Review Sunset Terrace - Udaipur

Ritika Manchanda
It was a very nice experience in the sunset terrace restaurant. Food was good, we tried veg sushi and the authentic rajasthani dal batti churma. Both dishes were awesome and Staff was also courteous. One thing I want to highlight, they have cover charges of Rs 2500/person which means that you must order the food of min Rs 2500/person.

The team at the restaurant were attentive & fabulous. The level of efficient hospitality is commendable. The chef has curated a great menu. The amazing view adds to everything.

The name says it all. They have the best sunset view overlooking the lake in Udaipur. While there are multiple cafés & restaurants who offer the same, nobody does it like Taj obviously. They do have a cover charge sometimes. But it’s worth every penny. The food is delicious, the staff and hospitality is like no other. It was serene!

Best place to enjoy the beauty of lake pichola and many wonders it behold. Living upto the Taj brand name, the place offers almost all the drinks and sumptuous platters to choose from. Very dominating and prominent location that will give an experience of majesty..the most classic place in Udaipur

This place situated on the outside just by the lake has an amazing view of the lake with nice calm lighting and comfortable chairs. Ambiance 5* : Now I gave them 5* not because of there ambiance but because it is really situated at a very amazing place just overlooking pichola lake with all other property in view and looks really beautiful in the night. Service 5* Service is up to the mark they really give their maximum to make you feel at home and serve you hot and delicious food. Food 3.5* Now there Indian food is really good but as far as their continental food is concerned it was not that good the chicken was not juicy and other things. I think they should look into it because they charge a lot for there food so everything should be up to the mark. Overall 4* As far as ambiance, view and service goes it is a very amazing place to spend time with your near and dear ones.

It’s important to understand that the restaurant has two sections - breakfast area and lunch/dinner area. Photos below are from lunch/dinner space and we throughly enjoyed the lunch selection. Recommend the butter chicken, laal maas and Biryani.

After a tiring exploration of the City Palace and a hungry kid, we opted for this place just off the entrance of the palace. The resto is part of the Fateh Prakash Palace hotel and is a fine dine place, and hence the pricing is on the higher side. Great views of Lake Pichola from the restaurant, ambience simple yet beautiful. Hot afternoon meant a vodka cocktail was on the cards and it was refreshing. On the food, some veg kebabs, paneer makhani with some bread, veg biryani for our order - great taste overall , high on quality and quantity. The meal ended with some Jelly custard which was enough to get us going for the rest of the day. Service was a bit slow but food came in hot which made up for it.

We are staying at Taj Fateh Prakash and so have been having breakfast at the Sunset Terrace everyday. The food is absolutely fantastic - especially the dosas and omelettes cooked fresh by the chefs. The service is formidable and the whole team - Mr Kalu, Mr Ramesh, Mr Balu, Mr Rishav, Mr Balu - are absolutely fantastic. Absolutely recommend! Thank you to the staff who make it so special.

I didn’t try the food but had a cup of coffee there. Coffee was good and the view was good as you could relaxingly enjoy the make view. The staffs were friendly and not rushing even I just had a coffee.

Beautiful views from huge windows. Easily the best breakfast in udaipur. The service is top class and the food is simply awesome. Special highlight is the piping hot and super crisp jalebis.

My family of 6 went here for coffee yesterday and faced really poor service. We weren’t even offered water and when we made the order, we kept waiting for 20 minutes. We asked the waiter twice on what’s happening with our coffee and they kept saying it will take a couple minutes more. We kept waiting and nothing came. The original waiter who took our order was nowhere to be seen. This restaurant can train its staff better and offer good service or it will lose business.

Kind of disappointed with the food quality and service . Although the ambience is pretty good. Food was kind spicy even after telling the waiting staff. Delay in service even when the place was not such busy .<br/>I paid just for the ambience and view.

Straight off, the view is just breathtaking! The location of this restaurant is just perfect, with the stunning city palace on one side and the lake on the other.<br/><br/>Went here for dinner, and just couldn't take my eyes off the stunning lake view. But the food was great too! The buffet spread was simply great. There was Chinese, Thai, North Indian as well as Rajasthani.<br/><br/>The Chicken wonton soup was great. Soft, perfectly cooked wontons with a well-seasoned broth. Simply delicious! The chicken tikka and paneer tikka were both great, cooked to perfection and marinated very well. I especially loved the Idli chaat, which was soft idli served with chatpata salad. The fish with butter caper sauce was the star dish, super soft and fresh fish with a great sauce. The Railway mutton was also tender and soft, with a gravy that complemented it very well. The Thai Red curry was also pretty good, could just do without tomato, as it overpowered the coconut. The navratna pulao was also great! The bournvita barfi was a fresh take on the boring bournvita, and had a unique taste.<br/><br/>Overall, a place with great ambience, an ethereal view, amazing service and great food. A must visit in udaipur!

Really disappointed with the service. The staff is very rude and not courteous at all. The manager Manish menaria was very disrespectful and not apologetic at all. Regret going there to celebrate my birthday. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Food - 5/5<br/>Ambience - 5/5<br/>Cost - 3.5/5<br/><br/>Must try - Laal maas (Tender cooked red meat with little spicy gravy)<br/><br/>On our way back from City palace museum, it started raining heavily. We saw this restaurant & thought to take a short visit and still feel that it’s one of the best choice we have made by chance. <br/>The taste of every thing we ordered was super awesome. Meat was properly cooked.<br/>A must visit when you are visiting old city, the only drawback of it being slightly costly.

Came across this place while visiting City Palace, I ordered Lamb Bolognese and Pina colada...food was delicious (little overpriced but worth paying for the Pichola lake view)Great location, polite and professional staff... Overall very good!!

We were so damn exited to have a lovely evening.. Completely over priced restaurant all that can be appreciated is the lake view, which one can can enjoy from any other lake side roof tops as well... Even after paying a good amount of money we were not satisfied with the taste and staff...
Dheeraj Chandak
A fabulous place for hearing the sound of peace<br/>also with that we can enjoy the food<br/>even you can miss the taste of food against his decor<br/>love that place

We had booked a table at the Sunset Terrace in advance to avoid last minute chaos. I had even received confirmation of the reservation. Just a few minutes after we reached the place, we were informed that only people staying in the City Palace are given reservations and a table here. All the staff members were extremely rude to us, and they didn't even have the courtesy to apologize for taking our booking and not providing us a table at the last moment.<br/><br/>Considering it was a weekend, it was so difficult for us to find another place as well.<br/><br/>Will recommend going to JagMandir to enjoy a better view and food and a much better service.
Vanshika Ahuja
The place was good but it took so much time to even get a milkshake ! We ordered pasta and the sauce was amazing though the pasta itself was hard . The rest of the food was good but the quantity and price value simply did not match . It’s okay . That’s all <br/>

As i am Mumbai based I was excited to have my food at sunset Terrace in City Palace in udaipur which has a beautiful view of Lake Pichola.. I ordered assorted pakodas and hot chocolate believe me pakoras look good only with the view It tasted worse than ever have i had before...and drinking chocolate are you serious you call it a drinking chocolate did you ever had drinking chocolate (expecting a dark Madagascar chocolate which is 70% dark ) I felt as if a 2 year old kid is having Bournvita.. Staff was less attentive they were least bothered to serve customers.. I was served pakoras only with sauce and there was no pudina chutney I have to ask this staff to get the pudina chutney .. you can easily take advantage of an amazing view by serving good food and being more attentive.. <br/>P.S: UNNECESSARILY shooting your expenses crazily.<br/>First serve good food and then charge us..we won't mind spending..

Over-Priced Restaurant.<br/>Staff is not rude but they aren't that humble too.<br/>Food is good, but will make a hole in your pocket.<br/>But if you are willing to shed extra bucks for the view and tired enough to not visit other Lake Side Restaurants like Upre, than it's fine to dine here.<br/>View is perfect for a glass of beer and of course, Food is also good.<br/>Food: 9/10<br/>Price: 4/10<br/>Ambience: 9/10<br/>Staff: 4/10<br/>

This Terrace Restaurant is part of City Palace Complex Udaipur and has best Sunset View in Udaipur in background of Taj Lake palace and Monsoon Palace. <br/><br/>Food is good as well and staff is very courteous. <br/><br/>A must Visit Property when in Udaipur. <br/><br/>
Ashema Mehtta
Sunset has an amazing view and the food is decent too . It is important to have a reservation there . One most go there in the evening only and never during the day as it’s extremely hot for lunch time .
Kritika Goyal
Still my favorite place in the whole city. Food is amazing, service is incomparable. Visit if you are looking for a very romantic evening, the perfect sunset and golden taj lake palace view. And if you get lucky, you might as well meet the Prince of Mewar! Ah he's so generous, we were there for birthday dinner and he got us a cake.
Pallavi
Breakfast was the best ever had! Everyday everything was good. Would love to stay there again for the breakfast.. For lunch tried laal Maas and malai tikka.. rotis.. did not like the lunch at all. View it's got is beautiful..
Ilesh
This is over priced restaurant. Nothing very special for the prices that they are charging... tribute restaurant is much spacious and much high standards and in quality. Avoid this sunset terrace and go to better option tribute restaurant.
Abhishek Prakash
I would give it 0 star if i could. The only saving grace is the great view. But pathetic place. The worst coffee, worst milkshake I've ever had. And they have the audacity to charge a bomb for it! <br/><br/>There are way better places for a breathtaking view nearby, which also importantly provide good food and service.
Shrusti Mohanty
Enjoyed a weekday breakfast at the Sunset Terrace while staying at the Fateh Prakash Palace.<br/>While the breakfast buffet -variety and quality- was your average hotel buffet fare ( sausages, breads, some Indian fare ,etc etc) , what stood out was the service and hospitality.<br/>This place offers a fantastic uninterrupted view of Pichola lake, particularly charming at sun set.<br/>If you're staying at the any of the HRH hotels in the City Palace , worth a visit for a quick coffee rather than a full meal.
DesiHarryPotato
The place is beautiful with a beautiful view! After ambrai hotel, I expected the focus of this place to be on the view as well instead of the food but surprisingly the food was not that bad. The place is expensive but good for once in a while kinda splurging. You basically pay for the view. On one side you have the view of the lake and on the other, the beautiful palace. Its pretty good.<br/>Getting your own water bottle is recommended unless you want to spend Rs 190 on water alone (we didn't ha!) because for some insane reason they don't serve regular water. <br/>Reservations are strongly recommend.
Tejal Bonekar
Superb ambience and lake view. Food is also good, though high priced for its portion size. Staff is courteous but gives a hint of discrimination towards indians, reserving water front seats to foreigners. Basic food compliments like salad , pickels are also not served. Could do a revamp on the service and food pricing.

This place is way out of rating....!!!<br/><br/>Your trip to Udaipur is incomplete without visiting this place and enjoying the breathtaking view. Would recommend going to this place in the evening as you can enjoy both the day and the night view.<br/><br/>Sunset drinks snacks with the beautiful view of lake Pichhola and the Royal City Palace behind you....is a deadly combination. This is what sets this place apart from the others.<br/><br/>The service is slow..... that's how it should be as you have come here to relish every moment.... food takes a back seat.Rather I had no issues with the service and would prefer it to be the way it was....!!!!<br/><br/>We ordered cold coffee and lemon ice tea and a couple of drinks which were decent and French fries. Our main interest was to enjoy the sunset which was accomplished... Frankly I don't remember the taste of the food and seriously it really does not matter once you are at this place as you definitely are not here for food!!!!<br/><br/>Prices are on a very higher side but the scenic view justifies the same and you leave the place with great memories and an evening that will make you smile when remembered...!!! <br/><br/>We left the place with a royal feeling and sense of satisfaction of discovering the perfect place to end our last evening in Udaipur....!!!! Would definitely be going there again next time I am in here..!!!

Service too slow. And then the justification -<br/>"another event going on and we are busy there. We are not taking any guests, and you should be thankful that we got you in"<br/><br/>Utter non sense.
Shivangi Agarwal
Even though it might be a little over your budget if you are backpacking in Udaipur, but trust me it's all worth if you want to enjoy the view of lake pichola! <br/>Indulge in the delicacies offered by the place from a selected menu with the the variety ranging from Continental to Chinese. <br/>I would suggest you to go there for the view instead of the menu. ;)<br/>

Bad hospitality.<br/>We ordered <br/>Tea : 2/5<br/>Badam Cooler : 2/5<br/>both of the items were too sweet.<br/>The waiter came to take the order after 20 minutes.<br/>Too overpriced<br/>Will not recommend.

The most horrible experience w.r.t service. We called to reserve a table but were told that's not needed and that their lunch time ends at 3, after which they have a limited menu. We reached around 3:15, and ordered from the limited menu, which was fair since we had already been informed about it.<br/>However, an expat group comes good half hour after us and were offered the entire menu. Excuse given by the staff was that their table was already reserved. Well, we called for that but they had refused.<br/>Then we were told that their order had already been placed. Which was a blatant lie coz we could see their guide asking them loudly and placing the order then. <br/>Third reason, they were staying in the hotel and had got late for lunch. Complete lie since we could see they had come after a tour of the city palace.<br/>You have rules, fine. Have them for everyone or noone. These people seemed to be still slaves to the westerners.<br/><br/>Food was average.<br/>View was great. But definitely spoilt by the attitude of the staff.

Awesome food, awesome view, excellent service and hospitality with soothing live instrumentals playing by the side. Best till I have got. A must place to visit.

Poor service rude staff not at all courteous just the view is good. They treat Indians like as if they are eating for free. Food quality is also not that great

If u want a mesmerizing view of the lake , palace and the sunset....do visit this place. Only thing u gonna pay for is the view they are offering. Food here is ok ok types. Service is also not that great. As situated in the palace premises the rates are also high. Only special occasions demand a visit at this place like at ur anniversary or birthday with ur better half to spend a beautiful evening . All over a palce one should visit once.!!😊
Richa Sharma
Again a disappointment.<br/>I believe all the restaurants in the palace complex are designed to be anti Indians. I felt like going up to the manager and say.. Dude I'm paying equal so you better not play a gulam. It's been 70 years already!!<br/><br/>Food - okayish<br/>Service - needs tremendous improvement<br/>Ambience - out of the world and the only thing I believe that keeps this restaurant profitable
Ashwini Purohit
I was mesmerised by the splendid views which one can see from this place...it's situated at the fateh prakash palace n it's probably the best place to observe sunset. Food is ok types nothing extraordinary bt it's damn costly. It can merely go for the splendid view.

Liars, frauds, cheaters, dishonest staff, highly unacceptable, rude, please check your bills very very carefully before paying coz they charge extra money and add extra items on your bill. i am short of words to express my disgust and anger towards what has transpired with me and my family. its not about the money but the experience, ethics and values.<br/>WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY HRH PROPERTY. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE AT ALL.

Hi so I had made reservations for this place for dinner on Diwali. <br/>Considering the holiday season and the heavy traffic , we were stuck really bad in traffic and got delayed by sometime to reach the dinner venue . <br/>I called the restaurant to inform them that I will be late due to the traffic and they told me that it will not be an issue and that I could come whenever . <br/>On reaching the place at 10 pm we were not allowed to enter and we were told that the kitchen is shut .<br/>This kind of behaviour with regular guests is ridiculous .<br/>I told them that I had already called and informed about my delay but they didn't really listen to us .<br/>I was highly keen on spending my Diwali there and it was clearly ruined by the hotel and their horrible staff <br/>Highly disgusted by the behaviour <br/>I shall never go there again

Visited it after the city palace museum for a drink and salad. It's on the top of the hotel in the city palace complex. Offers lake pichola's view with Taj Lake Palace at the front and Jag Mandir Palace is also seen clearly. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea which was below average in terms of taste. The smoked chicken with blue cheese dressing was average as well. Salad includes slices of citrus fruit, lettuce and long shaved rolls of cucumber with little or no seasoning. The place is overpriced for the food they serve. The waiter insisted on covering my crotch with napkin almost placing it there himself. I had food on the plate still left and he asked if he could clear. Not recommended for food. Have a drink, enjoy the view and leave.

One of the best restaurants in Udaipur<br/>Highly recommended 👍🏻<br/>Ambience is quite good <br/>Infront of Pichola lake and still water<br/>You'll love it.<br/>Food is also quite nice<br/>Tried Hyderabadi murg biryani and Tangri kabab, both were very delicious.<br/>Rajasthani breeze cocktail and pina colada also very nice along with the food.<br/>A must visit when you are in Udaipur.<br/>Music will take you to another level.<br/>Rajasthani music and the peaceful ambience of Pichola lake is beautiful.<br/>10/10 for hospitality.

Beautiful dining place on the side of lake Pichhola giving mesmerising view of lake during evening hours. The quality of food is also good but expensive.

Sunsets are wondered not just because they are beautiful but because they are fleeting too.!! <br/>Yeah so there are few places which make you poetic.! And this one is certainly one of them.! <br/>This place is the best place to enjoy the sunset. The location - located just outside the Royal city palace, crystal gallery and Fateh Prakash palace, offering view of the splendid lake city palace, udai villas and the exquisite jagmandir., and if these were not enough - you get to witness the nature's bliss..the sunset cascading a silhouette over the city palace - makes you fall in love with life...trust me on this.!<br/>You just cannot in any parlance afford to miss the aura. Calling it just a view would be a sheer understatement and disrespect to the nature's empyrean pleasures.!<br/>If u extend your stay at this place till dinner then you would also have the pleasure to indulge yourself in the melodious flute, shehnai and sarod tunes.! <br/>So as you enter the place, it's partitioned in two sections - one near bar and the other place is like a balcony with more open space. <br/>Choose any section, you have to love the place. <br/>I was rly lucky to have enjoyed both the sections.! <br/>Food at these places becomes secondary. Nevertheless you should certainly try their matar and makke ki shammi, mutton items - just heavenly.!! <br/>Of all the drinks we ordered and had - baileys were the best.! <br/>Overall, the food is great. <br/>But coming back to where we started, there are few places which should be visited solely for the view - this is certainly one of them.!

I stayed at the beautiful Fateh Prakash Palace so had my few meals here. It has one of the best view in the town. You can see Taj Lake palace, Jagmandir, Oberoi and the hills and at your back the magnificent city palace. Feels like royalty ..the service and hospitality is exceptional. After sunset the tables are lit with candles and live performers sing beautiful folk songs. It is spread out on a huge area. They have tables in the open and on the elevated covered deck both.<br/><br/>The food is really good here. They have delicious breakfast spread..you can opt for their buffet or a la carte. We opted for the buffet which had everything eggs, salads, indian, continental, fruits, desserts, breads etc. You can ask for bacon which they bring separately and not laid in the buffet. Having the delicious, satisfying breakfast with a beautiful view is something shouldn’t be missed.<br/><br/>For lunch and dinner they have extensive menu which has Chinese, continental and local Rajasthani dishes. They have delicious soups..i ordered their hot and sour veg soup. In the main course the junglee maans was to die for. The breads are really good..we had one of the best garlic naan here. The Mutton kebabs were awesome with nice flavor of spices and aroma and went really well with our drinks.<br/><br/>A lovely romantic restaurant. A must visit for the view and food
Rahul Taluja
One of the restaurants inside the City Palace and besides the lake. But didn't have much crowd probably as it is at a slight distance from the lake and is extremely expensive in comparison to other restaurants.<br/>Had Mutton Biryani which was quite well done, 4 mutton pieces and cooked well. Also had a Spaghetti Pasta which was just okay, didn't taste as it ideally should.<br/>Go there if you want to eat besides the Palace, else you have better options. Drinks cost at least 500 bucks and food costs 700 a dish, not worth it.

Went to this restaurant as a guest to the Prince...<br/>Just mesmerized by the splendid setup of this place. Went here for lunch and was charmed, I am just wondering how would the setup be during sunset.<br/><br/>The hospitality was also above the mark... <br/>The entire set makes you enjoy the food even better.<br/><br/>Half a star less for serving us sweet food, which is ironic to the food of Rajasthan which is hot and spicy..
Musa Fir
View - To Die For, just at the entrance of City Palace / Fateh Niwas Hotel and on the banks of Lake Picchola. The surrounding of Lake Palace and Jagmandir resort make it look so serene in night.<br/>Ambience - not much to o speak for but Minimal ambiance on terrace goes well with view. Can't be said the same about covered roof side. Gets 0.5 points minus here.<br/>Food - Ordered Mutton Banjara ( Laal Maas). Fabulous in taste though the mutton chunks could have been a bit more marinated than they were.<br/>Service - Attentive & prompt during the course of dinner except when it came to bill for which I was made to wait quite long. Another 0.5 points reduction here.<br/><br/>Overall - 4/5 if for nothing then just sheer experience.

Overlooking Lake Pichola. Amazing view of the Taj Lake Palace from here. Good place to grab a chilled beer & relax during the day. Pit stop while touring the City Palace.
Devpurna Talapatra
The entire rating is for the view it offers and not for anything else. The food is definitely too pricey. The fact that it's inside the palace premises and has a view to die for, somewhat makes up for it, though not completely I would say.
Urvija Varshney
This is a beautiful place to visit after a boat ride at pichola..to sit, relax and enjoy the mesmerising view..the service was good..the food was also good to the taste buds... Overall a nice and memorable experience..
Priyanka Tusnial
Quite unhappy with the servers attitude as it seems that the staff here are just interested in serving the foreigners. Being a palace and royalty, the basic expectation from this place is service and attitude.
Lokesh Tewari
The coffee was good and the view is to kill for. Was there for an evening coffee hence didn't try much food, but with a palace behind and a lake ahead, I am ready to eat boiled potatoes :-) The royal band performs at around 5 pm inside the restaurant and is good to look at. As the name suggests, evenings are the best time to visit.
Anooj Mehta
Spectacular view of the lake from the restaurant. Fell in love with the ambience. Food is delicious and cocktails are refreshing. Well mannered people who serve there. A 10/10 lunch experience. Ambience 10/10. Food 8/10. Service 9/10.

Phenomenal view of the sunset. Polite service. A great place to rest your tired feet with a<br/>The beer and great coffee. :) Placed just outside the city palace it makes a nice place to be visited for catching a break from all the sight seeing.

Awesome lake backdrop and undoubtedly the best place for dinner in udaipur. Very warm Mewar service and food is tasty. The sweets are worth the sin. Cool pleasant most time of the year. Overall an experience worth carrying every time.
