Review The Permit Room - Bengaluru

Ajit Bhaskar
My favourite pub in Bangalore. Vast seating, excellent vibe, fantastic food! Great service. It is really sad that this place has closed down. The food is inspired by Karnataka. Cool film inspired decor everywhere. The baked Mysore Pak is most excellent. I really hope they open again! Truly a loss for Bangalore. Wonderful, wonderful place to hang out ❤️

Lovely place. Have been there a couple of times and tried different items. They have a quirky take on different south Indian dishes. The cocktails are pretty interesting. The ambience is very good. We went during the mango season so we got to try mango flavor dishes. They have a variety of interesting appetizers so would highly recommend you to try different dishes. Go as a big group so that you can try out many items. We have visited only the ground floor so cannot comment on other levels. They have fun paintings adorning the walls. Service was good. Portions are shareable. Desserts are mind blowing. Check out the pictures from recent visit. Yummy all the way.

Pretty neat and cozy place tucked away in the junction opposite Garuda Mall. The chocie of food is great, most of their dishes are well thought and is inspired from the local South Indian dishes. Their cocktails with a Desi Indian twist is also a must try. Update- this place has closed down.

Ambiance is really great. Food is tasty. Drinks are standard. Price list is not expensive at all. It’s great place to hangout with friends and office group. It’s highly recommended that you book in advance if you’re planning to visit there on weekends Location is amazing. 5/5 Ambiance is great. 5/5 Drinks especially beer are good. One should try wheat beer. 5/5 Food is not so good. They serve only South Indian food, that too not at all spicy. Very limited options. 4/5

A really good restobar and pub in Bangalore. When it comes to choosing restobars or pubs in Bangalore, one will have to struggle a lot. There are too many options in each of the locations. This is a great place with an amazing terrace with some yummy food! They do have a nice selection of cocktails too. The service is the only thing which disappointed me this evening. Orders were getting ignored and we need to keep following up for the same. Prices are reasonable.

Always happy to visit here. They huge seating capacity of 4 floors (you will always get a table, with little waiting time sometimes). They serve south indian Inspired fusion food & drinks are south in a very different and modern way. They have salads, appetizers, excellent cocktails and desserts. The cocktails and non-veg appetizers are the best. Oh, the vegetarian food is delicious aswell, but non-veg south indian food is just too good like the Andhra chilli chicken, shrimp biryani, Haleem samosa, lamb chops, nadan khozi curry etc. . The cocktails varieties are very different & refreshing, one will not get disappointed like the Ginchax, Kattanchaya are very good and new on menu. Their older cocktails chill pill madi, Patti's magic rasam & fizzy kosambari one should try. Filter coffee mouse and Chirori sandwhich are thier best desserts.

If you like to try south indian food with a modern twist, this is your place. They have very innovative south indian dishes that tasted good too. My favourite was puliyogari poppers! They have a huge menu for cocktails but nothing was exceptional. The presentation was ok and taste was also normal. In dessert , coffee mousse is a must try! Visit this place if you love south indian food and want to experiment with your taste buds!

Situated just in front of Garuda mall at the corner of a rather busy street, this fancy place is hard to miss. The ambience is very likeable, specially the funny and creative posters/paintings all over the place. The music selectionis great as well as the service. As for food, we usually visit for lunch and have the Thali, which is unique, plenty and delectable unless you aren't fond of coconut in your gravy. Although I would say they can provide more options and variety given the price tag as the place wouldn't qualify as pocket friendly. Do visit if you are looking for unique take on South Indian food along with few drinks as there's plenty on offer.

One of the best restaurants in Bengaluru. They mostly serve south Indian food with an amazing presentation and twist. Their sense of humor needs an award. Stating from the names given to dishes to the funny boards all over. Checkout for the pics for stories. Some have the content showing funny alternative words related alcohol in all south Indian language. Food was amazing in taste. Their service is amazing. The ambience is different. Most of the wall is covered with charts used for reaching small kids. This made us nostalgic. Outdoor seating has vertical gardens. Don't forget to try their amazing cocktails with a twist. Even their washrooms are unique with safety seating covers which automatically gets sanitized upon pushing a button. Forgot to tell you , they gave valet parking. . Must try dishes : Iyengar's bakery egg puff Egg Benedict Filter kaapi pot du cream which is served on coconut shell ( I got lost eating this. It was so yummy. ) Baked mysore pak which oozes out ghee.

It was my first time in Permit room and really loved it. Ambience is nice and staff were friendly. The highlight of this place is, FOOD! It unique and different take on the South indian food. Craft beer is good (tried Witty wit). Smoking is not allowed in the rooftop. You have to come down a floor to smoke. They close early on weekdays which is a bummer. All in all, nice place to chill after a retail therapy at the Garuda mall. PS: don't miss the quirky posters in the hall way and near the staircase :)

Location is definitely magical & for that reason I stepped into the place..!!! Ambience is attractive too having seated on the top floor facing Garuda Mall & the junction is a good delight to the eyes...Lovely weather can add cherry on the cake on roof top...Drinks menu was with good options but little restrictions when it comes to food..as serving only South Indian cuisines in a Pub is kinda unexpected thing. If the cuisines menu can be extended & some good music can be played...it can be a nice place to hang out...

Well, seriously I'd rate it between 3 nd 4 if there was one. Positives? No frills decor with a great view, if you manage to take the 2nd-floor corner table. Went with the wife for a Christmas lunch. Had already decided not to go for the festival fare and instead opted for the fare from the menu. Started with a cocktail for the wife and a craft beer for self. Along with Nizami Haleem Samosa. trifle oily, but good and crunchy. Along with this had also ordered Adai with chicken. It's a little cumbersom as the adais are small and the pepper chicken filling spill out. For the main course I had ordered a pandi (pork) with upma and my wife ordered avaial with appam. The avaial was fine she said, rather large, fit for two persons. I did not enjoy the pandi with upma. Guess I was expecting the standard hot Coorgi fare with gravy. Instead it was 4 pirces of pork serves with fried pieces of pork. The pork pieces were too fatty for my taste. All in all, an OK experience with standard service. I guess, if one restricts to drinks and starters it should be fine

While walking past this place, caught by the big poster of the Permit Room (TPR) we simply could not resist going in. The food and drink names will blend you and the old Bangalore charm , which you might or might have known till now. I would say I am lucky to visit it around that time when I am able to see the outside greenery in the fast fading daylight. The ambience is lively. Even they have kept a lot of plants inside. The decor evokes an old Bangalore charm. They have 4 floors. Coming to food - they have Sunday brunch . In snacks you can find cheesy gunpowder pondy fries ( choice of potato or tapioca served with chunky mango pickle mayo) , bellary palya (chilled eggplant mash and smashed peanut dip with jowar crackers), okra podi chips, mini podi idlis ,dosas ( roasted beetroot / shredded chicken / pulled pork )etc. You can also savour Goan prawn cocktail, pandi spare ribs, Kerala beef fry, liver n bacon pepper fry, fish pollichathu, kosambari salad (mixed moving dal sprouts, feta crumble and pomegranate arils). Very different food on the whole. For drinks too you will discover different names and flavours. We tried Ammachi's kashyam & Guntur liquid chutney. #avrilsfoodjournee The service might seem a little slow, but with friends or family , sometime this pace buys you more space.

2nd floor don't have much space, ya but balcony view was good, friendly service nice food, best beef stake, and bit expensive over all nice place to be with friends.

An excellent place to chill out with lovely ambience and delicious food to relish! The pork spare ribs was lip smacking and very well cooked, kudos!! Definitely on my list on my next visit to Bangalore 😊👍👍🍺

Love the innovations in their food menu , street food twisted explosions .. almost all dishes are recommended ... roof top space being the best to hang out ..
Revs Menon
One of the best places to try both food and drinks! We had almost all the starters on the menu and what we loved the most was Mini podi idlis, Gunpowder fries, Paatis rasam (cocktail), Goan Fish curry and rice! Loved it and would definitely visit again! :)
Shakuntala K Bhaduri
Superlative food, fantastic service! We enjoyed every dish we ordered (and we ordered a lot of dishes) and didn’t take home any leftovers! Will come back!

One of the finest dining places for families and small social gatherings. Their food is fresh and delicious. I ordered Telangana Chicken (more like Andhra cuisine), Nalli Ghosh Biryani, Tapioca Fries, Fish in banana leaf & drinks. For three of us it was sumptuous and filling!
Vaibhav Gochade
Nice place to get relax, also the view is nice from the roof.

Awesome place with good food and drinks.. Good music and lovely people.

This place has old Bangalorean Favourites served in a posh setting - but the food is good and wholesome, not the fancy kind that makes you stay hungry. We had ghee roast chicken with parotta and pork ribs with a pandi curry type dressing. I had a cocktail called Divine Intervention, it was pretty and also delivered with a hint of jaggery and tamarind. The rooftop ambience was also very heady.

The ambience is great. Staff are polite and Professional. Valet parking available. Prices are reasonable, impressed with different styles of food like kerala,Coorg etc

Kerala Beef in Coin Tossed Parotta~
As the calendar has run its course, we find ourselves soul deep in an affair that began years ago and fortunately, shall tickle our taste loins till death do us part. This dish greeted us at the witty South Indian pub, The Permit Room constructed to invite any passer-by.
.
.
The place stands out with South Indian dishes amped up to suit pub culture and yet, leave you craving for a longer stay in the South. The place was decked with satirical posters, and a menu with twists only Rajni films have the liberty to celebrate.
.
.
This dish was cooked to perfection, the beef melted in our tongues and paired with light fluffy coin parottas, more often than not you'll roll it like a taco, deck it with crunchy curry leaves and swoop in for a large bite. We washed it down with Hyper Monk (a cocktail made with Old monk, which happens to be most of us southies favourite rum, coffee, dunked with cinnamon and loaded on coconut syrup).
.
.
To cool off a heavy scene, we then chose to dive into their Rasam cocktail but I'll let you run off and experience it for yourself. For an affair of such sorts is tastier when indulged in, you'll agree. - Gastronomic stories bidding you happy tummies and crazier souls✨
.
.
With love,
Your Khabae💞

This place is love. Every mouthful of food here brings joy to the tastebuds. Food from all corners of South India notched up with some tweaks here and there and plated beautifully.
Hog, hog and hog!

Been waiting to check this place out for a really long time and finally did last week. Loved the ambience of this place and they had an interesting menu which had a little twist to the regular south Indian food. Tried onion samosas, paniyaram, Appam and mushroom gravy and also the filter kaapi brûlée. Everything was good. Also, a very different cocktails menu with a lot of varieties to choose from.

The Permit Room
Commitments and Happy Landings
Opp Garuda Mall, Ashok Nagar
Bengaluru

‘Fine dine’. Words used a bit too loosely nowadays. Just like ‘Love you’. They keep it casual. Every now and then we encounter something ‘new’, and we start believing in commitments and happy landings. Before we go further, this is not about our dating lives. This is about ‘Permit Room’ at Bengaluru. Fine Dine at its best.

The food.

✅A very creative menu. My eyes fell on haleem samosas. I love haleem. I love Samosa. Easy choice. Crispy this crust samosa filled with melting haleem. Let’s forget the cheese burst, this aromatic haleem burst will leave you craving for more.

✅Moved on to Andhra style chilly chicken. The spicy sauce on that perfectly cooked chicken made me drool. Freshly cooked appam soaked that curry well , we wiped it off like no ones business.

✅Chef recommended lamb and we went for it . Cooked to perfection, we just looked fascinatingly at the beauty and had one amazing meal. It comes with a side of that silky soft haleem.

✅You like filter coffee? You like Creme Brûlée’? You gonna love filter coffee creme brûlée they have here. Heaven served in a coconut shell. This was love at first bite.

Ambience is beautiful with an outdoor patio to drink fusion cocktails at Namma Bengaluru.Staff could not have been trained better. A fine dine indeed. No fake promises, this one lives up to our expectations and the promises it makes. Before you know it you would be committed. The happy landing.

🙏Instagram: Hippiefoodster 🍽

Had some really good food after quite a while. I had my hopes up because of the restaurant being one of the top 50 Indian restaurants by Condé Nast. It proved to be better than my already high expectations. It very evident that a lot of care goes into setting up every single plate at this place- especially love the lemon in a wrap that comes with every plate. It was quite difficult to choose from their meticulously crafted menu- settled for the Goan Prawn, and Crab curry and the Naadan Kozhi Curry, Meen Pollichathu. What blew my mind were their desserts. I might have been too full from the main course to appreciate dessert at that point- but not this one. Their dessert menu is not the usual lazy cheesecake-choco truffle-red velvet narrative. They've done their homework and added their signature onto it. While the Kaapi Pot Du Créme with the banana fritters was a coconut shell full of sheer melt-in-your-mouth goodness carrying an everyday flavour, the Jigathanda was a brilliant stranger- yet a comforting combination of Rose Milk, Ice cream and dulce de leche- with the basil seeds providing some textural relief.
My over-indulgent review should have given you a fair idea of how good the restaurant is and why it made it to the list.
Monalisa Chakraborty
I love their food very much. I love the Corgi style pork served with akki roti here it is the best pork gravy I ever had . Another fav here is the mutton brain fry and angel masala fry. I also love their cocktail called as silk smitha . They have some amazing cocktails and dessert. Baked mysore pak is a must try.
Highly recommended place for good cocktails, dessert and authentic south Indian food.

Absolutely delighted to find another gem in Bangalore. One of the few restaurants in Bangalore which actually offer unique flavours. We tried the potato and mango curry with ghee rice. You don't find restaurants offering food like this elsewhere. The quantity is great too. A single serving is good enough for two people.
Will definitely visit again!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve been to, I mean it. Awesome ambience! Lovely service. Friendly staff. The pimped out Ravi Varma paintings caught our attention. 😅
In love with the kamachitra beer! That bitter citrus punch, tingled taste buds. 😁 One spoiler for me was, peanuts in avial. 😬

Courteous staff who guide well, perfect place with family and friends. Grab an ale , sit back and savour the delicious food! Traditional South Indian with a modern twist!

Best restaurant in MG road.
This is our go-to place whenever we visit MG road. The menu is so out of the box!
This time we tried egg puff, idiyappam starters which were very tasty. Service is prompt and our waiter was extremely nice and warm. The Jack coco mocktail was okay but guava one was yummy! We always order the Mysore Pak dessert here and it's heaven on earth level delicious!
Sravanchulleri24
Food was really good and yum. Lots of varieties also Hyder’s service was really polite and good. Enjoyed a lot

I had the spacer stout to drink, appams were a little hard. The mysuru curry had too much spice in it. The Andhra chilli chicken had right amount of chilli and lemon zest. The okra podi chips were a winner because it was so uniquely prepared.

I have seen this place many times in the past when I was at the Garuda Mall. However, it was only last week that I finally visited it along with my friends for lunch.
We ordered Cubbon Park Salad, Okra Podi Chips, Andhra Style Chilli Chicken, Hyderabadi Lamb Platter, Calamari 65, Appam with Chettinad Mushroom Curry, Melon Puchkai (Mocktail),and Tambram Thank You Ma'am (Mocktail). My friends had ordered some alcoholic beverages as well.

Please find my reviews below:

5/5 for Food - As far as I was able to observe the menu, the food served here is mostly of South Indian origin.
I absolutely loved every item that I had ordered. Each item was so true to the way it was described on the menu. Below are the items that I tasted.
The Cubbon Park salad platter came with small servings of baby corn, masala peanuts, puffed rice, baby tomatoes, onion rings, and lettuce. All these ingredients could be mixed together to form a good Bhelpuri.
The Okra Podi Chips was suggested by my friend and it seemed to be one of the highly demanded items. The okra bites were crunchy and loaded with podi masala. They were fried so well, that there was no iota of oil clinging on to them. This is something that I'd recommend each and everyone to try out.
The Andhra Style Chilli Chicken was served on an appam, and it came with a mirchi bhajji. The pieces of chicken were tender, juicy and melted well in my mouth. The appam was crisp on the sides and soft in the middle - just how it should be; I could get the mildly sweet and sour flavour from it. The mirchi bhajji was an icing on the cake.
The Melon Puchkai mocktail was nice and refreshing, and I sipped it down in no time.

5/5 for Ambience - We sat in the outdoor seating area. The place has been set up beautifully with plants on the walls, blinds on the windows, and a layout of rustic, wooden tables and chairs. The place was so green and refreshing that could not think of a better place to sit and spend my lazy weekend.

5/5 for Price - The quality and the quantity of the food served here is worth the price charged.

5/5 for Service - The service was quick. The staff attending us was friendly.

This place was on my list for long and I must say it was not a disappointment at all. In love with the food we tried at Permit room. The ambience, staff is all a plus point to this place. We tried Andhra chilli chicken which is the best version of this I have tried anywhere and baked mysore pak..it's the best dessert I have tried anywhere! No matter what diet you are on, this a must have. You will never regret going to this place. It has an interesting set of menu with variety of options for food and drinks both.

TL;DR just go!

God, this place is soo good! They have a modern take on a lot of traditional dishes.

First the setup and decor was super nice. We sat right next to plants. I was told rooftop decor is even better.

Then the food was great. We had Okra (super crispy, not oily at all), Chilli chicken with appam (eat it with appam instead of just like that), Idiyapam rolls (I think so, li'l hazy on exact names), egg puffs (soft with nice flavor)

There was a bunch of other stuff, but I am forgetting the names.

We skipped mains and moved to desserts. Whatever the mango dessert they had made me feel so dirty but it was freakin' amazing
Nisha
A good place to visit.
Tried the chicken ghee roast and rice and it tasted really good.
But it is not pocket friendly place, yet a nice place to visit

Had been for dinner on weekend. Got immediate table. Its opp garuda mall. Spacious and has rooftop too. Nice ambience. Has all kind of south indian foods. Love d the fikter coffee creme dessert. Must try.
Pritika
Been to the Permit room on a couple of occasions and it didn't disappoint. Although on the expensive side of things, absolutely worth it! I recommend the Kerala style beef, the coffee mousse and the puliyogre balls. Flavors that burst in your mouth and you can't help but dig into the food. Beer was alright, I enjoyed the Christmas special mulled wine though!
Danish Zia
I like the ambience and the food, crowd is also good considering the location. Food is a little different with south indian touch, but got real taste. I loved their haleem samosa, onion samosa, Donna Biryani, chilli chicken.
Gaurav G
We went here on Christmas night and I was surprised to see this place empty. I did hear a lot about the fusion cuisine
here and went in. We ordered 'Donne Biriyani
, Nalli Biriyani, Gongura Chicken Wings, Samosa, Appam, Bhindi fry [Forgot the name from the menu]'.
I always love BBQ flavored wings, but this was an interesting twist. It felt like the wings were literally dipped in pickle sauce, because that's exactly how it tastes.
Donne Biriyani was well Donne Biriyani and it was good. Nalli Biriyani had this huge piece of meat which was a bit chewy and no one wanted to eat it.
The desserts gave a good feel at the end and it was a pleasant experience. Visit here if you would like to give your taste buds a wake up call once in a while.

Food was great. No complaints. Rooftop was nice but a bit loud. Area in front of restaurant could be cleaner.
Shruti Choubey
Amazing food.

Awesome ambience.. delicious south indian cuisine...
Hjarun
Found it be just an ok place: the menu is too confusing / complicated to start with. Claims to be South Indian in nature but none are authentic. Finally it is too expensive for the experience. Also the location is just not right for a roof top gathering.. too noisy, thanks to the crazy traffic at the junction.
Nandini Rao
Group of 4 for lunch on Christmas day, 3 vegetarians and one non vegetarian.
The food was fantastic, the ghee roast is all that I needed in a ghee roast, Appam and Akki Roti are point on. The Avial was superb too. Not to mention the bhatakal tiffin Biriyani and the BBQ Madras Mushrooms.
Considering we were a group of starving people the staff was courteous and quick to accommodate us.
While it doesn't take away from the food or the overall ambience, what's this new thing where we have to specifically ask for water to be served at the table?
Over all great experience, definite brownie points for hitting the nostalgic notes with the Jil Jil Jigarthanda!
Definitely coming back to try the other great offerings on the Menu!
CS
4.5 and quite a merry Xmas at this place! Visited this very recommended place and was not disappointed at all. Portions are great for the price and such an interesting menu of food and cocktails. Pandi curry is gorgeous and so is the coffee cocktail.
Disappointing was a dessert called chocolate Bumble though. Great for the eyes but left us wanting with its such small quantity and no remarkable flavour. We resorted to packed plum cake and vadilal vanilla ice cream after and those were heavenly instead.

Horrible place! Worst service
Aditi Singhal
Horrible food and horrible service - the place looks decent but why the hell would you want to eat such average food

This place has everything perfect. The food best menu I found in the recent time. The best staffs. Soulful ambience.

Great place to have south Indian fusion dishes....the ambience is well suited for an afternoon lunch

The desi South Indian food served in a different avatar is packed with flavour and the cocktails have a different punch to them! It was a lovely Saturday evening to spend with good food, ambience and courteous staff. Will be back soon to try the other dishes!

The kokum sharbat Cocktail was just amazing!!!! Food was also pretty good.

Feedback for staff - please tell guests about the seating options available.
We sat in a nice cozy corner on the ground floor which was by no means bad. But given a choice we'd have preferred the rooftop area, which being first time guests we weren't aware of.
That little bit apart, this is a very nice place to have a beer and conversation.
Rathin Somnath
Excellent handling of the reservation by Cynthia. Gave us an option of two tables on the terrace, even though it was a Sunday. But the handling of the food order left a lot to be desired. We were served uncooked appam, twice and attended to by a very impolite waiter, who refused to take back the appam. The appam was so uncooked, that the batter was sticking to the spoon with which he was serving us from. On seeing us dissatisfied, a well-meaning manager attended to us and brought us some well cooked appam, after which we finished our dinner - but this was too late. Even the complementary desert he gave us could not undo the bad taste left by the uncooked appam and the behavior of the waiter. While I have visited the Permit Room many times before, this is the first time I have had a bad experience - even prompting me to write this review! A 4.6 rated restaurant cannot be providing such service, and more importantly cannot be ruining the experience of its customers!
Robin V
We were celebrating my friends birthday at Permit Room, the staff were so courteous, energetic and friendly, it made the entire experience amazing. We met Noel, such a legend a pro at the Bar, if you want to taste the best cocktails talk to Noel, he can read your mind and suit your cocktail.
Arya Gopakumar
We came here for an informal team lunch. Absolutely loved the place. The food was delicious and it's presentation on point. We tried so many items off the menu. The chilli cheese bacon bajji, beef dry fry pickle, the filter kappi pot du creme were some of my favorites.
Nithya Ramesh
In a city like Bangalore, where you are spoilt for choice it is very difficult to have a favourite place, but after 7 years in this city, I think permit room is it. The food and drinks are mind blowing. I love Patti's magic rasam, the bloody Mary, the beers and even their lime soda salt is the best I have had. Everything in the menu tastes good... Seriously.. but my favourites are okra podi chips, the curd memories ( reminds me of my childhood ) , Kerala coin parottas with beef.. the bheja fry potlams... And the curries and appams are all equally good. The way to end your meal is a no brainer - it's the silky smooth filter coffee Panna Cotta. Ok just typing this review has made me want to go there right away.
Vivek Subramaniam
You have a winner on your hands if you like some fusion food. Permit room goes all out in providing some brilliant dishes like the go gongura chicken and the filter kaapi creme bru le (OMG on this one!). However there maybe certain dishes that may not suit your palate. Which is ok if you go in with an experimental mindset.
Ahnik
love this place. Love the menu, the selection of drinks. The South Indian inspiration plus the tongue in cheek humour seen in the ambience and decor can't be missed. The bar tenders and stewards are from an old school Bangalore pub era. Absolutely love that bit of nostalgia.

There are pet friendly zones, smoking zones, family zones, the lot. Caters to every class of customer.

Do ask if you can borrow the coasters as a souvenir.
Noopur Priya
Roof top setting is the best part. Over looking Garuda mall this place gives great view on a crisp cool Bangalore evening. Staff was courteous and prompt. Food and drinks were good and innovative. We especially enjoyed the craft beers served in house.

This place has amazing food and beautiful ambiance :) one of its kind, this place serves really good South Indian specialities. For anyone who wants to have really good food while you drink away, this is it. A must try place:)

Permit room has always been my favorite for it's food. The ambience is lovely with vertical gardens and cuts you off the traffic and bustle outside. I prefer the smoking area on the ground floor. It's also pet friendly.

Coming to food, my all time favourites are Iyengar bakery egg puff - a twist to Bangalore's famous egg puff served with hollandaise sauce.
- Chilli Bajji - this is stuffed with cheese and Ohh the amalgamation that happens when you take a bite 😍
- Bellary Babu's badnekai- eggplant mash served with jowar crackers, something I like here but definitely not a crowd pleaser.
- curd rice here is a must try!
- my favorite cocktail here is the Paati's magic Rasam - a whiskey based cocktail mixed with rasam powder, curry leaves and chillies.

The staff are courteous and responsive.
Food - 4.5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Always had a great time here! The prices are a tad bit higher although the ambience and food compensates for it.

Recommendations:
🍺Budweiser Tap : The tap beer here tastes a lot different in comparison to the regular Budweiser.
It's less bitter and feels extremely fresh.

🥘 Pandi Curry (Coorgi style Pork) with appam:
Was amazing. It was a close call to the fresh pork you get at Coorg and went really well with appam and puttu. Although, my quest to find the best pork in Bengaluru continues. (Please post your recommendations if any)

All that aside, the Ambience, theme and Indo centric posters around the restaurant is admirable.

Cheers!

Awesome place. Scrumptious food. Loved the ambience. The food has its uniqueness and is not just the typical South indian food. A must must try. I loved it!!

When in doubt to choose a place I say go to Permit room. Beer is amazing. Me and my friends had the crafted beers. It was good. BBQ Madras mushrooms, calamari 65 and chicken curry with rice the Kerala style. Food was just mouth wateringly delicious. It has lot of plants which give you good oxygen. Courteous staff. Definitely visit again

Permit room is just the perfect place to chill at.
We actually landed up here around noon for a quick lunch and everything just blew us away.
Starting with the drinks, we tried a melon mocktail and their kokum based cocktail, the cocktail was great, the mocktail was average.
We tried their gongura chicken wings next and this dish is absolutely not to be missed. It's amazing. We also tried a dosa-pumpkin dish from their kodava menu and that's another show stopper, it's beyond anything we could've expected, must try! We ended our meal with their filter coffee pot du creme and the mousse itself was Heavenly, the banana fritters weren't great, had a weird slimy feel but the mousse more than made up for it.

Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5

Reception was good. Service was slow but staff were good. Aircon was switched on after request. Lots of mosquitoes. Plates were chipped. Entre plates too small. We did not eat desserts because the mosquitoes harrowed us!!

The Permit Room is easily one of my most favourite restaurants in India. I'd been following their gram even before I reached Bangalore and it was my absolute dream to dine here. The ambiance is always lively and joyful, the servers are sooooo nice and polite and of course, the food is unparalleled.I recently went for the Onam Sadhya meal and it was so damn nice! My favourites from the meal were the pachadi and and khichadi dishes.I went earlier in May for my birthday dinner with my partner and I enjoyed myself so much! I'll try to give a detailed review from all that I remember.- Puliyogare Poppers : It's a genius idea to roll puliyogare rice as crispy poppers! The dip complemented the dish so well. I really like how all the dips at TPR are so well thought of and match each dish perfectly. Usually restaurants keep similar tasting generic dips which are not fun at all.- Iyengar Bakery Puffs : Again, a very genius creation of the chef! The curry hollandaise went so well with the perfectly baked puff pastry. The taste of the tomato thokku could be more apparent though.- TPR Chicken Ghee Roast w parotta : A really melt-in-the-mouth tender chicken just as the menu describes it. I've never had tastier and more tender legs. The masala was out of this world. Parotta went so well with it :)- Haleem Samosas : Insane! Absolutely insane. The filo was so flaky! The tomato dip went so well with it.- Raw mango fish and idlis : From the seasonal mango menu. It's the most heavenly dish I've ever had. The crispy idlis...gosh!- Chiroti Sandwich : The dessert could be made better but it was ingenious either way! The basundi and ice cream were insane.

I love TPR, I wish to personally compliment all the chefs some day! May your food always be this memorable :)

It is located opp Garuda mall and they've a rooftop space that overlooks that junction, giving you the quintessential Bangalore feels.

We were a large group of 6 and were promptly shown to a big table. Ordered wine and mocktails. For starters it was Bangalore Banana Bhajji, Puliogare Poppers, Samosas, Pepper Chicken, Bhindi Fry. Everything was so good and had this modern twist to your day to day Karnataka food.
For mains we ordered appam and ghee rice with 2 veg curries viz., Muushroom Curry and Veg Hyderabadi.

They also have Geist Beer which just takes the food experience to another level.

The ambience is done with a fine taste showcasing Kodava history and the Kodava staff just adds to the whole experience.
Definitely going there again to try the pandi curry and appam.

The cuisine is not my personal favorite, but Permit room is amazing.
The menu is unique, service is incredibly fast and the portions are massive and have some great accompaniments.
The servers are very efficient and are around however busy the place is.

It's definitely a place I would bring any non Bangalroean to, to experience the entirety of Permit room :)

The food and drinks are simply amazing! The pepper chicken is my favourite and the Pandi style pork ribs are so tender and well-cooked. The Donne Biryani is so subtle yet so flavorful.
