We visited the Ashram while me and my friend were on our all India tour. The ashram is well maintained and has captured significant moments from the past that depict Gandhi's contribution and personality well. It's a good place to hang around too if you want some personal quite time. There is ample parking available. Best to visit before 5PM since it closes by 6PM. Calm, clean, well maintained place. Nature blessed the ashram by means of the river and trees. Gandhi museum captured several historical movements with photos and illustration. You can enjoy the place irrespective of your ideology or religion.

It's a serene experience. Beautiful river view. Museums. You will get to see different Spinning wheels from Gandhi's time. People here consider him equivalent to god I guess since I saw few elderly women touching his feet ,folding hands Infront of his statute for blessing. Gandhi's house was there. If your are curious enough to visit. Spotted some foreigners too. Anyway ,great couple spot. It's a big place without much disturbance. So can take your girlfriend and spend some time talking in the staircase ,looking at the Sabarmati river. Overall experience is good inside the Ashram. But not outside it. You can't find a restaurant nearby. So have your breakfast,lunch before going.

Well maintained, very neat & clean, meditative, silent & aligned with Gandhi Spirit. Simplicity is the best. No tickets are required. Sufficient parking. Must visit Khadi bhandar they have very good handcraft stuff. Food restaurants are across the road, in front of ashram.

Sabarmati Ashram is located on the bank of sabarmati river, 6 km from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi lived at sabarmati and sevagram. calm, clean,well maintained place with nature blessed ashram with river and trees. Gandhi Museum with several historical movements with photos and illustrations. Good place with traveller friends and family. All amenities like reading room, clean wash rooms and place to relax.. Nice place to visit and spend 3 to 4 hours to learn and life of Mahatma.

Updating this review a bit late. Visited this restaurant/Dining hall twice. Both time it was Sunday and the menu was same. So I can say that they use to have daywise fixed menu. I was craving for Gujarati Thali and came across on Zomato about it. Expectation was not high but once I reached there I found that it was AC dining hall. Seats were comfortable and dinning space was chilled. The taste of food is good and the staff is also good along with their service. There wasnt any Farsan, sweet in menu. Only 1 type of roti (tava chapati). Buttermilk and papad - 1 serve only then charges are extra. I think that is how they are able to manage a Gujarati thali in Rs.130/-. I loved the food. P.S - Payment mode only Cash. No cards, paytm, dineout, etc.. 3.5 Rating out of 5.

If you are looking for a proper gujju meal in the city in low prices and high quality then this is the place. They have only one option for thali. For 120/- you will have enough of good food with best quality. They don’t have sweets that is the only thing that’s missing. Otherwise I have been there thrice and this is irresistible. I have been here for umpteenth times. It use to be an open terrace restaurant set up but now they shifted to 2 floor (which is quite congested). Tough not luxurious place but I always have felt satisfaction after eating here due it's taste. I never found any flaws in quality of the food here. In just 120 bucks they offer unlimited - 4 veggies (Rasawala Bataka is common but taste wise second to none) Bhakri / Roti Daal / Kaddhi Khichdi / Rice Salads Buttermilk / Papad (limited) You mainly finds flock of PG boys n girls here. Sunday evening you will find more families n couples. Evening time you may find yourself in the waiting queue for a while due to high rush.

If you are missing home food this is the place to be, similar to friends union Joshi in Mumbai . No nonsense place, just sit with strangers and finish your food. Thali prices increased to Rs 120, one of the best thalis places I have had in Ahmedabad. Doesn't serve any farsan since it's a no non sense place nor any sweet. But otherwise a wonderful platter, 4 subzis, rotlis and bhakti, rice and khicadi. Many of the big thali places don't offer both rice and khicadi. The khicadi was just yummy. After spending a good time at AlphaOne Mall, i decided to have my lunch here today. Its a small place with few tables and congested seating arrangement. They serve Thali (unlimited) in just 110 bucks! The service is so fast and the servers keep on coming to serve different sabzi, rotis, bhakri, rice, daal and what not! I had a fulfilling meal which tasted just like homemade food. There were four types if sabzi outta which i Loved the potato sabzi! I called for Buttermilk additionally twice which cost me more 20 bucks. Everything is just so worth it here!! Have been hell lot of times to this place and can't get enough.. Unlimited food they serve with such love is commendable.. From salad to the kadhi chawal everything until one feels satisfied is served again n again. 2-3 Sabjis and one lentils along with dal/kadhi with ghee roti and my favourite bhakri. Small bhakri dipped in ghee along with gur and kadhi is pure love. All form of salads and complete meal is served. Just pappad and chaas is limited for one serving and can be enjoyed more for nominal charge. Always pack and waiting.

Just finished a very satiating, wholesome lunch at Maruti Dining Hall. The current rate for a thali is Rs. 110/- at this no nonsense, bare basic Gujarati thali joint. Relatively little has been invested in the ambience at this rooftop restaurant, which is one reason you get such wonderful food at affordable rates..you're only paying for the food :) The thali served consisted of 3 vegetables, 1 pulses, salad, daal which comes with a choice of Gujarati or Punjabi daal and rice with papas and buttermilk. The veggies were all excellent and despite the soaring prices of vegetables in the retail market, the restaurant does not turn to cheapest available options. The entire meal was a pure Gujarati affair sans the fanfare of farsan and sweets dished out by other pricer joints. This comes as close to home cooked food as you can get at a restaurant. The quality of everything served here is 5/5.

went there for sunday lunch after a visit of alpha one mall. very nice gujarati unlimited thali. pure food no add ons like farsan sweets etc. but food was great. all veg, dal, roti, buttermilk was good in taste and quality, no ac though makes little difficult lunch time. very economical. a place where you can eat hard. must visit.

Best place to have very authentic gujarati food. Service ia super quick, ambiance needs more cleaning. Love their dal. Very good in taste. And most importantly it is not pricy as other gujarati thali joints.

When you're in Ahmedabad basic nutrients which helps in proper functioning of body & mind tends to get depleted. For people with depleted reserves or who wants to continue with their healthy eating habits this place is like a Haven. High on nutrients minus all the crap you'll find at mainstream Gujarati thali places or some funky places all over serving cream sandwiches, etc. Worth a visit for people who wants authenticity. Every day they have different healthy items in their thali. In my personal opinion one of the best veg thali I have ever had. HEALTHY UNPROCESSED FOOD. Difficult to find through Google maps. Basically it's on the top floor of the building that Google maps takes you to. PS - Sorry for the half eaten thali pic, food looked so yum that I remembered to take a pic after some nutrients pumped into my brain.

A heaven for students living in hostels and PG. For Rs 80-100/unlimited - they offer great food, which can be eaten on daily basis. It offers Gujarati fresh food. The place is always full-whether lunch time or dinner time. The place is however-typical middle class with fans and desi service boys with poor hygiene. Be in time or there is a huge waiting.
