Review Aum Cafe - Varanasi

Aaron Emberson
The vegan spice cake was AMAZING. It had cold vegan ice cream with warm apples & cake, which is not something I have got to experience in years as someone with lactose intolerance. The flapjack pancakes my partner got were also good. The girl who served us was nice and sweet. Very affordable.

Absolutely perfect and lovely cafe! Staff is kind, prices are good and food is awesome. They are proud that they don't wash dishes in The Ganges and using only filtered water.

Very cute and simple cafe at Assi Ghat. I really love their vegan menu. Whenever I go there, I always have their burger as they make everything by themselves and so I eat guilt free always. I also love their coconut milk matcha latte, it tastes HEAVENLY.

2 words - Amazing food!! We ordered Prima Vera pasta and chocolate pancakes, both of which were superb. The pasta has a lot of veggies which was a plus. We also ordered 2 cold coffees and 1 cold mocha, all of which tasted great. Must recommended!

Beautiful spot with lovely ambiance. They have many vegan options and everything is delicious, fresh and homemade (try their vegan cakes and desserts, so yummy!). Also vegan chai! The owner is really friendly and will make you feel like home. They also have a small library, so you can enjoy your food while reading and chilling on this corner of Varanasi. I recommend you to go early in the morning, to enjoy the morning light and the calmness (it gets very busy during the day).

This place is a vibe! I tried chocolate pan cakes, mocha coffee and orange/apple juice over there. And I would recommend this to anyone who is staying around Assi Ghat.

I loved the few dishes we had there. We had pancakes, some noodles and some beverages for breakfast- all of them were good. They serve vegan food so plus points for that and the owners give you a warm welcome and you get an overall good feeling while you are here or maybe it's the ecstasy of being in Banaras with your friends. Who knows? But I am sure to pay them a visit, the next time I go there. :)

Perfect chill cafe in busy Varanasi. All Vegetarian, all fresh food, all made with love. Veg and fruit are cleaned with purified water so you can feel secure when eating here. Great tea and fresh juice selection.

This cafe is lovely, the menu they offer is perfect and has a lot to choose from. The pizzas are on wraps which is the best! Delicious food with lots of vegan options, fresh salad (washed with filtered water) and amazing desserts and coffee. All for a cheap price. The veggie pitta is to die for, and the pancakes are up there with the best in varanasi.

The rooftop is a nice place to have breakfast. The food and tea was ok but nothing outstanding. The service is nice but quite slow.

This place had the freshest food, most delicious drinks and fantastic fresh herb teas all meant to help your health. My favorites were the oatmeal and the lemon pancakes. An American woman from California runs this cafe and she is a delight to talk with and a great resource for assistance with you travels.

I was wandering around the ghats and went to this cafe as an experiment to find a hippie and laid-back place to relax and read while having some light and delicious meal. I suspected it to be an expensive place as it's supposed to be frequented by foreigners. But this place turned out to be really wonderful. It's a cute, little cafe done in a homely way that offers decent number of items. The cake I ordered was really delicious and the prices were very reasonable too. You can spend long hours enjoying solitude with a good book or meet friends for a hearty time here.

Been to this place a few days ago. Didn't really like the place. The ambiance is just fine and the food is not up to the mark... I tried the cold coffee, garlic veg noodles and chocolate banana pancakes. Won't be going there again.

The aum cafe is actually a small cute cafe in Assi Ghat area. On the bottom floor, foreigners can enjoy the indian and Varanasi handicrafts. It is owned by a foreigner herself who has adapted to indian culture. She has opened the cafe for her fellow mates, who doesn't like so much spicy foods like Indians, we tried herb pasta which was blunt for indian tongues, they concentrate more on simple food mixed with herbs and medicinal plants, what we call sattvik bhojan. We tried pancakes chocolate chips which were good. Their shakes were not so tempting and ambience was nice with books to read through, u can spend your afternoons here when at Varanasi for a tour. Very friendly staff and good service. I am rating it 3 from a Indians eye

It's a small cafe run by a foreigner lady. It has a souvenir shop at the ground floor and the cafe on the first floor. Ambience is normal, food is good but not outstanding. We had Herb pasta, pancakes and cold coffee. Presentation is good. Taste lacks a bit. But one can try once.

Stumbled upon this quaint little place today at the early hours of the morning. Loved the sitting space with the beautiful greenery as the backdrop and morning sun shining through. The food was amazing and we wiped our plates clean..!!! The host was warm and welcoming and as we were leaving she gave us big warm hugs.!!! And that just made the whole experience ten times better..! Good food and warm hugs? I’ll take that any day
This is one of the coolest places in Banaras. There are a very few cafes around in Banaras as cozy and warm as this place. Two ladies run this cafe and the food is amazing. One must try Lemon Punch, Eggless Omlet and Most of the desserts here. The food quantity is also good. One dish main course serves 1 person with average appetite. Sweet serves 2.

This cafe is a delight for Banaras galli lovers as it is situated in a very beautiful galli of Benaras and near the southernmost ghat, Assi Ghat. Two ladies who run the cafe are super caring.

Visited this place twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch and loved every bit of it. Tried the pancakes and burrito which were both amazing. The herbal tea selection is extensive and you get to learn a lot by reading the menu. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Varanasi!!

Wonderful food and hospitality. I had a delicious egg free omelette, which came with yummy bread and fruit (photo attached). I also adore their granola. The cafe is clean, inviting, conscientious and the food is healthy and homemade with love. The owner is warm, caring, friendly and helpful. So too are the Indian family who help. Highly recommend.

The Herb Pasta and Rose Lassi is really good. The lady who runs this place makes you feel at home. If you are in Varanasi, you should definitely visit this place.

An adorable little restaurant hold by women. Menus are exclusively fresh, healthy, homemade... and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed from start to finish, so much that we have ordered a second main course to take away ! I recommended specially the Cinnamon rolls, a taste of paradise...

Show up here for breakfast and chances are the chanting from around the place will set the right mood. Always welcoming, always healthy and warm - a great place to feel peaceful vibes as you enjoy good, nutritious food. In keeping with the idea of goodness, smoking is not allowed (haven't known anyone to miss it after entering this place). The feel is of a family taking care of you. Ask for Manu. He'll take care of you well.
The shop on the ground floor is a mine of healthy teas, curios and nick knacks.

One of the healthiest options in Varanasi. The bread that comes with the soup was amazing (the best we've had in India). We ordered 4 more to go. The soup and salad were a bit bland, but the burrito is good and the carrot cake is devine

Just back from a soul enriching breakfast from Aum Cafe . This tiny hole in the wall boutique cum cafe is tucked away in a sleepy by lane off the famous Assi Ghat. While the ground and mezzanine house a textile and knick knack shop the rooftop functions as a cozy little cafe so close yet so removed from the crowded Assi.
For a fact the place aims to service just the tourist , with a simple part organic , totally vegetarian menu it is difficult to imagine the locals frequenting it.
The visual packed menu had so interesting healthy choice for breakfast and a chose a eggless omelet to be washed down with a cup of Amerecano. The wait staff , though efficient lacked the friendly faces a place like this deserves however they were more than comps dated for by the charming owner , who made it a point to wish every customer and enquire if they were doing ok.
The coffee , that came fist was a disappointment , weak , bitter and frankly feeling stale / recycled. But the main that followed made up for it. Eggless omelet , a Lentil Crepe / Dal Chilla , into which was folded a nice mix of diced boiled potatoes , onions , cilantro and some more vegges , topped with a generous scone of yoghurt . The entire preparation was again topped with two sclices of tomatoes garnished with some cheese. It was accompanied by two salsas / chutnies , one the South Indian coconut kind and other a tomato sauce. Also there were two pieces of lightly toasted brown bread and a cup of fresh cut fruit. The dis not only was pleasent to the eye , it also tasted quite nice and for a total price of ₹ 180/- for both the coffee and the omelet was a reasonable value.

Will certainly recommend the place , it may not become a huge hit with me because of the coffee but would certainly like to go back and try some more of there food.

ENJOY
