Review Varanasi Cafe Bakery & Restaurant - Varanasi

Varanasi Cafe is fantastic! The food is amazing and the owners are so kind. I was lucky enough to get to take a cooking class with the lovely chef-owner Samta. She asked me to choose items from her menu to make, so we made Garlic Naan, Daal Fry, Veg Biryani and Veg Paneer Curry. She was so kind and welcoming and her kitchen was very clean and sanitary. She taught me how to work with Indian spices like tumeric, cardamom, cumin seeds, coriander & her very special homemade masala (she roasts and grinds 21 spices to make it). She make working with the spices and flavors very easy. We even made naan from scratch!! The dishes were all flavorful, but not too spicy. She was happy to work just with me, or she would have let my husband join if he wanted to.. he was happy just to get to eat the delicious food! I was very excited to learn that I could purchase some of her homemade masala to bring back to California. Whether you are going for breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place is sooo good! If you are looking for a fun, special activity, take the cooking class! It was very reasonably priced and you get to eat your delicious meal when you’re done.

I ate here one night and noticed the owner does cooking classes too. So I booked for the following evening. Secret Spice Cooking Class was one of the highlights of my trip to Varanasi. Samta is so warm and passionate about cooking. I had a lovely evening and can't wait to share my new skills when I get home. Would highly recommend.

Had lunch here and the food was amazing, booked than the cooking class for the next day. Samta showed us how to cook Masala, Byriani, Dal and Naan in her home-kitchen in an relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend it!

Delicious food, well priced. We average standard breakfast of omelette, vegetables, toast and jam and it hit the spot. They also do cooking lessons. Google Maps has the location slightly wrong: the cafe is off the steps going down to the ghats.

Nice! Meals cooked to order so takes a little longer but worth it! Nice atmosphere, very gracious owner. She also does cooking classes in evenings!

I have eaten here 3 times already in only 2 days haha.... lovely owner and really good food, both thali and western food such as pasta etc. I think I'm kinda addicted! And also excellent location close to Ganga ma and many important ghats. Will add pics next visit.
