Review Banarasi Baati Chokha Club - Varanasi

Raja Roy
Banarasi Baati Chokha is a popular dish from the Indian state of Bihar. It is made with bati, which is a type of baked wheat flour bread, and chokha, which is a spicy mashed potato dish. The bati is cooked in a tandoor oven, and the chokha is made by boiling potatoes and then mashing them with spices. The two are then served together, often with a side of yogurt or raita. Banarasi Baati Chokha is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a winter meal. It is also a very popular street food in Bihar. If you are ever in the state, be sure to try it! Here is a recipe for Banarasi Baati Chokha: Ingredients: * For the bati: * 2 cups whole wheat flour * 1/2 cup water * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1/4 teaspoon oil * For the chokha: * 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed * 1/2 onion, chopped * 1 green chili, chopped * 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste * 1 teaspoon turmeric powder * 1 teaspoon coriander powder * 1 teaspoon cumin powder * 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder * 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder * Salt to taste Instructions: 1. To make the bati, combine the flour, water, salt, and oil in a bowl. Mix well to form a dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. 2. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll out each ball into a thin circle. 3. Heat a tandoor oven or a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Place the bati circles on the hot surface and cook for a few minutes on each side, until they are cooked through. 4. To make the chokha, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and green chili and cook for a few minutes, until the onion is soft. 5. Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder. Cook for a minute, stirring constantly. 6. Add the mashed potatoes and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for a few minutes, until the chokha is heated through. 7. Serve the bati hot with the chokha.

This place serves the best chokha baati i have ever tried. I had a special chokha baati thali that cost around ₹250. It was more than enough for me. The taste was authentic and the quality was excellent. They serve in a very passionate way that i like the most. Having your meal in a complete desi style using earthen pots tastes heavenly. I highly recommend this place for your meal. Thank you.

Interior is good. Built in a very small space, no more than 36 people can fit. Only 1waiter serving foods and clean tables. I don't like chokha bati so I don't know its taste. But my family loves it.

A beautiful place to have your lunch/dinner. Baati chokha at its best. Reasonable pricing. Nice service. Location is just perfect. I really enjoy the sattu baati chokha taste with ghee and chatni and salad. Every time I visit banaras, it's the place I look forward to.

It takes too much time to take an order, they have few people or I can say only one person who takes the order and also delivers the food although it was good. Food was also ok according to price... Have a visit once
