Review Gwalia - Vadodara

Usha Jain Bhatnagar
Well manged sweet shop with small sitting area . Clean , tasty and hygienic sweets and namkins you will get here. Rates are little bit higher than other sweet shops but no doubt taste and purity is unbeatable.

Edit: We placed a large order just about 36 hours in advance. The sweets, packing etc were absolutely perfect for the occasion. Even though we were from outstation, Deepak bhai did not even take any advance and delivered the order to our place. Very good experience. ----------- Amazing sweets. Some are quite innovative. For large order, place 2 days in advance as all their preparations come from A'bad.

कुछ मीठा हो जाए... Sweets are synonymous with success and happiness. And Gwalia Sweets & Restaurant are synonymous with purity and taste. Yesterday, when I went there, I was delighted by BOGO (Buy One Get One) and other offers on their crunchy namkeens and cookies. So, I filled my snacks for the whole month at the start itself. What about you? Take advantage of the limited time offer and watch IPL matches with your favourite snacks. You can also take advantage of their home delivery facility. Highly Recommended!!! अब कुछ नमकीन भी हो जाए... 😀

The new location of this shop has beautiful and vibrant interior. I loved the greenery inside the cafe. The cafe now offers a large variety of chats and sweets. We particularly relished the baked rasgulla. Their collection of authentic bengali sweets is something thats hard to find in Vadodara.

Well, we had come in for a quick dessert after an amazing dinner elsewhere. Clean outlet, good staff, well maintained place was very welcoming. We all tried our favorite ras malai. It was too good and we liked it. Might be visiting again to try other items on the menu soon. Kudos to the team. @vadodarafoodbook recommended ras malai ( for obvious reasons).

Before i start writing further, it is important to note that it was earlier located near Vadodara Central and it has now sifted to below The Secret Kitchen. This review comes in as a very important one to me because i visited here after a gap of many years, i.e., when it was located next to Vadodara Central. I had Thali both the times and it has now improved its taste a lot. It offers 2 rotis, rice, salad, dal, sabji, one seasonal vegetable, sweet and masala chaas. Now, 2 rotis may seem less but it happens to be a very heavy meal. The rotis are coated with butter and every vegetable dish has a perfect mix of all the elements. You will not find a lot more of any one element like a lot more of only gravy or a lot more of only peas. It takes them some time to serve their customers and they are open about it. They do say it somewhere on their menu that the preparation time is about 20 minutes, but it is worth the wait. Also, they serve their dishes hot and fresh. The place (that is the building as in the second image uploaded) does not have a slope, making it not so friendly for people with wheel chair. Although Gwalia is located at the ground floor, so it is really okay with a bit of a trouble. The parking space is not enough to handle the parking of vehicles on weekends. I visited here on a Sunday and I had to park my 2-wheeler outside their parking space. It is recommended to visit here on a weekday. P.S: Gwalia is a nice place to bring your family. And, i am looking forward to visit their again and taste some of their sweets.

I have eaten the best paneer chilli ever the coating of paneer chilly is very crunchy and the quality of paneer is very soft. The gravy of Manchurian and paneer chilly is very much tasty. The typical type of choola and bhatura is served there and bhatura is very fluffy. Full marks for taste behavior of employees and cleanliness.

Just went there to get Namkeens, but heavy rain and delicious food made us to try something new.
Got the same taste as of Gwalia in Ahmedabad. Tried Samosa, Dal Kachori and Onion Kachori. - The taste was awesome and filling was appropriately done.
They offered two chutneys, red and the green one. Green one didn’t match though with the Samosa or Kachori, but a bit of it may make a difference in the taste. 5-stars for them.

Who serves Pani of Pani poori in chutney size packets.. taste was ok, but for home delivery one expects good quantity of water.

Paneer ... Absolute joke. By looks you can make its stale. Count the days. Taste was next to horrible. I bet a street side food joint could serve better taste and quality.

On the festival of Raksha Bandhan, it was 100% fresh and was tasty too. Thank you so much, Gwalior for making that occasion special..

I ordered milk cake. It was not at all good, not fresh. The badam was of very much bad quality, there were holes and insects inside badam. I had to throw away all the remaining milk cake. Will never order again from this shop.

Doesn't it seem a bit odd that food should make us happy? After all, we eat food to sustain ourselves. But sometimes after eating some meals, we feel full and pretty happy!
.
Our enroute to Vadodara, while searching for good food joint, we came across the place named Gwalia Sweet, having their own Chaat Cafe and Restaurant, with
beautiful ambience, well lit and sound, hygienic washroom, over friendly staff and management, prompt service and the food is awesome both quality & quantity wise. .
Now about food we ordered;
* Chole Bhature (Panjabi style side dish with deep fried flat bread) with marinated onions and pickles.
* Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich, loaded with mayo, cheese and veggies, served with potato chips, ketchup and mint dip.
* Tea and Rusk .
If in Vadodara do try this place @gwalia_sweets for their varieties of yummy sweets, lip smacking chaats and delicious food and their timing is from 9 am to 11 pm and they do have Restaurant, it’s timing is from 11 am to 3.30 pm.
I simply loved the food here. The quality is amazing and the food was fresh. I basically went there with my family and we ordered Ragada pattice which was very crispy and delicious. We ordered dahi ke kebab which were cooked in a different style and were more like a batti. They were worth a try too. Apart from that, we went for chilli roti with gatte ka sabzi combo. Also, the smith iced tea is worth a try. Do not forget to try all the Indian sweets for dessert as well.

This is our go to place for sweet tooth temptations! Moreover, the chat is also delicious. It's a place where you just can't stop ordering sweets one after other. Must try 😋 moongdaal Halwa 😋 rasmalaai cheesecake 😋 Jalebi with rabdi 😋 sandesh 😋 golgappa

Gwalia's food has always been good. But this outlet has amazing interiors too and you can definitely go there for a family outing. The menu has different chaats and other main course dishes. We had the dahi puri chaat and the aloo tikki chaat. Both were delicious and fresh. And for the sweet we had rasmalai cheesecake. It was something new and delicious especially if you're a fan of gulkand flavour. A bit pricey but considering the location it's alright.

One of the tasteless pav bhaji. Poor packaging. Worst. Overpriced

Well, the Chole Bhathure were absolutely horrendous. The chole were hard and not cooked properly with it tasting nothing like a Punjabi dish. The bhathure were probably fried in cold oil/ghee and were soaked in its entirety. Absolute trash, all around.

Over all Good Food & Taste . Option. Compare to Ahmedabad Gwalia seems less. Can improve on staff training and treatment. Politeness need to be added.

Living here since 10 years but never tried their sweets and snacks, one day i have decided to try this place, we have ordered Pav bhaji, Chole bhature, mini thali and last but not the least its Ras Malai, I think they are serving the Best Pav bhaji in this city with authentic flavours, Chole Bhature was Nice could have been better though i loved it, Ras malai is flavoury and mouth melting, will definately visit again.

The most authentic sweet and snacks outlet in Vadodara. Variety and taste of sweets needs no review. It's the best..hands-down. The chat section too is delicious. More importantly the management has very welcoming nature and will make you feel home.

Gwalia sweets is located at a very visible spot near Genda circle. Gwalia sweets has been my go-to place for glorified street food since grad-school days, so I have visited the place number of times! Whenever I'm in a mood for a full-fledged meal, I'd order the Deluxe fixed thaali which consists of two veggies, naans/rotis, one snack, a dessert, pickle, raita, papad, rice and daal, which is perfectly enough for one person. And when I'm in the mood for an evening snack or the like, I'd order Rajkachori, Delhi chaat or Tikki chaat. The last time we visited the place, we had ordered Butter paavbhaji and Aloo Paranthas which didn't disappoint either.
The place is perfect if you're in the mood for some north-Indian food; it might come off as expensive if you are a big fan of street food like myself but I assure you it will be worth it. If you've visited little outlets in Delhi or Punjab and loved it, I'm sure you'll like Gwalia.
I recommend the Rajkachori, Dal Makhani and Rice, followed by kulfi.

Good sweet shop in vadodara. Boondi ke ladoo are good in taste. Besan ke ladoo, milk cake and other Bengali sweets are also good in taste. The snacks served are aslo good in taste. Overall a good place.

We dropped in here for just dessert and although was closing time we managed to get Bengali sweets whatever was left for the day - some sweet which translated from Bengali means 'eat right now' and a mango based Bengali sweet again.they were both very good and we left satisfied.

Beware Beware...
Visited gwalia for deserts but my experience was pathetic. The rasmalai which they served was fermented.
Previously also had a bad experience with it's snacks.
Gwalia @ Vadodara, well its nice to see the traditional sweets franchise at a town like Vadodara. After exploring Dadu's of Hyderabad , Bikanerwala & Haldiram, this seems just on the same lines.

Sweets with a food counter. A place to hangout for the people with sweet tooth.

It's was last day of navratri & was surprised to find this place open till 3am. Practically its was dushara.

On the name of ambiance its just a noise place with happy face.

Price is just normal + brand premium, which is just obvious.

Bhadrayu Dave Chandrang Makwana

Awesome & simply awesome.
A true connoisseur will have a delightful experience of all the Indian sweets and some other traditional rajasthani delicacies.
The very aroma, ambience, taste and presentation is titillating.
A must visit place for Indian desserts.

Please visit if you want stones in your food and insults for dessert!! I GIVE THEM A BIG FAT ZERO!!
I went there with my aged parents and should have realised right away when no one bothered to even help get them through the door. Then we ordered what we wanted, paid and found a table - still self service (they could make an exception for old/ disabled people - but they don't care) One of us found a pebble and a staple pin in our food so naturally I complained (albeit sarcastically). The "manager" present rudely retorted "khana hai to khau nahi to bahar jau". That was that!
