Best mutton keema curry in town. In fact even in Delhi you cant find mutton as good as Puran Singh.
A road to Himachal or Punjab, stop over at Puran Singh is must for any food lover (of course non veg)
I have been visiting this place for the last 60 years. They have maintained their high standards of food. Truly a gourmet's delight, especially if you relish mutton and chicken dishes.
Confusion: Numerous Puran Singh, but selling the same thing. Mutton items are to die for. However, Chicken items are avoidable. Mutton keema curry is above all, with tandoori roti, which they serve one by one - hot only. Laccha Parantha is a must try. Extra free gravy is only served to the worthy customers.
A trip towards Chandigarh and onwards is never complete for me without a visit to Puran Singh Dhaba. I stick to the usual chicken curry and rotis. I have a sensitive stomach so having food here is a safe bet for me. I've tried mutton curry in the past, and although it's flavourful, the mutton is a bit chewy.
It is a dhaba, so keep your expectations aligned. The staff has always been courteous, and the service is relatively quick.
I had the opportunity to have lunch here after almost 10 years. Once again, it was a very satisfying experience.
While travelling in that route one often suffers from the dilema of whether to leave the elevated road to eat there or continue to drive for a smooth and faster ride.
But please listen to my advise. You must stop there for your lunch or dinner. If not hungry, get it packed. Just don't miss the opportunity. We ate Mutton Keema and Mutton Qorma in the restaurant and got Rogan Josh and Dal Makhani packed for home. The preparations are fantastic, divine. It's a wonder how they maintain consistency. Cost is very moderate to say the least.
Thought it's fame lies in non-veg dishes but you do get limited but quality veg preparations also.
About 10 years back, the restaurant was smaller, parking was very difficult and food was available only from 12 pm to 430/5 pm. Today they have larger sitting arrangement, day-night working hours and parking area as well.
There are other eateries by the same name adjacent to this one but don't go there. This original Puran Dhaba faces the side road, has photo of famous food vlogger Mayur and Vishal. The copycats are on the main road. So be careful.
The cost of getting down from the elevated road is nothing compared to the pleasure of having a great food in the original Puran da Dhaba. Make sure not to miss it ever.
Had heard so much about this place since years. So had to try it once. Although the ambience was not that great and the cleanliness was just ok.
The best part was the food which was yummy.
We had meat rice/keema kaleji/ mutton. Curry with tandoori roti and food was excellent it was served with mint chutney and onions
I visited here on 17th of November 2021 with my dad there are several dhabas named as Puran ka dhaba but in this dhaba ( Puran Singh Ka Mashoor Vishal Dhaba) the food is very good we tried here Chicken Curry & Keema Meat with Tandoori Roti both dishes were very good in taste specially Keema Meat you must try this dish if you are a mutton lover.
One thing i want to tell the owners they should maintain clean wash rooms.
I Visited many times here. They are serving the best dishes on Nh1
This is the original one. If you are looking for the original Pooran Singh's Dhaba, this is the right place. Must go for mutton and chicken gravy. Of you are there in the morning you can get the non veg curry by around 10am along with paranthas. They won't serve extra gravy so you might have to order another plate if you want more stuff. The place works only because of the taste don't expect service from the staff. The turn around after placing the order is fast though as the curries are always kept pre cooked.
Like other guides said, it's little confusing to choose one from the many that have the same name. We went to the one having the photos shown below. The food we order was chicken chilli and roti. The food was so tasty. Also, the price is moderate. Overall, we liked it very much. But, the toilet was in a kind of inconvenient place. Also, it was not hygienic. Other then that, nothing much to complain. Service was ok.
Every time I cross this small town I have to eat out here. Known for its Mutton dishes, the dhaba is a bit dicey to spot since many dhaba with similar names have come besides it. However just enter the one with blue board and your in the right place!
Hungry to the core we entered and ordered for Mutton fry, Mutton Keema and Mutton Rogan Josh. The best part was that all the three curries were different. And tasty to its core. We ordered for different kinds of bread to go ahead with our extensive lunch and followed it up with a soda at the end to digest it all.
