"Kerala Cafe in Banaras is like a warm hug for your taste buds! The staff here doesn't just serve food; they share stories through flavors. Every dish feels like a piece of Kerala's heart on a plate. The cozy ambiance adds to the whole experience, making it a place I always look forward to visiting. If you're in Banaras, don't miss the chance to savor a slice of Kerala at this delightful cafe!

My most favorite is itli fry and I have been coming here for breakfast for 20 years. This is my favorite place. I would like to tell others also to come once for South Indian food.

If you want to have South Indian food in the city of paan and poori sabzi, this is the apt place to have the delicious dosa and not to forget at super affordable price. I had only a few meals there, but I can judge the restaurant entirely based on the quality of the Rava Masala Onion Dosa. The cold coffee was also perfect. It is a cafe in Varanasi that I highly recommend trying.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kerala Cafe, a renowned South Indian restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional culinary experience from start to finish. The menu boasted a wide array of authentic South Indian delicacies and flavours were nothing short of extraordinary.

At the time of our Varanas tour, we just try to get South Indian food. Suddenly we got this Kerala Cafe. We just go inside and get such a delicious breakfast and also take Kerala hot coffee and cold ice-cream. We are so happy to taste this. All the support staff are so busy to give us these delicious dishes as fast as they can. I love it.

Nidhi Kumari
The place is famous for it's South Indian delight at a very reasonable price. The service is fast and the food is really good. You can also enjoy beverages like coffee, milk shakes with ice creams.

A great palace to have the experience of south indian food and yes a peaceful ambiance.
Priyanshu Vishwakarma
I don't know when I started showing up here, " cholle bhatoore ✨ is something I would love always ❤️ "The ambience shares a bright touch of emotions, families & friends, random conversations popping inbetween waiting for food. A place having a holy vibe & the food you get in so little value is unparallel.

If you want to taste authentic South Indian food in Varanasi then "Kerala Cafe" should be your destination.
Fried Idli should be definitely on your list. They had their own style of serving it like some Chaat. Fried Idli immersed in sambhar, Imli chutney, topped with grated onion and Mooli. Every bite will explode various flavours into your mouth.
Rawa Masala Dosa was full of crisp. Coconut chutney and sambhar were delicious.

Kerala cafe is the best cate ever like i try idli sambar this is delicious and yummy and masala dost is little faded but it’s ok.
Anirban Sengupta
Visit here for grabbing a quick breakfast. On entering the restaurant you will get the smell of authentic South Indian food. Best to try among the menu are Idli Vada Combo and Rava Masala Dosa. The price is quite reasonable. Some might find that on the higher side but to get South Indian Food in North India you need to pay more I guess. During summers you can try their cold coffee after meal too. Please remember this is NOT a couple hangout joint but more of a family restaurant so kindly don't go if you have a lot of time to spare. Though the sitting space is large you will frequently get waiting times on weekends so going for a take-away is a good option. Overall a very good food experience in terms of quality and affordability.

My most favourite place to have South Indian in Varanasi. It serves the best dosa. The service is great and you get your order served in 15 mins maximum. The rates are almost unbelievable as they charge really less for such great food.
Adarsh Kamya
Big South Indian Restaurant, completely occupied with locals and tourists in Varanasi. The menu has different type of dosas, idli vada and uttapam with some shakes in beverages. Service here is really fast and taste wise, sambhar is delicious and the dosa is really crisp and tasty. All and all you can enjoy a great breakfast or lunch here with people arriving straight from the Ghats of Varansi.

I rated it 5 star because this place really means a lot for me and lots of emotions added to this place

Got masala dosa from Kerala Cafe takeaway ( home within 1 km ) .
1. Sambhar and Masala Dosa completely cold not at all hot.
2. Burnt masala dosa (felt like they recooked a previously prepared dosa)

The best place for South Indian delights in all of India. Truly, whatever you will order it will blow your mind, that I can assure you. The place has got a face lift and is under renovation but functioning. It's literally cheap but one can truly enjoy the culinary adventure here.... So, just go and have fun. By the way I almost forgot it's always super crowded
Gaurav
Price difference between online order and offline orders..like 1 masala dosa offline price is 60 rupees and online price is 85 rupees..this is unfair
Kuldeep
best place for south indian food in low price......i love this place😍😍😍😍😍
Foodie Baba
They serve good coffee and South Indian cousines. Tried coffee and dosa and both of them were literally fantastic. Ambience and service is good.

A very good restaurant with ambiance for south Indian food. Love the taste.this restaurant reminds me of totally south indian lemon rice. I would recommend to all south indian food lovers
Sonali Kerketta
Ambience and service is quite good. Cleanliness is maintained. Taste could be better and the quantity of the food served is satisfactory. Not satisfied with the cultery and menu as there are not many choices to choose.
Kaptain
Your search for South Indian dishes ends here at Kerala Café. Café started in 1962. I ordered Idli for my breakfast which was made from authentic south indian rice.
Shubham
Best south indian taste in the mid of the town varanasi! You can get best dosa here the one i like the most is rava dosa! The taste is so good that you can lick your fingers in a desi style.
One issue i faced was so less spacious place and the second was of air condition facilities.
Aryan Verma
My favorite one restaurant just because off their good quality and services. Anyone can visit there and i promise that he will get definitely satisfaction

Been visiting this restaurant since I was 7. With reasonable rates they provide food that you'll remember for the rest of your life, and I'm not even kidding. Cold coffee, dosa and uttapam are soooo worth the try.

Since childhood my favorite place for Dosa at Varanasi is Kerala Cafe.It is too old but the taste is as authentic as before. They serve so many dishes but best are Rava Dosa & Fried Idlli.
Cold coffee with Icecream are also very delicious.
today all memories of childhood were running in my mind🤩.
If you are in Varanasi must visit this place.

My all time favorite place when I m craving for se awesome south indian food or chole bhature. Was here few days back and we had masala dosa and chole bhature. As always the food was served quick and piping hot. Loved the taste of sambhar. Chole bhature was just awesome. The place is always jam packed but still there is no carelessness in their service. Will keep visiting this place again and again. Would recommend it to ppl if you are looking for a nice South Indian outlet at a reasonable rate and awesome taste.
Rahul Kumar Singh
Place is not so nice but food is good and reasonable . They accept only cash so please have enough . Parking space for two wheeler is there but parking 4 wheeler might be a problem
Abdul Karim
South Indian food with good taste and in budget also. Rawa masala dosa, onion uttapam, veg biryani, curd rice, chole bhature are really good. We enjoyed very much.

Ultimate Place to Find Authentic and Genuine South Indian Food -- It is Kerala Cafe at Bhelupur. Awesome Food, Superb and Prompt Customer Service. Only thing is that Air Conditioning is not there. However, there is some Renovation and Repairs Work Going On.

Food Especially Dosas - Rava, Plain, Masala are top class. Must Try Is the Rava Onion Masala Dosa. Lemon Rice is also Quite Good. One Small Complaint though. The Coconut Chutney should be Served Chilled. Sambhar should be Served Piping Hot.

But barring these Small Complaints and Objections, Overall A Supremely Satisfying Experience. If you have an urge to have Authentic and Genuine South Indian Food, then Please do visit Kerala Cafe at Bhelupur -- Varanasi. Signing Off with 5.0/5.
Varanasi_food_shaukeens
As a resident of the city, since childhood it had been compulsory to visit this place at least once a month, it always served the best dosa's in the city at economic rates. But now I feel like that the only stories are left for that place because the taste has disappeared, only the buzz is left. I recently had my favorite Rava dosa here which had no taste , no crunch at all ,instead it was soggy. The sambar and chutney has also turned into water like consistency. So I suggest , if you visit this place on someone's advise then don't keep much expectations from the place.

Kerela Cafe, the very famous and crowded cafe which famous for its Dosas, Idli Sambar, Chole Bhature, Uttapam etc.
The actual authentic South Indian food available in Varanasi is present in a restaurant beside IP Vijaya Mall.
I've visited this authentic south Indian vegetarian restaurant a number of times and I've never had a complain. The staffs are friendly and polite. The service is quite quick. The foods quality is absolutely perfect and the Sambhar and Chutney are so irresistibly tasty. They even offer you the Sambhar and Chutney as many times you want them.
It is also very pocket friendly. Kerela Cafe is one of my favourite restaurants to visit when I am hungry.
Shakir Mehboob
This cafe is good for South Indian food, but the ambience his not appreciable too crowded, and food taste is ok ok type. but the cafe is like money worth.

If you want to have some traditional south indian dish the Kerala cafe is the best anyone can visit in varanasi. The taste is awesome and they have maintained it since a long period. A good fast food options along with their famous cold coffee is also available. The service and the ambienc is good and the staff are very co-operative.

Come here for cheap and best.

The special Uttapam they serve is the best Uttapam you can find in the city.

The cafe opens early in the morning at 8 am which makes it a nice place to fill your empty stomach after watching the sunrise.

Enjoy!!

Kerala cafe is one of the most famous restaurant in Banaras, I remember when I was new here every other person would suggest me to visit it at least once , given the hype I decided to visit this place . The very first thing about this place is, it's too crowded and you might have to wait until someone vacates, regardlessly the food is served timely. I have tried masala dosa , onion rawa dosa , sambhar vada and chowmein. They serve delicious food and hence I would say it's worth the hype. The price is reasonable and the ambience is aesthetically pleasing.

Lovely place all type of south and north indian dishes is availabe here, very convinient but in holiday's time this is a busy place because there not a seat for anyone like housefull

Kerala Cafe is most authentic and one of oldest South Indian outlet in the city. It is located in Bhelupur near to IP Vijaya Mall. I have been to this place numerous number of times during with childhood and school days and therefore to refresh those memories by visiting the place during my Varanasi trip this year.

The outlet looked exactly the same in its ambience and location of seats and other items, the only change which I can see in price of the food items
😂😂. Eventhough the prices have soared, the place is still very economical.

I tried Rawa Masala Dosa, Masala Dosa and Cold Coffee and as usual all the items tasted as they did before - Yummy and Tasty. The sambar and white coconut chutney were also good. There is unlimited refilling of sambhar and chutney so you can enjoy as much as you want.

The place also offers some Chinese options along with Chole Bhature. Although I have never tried these items personally one can go for them too.

One should must visit the place if you want to try South Indian during your visit to Varanasi.

This restaurant is very nice restaurant in Varanasi it is located in bhelupur Varanasi this place dish is based on south Indian dishes but all dish is tasty I visit this place with may family and you visit this place with family and friends.
Wanderingflavour
This place is based on South Indian food concept... The place is beautiful in ambience but what it lacks is it's taste which was amazing 2-3 years back
Gautam
Just average south indian. Nothing to rave about. And definately does not deserve 4.3 rating. Billing errors. The restaurant has very low lighting and dark inside.
Ankita Singh
As the name signfies, this place is wholly devoted to the South Indian cuisine.I already had heard about this place from my friends and Being a Food blogger I had to check out this place.
Food~ I tried their traditional Dosas there. The taste of Dosa was just ok, not worth the hype that I heard about this place.Though, the material they have used were very rich and it comes pocket friendly for everyone.

Ambience~ This place is hugely crowded place.Their sitting area is large.Service is fast there though Staff sometimes can be very ignorant sometimes.
It was not worth the buzz that I heard about this place.
Bhavna
This place is love...💝💝💝💝💝💝though it’s a bussy restaurant,u might have to wait to get seat..but the food is worthy n filling...only 1 dish is enough to fill ur empty stomach n the great thing about this cafe is ...they can provide food without onion and garlic..good for all non-onion community people 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Srish_t
Okay hands down the best south Indian food you can get in the City..!! A staple Sunday breakfast included a masala dosa and rava idli also if its a takeaway - a coffee bite 😛
Gagan Preet
The only best south Indian restaurant in Varanasi where you can have amazing dosas idlis vadas and their cold coffee was so good. And they also server chole bhature which was also good.

04.02.2019

It's been long I had something from Kerala Cafe. So, ordered Rawa Dosa to fill in. Dosa was crisp but the stuffing was very simple in taste. The supreme thing in the filling was Aloo :D, yes! I did not like it though. Masalas were low in taste and only big chunks of potatoes were used with some onions and peas. So left the aloo aside. Sambhar was good. The coconut chutney was lacking some salt and chili.

Service is quick despite having the crowd in the afternoon. I feel Kerala Cafe should pay attention to the taste as their customers are in huge number.
Esha Gupta
My trips to Varanasi are incomplete if I do not eat from Kerala Cafe.
Their idli sambhar is the best that I have had anywhere, highly recommended.
The vada sambhar and dosas are great too.
Do not miss visiting this place if you are in varanasi and love South Indian food.
Rachit Shrivastava
One of the old joint in the city, in-fact it's as old as me I guess. :)

This one has been there for almost 25-30 years and while many joints have come and gone, this one is still standing tall, mainly due to it's consistency. I've been eating here for as long as I can remember and still can't tell if there has been any deviation in flavor.

While South Indian here actually is brilliant, few North Indian items are good too. My recommendation would be rava masala dosa and Chole bhature. I don't order anything else as I can't enough of both of them. Nothing to be said about ambiance.

VFM is effective but then I guess, it's the story of the entire city.

A must visit joint if you are in the city. Live long and prosper! :)
Shruti Gupta
The cheapest and the best place to have south indian food. Though this place isn't for someone who is hygiene freak.

But you should definitely try it once.
Deepak Tulsidas
Doesn't have a variety of options to choose from. But still, this restaurant does justice to what it offers in it's menu. The staff are friendly and the service was quick.
Devanshi Verma
This place was used to be one of the mosr famous resturant for south indian dishes but over the years the quality have degraded a lot. Totally disappointed.
Kaustubh T
Located just near bhelupur crossing. Don't go over the ambience as it's a very simple place but with courteous staff, fast service and quite reasonable with a decent portion being served. Ordered the chhole bhature which were just perfect and also masala dosa, veg noodles and filter coffee are the must haves at this place.

The Gourmet Bee
This is the place where Culture of south and north unite. they serves the best quality of south indian dishes in varanasi. My personal favourite is Rava onion masala dosa and filter coffee.
Shreya Dubey
One of the oldest restaurants in banaras is Kerala Cafe. They have limited variety of dosas and south Indian dishes but the taste and quality is superb.
Aditi Pathak
A very simple place serving very basic South Indian food. Nowhere near authentic as often claimed, the menu offers mostly dosas, idli, and vada which are always on the oily side. If you visit expecting traditional kerala (malayali) cuisine, you'd be left disappointed. Service and ambience are not upto the mark. If you're running low on cash and super hungry, this is the place to go, thanks to reasonable rates.
Vaishnavi Natrajan
Nice south Indian restaurant...good service
If I am ever here I never forget to drink cold coffee...they make the best cold coffee. Would highly recommend trying it.
S_suppi
Those who say Kerla café serves the most authentic dosa in Varanasi I am sure they haven't tried much the place was good it serves very basic South Indian food it serves value for money the rates are approximately half of other places but quality wud be 75% of othr places ... Suggestions for restaurant would be to work on lighting coz the restaurant looks really dull and then the variety of dosa is really really less when restaurants are experimenting with dosa in every possible way.
आशीष मौर्या
The best place to have south indian food! It's one of the oldest cafe of varanasi! My favourite here is the rawa onion masala dosa and filter coffee! Every banarasi has been to KERALA cafe!

Swati
Superb South Indian dishes available here !when in doubt a plate of idli & vada always @ ur rescue !!must try their veg pulao🍚 & chowmein 🍝too ! & not to forget their iconic cold coffee with ice cream!
Arun Viswanath
Not really sure whether this should be called a kerala cafe just because it is being ran by a malayali family or not. This place seems to be extremely popular with travellers and locals alike especially for the breakfast. Don't be deceived by the name, they don't have any typical kerala breakfast available just the normal south Indian varieties like idly dosa vada etc. Food taste was ok nothing great. Service was below par and the ambience is meh. They offer great value for money though.
YASH BHARTIA
Same taste since so many years...well maintained and fast service...good staff behaviour...yummy south indian recipes...and food is very good...overall great place for south indian foodies..

Kerala Cafe at Bhelpur is a must try for breakfast. It opens at 8am and serves excellent Keralite food.

We had Wada and Idli in tasty sambar. Also had Plain Dosa.

The filter coffee hits the spot!

One of the oldest south Indian restaurants in varanasi and my childhood fav. Been there dozens of times and still the same taste. Their idly fry is very famous and just love their cold coffee. The place is always full during weekends or on any public holiday between 8pm to 10pm. Just go for it if you love south indian cuisine

It's a good place for south Indian food lovers.
Food quality is awesome, real feel of South India. The main problem is a long queue. U have to wait many times.

Awesome place.. Bang on south Indian food in Varanasi.. While reading blogs I came across dis place n surprisingly it was very close to wer we were put up.. went here for breakfast.. it was jam packed even at 8:30.. a simple tiffin centre kind of place.. but very quick service.. idli vada dipped in sambar was amazing.. it simply melted in my mouth.. plain dosa, masala dosa, rawa dosa everything dat we had was delicious.. coffee was great.. hadn't we tried dis place.. it would have been a great miss..
Shree Prakash Singh
Full marks for south Indian dishes, knowing this place since childhood.. One of the best food outlet in varanasi, with quick service and customer friendly staff
Shubhi Prakash
Kerala cafe is the oldest and still the busiest cafe in varanasi! If you are a south indian food craver you can visit or you must visit the cafe!
It's bit crowdy so you have wait for your turn; seats to be vacant! But the wait is surely worth it!
