I had the pleasure of dining at Canton Royale Restaurant in Hotel Surya Varanasi recently, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Visited this beautiful multicuisine restaurant and the ambiance is pretty good. It has a descent sitting area with beautiful royal decor. The service is pretty impressive and the atmosphere is soothing. The price for two people lies between ₹1500-₹2000. The only thing I don't like about this place is their portion size, it is not worth the price. But the taste is good. You can definitely visit with your family, friends and with your loved ones to have lunch or dinner.

In hotel surya, beautifull dining Room, old world stile. Large selection of dishes, very reasonable prices. Both indian and international dishes taste very good. Recommended !

Recently visited this restaurant. The staff was very friendly. Had a small issue but the way they resolved it speaks volumes about their training. Food was as expected, worth the money. Would recommend tourists visiting.

Amazing restaurant in Surya hotel on cantonment Road. It has typical architecture feel of British. Long french windos Serve veg and non veg both Tried in veg dal tadka /Missing roti and khichdi. Drinks menu available too

This is one of the best hotel for Food in Cantonment. I celebrated my Dad’s Birthday with my Family Members. Starters - Chilly Panner, Baby Corn, Spring Rolls, Hakka Noodles and French Fry. All were awesome in Taste and so delicious. Main Course - Panner Kaleji, Mushroom Pyaza, Dal Makhani, Butter Naan, Tandoori Roti, Etc You would not believe the Dal they served was in Ghee and it was so amazing that my whole family enjoyed the Dinner . Dessert- Gulab Jamun and Ice Cream. We had a quality time together with Awesome food. Ambience is Soothing and you will feel Peace. I had visited here multiple times with my family and friends. It’s the best hotel if you are foodie and likes to try different variety of food. Management and Staff all are amazing and supportive. Vishnu Sir was very helpful and took all the responsibilities and carried in a great way. Thanks.

Food was very good, the staff were courteous and available but not intrusive and the whole atmosphere including decor, seating arrangements, lighting with blend of natural and artificial light etc was top class. We were seven persons and extra items ordered during meal were made available quickly and no wait was involved, which I think was remarkable. We had simple vegetarian fare and the items served there are usual vegetarian fare you see in most restaurants.

Amazing food, cooked in home style & very scrumptious, less oil, less spices, good for health, you can dine out frequently here without gaining weight or disturbing ur stomach, plentiful of choices for vegetarians which is quite rare in restaurants of Varanasi..

I walked in Canton Royale on a Saturday afternoon basis online reviews. <br/>The place is nicely done and the interior decor gives that old world charm. Service was quick and prompt. <br/>I ordered a Chicken Maharaja Thali which had quite a wide variety of sabji's (4 different ones), breads, pulao, daal, lassi and gulab jamun. Almost all of the food was very good. The corn mutter suzbi & dal makhani were exceptional. <br/>The only not-so-great item on the thali was the chicken tikka starter - which was dry and flavors were out of balance.<br/>Overall I had a very good experience and would highly recommend the place.

The food here was extremely good, especially the pizza.<br/>The service and the ambience was also top notch. We ordered a couple of pizzas, the kebab platter and the black bean burger. Everything was up to the mark and delicious.

We went to this restaurant after reading Zomato reviews but our experience turned out to be a nightmare. It took an hour for them to find us an empty table while we waited in a hall without any air conditioning. The service was snail paced and we had to remind waiters to clean our table and bring glasses.

Very cheap quality food only good for drinker never visit again this restaurant only waste of money very small quantity and tasteless there was not parking area available

Visited this place for an impromptu dinner with my mom, Based on zomato rating and reviews. Well I must say was very impressed with this place. The interiors are awesome. Seating arrangement is also very decent. Although they cud incorporate some good music to the place, it will be a plus point. Coming back to food. We ordered kadhai paneer, aloo matar sabzi , tandoori roti, onion kulcha and veg biryani for our meal. They prepared it real fast. Kadhai paneer tasted so good. Aloo matar was also too good. Food was very less spicy, had less oil and gluten free. Roti /kulcha were served hot. But the best thing was the veg biryani. I just loved the flavors. Well as we say there is no such thing as veg biryani, well u can term it as ur wish as veg pulao , or anything. But I just loved it's aroma, flavors of spices, as well as the presentation with raita. This place is the most luxurious place to dine-in.<br/>Food: The food is remarkable amazing, I usually use to visit this place and have tasted alot of things. Their non veg kebabs platters is a must try from their menu. The mocktails are also amazing i love their Shirley temple. If you like spicy good more then don't forget to try their paneer lababdar. Their dal makhani is bliss.<br/>Ambiance: The best interior!! Just like a place with beautiful antique. The furniture are classic and everything is neat and clean with a very calming music in the background.<br/>Service: Excellent!

I love this place because of there ambience and the most loved part of the hotel is that they offer open and indoor dining facility. It you are momo lover then you must visit here.

Service is very poor, waiters don't have any idea about the menu or dish they serve. We had ordered Murgh rara and Lahori Chicken. First of all portions were very small, secondly chicken was not fresh in Lahori chicken. Rest ambiance was good.

Food here is just too good. We've had a great experience dinning here and have already visited twice in our short trip to Varanasi. The garden + palace is perfect for dining and just taking a break from the chaos in the city. They have garden dining with live music which is just extra special to see on your Varanasi trip.

Enjoy live music in the lawn with amazing food. We had tandoori chicken and fish tikka, both of which were incredible. Bhuna mutton and butter chicken were also good. Had an awesome experience.

Mughlai and Chinese food especially delicious. Hands down the best kebab platter and dal makhani I've had so far. Service staff not organized and parking can be an issue sometimes. definitely a hidden gem in Varanasi. Ambiance and the property is spacious.

Royal, luxurious and delicious. Great place to sit in the palace and dine. Located inside Surya Kaiser palace. Definitely try the sunhari tikki and palak dahi ke kebabs. Service and food both were amazing.

One in a kind place in Varanasi. This restaurant is actually in a real palace, and serves great Indian food. Perfect to visit with your friends and family. Service is good and the ambience itself is never experienced before. Very busy with the locals on the weekend so weekdays are ideal to visit. Hands down, we had a great experience.

Ambience is really nice, during our stay at hotel Surya we went to this restaurant in the hotel premises. Food was really nice, Service do have a place for improvement but overall experience was nice.

After recent renovations, this place looks and feels even more royale!<br/>Food wise they need to work a bit on their fish starters as it had no salt or flavor whatsoever happened to it. Apart from that, food is good, especially their spring rolls.

Visited the place after a not so great time at the bar on the same property. It's a restaurant with good decor and ambience. I ordered a Greek Salad which was supposed to have some feta in it. The salad was mainly some greens, plenty of onions and capsicum, some tomato and sprinkled with "Feta". The number of foreigners having meal there, made me wonder how can the salad be so unforgiving. I also ordered a Mazze Platter- the hummus was awesome, the Falafel were dry and and unpalatable. The babgonush was sweet to taste, the pickeled carrot and beet root was missing. The pitta bread was replaced by pitta chips, not sure what it was ? I am even if I stay here again I shall not be having food atleast here and neither will recommend any one to visit.

Decor and ambience suits the name of the restaurant..food is also good but the service is very poor and slow... Waiter's tend to avoid sometimes and are not at all friendly..overall a good experience with family and friends

We went on a dinner few days back.<br/><br/>First of all, they lack hospitality. Their staff doesn't know how to welcome the guests, how to greet. They don't even know how to take orders, explain dishes and post serving follow up. They don't even serve you; they just get the food and drop on your table; after that you have to look after yourself. Staff is messily dressed up and they keep running in the restaurant like confused souls. We had to request for giving dining cloth while having soup as they had forgotten to put it on table. There seems to be a disconnect between management, restaurant staff and chefs.<br/><br/>Nevertheless, all these can still be ignored IF food is good.<br/><br/>We had ordered Italian Garbanzo Bean Soup which completely lacked taste and spice. We had to return it for re-cooking for making it eatable. Without taking more chance, we ordered Paneer Shashlik Sizzler which was very very average in taste. Better Sizzlers can be cooked at home. It just had rice, piece of paneer in red gravy, some diced onions and capsicum. Extremely average dish. Poor.<br/><br/>Nothing great about ambience as well, in my opinion. When you go to such a place thinking of its heritage history, you expect a lot in terms of both service and quality of food.<br/><br/>Not recommended at all.<br/>

A must place to visit. Food is exotic, although they took some time to serve but that was worth waiting. Ambience was grandeur. Need to add some more varieties of beverages.

Visited this place for brunch. Well first of all, the place and ambience was nice, it wasn't great but not bad either. The order was served within 15 mins and as one can guess, crispy babycorn lacked in its taste. There was too much salt in there making it hard to eat and above all it wasn't crispy at all. I will not say that it was a bad experience, just not up to the mark with other popular restaurant near by.

Food is good. But service is terribly slow. Am writing this review while sitting in the restaurant and waiting for my food and it's still not here. Have been waiting for over 30 mins and getting annoyed!

Recently while visiting Varanasi we stayed at the lovely Surya - Kaiser Palace. We had a few of our meals at Canton Royale, all of which were most enjoyable. The menu is extensive and great care has been put into including  options which are Gluten free. We tried the Bengali Fish Sandwich and the Eggplant Falafel Burger which were delicious. The portions were huge! Soft big buns filled with hot patties and topped with cheese, served with a big basket of fries. Perfect with a chilled beer on a warm afternoon. On another occasion we tried the Bhutta Methi Palak and the Dal Fry along with Fish Tikka for starters. Probably the favourite meal of our stay.<br/><br/>Also must try the many salad and soup options. The mulligatawny and pumpkin soups are heavenly. <br/><br/>The staff was warm and efficient. They don't have roomali roti on the menu but when we requested them they specially made some for us! Now that's what you call five star treatment.<br/><br/>Wholly recommended.<br/><br/>Food 5/5<br/>Service 4.5/5<br/>Ambience 4.5/5

We have ordered two types of thali only Maharaja thali and banarasi thali, both were good looking. The quality of a thali is enough for two people but the quality of Naan and roti is not sufficient for one person. So we have to order extra Naan which is not good if having a thali.<br/><br/>All the dishes in the thali were good but the sweet was below average and was not fresh at all, this was not expected if you are spending Rs.550 + tax on a thali.<br/><br/>Interiors are good and are in retro style but wires and decay wall papers can easily noticed.<br/><br/>Overall a good place with few minor floes <br/><br/>Food 3/5<br/>Ambiance 3/5<br/>Service 3/5

Its strange to see such less reviews of this place. Surya hotel,one of the best in cantonment. This is one of its in house restaurant which gives a royal feeling. Its quite calm place to dine in with your family. You will find in this place occupied with lots of foreigners.<br/>have been here many times.Like its interiors,its different. The food is good too,as per its price. Paneer khurchan,dal makhni, spinach cheese ,paneer sizzlers,dal fry and naans. These are my favourite from here .One of the decent places for dining in Varanasi with family. <br/>Tried desserts also,they are not upto expectations. Except desserts everything is superb here. Love its royalty :)

Excellent selection. Menu posted here is not up to date. Definitely way more selection than we found at other restaurants in the city. We waited a bit for our order, but it was completely worth it. Don't miss the Watermelon salad or Paneer Satay. The peanut sauce that comes with it is yum! Definitely be back soon.

Enjoyed my stay at surya and my lunch at this restaurant. It has lovely old palace like ambience. Service is good and the food is pretty good too. I only tried their Indian cuisine and it was very impressive. I can't say the same about the other cuisines.

Formerly called Nepali Kothi has transformed into Kaiser Palace, has dining area, banquet halls, pool, and history. The food here is off the hook, never had a dal makhani, like here before. Don't forget to try Aloo Mirch ka Salan, Canton Special Kofta and Kale chane ka shorba. Also got to step in the kitchen, where my thali was getting prepared.  There garden area is fabulous too.

The Canton Royale Restaurant is within The Hotel Surya. It is run as an independant restaurant and has many locals as its customers - this alone is a testamony as to its quality.<br/><br/>The food and service were excellent. The Restaurant Manager was constantly at each table ensuring the guests were happy, the waiters were very polite, friendly and very efficient and the food both tasty and of good quality. The prices were very reasonable.<br/><br/>The restaurant is in the old part of the building which, we understood , was once the Palace of the King of Nepal - a very magnificant room full of atmosphere.<br/><br/>We found it so good we ate there for the remaining 4 nights. We didnot bother looking elsewhere.<br/><br/>On our last night we wanted food not too spicey as we were travelling the next day so had a pizza - surprisingly very good.<br/><br/>Well recommended<br/>We visited in March 2015

Loved dining here during our stay at the hotel...service is attentive and helpful and the food is good and tasty though it may not offer much variety...the Indian dishes are especially well prepared...a place to go back to
