the pure vegetarian food is the X-factor here. I've tried their ghee roast, masala dosa and karavada with a filter coffee. All of them were so good and reminded me that vegetarian food is also tasty and healthy and made me realize that I should try vegetarian dishes more often.
