Review New Krishna Bhavan - Bengaluru

Aishwarya CPLN
This restaurant, established in 1954, offers a clean and simple ambiance. However, the food is truly outstanding. Each bite is a delightful experience, with flavors that are simply amazing. While it can get quite crowded at times, the wait is undoubtedly worth it. If you're seeking an authentic South Karnataka dish this is the place to be. We tried Masala dosa (10/10) green masala idly (10/10) Madurai podi idly (9/10) Gulab jamun (9/10) champakali (9/10) filter coffee (10/10)☕️ They welcome you with warm water I truly enjoyed every dish we tried, but if you're looking for the absolute best, I highly recommend the green masala idly and masala dosa. They are my all-time favorites, and you won't be disappointed. "Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope you found them helpful. It's important to keep in mind that these are my personal food preferences, and the food's flavor can vary from day to day, possibly even improving or changing over time."

The Iconic Veg Restaurant in Malleswaram which served it's Patrons for 69 years. Their signature dishes like Neer Dosa, Button Idli, Bonda Soup,Rava Dosa, Podi Idli, among the Best in Town. Can't forget to mention their Strong Filter Coffee. Exceptional service by the staff adds to the atmosphere. Sad to know they are closing down the existing place... Only Hoping to see it spring back in a new place and a New Avatar but with the same Dishes.

Good food and good taste. 70years old restaurant. Iconic Malleswaram eatery New Krishna Bhavan to close next week (6Dec of 2023) The very Famous “New Krishna Bhavan ನ್ಯೂ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಭವನ” Since 1954 Green masala dose Rave dose Onion dose Bonda soup Masala dose Yumm yummyyyy After nearly 70 years of serving affordable vegetarian fare from Karnataka’s South Kanara, New Krishna Bhavan will shut up. After nearly 70 years of serving affordable vegetarian fare from Karnataka’s South Kanara – from button idlis and dosas of every stripe to a jowar dosa named after Kannada writer V K Gokak – New Krishna Bhavan will down its shutters on December 5. The news has saddened long-time customers, many of whom took to social media to pay tribute. Very less parking space.

The last few days has been all about the shutting down of the iconic NKB, Malleshwaram. While we are all sad and upset with the shutting down of a legend, we should also ensure that no more icons go the NKB way... It's our duty to support them, help them sustain and flourish... Many never changed, till today sell the same good old dose... Have not added the pudi ammunition to their menu. One such good old eatery has been Namma Janata Hotel on Malleshwaram 8th cross. Quite the unsung hero, standing strong amidst a slew of newbies all around. The place goes about doling out it's usual dare since the past five decades or so, unfluttered by competition and the one saying " it isn't what it was" most of the times even without visiting the place. Janata hotel on 8th cross as it's famously known ( no need to mention Malleshwaram here as there's only one 8th cross in the whole wide world of a Bengalurian, and it's in Malleshwaram). Started with a gheelicicious kesari bath, the ghee was the binding agent here in this case and wasn't overflowing all over. Dotted by kismis was a perfect start. Then came in the idli vade dippu, we Bengalurians order dippu, as a time pass till the real hero the Dose arrives. The sambar was typical Bengaluru...had notes of sweetness to it, not too strong but beautifully subtle. Melt in the mouth idli and a crisp vade made it a perfect pair. Then came in the dose, the dish for which Janata is known for. Crisp, long, filling and a treat in itself. The palya too stood out. Sadly this dose never got the eyeballs it deserved. It's has a quintessential Bengaluru vibe. No pudi, no tuppa... One could relish the after taste of the mild sourness of the batter after a bite. Thats what makes a great dose. Ended it All with an ultra strofilter kaapi and then a mandatory stroll on the 8th main. A beautiful old world vive envelopes you, thru the meal. Not just the food, but the feel, the aroma and the vibes. Time for Bengaluru to relish, celebrate and retain many such institutions such as NKB, let's start with Janata... See you on 8th main.

Not a local Bangalorean, but my boyfriend had spent his time here as a kid and wanted to share this memory with me as this place is bound to shut down, soon. As I stood in the queue among others, on Sunday morning...was able to hear bits of stories of people sharing their profound memories here with the current generation.😁 Truly, amazed by the waiters ability to remember multiple people's food orders. Had an amazing time relishing, the Green Idli Masala, Rava Podi Dosa and cup of tea/coffee (served in white porcelain cups and saucers). Bidding adieu to this legendary place. Thank you, for your service 🙏

Visited this iconic restaurant with origins from my hometown for one last time before it closes forever. Had green masala idli and their other must try dishes. I wish and hope the promoters continue their culinary tradition for people at a new place in Bengaluru.

It's an iconic place to be since 1954, Very delicious neat n clean, One last visit been there with friends, because it's permanently closing on December 6 2023

It's one of iconic place which kindles my childhood memory. Hasn't changed much, feels stepping into past. The menu is slightly different. There are weekend special and special on each day also everyday specials. Really like neer dosa, button idli also other stuff. Must visit atleast once. I transact via cash though can pay through QR just to get old vibe

What a tasty food! Each dish is a delight to the soul. Green Masala Idli is a must try. Bit expensive but every penny worth the taste!

Visited this restaurant after 13 years and was surprised to find it essentially unchanged. The decor and ambiance hearken back to Bangalore from many decades ago and so does the warm and friendly service. (Prices are solidly from 2023 but one can't have everything). The restaurant is right opposite Mantri mall but since the main entrance is on the cross road, it is easy to miss it from the Sampige main road. The main hall is non-A/C flanked by a party hall and an A/C service hall (called 'Gopika') on either side. They heavily advertise their 'unusuals', which are special menu items, mostly derived from traditional Udupi cuisine, that are hard to find in other restaurants in Bangalore. Tried the 'green masala idlis', mini idlis that are fried and served in a spinach-based gravy, and I have to say that I'm won over. The masalas are reminiscent of Indo-Chinese dishes and coupled with humble idlis that transform into gourmet avatars when fried, this is definitely a must-try.

As this place closes forever today, dropping a farewell note. I wasn't a frequent or an attached visitor, but whenever I did visit, I always had great food. We came today to get the neer dosas one last time but unfortunately it was a tad late. Thanks for all the memories :)

This hotel is getting permanently closing on Dec 6th 2023. Old hotel in malleshwaram and they have AC, non AC service hall, function hall and lodges. They have their special menu for each day and weekends goes to their Obbatu (Holigae) oota. Few other menu items which are must have here kadabu idli, shavigae. Taste is good and cost is judiciously kept for the quantity and taste. Service is faster and they serve happily. Parking in the busy road is challenging for 4 wheelers. Make sure for lunch or dinner early visit is must to get all the menu items.
Jayant Kumar (JK)
The best breakfast place Malleswaram and surrounding, long menu with traditional taste, Neer Dosa and Green Idly awesome, and must try Saturday/Sunday's Holige Oota. Specious, nice service staffs, parking space may bother in peak days/time but very convenient for Namma Metro traveller, just opposite (2 mint walkable distance) to Sampige Road Metro Station.

Awesome food. Don’t miss podi button idly and coffee at the end.

This review is from Our visit in the last week of February. We were in the vicinity and opted the restaurant for lunch.

We tried Green Masala Idli, Masala Dosa, Neer Dosa, Akki Rotti and Dry Fruit Laddu.
Green Masala Idli stands out and I have never tried something like this. Now I know why My Wife is so fond of this dish.
The other dishes We tried were good too.
The different types of Chutneys at this restaurant deserves a mention and definitely worth trying.

Their menu proudly presents many dishes besides being healthy and otherwise cooked at home, but do not make their way to restaurant menus of their ilk.

This place is definitely worth a visit.

Offering delicious South Indian breakfast (also, all day) dishes since the 1950's, Krishna Bhavan has surely stood the test of time.

The pan-Karnataka options like the Neer Dosa (personal favourite), Ragi & Jowar Dosa and the Mysore Bonda are thoroughly lip-smacking!
The grated coconut and red chutney served with the Neer Dosa is on point!

The Green Masala idli served here is great too: one can taste the Chinese influence of spice in the masala served on the button idli.

The filter coffee served is decent, and the service is prompt. Definitely a must visit place in Bangalore!
Rajendran Ramadas
The place was good on a Sunday where in it was not busy as such.

Liked the thali meal. It is a one time go

A landmark in it's own right, NKB is a restaurant for everyone. It serves budget friendly meals which will keep you wanting for more and it doesn't shy away from the butter and ghee. A must visit place if you want the perfect South Indian paunch and leave satisfied with no regrets of not ordering a specific dish. Be ready to use your hand and fingers, this restaurant is desi to its core and for hardcore Kannadiga spinoffs on regular preparations which might screw around with your tastebuds and mind alike for a while ;)

New Krishna Bhavan is a one of a kind in Bangalore. Situated in one of the bylanes of Malleswaram, parking is available but may be difficult during weekends. But let it not deter you and do pay a visit. They serve some unique dishes and quite a few authentic ones of Karnataka.

The staff is friendly and service is quite quick for the crowd. All the items are available well past breakfast time too and so a late breakfast or brunch would be a good idea here.

We tried the Kotte kadubu, green masala idli and the mangalore buns. Quite unique and authentic dishes.

Rava dosa and masala dosa are also quite popular and good here.
Harinatarajan2005
An amazing outlet near Mantri mall, a must place for food lovers. The service and quality of food is amazing. Clean neat and tidy do go for Udupi Sevai, Rava Pongal, Kharabath and top it up with a sizzling filter coffee. You will not say to any items including the dosas. Go and try it out and you will not regret. May be waiting time during rush hours so be prepared and also sharing of the tables. All 5 stars for them, however if you don’t give tips even if u have tea only, then next time you go the service is pathetic and the show that the did not hear you. Bad point so deduct 4 stars
Ameet
Good ambiance, good food but can get too crowed at times which increases the waiting time after placing order. Green masala idli, akki roti, tomato dosa, rasam vada are few among many other unique items in this place. North Indian cuisine is also good and good quantity per serve.

We came to Mantri Square Mall and my cousin suggested this place as this place is historic and serves incredible food. I came thinking a old dingy place but I was surprised. The place was well maintained and place that served one of the best south Indian food I have tried. If you are in the locality or want good Karnataka food don't miss to come here.
Vinesh007007
This is one of the unique south Indian restaurant providing very unique and different and authentic south Indian food.

They have green masala Idli which is just like green idli Manchurian and one and only in Bangalore.

They had excellent need Dosa with perfect coconut sweet and spicy accomplishments.

Thier ragi rotti, Salem sambar Vada, mini idli are excellent and a must try.

They had very good Badam halwa and badam milk.

It's a family restaurant and having a ample seating capacity and party hall.
Kiran Ghadge
This is one of the iconic old restaurants of Bengaluru. They have some unusual items in the menu like Jowar dosa and Ragi idli, though their most famous dish is the Green masala idli. Also try their Neer dosa and Akki roti. Almost all dishes are delicious.
Sreema Shenoy
One of my favorite place in Malleshwaram for Green Masala Idly. They have varierty of South Indian Food like Ragi Dosa, Tomato Dosa, Neer Dosa, Onion Uttapam, Button Idly, Green Masala Idly, Masala Dosa. Manglore special Kotte, Madhurai Fried Idly. For traditional South indian you can visit NKB
Ishwarya
Krishna bhavan is my evertime favorite place for the best Mangalore dishes. They serve a very good plate meals in the afternoon and mangalore special especially in the evening. Their Madhurai fried idli is the best and Neer dosa, masala dosa and Idli are also equally good. Must try is Madhurai fried idli.

If you love traditional vegetarian south Indian food, then this place is heaven for you , it presents a huge variety of South Indian, North Indian , and Chinese delicacies. The main buzz is it's North and South Indian thalis, the sweets are delicious as well, the restaurant has two sections, ac and non ac, and price varies acc to the sections
Ambiance-7
Quality-9
Quantity-8
Price-8
Pro tip- South Indian thali, paneer tikka, Gobi Manchurian , burnt garlic noodles , go for it!
Tarun
Started up with aloo chilly and main course choosen was akki roti, rava masala dosa and neer dosa. All were ultimatum except neer dosa which i found pretty nominial. In the north section also they were having pretty good variety.
And prices for the place and food were superbly low.
Highly recommend.
Gautam Bhat
Was almost full when I entered. Ordered a plate of mini idly. Was slightly above average. No where close to the taste of the coastal districts. But definitely one of the best in Bangalore. Masala dosa was very good. Little crispy but that's how you get it in all restaurants.
Mrunal Shanbhag
This is one of the oldest restaurants in malleshwaram that serves mangalorean cuisine. Have been here a couple of times for breakfast and lunch.
On sundays they serve kotte, neer dose for breakfast.
Have tried benne dosa, kotte, neer dosa, mini idli, poori saagu.
Must try cashew masala for lunch.
Shubhangi Sreedhar
Worth a visit ! Got inspired from a trending video on Bengaluru ‘s eatery , tried the very next day ! Friendly staff , well maintained food quality with correct pricing new Krishna is right opposite to Mantri Square mall , so have ur tummy Nd shopping full over there :)

A must visit place in Bangalore! Must try the green idly. Also never tried idly coconut milk combination until I ordered kodabu n it was great! Also their neer dosa chutney is very good and love the coffee too. I also love going there because you can see that old bangalore life there, the people who come in, the regulars who meet up for their morning coffee+ paper, jogging groups etc all in beautiful Malleswaram in the midst of trees
Dhanashree Nagarkatte
A great legendary restaurant in quaint Malleshwaram. Known for its amazing and innovative South Indian food. However, what has begun to pain when you visit this restaurant in recent times? A young Ill-mannered and egoistic staff, who also lack the interest and enthusiasm to ensure customer comfort and efficient service, even if you are in a big group. Wrong orders, arguments with customers, overlooking customer requests and the list goes on.. It's time NKB (Gopika) fixes its errant staff to see that your regulars return again and again for more.

Ambience : clean.. little old school type
service : little late but ok not too bad
Food : must try is green masala idli, it tasted different. it doesn't look that appealing but it had a nice taste of palak.yummy it was. aloo manchurian, baby corn manchurian and all other food was also tasty.. badam halwa was too good must have item.

I visited this place for the first time yesterday and fell in love completely with it.
It's a paradise for South Indian food lovers. A short synopsis of what I had:
1. Vada sambar: Amazing sambar taste. Not too spicy not too khatta. The best part was that unlike a lot of other places where I have eaten vada sambar, they don't put ancillary vegetables in the sambar. It means you can enjoy the real sambar without pieces of brinjal, ocra or gourd in it!

2. Vada rassa: This was good too. However being a die hard sambar fan, I prefer vada sambar to vada rassa.

3. The open masala dosa: This was a surprise and a first try for me. I didn't like the carrot and coconut they serve on top of the dosa. But definitely enjoyed the concept of the masala bhaji and butter being placed on the dosa rather than inside it.

4. Button idlis: Another good dish, especially for all the idli lovers there. It is served with butter.

5. Filter coffee: A quintessential sounth indian drink. Can be enjoyed at smy time of the day/night. The taste at NKB is great too!!

A casual Sunday and plus Mother's Day. So to start our morning my mom and I went for breakfast here.
This place is another evergreen and one of a must visit in Malleshwaram. It's near Mantri mall.
A lot of varieties are there to serve you. I don't know about north indian cuisine but this is a definitely one of the best south indian cuisine restaurants in Bangalore.
Ambience is decent. It's pretty big, a lot of seatings are there. But usually in weekends it's crowded so try to catch your seat early.
Now coming to food-
We had Button Idli, Green Masala Idli, Jawar Dosa and Masala Dosa.
Button idli the quantity is correct. I liked the sambhar, it's sweet and perfect.
Green Masala Idli is my new favourite. It's so good. It taste's like a different kind of manchurian. Do try this! You would love it.
Both the dosa's were great. By this time we were full.
We ended our sweet time here with a tea. Do visit this place for a good treat. Quick service and Pocket- friendly too.

Love the old world charm! Spacious neat seating, courteous staff and great food! What more can you ask for. The rava dosa and bonda is excellent. We also tried bonda soup, upma and tomato omelette. They even have their own packed drinking water.

Got to try something nice and unique here when I visited last time.
The Green Masala Idli were small idlis sauteed in a palak puree and served with coconut chutney.
It tasted so delicious.
There are a little if restaurants in this locality, but this one is a must visit for sure.
Rating: 5/5

The rating is actually 3.5 .

Hey everyone , so recently I had been to Mantri Mall . Me and my friend decided to try this place which is very close to Mantri Mall.

Ambience : Simple,neat and clean.

Service : Usual,nothing extraordinary.

Food : Mainly we had gone there to taste the famous "Green Masala Idli", looking at all the reviews.Me and my friend ordered

Green Masala Idli : This dish tasted unique. I know it doesn't look that appealing to the eye but it had a nice taste.

Sambar vada : The make or break in this dish is the sambhar. Sadly for me the sambhar was not up to the mark. Overall it tasted Okayish.

Button idli : I have had better Button idli.

Coffee : It was good.

Verdict : If you are visiting Mantri Mall or any nearby area , you can try once and decide.

PS : The prices shown here are not correct. The real rates are cheaper. And the coffee doesn't cost you 50 Rs, it's actually half of that price :P

Evergreen place!

The famous green masala idli- you can’t get enough of it. Won’t get bored of it. It’s super tasty and speciality of this place. A must try!
Button idli is also good. Neer dosa is also different and could be tried.
One of the Best place to go for breakfast.

I found my new favourite eatery in Malleshwaram. New Krishna Bhavan it is!

After being a bit disappointed by a couple of ‘legendary’ places in this hood, I came to NKB with low expectations. And I was proved wrong!!

The food here is excellent. Consistency, flavour and choices are high, enough to please even picky eaters. Over a couple of visits, i had the Salem Vada Sambar. Spicy sambar and a nice Vada left me surprised, with the superb taste. Then there was the Puri with Kurma. The Puris were a bit oily, but the combo with kurma and chutney let me forgive it, no other place here has chutney this good. Soon came the Udupi Guliappas, served with chutney and an excellent PuliBajji. PuliBajji is a staple for Mangaloreans, made primarily with Tamarind, Ginger and other ingredients. This dish went very well with their excellent filter Coffee! The piece de resistance? NKB’s signature dish, the Idli Green Masala. Slightly fried mini Idlis mixed with a spinach and pepper gravy. If there’s one thing you have to try here, this is it!

Service is fast and friendly, and the prices are too. The ambiance is of a Bangalore eatery from long ago. Location is spot on, right opposite Mantri Mall. The next time you visit that mall, give the food court a miss and visit New Krishna Bhavan (which is actually over 4 decades old). I’m fast becoming a regular here!

NKB..the place to have probably the best south indian delicacies..we were hosted by the owner prabhu.. he is such a kind hearted person, always full of energy and always full of love for food.
We tried a number of dishes from the offering.
The dosas, upma, green idli, need dosa along with jaggery and coconut mixture were the highlights...
Not to forget thier awesome filter coffee..it was the best south indian spread that I had ever came across... Highly recommend to each and everyone...
Thanks Miltonian Prabhu for being such a lovely host!!!
Ananya
Been wanting to try this place for years. Really glad that I finally visited NKB.

Unique food that you can’t get everywhere. Specialities known in Mangalore/ Udupi are available here. I’m a fan of their green masala idlis.
Prerit Pincha
Not a great place to start your day. Taste not up to mark after being a legendary outlet doesn't match up to its legacy I'd rate it lesser than 1 star food sucks
Abhi
Excellent food quality and taste. Finest filter coffee. Sambhar taste was great must have, As well as great service too. For great authentic taste of south India highly recommended as New Krishna Bhavan Malleshwaram.

Thanks zomato for this recommendation, the choice of going to new Krishna Bhavan didn’t go wrong , everything is nice here , we came at 11am for breakfast and there was lot of people around us eating breakfast and sipping the awesome filter coffee

This is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Malleshwaram. The location is perfect, it is situated right after Mantri Mall on the right hand side. So when you enter inside the restaurant it gives you fair enough vibe of a typical South Indian restaurant. Talking about the food, I had placed an order for Masala Dosa and Tea and it tasted good. Overall it was a good experience.

Ambiance: 4/5
Quality:5/5
Staff:3/5
Price:4/5
You are hungry, you are tired, you don't value money or you have lumps of amounts to spend recklessly then this is the place for you. overhyped and overpriced for a staff which works for tips regardless of the quality of food that they serve you.
When you are in Malleshwaram explore a little and you will find better places which offer you good food for a good price. If you can AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.
Arjuna Adiga
Authentic pocket friendly south Indian restaurant in malleshwaram opposite to mantri mall. Their specialities include open butter masala dosa, green masala idlis, button idlis, neer dose, jolad rotti etc.,
RK ART
One of the good restaurant in Malleswaram near Mantri Square Mall, ambience and maintenance is good. Had been there for evening snacks, attractive dish on everyones table was green masala idli, we too ordered same. No masala can hide the idli flavour, but palak masala was complementing it. Taste was really good. Other item was neer dose with coconut and jaggery mixture was really awesome. Happy for visiting this restaurant.

One of the best restaurants serving authentic Karnataka dishes. There is no items from this place which I don't like. So that sums it up for me. It also the record of being zero waste restaurant.
If you are looking for an authentic Karnataka dishes, this is the must go place.
This hotel proves Bangalore also has places which serves sweetless sambar 😛
AMAZING PLACE, MUST TRY!!
Pavithra.parthiban
Its been one of my earliest and oldest relishes here. Has got a bit of my childhood memories eating here with my grandpa with just a masaldosa and jamoon.but now im amazed knowing all the various dishes and the way it stands out with an ethical taste. Today adding more to surprise comes sweet corn panneer soup, and tastes amazing with all the starch and calories though. Its sweet corn soup without vegetables and just panneer cubes. Wooo super excited exploring this dish.

Exquisite taste, the food are tasty and hygienic... No lack of variety, worth the money!! One small nitpick is the place closes down early and the certain foods are not available during the late hours!!
Overall a good place to try out tasty food and wake up the foodie in you...
Anirudh Patil

Humble ambience with amazing tasty food. Loved it through and through. So it is one of the oldest outlets in Bangalore. And some variations are specifically available here.

Well this is place is very old one and it’s just in front of mantri mall.
I feel this is place is underrated. Food options are great here and place is clean. They maintain hygiene.
One must try green masala idly. It’s innovative and so delicious 😋
I loved ragi dose, akki roti and paddu here. I recommend these to all to try once specially who have tried only idly and dose for South Indian food 😊
Service is great.
Overall good place and good food 😊

Ambience - 3.5/5 Food - 5/5 Service 4/5 VFM - 5/5 Parking - None

We’d gone for an early morning walk to Sankey Tank, and were feeling quite hungry. Chose this place for a hearty breakfast based on the multiple good recos we got from friends. And we were not a tad disappointed. It’s one of the legacy restaurants or ‘Darshinis’ with its friendly and informal ambience intact. Service was quick.
We ordered Button Idli, Green Masala Idli and Kotte Kodubu. Topped it with Coffee.
Of special mention is the Green Masala Idli. It was the small button idlis soaked in a spicy green masala. Very unique and tasty twist to regular idlis. Loved it!
Kotte Kodubis is Idli steamed in jackfruit leaves giving it a unique flavour. This one was done well and I liked the aromatic taste.
We wanted to try their Ghee holige but it was sadly not available at that time.
Nonetheless, left the place extremely satisfied and eager to visit again, maybe for dinner this time.

Update May 2019: Went there again and ordered the same dishes, and also Neer dosa, poori bhaji and Mangalore buns. The taste and quality are still awesome. Green Masala idli remains their must try dish.

Neer dosa was served with coconut milk, a sweet coconut and aval side and red chutney, Mangalore style. Really enjoyed this combination as most other places simply give sambar and coconut chutney.
Mangalore buns were sweetish as they should be, and the distinct taste of bananas shone through.
Upgrading the rating to 5 Stars!

It's a perfect place to relish south indian delicacies 🤗.It is next to sampige road, Malleswaram.
✴️Their open benne masala dosa is something to die for.It was fluffy , crispy and couldn't taste any better with that chutni pudi.😋
✴️ Never forget to end a meal there with their strong and refreshing filter coffee☕
Taste-4/5
Ambience-3/5
Service-3/5
Sachi Is Veggie

This place is a landmark on Sampige road, known for it's udupi cuisine. Always bustling with crowd there is never a time when you can walk in and find a table immediately. Even though they have renovated this place many a times it still has the old charms. Nothing much to write about the ambience as all y.one can see in people eating or waiting (lol!). Even though the place doesn't look very hygienic, or trendy I have seen video and read articles about this hotel on how they manage their wastes and it is commendable!!
Have visited here many a times for lunch or snacks but this review is based on our visit at 4pm on a Saturday evening. The waiters need to be called a couple of times to attend to you. The menu are displayed in many places near the kitchen, a card on the table and even on a display board. A lot of udupi dishes such as buns, neer dose, golibaje, bonda soup are seen. They have button idli, ragi dosas and Idlis, rava pongal, 2-3 varieties of upmas. Interesting menu indeed. I saw many people having variety of Indian sweets like Gulab jamun, Champakali, Rasgulla and badam halwa. I must try them the next time I come here.
Other this you get the regular North Indian curries, rotis, indo-chinese stuff too. The thalis are extremely famous too.
Well we ordered a bonda soup which was hot and spicy. Neer dose served with khara chutney and sweet coconut. The neer dose was thin and soft perfectly made. We also had butter masala dose and open butter masala dose. Both were yummy, I can still smell the butter on my hand as I'm typing this review!! Never forget to end your meal with their filter coffee it is strong hot and refreshing. Overall a very decent place to relish these delicacies. The prices are very affordable, our bill came up to Rs 330.

An South Canara restaurant which has apart from traditional South Indian breakfast serves Green Idli/ne’er Dose/button Idli/Holige..Taste is great

An old world, simple, hotel that serves local cuisine. For us Bangaloreans this place does remind you of the old days. It is basic restaurant, which is relatively neat and clean. Yes, foreigners may venture here to taste local south indian delicacies just avoid the water.
I recommend:
South Indian snacks - any of them
South Indian meals : fresh and tasty veggies and delectable sambar (close to home-made)
Ragi meals (an acquired taste and go early to eat your mudde hot)

The rating is for the overall experience, honest food, and the value for money.

Kudos to the management’s efforts made to completely eliminate plastic ! Today we took a parcel of Akki Rotti from here after a scrumptious breakfast ! Was pleasantly surprised to see the rottis packed in cardboard box (akin to the cake box ) and small pieces of banana leaf holding two delicious chutneys inside. Neat packing and totally eco friendly!

It's an old hotel with a heritage look and architecture which is located in Malleshwara. I especially like south Canara food they serve. I had kotte idly which was delicious.
Vinay Nagaraju (WOMP: Whats On My Plate)
Me and other fellow food bloggers had been here .. It was very nice time to hangout with foodies and have breakfast together. We ordered masala Dose ,idly , button idly, Kesari bath and shallow fried button idly with Chinese flavour called Green Idly! One must try this without forget ..
and the love for filter Coffee is always there ❤️
Check out the line ordered in the picture of filter Coffee.. that’s good and satisfying :)

Go to place in Malleswaram ..
Unique green masala idly and podi idly is just amazing. Also love neer dose here and badam halwa here be the best and it's an order by default whenever I'm here.
Ashish R
We had breakfast here. We had the famous palak idli. We also had neer dose. Very tasty. We will visit again. Located opposite to Mantri Mall in Malleshwaram.
Kanishq "food Is Not Less Than Breath"
It's a unique place with classic ambience but fusion of food items. Dosa prepared with different types of millets and grains are worth try. They have some special items on their menu. A regular breakfast point for people have appreciable taste buds.
Food:4/5
Ambience:4/5
Service:4/5

As a part of bengaluru breakfast walk, a bunch of foodies went to check out this amazing place. We were 30 of us and we swormed here at 8am on a Saturday.

Ambience is like any other south Indian darshini with seating capacity of more than 60. Tried almost all their signature dishes.

Button idlis- button idlis dipped in sambar and topped with butter was tasty and lipsmacking. We couldn't get enough of it.

Vade- They dip the crispy vade in sambar and they sprinkle chutney pudi on top which give an extra zing to the taste.

Green idli- Sounds different right? Yes it's a unique one. They shallow fry the button idlis and pour chinese spinach sauce on top. The idli is crispy and the sauce was actually salty. They can reduce the salt content in the sauce. Must try dish in NKB.

Kesribath- Authentic home made kesribath without any saffron added to it. I loved it.

Masala dose- It was good. The palya was not up to the mark. Dose was crispy and tasty. Chutney was spicy and yum.

Coffee- Another highlight of this place. Coffee was authentic filter coffee which was so refreshing.

One must definitely try this place if you are in malleshwaram. It's located just opposite mantri mall.

Krishna Bhavan is not like what it was before the taste has drastically dropped the sambar is good but the idly isn’t their Khara bath and Kesri bath are just about fine the puri is bad and the masala idly is tasteless the green idly is okok.
Naman Raikar (Bangalorefoodbomb)
So it happend us to visit this place after a long back of 1 year. As though nothing changed but quite few new breakfast options have been added.
This place is usually crowded and in weekends quite good number of people come here to have breakfast..

We group of people joined here for breakfast
And the service was not up to the mark especially when it gets crowded. They need take care of this and improve on their service as its bit slow.

We decided to order few things
1) Button idli
2) Green Idli
3) Vada dip
4) kharabath
5) kesaribath
6) open dose

I only liked button idli and kharabath. Over all an average experience
Yallappa Kuntennavar
Pathetic and arrogant staff and management. Does not care for customer won’t listen completely what customers are ordering. While still ordering they leave your table and if asked, behave arrogantly.

Its a very old hotel.Have been visiting from long time. Earlier used to like the food here. But today was really disappointed. Idly Dosa were sour... and dint like the much hyped Green idly too...Even Sambhar was not tasty..
Keshava Alur
Too crowded on weekends and on public holidays. Famous for it's coastal Karnataka veh dishes also Ragi based food such as Does, Mudde and Semai.
The meal isn't worth the money. The button Idly, Green Masala Idlys tasted good. I was surprised that the rava dosa wasn't pale yellow in color unlike other South Indian restaurants. Chutney was a bit spicy. Overall a good experience. But, you'll have to find a place to dine on your own.
Suman Rangnath
Was looking for places that serve Green masala Idly and found this place. This is a very renowned hotel in the town. The Green masala idly was delicious and didn't disappoint at all, I ate 2 plates of this dish- 5:5
Button idly sambar- The small button idlis are dipped with rich South indian masala flavored sambar with some butter on top - 4/5

Went here on a Sunday morning. Not too much of a rush. Brilliant options for a South Indian breakfast. Must try button idlis. Good service. Recommend a visit.

One of the iconic restaurants of Namma Bangaluru in Malleshwaram very close to Mantri Mall. The place is ideal for south Indian food and you will find all special food which you won't find in any other hotels.

Try out Ragi Dosa, Neer Dosa, Button Idli, Mangalore Bun, Vada Rasam, Akki Roti, Coffee and varities of sweets for dessert.

The place will be always crowded but it's worth waiting as the food is mouth watering. And I highly recommend this place for anyone who likes to have good food.
Ramazah Razvi
This was a place I have heard very good about from many people. Finally one day I had a chance to dine from here. I loved their butter nan and paneer curry which I tried. It was very delicious. Unfortunately I had the chance to go here only once. So I couldn't try their other dishes. I am sure they would be excellent too.
Srikanth Tirumalai
Absolute treat is this place for south indian tiffins and meals :)
Anyone shopping on Malleswaram must stop over for lunch here. Bon Appetit!
B.P.S
One of the iconic restaurants in Bangalore and nowadays well appreciated for their zero waste activity, this place is ideal for south Indian food around the very busy mantri square mall. My personal favorite is their signature green masala idli.
SUMANTH M
Deeply disappointed with the service at this place(AC service hall). First they didn't serve us water even after 10mins and later the service was extremely bad . I raised an issue with the Manager Mr.Devendra who instead of serving better argued with me. I walked out of the restaurant. ..went to a better place in the same locality. Will never again visit this restaurant and wouldn't recommend anyone to.
Rohit Gujral
Very bad experience ,,had come with my family but the service was extremely slow, no one came to serve water, we had starters and wanted to order main course but no one was coming andwhen we asked about this to the manager (Mr Devendra) then he started arguing instead of apologising, Mr Devendra is the worst serving manager
Raj
Had been to this place soo many times , it's just opp to sampige theatre in Malleswaram. this place has got bit of old Bangalore charm. Food is good u get diff variety foods at diff times. like ragi dosas or button idlis and evenings ull have a diff menu.
Taste 4/5
ambience 4/5
service 4/5
value for money 3.8/5 (70 for a masala dosa)
U gotta try this place for a good old Bangalore masala dosas and the button idlils .
VISHAL VASHIST
Tried our lunch today, Food is decent in taste as well as the ambience, has table service which is quite quick as compared to other restaurants, ample variety of south indian cuisines are available with some special varities as well though they do not provide any menu to refer to.. as a whole good experience
Sriharikrishna Madhukar
Located right opposite Mantri mall, this is sort of a legacy outlet, serving people some good South Indian delicacies since decades. Entering the place gives you an old Bangalore feel with old fashioned tables and the waiters uniform.

Coming to the subject of food, neer dose and badam halwa are the best they serve. I have also tried green masala idly and button idlies and they are good. Ragi dosa was above average.

Whenever you are near mantri mall consider visiting this place just for neer dose and badam halwa.

Cash and cards are accepted. Seating available.
Nitish Badami K
One of the oldest restaurants in the area which serves both South Indian and northern Indian food. The baby corn manchurian is best for starters while kaju masala is the best main course option. The NKB unusuals are the most attractive offering in this hotel. The likes of Kottekadabu, neer dose, stuffed idly and green masala idly are out of the world dishes. This hotel is best suited for all times of a day. Badam halwa is the best desert which has retained it's taste over decades.
Sj
The best South Indian breakfast place. My all time favorite 'button sambar idly', 'vada and green masala idly'. Breakfast lovers should try here.

The only drawback is to find seats as the place is crowded most of the times.
Jyothsna Rao
really disappointed with the services, though the food is tasty,no one cares to attend customers,if you question ,we know what will happen in restaurants.pathetic services in the AC counter
Ashish1995
The restaurant stays at a busy place of the city and is always rush at lunch hours. The schewan paneer steals your mouth and the roti, kulchas were good too with a combination of paneer gravies which were fine too,the paneer was soft but a bit tastier dish was expected. Veg fried rice had a different taste with a bitterness from cucumbers but the veg biriyani with the dal served ended the meal quite well

Food is not good!!!! Bad experience!!! Bad masala dosa!! Bad vada!! Bad chatni and sambar!!! Never come here!! Price is also too much!! Regret coming here!!!😤
Nitesh Manjunathachar
One of the oldest hotels in bangalore. South Indian and North Indian cuisine food available. We are a 4 ppl gang and we always visit this place for lunch during office hours. Taste is good. Service is quick. Recommended for an occasional visit.
Girlnextdoor Girlnextdoor
We have dined here often, and haven't ever been disappointed. The mix of South Indian and North Indian dishes here suits us just fine.

On our most recent visit, we tried out the Sweet Corn Soup, which was light and delicious. It was very well made. The Gobi Manchurian that we opted for, for starters, was just as beautiful. We also ordered Green Salad, which was decent, nothing out of the ordinary.

For main course, the husband had rotis and Green Peas Masala, both of which were good. I had Dal Khichdi with Pineapple Raita, and it was soul-soothing, simple yet hearty.

Prices here are at par with Adigas and other slightly higher-end restaurants in the area. Service is almost always quick, the staff polite.

There are a decent number of seats available, but the place tends to get very crowded, especially over the weekend. If you plan to visit, do try to get in before the lunch or dinner rush begins.
Manu
AVOID THIS OVERRATED RESTURANT!!
Most third class Customer Service given. No one attends to you at the table even if you sit since 30 minutes! Staff don't have any training as to how to be courteous. Regret coming here.
Sam77
Foods are good and prices are also comparatively high.over Crowded through out the day and less waiters to serve.Lot of areas of improvement needed.Resturant management is not much concerned about service .

This is my go-to place for some good old Indian comfort food. We visit this place for the Saturday Breakfast after a refreshing morning walk around Sankey Tank. It's the perfect way to build an appetite and then some guilt free gorging. The food in this place never disappoints. The service is quick and pleasant.

The place has undergone a much needed renovation recently, which makes it all the more inviting.

They serve a lesser known dish named "GREEN MASALA IDLI". This is the best variant of idli that I have ever tasted!

They also serve the BEST COFFEE in the city.

Thumbs Up all the Way!
Vaibhav Shrivastava
Loved the Akki Roti (Must try) & The Filter Coffee is perfect. They have maintained the traditional look and feel of the outlet, which gives a different feeling. Staffs are well mannered and professional. They sell sweets also, which looked fresh.
Ds.preeti
Mouth watering dosa and holige we get here. You can try all types of dosa here and I am sure you will be definitely satisfied no doubt in that. The best South Indian tiffin we get here. Price is light on the pocket and service and staff are good. Ambiance is good for family and friends
