Review Edo - Japanese Restaurant And Bar - Bengaluru

Meghana Srinivas
This was a great experience, we ordered the Honshu and Kyushu nonveg sets and the food was excellent. Good quantities too. However the cutlery they gave us was smelling bad. I guess they wiped it with an old or stinky towel. I managed during the main course; during the dessert, I asked for a new spoon. It still smelled bad but not as intensely. Please fix your cutlery cleaning process so we don’t have this issue! Would love to return and try more of their dishes.

Probably the best place in town for Japanese authenticity. Appreciate the effort by the chef to cook us an off the menu dish. Also a special mention to the waiting staff Swathi.. who was well attentive and made it an enjoyable dinner experience.

A Stellar Japanese Culinary Journey at Edo, ITC Gardenia Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of visiting ITC Gardenia's Japanese restaurant on a serene weekday night, and I must say, the experience left an indelible mark on my taste buds and heart. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by Roopa, who gracefully led us to our table and introduced us to the delightful menu. The array of choices was impressive, and we decided to indulge in some classic Japanese dishes. We ordered Sushi, Miso Soup, Udon Noodles, Yatsai Fry, and Japanese Cake. The dishes were not only exquisitely presented but also bursting with authentic flavors that transported us straight to Japan. It was evident that every dish was cooked to perfection using fresh ingredients, making the entire dining experience truly remarkable. Biswajit, the talented chef at ITC Gardenia, made our visit even more memorable. He graciously took the time to greet us personally and shared his passion for crafting authentic Japanese cuisine. We were fortunate to witness his expertise and dedication first-hand as he prepared our meal. Biswajit went above and beyond his duty, making sure we felt at home and well-informed about the dishes we were about to savor. Notably, the Sushi Bar was a sight to behold. Biswajit proudly showcased the fresh and vibrant ingredients used in the preparation of their sushi, leaving us in awe of the artistry involved in this culinary craft. The restaurant's ambiance was soothing, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The cleanliness and hygiene standards were commendable, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to providing a safe and pleasant environment for their guests. In conclusion, our visit to ITC Gardenia's Japanese restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. The delightful dishes, expertly prepared by Biswajit, combined with the warm hospitality extended by Roopa and the entire staff, made it a truly unforgettable evening. If you are a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine or looking to embark on a culinary journey that will delight your senses, ITC Gardenia's Japanese restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all food enthusiasts, and I am already looking forward to returning for another exceptional dining experience.

I can't think of anything that was short of excellent. The food was brilliant, the ambience was lovely (even the music was appropriate and at a discreet volume - class!), we were served by a lady (I think her name was Rupa) whose service was out of this world. The Set Menu was also a great idea. A wonderful, slow, luxurious Saturday lunch. Thank you, Edo
Bhavana Jayanth
Had one veg and one non veg set menu. Everything was delectable with amazing ingredients treated well. Stand outs were the sushi (with fresh wasabi), spinach in seasame sauce and prawns. We will definitely be coming back. Service was great and we appreciated the chef explaining all the dishes. Mostly empty on a Sunday afternoon and the ambience was very pleasant.

Easily the best place to enjoy some authentic Japanese food. Everything was fresh and delicious. The cook Amit prepared one of the most members meals for us. The staff, Rupa and Swati, also took great care of us and attended to all our requests. Would highly recommend the place to anyone looking for the best Japanese food in the city.

Everything about this place speaks of sophistication and delicacy. I love Japanese cuisine and always wanted to try this place out ever since I came to Bangalore, which I finally did, and I am so glad I did. The waiters were polite, the ambience was mellow (just the way I like it😌) and needles to say, the food was exquisite. One of the waiters also helped us selecting a white wine, which paired so well with the food and didn't overpower the taste buds. I had a wonderful time there and would definitely love to visit soon.

Just loved this place. It was a Sophisticated, fine dining experience worth spending on. Every dish was just unique and tasty. I would highly recommend this place.<br/>They also surprised me with a delicious birthday cake 😊😊

Tried their ramen and sushi. Both were incredible. Will go back for their tasting menu or the Sunday brunch. Relaxed atmosphere, great service and good food (pricey as expected in a 5 star but don’t really mind)

Excellent food..... and the staff were delightful. The ambience was also absolutely lovely. Would recommend this place to everyone...........

This is a pricey, classy place that you should come for special occasions and big celebration. The prices are high but so is the service. And they have different set menu options that let you choose a nice selection of the best they have to offer. The service is as you'd expect at a 5* deluxe hotel.

Had no idea about japanese food. Thanks to the crew for recommending the right combinations for a well spent evening.<br/>P.S. Heavy on the wallet if someone expects it to be cheap 😉

If there was a phrase for lost my heart to sushi, then it would have been my first line here...<br/>From Sushi with prawn, prawn tempura and salmon.<br/>I loved it all.<br/>The Soba noodles take your heart and taste buds to another level of happiness and joy!<br/>I look forward to more sushi treats at Edo<br/>Cheers<br/>PMThefoodie<br/>

The food is good, the portion sizes are decent, but the ambience and decor leave much to be desired. Hardly the fine dining experience that one is paying for.

The best Japanese in town!<br/>Went for dinner with family on a Monday. Booked on call and table was ready on arrival.<br/>A little tired after work, started off with some black coffee. <br/><br/>The clean, minimal environment of the restaurant highlights its stress of flavors and service. As for the opulence, we get enough within the hotel before entering Edo!<br/><br/>Were all in the mood of sushi that night. Had a word with chief chef Benjamin, explained our dietary preferences and left it to him to feed us. He was upto the task!<br/>Platters of rolls kept rolling by, in variety of flavors.<br/><br/>The younger kid in our party wanted some noodles towards the end.  She loved it. I took a bite and thought that they were among the best I tasted.<br/><br/>Ended with some green tea cookies, macaroons and green tea chocolates.  Simply amazing.<br/><br/>Service: The idea of perfect service is that someone is always available when you need them otherwise you are on your own. I do not know how they do it but ITC restaurants have this common thread always. Big thank you to the team at Edo.<br/><br/>Will go there again soon as have some craving for the stuff served by the chef. I hope he will oblige!

May be the best Japanese in Bangalore. Try all their Sashimis which are delicious. Food, service and ambiance of the restaurant is an experience that I remember for a long time.

What can I say! Just had an amazing experience here.<br/><br/>Had been here for dinner and the staff very helpful and the person who attended us Mr. Jack always had smile on his face when interacting with us.<br/><br/>We had ordered the Salmon Sashimi, Scallop Sashimi and The yellow Tail snapper Sashimi. All of them were extremely fresh and good. We then ordered the Asparagus and cheese maki roll and soft shell crab uramaki. Both tasted excellent!!! Would definitely recommend to try both the maki rolls.<br/><br/>Will definitely go back here to try their other dishes !

Edo is a must go place for anybody that loves Japanese cuisine! The sushi is super fresh and delicious and the chicken and lamb teriyaki are out of this world. The staff and chefs are very friendly and the ambience is nice as well. It is definitely worth the price.

Sushi sushi and sushi !!! amazing sushi, and desserts to die for . I loved the crispy california Uramaki and the chocolate mousse. As Japanese as it can get in Bangalore a must try for all the Sushi fans. Of course a place to go for a fine dining experience. Great ambience and fantastic food.

EDO at ITC Hotel,Bangalore :<br/>Ever have that sushi hunger pangs in a city where you aint sure about the authenticity of the japanese cuisine !<br/>Be rest assured because Edo does total justice to it!<br/>i absolutey had a divine experience at Edo and their service was top notch too!<br/>we loved binging on the:<br/>1.crispy california Uramaki <br/>2.Robotayaki ( grilled veggies)<br/>3.Yasai Yaki mesh (garlic fried rice)

Great food and great hospitality. We ordered the Edo Special Samurai Uramaki which had 8 pieces of delicious sushi. <br/><br/>Post that we ordered Kinoki Donburi for mains, which was served with a bowl of flavourful miso soup. The flavours of mushroom, butter, garlic with the sticky rice was amaze.<br/><br/>For desserts we got a wee bit greedy and ordered two of them - Miso Semifreddo and the Madagascar Chocolate Mouse. Both were good but the Chocolate mousse was really yummy. Overall, a great place if you’re craving some good Japanese food.

Fried dim sum with fruit sauce at Edo- Japanese restaurant a part of ITC Gardenia! <br/>Amazing experience and excellent food. Ofcourse we required some help from the staff there to choose our dishes to avoid ordering something raw ! A must try ! .

An amazing authentic Japanese experience- everything about the place works! Beautiful minimalist interiors, buzzing live kitchen vibes,an extensive menu with a decent vegetarian spread and great service! The sushis were incredible as was the robotayaki! So flavourful yet subtle! The chocolate dessert was absolutely amazing! A must visit for those who love Japanese!

This restaurant serves possibly the best Japanese food in Bangalore. Simply sublime, and fresh......feels like you just had a dish on the streets of Tokyo. The grilled Eel with rice was especially unique, and made the taste buds very, very happy. The rest of the food- udon, nigiri etc., were outstanding as well. A must try if you like Japanese food, and happen to visit Bangalore.
Varsha Vasudevan
As you can see from the smile on his face, the food here is outstanding. I’ve been to Japan before and I can honestly say the food at Edo emulates the original cuisine extremely well. While the flavours have been tweaked ever so slightly to suit the Indian palate, the authenticity is hard to come by in most other restaurants. No pictures of the food however because we were too busy eating it! 🙈<br/>The staff is extremely courteous and make you feel like you’re the only one in the restaurant being served (can’t help it when you have a table with impolite people sitting next to you but the staff tried their best to make everyone else’s experience at the restaurant comfortable). When we went for his birthday they made it a point to make us feel special, which was an amazing touch. <br/>The decor of the restaurant is minimal and that’s how Japanese people generally like to keep their restaurants because the importance is on the food. Being situated in a 5 Star luxury hotel in the heart of Bangalore, it’s no surprise that the food here will be on the expensive side but you know what? Sometimes you just have to dress up in your best outfit and splurge a little to make yourself feel like a queen/king. This was also a surprise birthday treat for bae and the look on his face as he savoured each bite of frankly what is both of our favourite cuisine of food made paying that bill at the end completely worth it.<br/>If you’re a lover of all things Japan or haven’t tried it and want to experiment, I definitely shout out my recommendation for you to go and try out Edo!<br/>Flavour - 10/10<br/>Freshness - 9/10<br/>Time taken from order placement to being in my mouth - 9/10<br/>Value for money - 10/10<br/>

It is a pretty quite and calm place for a date. I tried the kyoto tasting menu. The chef explained the dishes which needed explaination. that was a nice gesture. I am not a fan of raw fish but the tuna and salmon I had very tasting fresh and did not smell a bit. It is damn close to an authentic japanese cuisine. The hightlight of the set menu was the black sesame ice cream. Also a must try is the signature garden cocktail. The main course could have been amplified. Reduced a star because of those things plus I was lookimg forward for the matcha tea ritual since I am a huge fan of it . They were out of it. So they offered some hot pot tea which was pleasant but nothing compared to matcha.

I went to Edo on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. The atmosphere of the place was excellent and so was the food. The staff was courteous and quickly made arrangements for our request to dine outside the restaurant. <br/><br/>The food was very aesthetically arranged. The only problem in the layout of the food was that it had to be picked with the chopsticks and there are many people including me who are not so comfortable using the chopsticks. My advice to the management would be to use some other cutlery as well so as to make it comfortable for the people not so comfortable with chopsticks.<br/><br/>The buffet is beyond amazing and you can make use of the other restaurant, Pavilion as well. The spread of deserts at Pavilion was really really good but somehow the deserts did not turn up to be living up to the expectations.<br/><br/>Overall, a really good place to have Japanese cuisine and would definitely recommend others to try it. It is steep, no doubt, but then it is worth it.

The experience was extraordinary.<br/>Decor is mildly intimidating with satisfying spectrum of flavours.<br/><br/>Decor/Ambience: 4<br/>Food: 5<br/>Service: 4<br/><br/>The brand justify the experience, would recommend to try.

sushi is not bad, but so so.. I expect more from Japanese restaurant at luxury hotel. I think I can get more better sushi taste at small store like sakae than here.

Amazing Authentic Japanese Food. Crispy sushi and black sesame icecream are simply out of the world. Fresh wasabi root was amazing. Quick service and courteous staff. Will visit again.

The most amazing thing about the Japanese other than their culture is undoubtedly their food.....The myriad and meticulous preparations are bound to leave you spell-bound...<br/><br/>"Edo" at The ITC Gardenia is my most favourite place to dine in the city and I can vouch for the authenticity of the Japanese food here.....hands down the best Japanese food in the country!<br/><br/>On a Sunday you can choose a delectable buffet that serves sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, robatayaki, tempura, rice/noodle donburi and a few Japanese desserts. You can have a buffet with or without drinks....The best part however is that you can eat food from two restaurants as a part of this Sunday brunch....The desserts at the other restaurant (Cubbon Pavillion) are almost always more interesting...You can try the a la carte menu too...<br/><br/>We chose to sit outdoors and enjoyed a gregarious meal with loads of conversation and it went on for over three hours (you know when Bae lives in another city and there's so much to talk 😊)<br/><br/>So for all of you smitten by Japanese food and looking for an awesome place to hang out and have a beautiful time, Edo is the place!

Edo has been on my list for a while and I am glad I finally got to try this place at ITC Gardenia after visiting Mumbai's Pan Asian at ITC Maratha. The salmon sushi was served just right and the veg bento box was worth the trip. However, the California rolls were a disappointment and so was the strawberry and raspberry ice cream. Om Prakash was kind enough to replace it with the black sesame ice cream which was delicious. Overall the food is good and worth every penny being a fine dine restaurant. The service is prompt too and I would particularly like to thank Om Prakash and his team for the special attention.

It's an experience rather than a dinner night. Had ordered the following <br/>Kani Salad - crab<br/>Shake usuzukiri - salmon<br/>Ebi tempura uramaki- prawn<br/>Tori katsu don- chicken egg<br/>Great food, great ambience. Staff were great.

It's a hotel so the ambiance is lovely. The service is perfect. The food is delicious. My birthday dinner was amazing. The sashimi and sushi were fresh and yum. My daughter and I enjoyed devouring the same. The raw baby octopus was yummy but I preferred if it wasn't marinated in wasabi sauce or perhaps there was another way to have the dish? Not sure. Rest of the food was good and the chocolate cake they gave me was also very tasty.

The food is just amazing here. One of the best sushi restaurants in bangalore. I've Always had a really nice time here on the whole. Food. Ambience. Staff. It's the pricing is good for the quality of food this place offers. Do visit <br/>Omprakash and Jay are very kind and helpful.

Amazing fine dining Japanese restaurant. Ordered the Spicy Tina Roll and Dynamite Uramki to start off. Very delicate flavours. We paired it with a cold Sake that crept up on us slowly and nicely. The pork in the Buta Shogayaki was full of flavour and quite filling with the steamed rice they served. We ended the meal with their Chocolate Mousse served alongside Exotic Japanese Jelly. It was just the right amount of sweet. There service was impeccable. Always available but non intrusive. Waiting till I go back.

A must try even for the hard core carnivore ( like me ) . A fantabulous experience on the palette . Par excellence the Temple food menu . <br/>Of course we know all the reason s why Edo is the best Japanese restaurant in town . Expensive but worth a treat on that special occasion .

The photos speak for themselves but here's a short review anyway.<br/><br/>While everything is impeccable, I would say the highlight is the raw fish used for the different types of sushi. It's hard to believe it's fish, in fact it's hard to describe it in words. It's almost indescribable and succulently delicious. One of the specialities is that the fish is flown straight from Japan and is never fully frozen even once.<br/><br/>The salmon is particular is especially buttery and creamy, as are the different cuts of Tuna. I would suggest sticking to these two kinds of fish if you want to play it safe with sushi. There's also Hamachi, prawn, cuttlefish, snapper, and others to get adventurous (pictured).<br/><br/>In terms of Maki (sushi rolls), I'd recommend the rainbow roll, and dynamite rolls (pictured). While they aren't exactly traditional, they're super tasty to both a seasoned and first time sushi eater.<br/><br/>The rice is carefully mixed with just the right ingredients so as to have the right texture and not overpower the fish.<br/><br/>For people hardcore into fish, the best way to experience it is the Sashimi. The servings are so thick and generous, that you can barely fold the fish to dip it in the soy!<br/><br/>While the raw fish is the star, the fried (robotoyaki) dishes and other cooked dishes are also very tasty and juicy. The one pictured is the Buta (pork) robotoyaki.<br/><br/>The desserts are also inventive and unique, and have never disappointed.<br/><br/>The Ambiance is spacious and relaxing, the food is impeccably prepared, and the chefs and waitstaff are courteous and will go to special lengths to accomates needs and requests of the customers.<br/><br/>It's very hard or the pocket, but it's something you must do at least once if there's an opportunity.<br/><br/>If you have the budget, I would suggest contacting the restaurant beforehand, and fixing a date and time for "Omakase", where he chef decides each course and the bill is decided at the end. This may come up to as much as 9k for two people but it's a real experience.<br/><br/>Vegetarians need to bear in mind that there will not be too many options for them, and most of the veg options are not authentically Japanese, since the Japanese traditionally have a meat-centeic diet. So the veg food while still very tasty is not something you'd find in Japan.<br/><br/>
Pooja Kadambi
My family and I put ourselves in the Chefs care and had one of the best meals. I don't even remember what all we had and some were not even on the menu.<br/><br/>There was yellowtail, snapper, tuna and salmon as sashimi, rolls and salad. There was a crazy skewered appetizer with a special seaweed crisp minced tuna and raddish. On the veg front a divine avocado half with an Asian style guac and tempura topping, veg avocado and pickle roll. A 3 seaweed salad, tofu grilled with a soy based sauce so good you could cry, and tempura battered vegetables. Sadly there was no blackened pork left so the meat eaters had to settle for bass but it was still very well done.<br/><br/>For dessert along with green tea a sour passion fruit and sweet guava sorbet.<br/><br/>The chef personally saw to us. If not for the confusion and delay around the bill as well as annoying repetitive music it would have been a perfect evening. Not knowing prices upfront for this kind of evening could be disconcerting for some but it was worth every penny. Thy do have a set price menu and al a carte options as well. <br/><br/>Food 4.5/5, service 3.5/5 ambiance 4/5 price 4/5<br/><br/>
Umesh Parikh
Lovely place, great food. Much better than spending equal amount at wannabe places like Teppan etc.<br/><br/>Sushi was amazing, very good tempura, also some great grilled stuff.<br/><br/>Went with a large group, staff is very hospitable.<br/><br/>They should use better quality chop sticks.
Sunny Singh
The 4+ rating is well deserved. Sushi was awesome. Ordered a roll and sashimi - both great. Only slight issue was that the wasabi did not mix/melt into the soy sauce easily. If that little thing worked, I would have rated it a little higher. Service was great.
Vinu
The sunday brunch here is quite a treat. The rates are at par with Leela / Ritz etc. but if you want to indulge in  a Japanese buffet this is the ultimate place. A wide range of sushi's , sashimi,  salad's and live grills. And your buffet includes visit to the next room restaurants too(I forgot the name) in the ITC Gardenia, so if you are not a lover of Japanese food you have other options. They have sake and exclusive japanese drinks but they are costly and not part of the buffet but worth a try if you want to indulge without limits. The ambience is good, service is responsive and the spread is excellent. I would love to visit with my family again. It was a great time !

Having heard about this restaurant for a few months now my sister and I decided to have my birthday dinner at Edo and I keep telling her (Even after 2 weeks of dining) that this is by far one of the best dining experiences I've had - EVER<br/><br/>Everyone knows that Japanese cuisine is an art and Chef Joshi is an extremely great artist. <br/><br/>From the time we entered (around 2045) we were taken care by the staff as though we were part of their family who spent more than adequate time to help us understand / recommend the dishes that we may enjoy. Being allergic to shell fish it was important for me to express my concern with respect to the details of my allergy, this concern was addressed personally by Chef Joshi who spent quality time with us explaining what he was going to prepare and his assurance ensured there was no reason for me to worry on the orders. <br/><br/>Fine Dining for me is an experience that is a combination of food, ambience and the staff when the Chef himself decides to check on you time and again to ensure our comfort this speaks volumes about the greatness of this Restaurant.<br/><br/>Thank you Team Edo and Team ITC for creating good memories, looking forward on being with you again.

Absolutely horrible food! Your stomach feels sick after eating and so does your wallet. Unfortunately ended up here with my fiancé for Valentine's Day and the quality of the food was horrendous. Will not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away!

Asian Food, Authentic Japanese, Bangalore, Edo, Foodlove, ITC Gardenia, Japanese Food, Responsible Luxury, Restaurant, Review. A visit to Edo was long due for, and a meet up hosted at ITC Gardenia by Simonti made this happen. One not so lazy Saturday afternoon saw a bunch of us to experience their newly launched Corporate Luncheon. While Edo is known for its spectacular and authentic Japanese experience, this work lunch is a way to savor authentic Japanese delicacies served either from a set menu or an a-la carte offering in a speedy meal. No one said working lunches need to be boring, right?! Edo is inspired by the ancient name of the city Tokyo, here Japanese food isn’t just about sushis, or tempuras. It is about an experience that spans from the time you walk in, to every dish meticulously handcrafted and rituals adapted from the traditional meals. Thus the Edo Sashimi Platter, the Robatayaki experience are highly recommended here.

Luncheon @ Edo<br/><br/>Edo, the Japanese bespoke restaurant at the ITC Gardenia needs no introduction. Now, it is open also for Luncheon with Ala Carte and Table D’hote menus to choose from. As part of their latest offering, Obento- a very traditional Japanese set of courses neatly arranged on a tray has been introduced with options for both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian choices. I was part of the first set of food enthusiasts invited to try out this one-of-a-kind experience at the epitome of contemporary Japanese cuisine in the heart of the city.<br/><br/>Chef Kamlesh Joshi introduced to us the concept of the Obento, and how the courses are enjoyed in succession. This was followed by the Sake Bomb and we were expected to gulp it down in one-go, something almost next to impossible for me.

When I hear the word, 'authentic Japanese', I become doubtful because making claims is easy; meeting expectation is harder. However, the same could not be said about this place. In my pursuit to try authentic Japanese cuisine in Bangalore, I ended up here. Edo is based on the 17th century style of Japanese cuisine.<br/><br/>For a start, the Zen interior along with the classical music added to the serene ambiance in the restaurant. Special care was taken by the attendant to suggest some of the best dishes to try such as sushi; grilled fish; freshly squeezed juice and Goma Mochi (which, by the way, was on the house - thank you chef!). I can hardly remember the names since it has been a month that I visited this place but all I remember that when I ate the food, I could easily compare it with the best Japanese food I have had in 3 countries so that was satisfying. <br/><br/>I will make it a point to visit this place at least once when I am in Bangalore. The location is a problem for me, but, for a nice meal, I think I could endure it.

I visited Edo to celebrate my husband's birthday. Totally loved their sushis and sashimis platters. Main course was good too. We had teriyaki chicken. The staff explained the dishes very well too and were sweet enough to get a cake on the house. Expensive but good experience overall.
Praveen Kumar Samantaray
We had been here for our anniversary and I doubt any anniversary dinner would better this. We went for a seven course meal. Chef Mr. Kamlesh Joshi made sure every dish was perfect. The presentation of the dishes were amazing. With every course, Chef explained what it was which made the dinner experience even better. To top it off, he presented us with a beautiful truffle cake for our anniversary.<br/><br/>To anyone dying to get a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine, Edo should be at the top of your list.

Having travelled the world, although not a connoisseur of Japanese food, I happened to frequent a few Japanese restaurants in Paris and elsewhere! Pity they weren't zomato compatible, for me to review the rich experiences..Having said that, i was at Edo a year ago wherin my exposure was shortlived and couldn't indulge leisurely..so I thought it didn't warrant a review from my side. Well, this time around it was a deliberate attempt to indulge myself at this super cool gourmet restaurant and is a privilege to write about! What can I say, as most Japanese high end eateries, the interior design was minimalistic yet classy, wood and straight lines everywhere and had a sophisticated air about itself. The finesse with respect to service was quite evident from the moment one entered the place. The Usual single malt (japanese) was followed by fine miso marinated black cod (my favourite) which adorned my table. Quite indeed, the sablefish was fantastic! just the right amount of miso marination and subtle sweetness which made it a noteworthy experience! It was infact suggested by Chirag, who was really informative regarding the cuisine. He was entusiastic in terms of attending to the guests and also had a vast knowledge of scotch whiskey..Pricing, as one expects, is rather high for those wanting quality japanese fare and there's no doubt with respect to that..I rate this restaurant top notch in terms of everything!

Quite surprised to see Edo so highly rated, when it offers very little by way of food. We chose Edo over the usual [Teppan or Harima] for dinner last night and arrived at 9pm to find the restaurant practically empty playing the classic oldies! <br/><br/>For a Japanese restaurant in a 5-star hotel, you might expect the menu to have variety, but the menu lacks creativity and features the usual fare - rolls, sashimi, noodles, stir fry dishes and grill. Ordered the following:<br/>- sashimi platter<br/>fish was at room temperature and sliced rather thick, instead of the typical 1/4 in thickness and slightly chilled, and the octopus was clearly not fresh. ginger was sour and had gone off - it's embarrassing that the sushi chef would even consider sending it to the table, but he was bored and spent the majority of his time on the phone <br/>- unagi nigiri <br/>not fresh, no dab of wasabi on the rice, ugh. <br/>- veg robata platter <br/>tastiest thing I ate all night, mushrooms and eggplant were nicely done albiet a bit too much teriyaki sauce <br/>-  buta stirfry<br/>undercooked and cold <br/>- buta w/aspragus <br/>tasty and cooked perfectly <br/>- a few beers <br/>yum! asahi super dry for the win! <br/><br/>Edo - you do a major disservice to the most simple and traditional Japanese dishes. 10K for what should be a 'nice' meal out, simply isn't. <br/> <br/>The saving grace of this restaurant are it's service staff - warm, friendly and a delight.

Food is great with nice ambience. They will right away offer you the private room if it's a big group. All in all it was something new for me but i would like to come back for the same.

Every time the Live music faded to change tracks, you immediately heard the unmistakable sweet sound of the silverware clacking against the plates- a bunch of happy patrons eating their hearts out!! The food at the Sunday brunch was delicious and spread was astonishing!! From Sushi, Sashimi, Oysters, delectable tiger shrimps, a live Chat stall, a live Barbecue serving the full range off meats and Kababs, a live Tempura stand- all this was just the appetisers. They had an extensive Salad bar, shooters, and soups. Main course was again expansive- spread between Indian (South and North), Chinese, Japanese, Italian and I even found a nicely done Moroccan Lamb Tagine with CousCous and then to top it off a satisfying desert range from French Pistachio Creme Brûlée, to a South Indian Jangaree, a perfectly sweet Firnee, more cakes and pastries.... And an Italian Espresso to top it all off. <br/>Overall just loved the open ambiance, the music and the service that was spot on. We spent a good 3 hours eating!!! The only point that prevents me from giving them a 5 rating is the price. It was 2500+Taxes per person (not including alcohol), so a bit steep but worth every bit!!!

More than happy that edo turned out to be my first Japanese food experience. The food was brilliant and also the service. <br/>A must try when you're in Bangalore. Sushi was excellent, and waiters willing to help you make your (very difficult) decision on what to order. Delicious! The teriyaki chicken was excellent. The ambiance and decor are beautiful. Overall, a great experience.

Amazing sushi highly recommended, clean ambiance and I should say one of the best sushis in Bangalore the freshness of the fish and the sushi rice with that hint of rice vinegar completed each other a lot.

Excellent food, authentic decor but lacks ambience. Sushi lovers, do go there, have your meal and head out elsewhere for a drink. Chefs are nice enough to head to your table if you request special items.

Japanese is a cuisine that appeals to me to a greater extent. The food is all fresh and cleanses your palette and pampers your taste buds with something different but comforting.<br/>Had been to this place recently on the occasion of Jamai Shoshti....as my mom was not around to pamper her son in law with all the delicacies on the special day ;).<br/>We had a hard time locating the restaurant as there are a few of them in ITC gardenia. Nevertheless, we entered the place and were received warmly. There were only 2 tables occupied other than ours....the place however was comparatively small than what I had expected.<br/>The interiors were good enough and the staff was very courteous...<br/>We opted for buffet without alcohol which included the entire Japanese menu in Edo as well as the multicuisine menu in pavillion...which is the next restaurant besides Edo.<br/>The problem however was that we had to go to the other one and get the food to try the multicuisine menu...which was a little uncomfortable.<br/>The menu in Edo included a wide range of Japanese delicacies...ranging from sushi to tempura to other varieties. As the sushi dint have any description in there about the contents...we had to inky pinky ponky through them and choose. <br/>We then asked the chef for some help regarding the tempura options...on which he readily explained every one of them.<br/>The disappointment was the tamago...which was not upto my expectation....I hav had the most wonderful one in Teppan and this couldn't even come near to that.<br/><br/>We did go to the other restaurant and got the food from there....the spread was so large that we couldn't even go through the options properly....the food at this restaurant was comparatively better in taste than Edo. <br/> Frankly the food experience with Edo was slightly disappointing.<br/><br/>Nevertheless...it was a nice experience overall....

Visited Edo for Brunch Buffet on Sunday. ITC offers many different restaurant so you need to find out where you wanna go and Edo is at the very end. We were comfortably provided the tables and also the staff suggested few items and got it prepared at the live counter. At Edo you will get a decent number of Sushi which you can try along with a live counter and few other stuffs. Tried almost everything and all was good but I was kind of expecting a bit more in terms of items apart from Sushi, and in terms of taste as honestly I had better Japanese food than this.<br/>But yeah, if you are going for Brunch Buffet on Sunday then you can even have food from Cubbon Pavilion (Next restaurant serving Continental Buffet), it was kind of weird actually as you have to step out of Edo, get the food from Cubbon Pavilion and come back. One cannot do like this multiple times, so you have to get whatever you want at one go.<br/>As per me I liked the food of Cubbon Pavilion more than Edo and they had wide varieties as well ranging from salads, main course, live counter and number of desserts.<br/>I think if I would visit next then will visit Cubbon Pavilion only. <br/><br/>So, here goes the rating for Buffet Brunch @ Edo<br/><br/>Food@Edo - 3.5/5<br/>Food@Cubbon Pavilion - 4.5/5<br/>Service - 4.5/5<br/>Ambiance - 4/5<br/><br/>I hope ala'carte menu would be much better than Buffet at Edo

The food was just amazing and kept getting better and better. We went ahead with the Tokyo- Set menu. Everything we had on this menu was just smashing!  The whole experience was brilliant and pampering. Anyone who wants a true and exquisite Japanese food experience must visit here atleast once. The dessert was sour cherry ice cream, which was unique and delicious.

A few Japanese visitors in town wanted drove us to this place at ITC Gardenia. Given, we had the Japanese we just let them order the course for us. <br/>Verdict of Japanese Visitors : very close to the food they have back home. <br/>Verdict by us: didn't know Japanese food could be this delicious....maybe we had company of people who knew what goes with what.....<br/><br/>Entire experience was very good....

Could you please update the price list in the menu. I have no idea why it is missing. Would it mean that it is the restaurant for the people who really dont care the money :). Hope to see the updated menu soon

Amazing food that is prepared exceptionally well with top notch ingredients. I ordered the 8-course Set Menu - Tokyo and every one of the item served in that elaborate dinner was simply mind blowing. This is truly one of the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. The chef was friendly and explained nicely how they prepared every dish they served and what ingredients went into it.

I went here for my mother's birthday and having tried Harima already, I was aware of the high standards this place needed to achieve. The food was exquisite! Promptly delivered and freshly made, everything was up to the mark and perfection! <br/><br/>The sushi was wonderful and the menu had indicated which seafood was over caught and which seafood was safe to eat because there was abundant resources to catch. <br/><br/>The Robatayaki was cooked to perfection and for main course we selected the Clay Pot with noodles and miso soup. A traditional Japanese dish which was full of flavours (might be bland for certain people who love their spice) but delicious nonetheless! A dessert of sesame ice cream and a palette cleanser of sake and mint lime bubbles rounded off the meal perfectly. <br/><br/>The ambience was wonderful and the chef came to greet us personally and proceeded to greet all the other customers there. A must for people who love and value Japanese cuisine and aren't afraid to splurge on a night out. <br/><br/>Word of warning - They only have dinner service during the week and weekends have lunch and brunch on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Amazing experience at Edo last night. Chef Kamlesh's creations were nothing short of spectacular. The attention to detail in presentation and delivery was first class. The encore of young yellowtail and fried rice combination was just the perfect finish to a great sushi experience. Will definitely be back.

Well we chose this place to celebrate my 30th bday ( yes, I have officially turned 30!!) . We could not have picked a better place than Edo! The food was just amazing and kept getting better and better. We went ahead with the Tokyo- Set menu. Everything we had on this menu was just smashing! The diverse flavour of the sauce coupled with well seasoned and cooked fish and meat. What stood out for me was the starters which included a variety of sea food such as crab meat and squids!! Then came the grilled fish - the black cord! The flavour was just amazing - that was the best thing on the menu here!!!<br/>The sushi and sashimi- was too good as well!<br/>The team @ Edo was just amazing - they were very helpful and guided us every step of the way by recommending the right drinks and explaining each element of the food.<br/><br/>I would recommend all Japanese food lovers to definitely give this place a shot!

Actual rating : 3.2<br/>Ambiance is nice but nothing different. A typical posh style in 5 star hotel. I would have loved something special and different by great designers! ;)<br/>I am veg, so reviews based on that. I just tried two items. Uramaki perhaps, it was suggested by staff. It was different but didn't make my pallets go crazy! Lol.<br/>Sticky rice I ordered was like any other garlic rice I can get in Thai outlet(more or less). <br/>In such hotels, normally price to portion size ratio is higher, which I have never liked much anyways. Staff is trained and cordial. I liked that. <br/>Maybe I need to develop more taste for Japanese before I go back to please my taste buds again but not sooner m sure!

My husband and I visited Edo on my birthday for the set menu meal. My husband opted for the Tokyo, while I opted for the Kyoto. <br/><br/>The meal was fantastic!!!! Chef Joshi was so Attentive and the meal was prepared with utmost care to our preferences. <br/><br/>We will definitely go back!

Being a luxury dining option, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of service and food provided. The ambience is brilliant, but the service was not worthy of a 5-star tag. The starters were really delicious but the main course was not at all good. The place is pretty expensive for the quality offered.

For Japenese food lovers 'Edo is a must try. Although it's a bit over the top pricing, I must say it's worth every penny..<br/>Thank you Edo for the lovely experience.

Loved the ambiance and the service. Very knowledgeable wait staff, engaged chef. Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and would return despite the stiff price tag.

Our visit to Edo last evening as a big swing from initial plan of Royal Afghan...and other than a few types of Sushi that I enjoyed in the past, my knowledge of Japanese food was not that much. <br/><br/>Visit to the restaurant was a great delight. Simple interiors...bright wood and a corner table as we had 2 young diners as well. Food - lip smacking! Amongst the 4 of us, we polished 5 portions of Sushi and then just clay pot for mains. <br/><br/>Highlight of the evening was personalised attention by Kamlesh Joshi the chef who visited us multiple times and made sure he checks for our preference and then ordered the stuff that we simply relished. Young diners were accommodated by him and his attitude and food selection made the difference. <br/><br/>Desserts especially the semifroddo were good but lacked the punch. <br/><br/>Pictures and dish names...for the next visit. Keep up the good work.

For just the food I would give a 10 out of 5 rating.... It was absolutely divine!!<br/>But unfortunately I was quite put off by the decor and ambience... Very Very mediocre... Somehow the acoustics were bad too. The ambient noise was too much... I'm being picky because this is a fine dining restaurant...<br/>But the actual food is top class. We ordered the California rolls and a prawn tempura sushi (sadly can't recall the name) for starters. We ordered the Ninniku yasai yaki meshi (the fried rice) and Kohitsuji teriyaki (lamb) . .. All the dishes were exquisite and our compliments to Chef Kamlesh who was ever so happy to explain the nuances of japanese cuisine... Loved his enthusiasm and passion!<br/>Our evening ended with a complimentary sinful chocolate cake for my husband's bday!<br/>Overall very happy  :)

Chef Kamlesh Joshi is not a Chef. He is an artist, who understands individual tastes and makes recommendations. I thought of eating from this place with some trepidation -- but I don't regret one bit. Ordered a salad of crab meat and Cod -- both recommended by Chef Joshi. Delightful!

Tried authentic Japanese cuisine for the first time, the place has a beautiful ambience and good variety for both veg and non veg. Ordered the combo box, which consists of soup, starter, main course and desert. The flat noodles and sushi were really tasty. The Japanese style of food is not very spicy and constitute of lesser ingredients but are very pleasing for your taste buds. The dessert was sour cherry ice cream, which was unique and delicious.

Had a great dining experience in Edo, as it was our first time trying Japanese Cuisine. A must try when you're in Bangalore. Sushi was excellent, and waiters willing to help you make your (very difficult) decision on what to order. Delicious! The teriyaki chicken was excellent. The ambiance and decor are beautiful. Overall, a great experience.

Definitely the finest Japanese restaurant in this part of the world..<br/>Go for their multicourse set menu and you will remember the experience for the rest of your life. <br/>The chef is usually very helpful. The ambiance and hospitality is exquisite. <br/>I have dined there twice. It is pretty expensive at about a 4 k per head <br/><br/>

The best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in the city. Try their Bento box, it's got an interesting mix of items - quality is top of the line. Being in a 5 start property it goes without saying it is expensive, but definitely worth a visit!

The Chain Dinner last Wednesday was outstanding . Chef Nakomoro & Joshi keep it up. Jap food at its best . <br/><br/>Edo has always been a leader in top quality ingredients & produce the serve at the table. <br/><br/>The new chef is a must try.

I went to try some authentic Japanese food during my trip to Bangalore.<br/><br/>I have tried Japanese cuisine almost everywhere in the world. However,I was amazed by the comprehensive menu and as well as the service of the restaurant in general.<br/><br/>Very well managed staff and awesome authentic Sushi.<br/><br/>I would recommend everyone who is in search of good Japanese food, Edo is the place to go for.<br/><br/>I will definitely return to Edo during my next visit.

Very refined, elevated Japanese cuisine. Very courteous and knowledgeable waiters who will walk you through a menu of fulfilling choices. The set menu 'Nara' is fantastic - very satisfying 8 or so courses. All plates are beautifully presented and very delicious. Dessert strikes a perfect balance between simple and indulgent. Highly recommended!

I have been to EDO few times before. I wanted to try EDO this time since I heard that the chef has been changed. We went for a Sunday brunch.  We enjoyed the brunch so much. We could eat many kinds of Japanese food at EDO as well as foods at Cubbon Pavilion. It was a nice surprise. It's a bit costly, but I'd like to go back for a Sunday brunch again.

EDO is a very special place. THIS IS A SUPER 5 FOR SURE!!! <br/><br/>It has taken me a while to write about this place. I wanted to make sure that I did justice to this space and mainly to the people behind EDO who make it such a wonderful experience.<br/><br/>Today I get the chance to write about my lust for Sushi. I am famously known to as a serious pescetarian amongst all my family and friends. <br/><br/>My love for Sushi is also the reason why my husband marks most special occasions with Sushi. <br/><br/>It was a special evening - our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Whilst I love to go to new places and explore - there are some spaces that keep calling out to you.<br/><br/>So, I went like - "Edo..... really...... AGAIN!!! YIPPPEEE!!!…"<br/><br/>The second time in EDO was even better than the first one. This time I was more comfortable as I do take time to settle into new spaces. I walked in feeling so much more at home and was very happy to see the same smiling faces as the last time. We settled in a cozy corner and the restaurant was filled with a buzz. I spotted the wonderful Chef Joshi doing his rounds, flashing his warm smile, ensuring that everyone was taken care of. <br/><br/>This time we had decided that we would have a dedicated Sushi evening.  <br/><br/>We started with SWEET SHRIMP SASHIMI. The Shrimp was the softest and sweetest I have every known and smelt and tasted so wonderfully fresh. The shrimp simply melted in my mouth, leaving a sea flavor in the mouth which tasted very refreshingly stimulating. <br/><br/>It is unbelievable considering we are talking of food and most people I know keep discussing how essential it is to maintain variety, fusion in flavors and invention to make food more interesting. <br/><br/>But "less is more" and Japanese cuisine can most wonderfully highlight this fact. The Wasabi and Soya is simply amazing with this Sashimi. The sweet with the pungent and the salt is simply heaven when it all silkily melts even before one can anticipate it and is left begging for more.<br/><br/>Then came the GRILLED EEL NIGIRI SUSHI. I have actually never had Eel before and was wanting to see what an Eel would taste like. <br/><br/>Anand has had Eel in Hong Kong and he was very apprehensive after what he had experienced and said that he was not keen. I was curious and considering that it was grilled I thought why not and to be honest, I quite liked it but then again that may be because of the way it was served. <br/><br/>Anand had found the eel too overpowering and considering that the blend here with the rice stack and the slight addition of the sea weed with a piece of grilled fish seemed perfectly ok. But I guess that if I really have to give a clear opinion about the taste of the eel then I must order for a fillet of eel and that may help me be more clear about the texture and the flavors, here I already have a style of eating which I love which is the Nigiri with the tiny stack of beautifully light rice topped with an tiny slice of fish and the wonderfully pickled ginger, wasabi and soya on the side. So I shall hold my not so certain theories at bay for now. <br/><br/>The SCALLOP NIGIRI SUSHI - Anand and I enjoyed the scallops as we already have an inclination for scallops considering we have devoured a load of scallops in Glasgow. Some foods and flavors that helped us feel at home in another country are a more than welcome flavor at home in our very own Bengaluru. Scallops as we know them to be were juicy, filled with a mellow sea song that is delish and amazingly light.  <br/><br/>The ORIGINAL JAPANESE KING CRAB CLAW SUSHI - Now this one was suggested by our server and he mentioned that this would be a taste of the authentic Japanese crab.  The Japanese Crab is definitely more chunkier and the claw meat was firm and did not just disintegrate but had a full - bodied flavor. I wondered what it would be like to eat this really fresh like just of the boat on the shores of Japan considering that crab is more scrumptious really really fresh. <br/><br/>The Salmon, tuna, crab within the Maki Cucumber rolls - Now, this one was a surprise, i thought I had asked for the salmon with the skin in cucumber rolls and i did not think that this salmon had any skin at all. I know that many people do not like the skin but I am a Mangalorean Pescetarian Shetty who has grown up eating the fish with its skin at all times and I think that people who do not eat the skin are seriously missing out on so many flavors and will never know what a fish actually must, should and will taste like. <br/><br/>Either I read it wrong or my waiter got it wrong but anyways, flavor wise I missed the skin completely which I was looking forward to but nonetheless again this is a appetizingly fresh Maki roll. The cucumber replacing the rice is actually very nice as it is crunchy and adds another dimension to the concept of Maki rolls.  The cucumber contrasts against the creamy, delicate and silky textures of salmon, tuna and crab wrapped carefully within the cucumber peel. While it was not what I had expected, I must still say that it was a very interesting Sushi and I very much enjoyed it. The varied textures within my mouth just exploded with a crunchy, watery exterior which aids in assimilating the complex and distinctively superior flavors coming together as a topical singular flavor. <br/><br/>The GRILLED SOFT SHELLED CRAB Maki Rolls with flying fish roe - Now this one was the Piece De Resistance for me. I love my crabs and I have never eaten something so wonderful. Actually I had never eaten any Maki rolls before with a soft shelled crab that was again conflicting in textures and and wrapped with delicate rice and topped with flying fish roe. This was the best Sushi of the evening for me - it combined all the flavors that I absolutely love. <br/><br/>The final dish was Fillets of Salmon grilled in teriyaki sauce - we had exhibited serious gluttony with the sushi fare and so settled for a main that we both would share. I asked for a simply grilled salmon in teriyaki sauce - now though I don't really prefer it my choices are limited considering that I am lactose intolerant and butter cannot be use to grill or braise the fish. Well, either way I have learnt that EDO can give me a well cooked salmon and that was the longing at that time. We would have loved to try some fried rice but there was no space so that is for another time at EDO. <br/><br/>We both split the one plate and were happy about the fish.<br/><br/>Lastly but never the least, it was a perfect meal and a more perfect space to be in which was made even better by Chef Kamlesh who came by with a wonderful cake for the both of us to mark the special moment. I have known of Chef Kamlesh as a very warm, generous and one of the topmost nurturing hosts I have ever come across. <br/><br/>I felt joyous that I could essentially fill my heart and stomach with my most favorite cuisine while I chatted with my wonderful man and we spent a very long time drifting away from almost everything. Cuisine wise, to be honest I have always considered Japanese cuisine as very similar to our Sattvic Indian cuisine which implores one to find moderation in flavors,  perfection in cooking processes and find harmonical quantities which must create absolute balance within the body, mind and soul. Hopefully, this review may help many attempt Sushis and Sashimis. <br/><br/>THANK YOU EDO and CHEF KAMLESH for such a wonderful experience and making my special day such a perfectly special one. :-)

After a very very long time , I experienced what can be called exceptional service. The Edo visit cannot be put down in words, it has to be felt to be understood. But i'll try my best to capture it here. It was an official dinner visit, with me and 2 of my colleagues. The Chef, Mr. Kamlesh was very generous to suggest the Kayaki Menu to us - It consists of a lavish 7 course spread. Yes, a 7 course meal is a privilege in today's day and we were more than eager to get started. <br/><br/>The evening started with a bang; we were brought a drink called the suchu bomb; it consists of a glass of very light beer on which a shot of vodka is balanced with chop sticks. A small ritual is performed where the diners along with the waiters count to 3 in Japanese and bang hard on the table; as soon as the vodka shot falls into the beer we're supposed to gulp it down :D yes, it was super fun!<br/><br/>As it was my first time trying Japanese Cuisine, Mr. Kamplesh was very courteous in explaining each dish and its relevance as they were served to us. I don't remember the exact Japanese names of the dishes; but here goes what it contained : We were brought a platter of appetisers consisting of tuna stomach with fish roe, a chicken dumpling and scallops served on a bed of fine crisp Japanese onions.<br/><br/>The next course was an assortment of Sushi and Sachimi; that's fish rolled with rice and leafy vegetabes and finely cut raw fish. They are supposed to be had with soy sauce and Wasabi paste, it's important to have the sushi and sashimi with the sauces as it truly brings out the various flavours of the fish. I have to mention here that while I was lucky to find the Sushi that suited my palate; it is an acquired taste for people with developed taste buds<br/><br/>We were then brought a plate of giant prawn and fish tampura, very light and crisp. I can easily say this was the first time I had a fried dish without feeling like I was filled to the brim - this was served with vegetable sauce, soy sauce and a type of chilli flakes. <br/><br/>Next came the chicken skewers and Black cod fish - this I gobbled up as it tasted something similar to the Indian fish fry, however, with a tang of sweetness. After this we were brought a bowl of vegetable fried rice accompanied with miso soup; extremely flavourful sticky rice with finely chopped Japanese veggies and a clear soup; very unlike the Chinese counterpart that we're so used to. <br/><br/>Finally, an assortment of desserts - a Japanese tea based tiramisu, a very light chocolate mousse, light lemon cheesecake and a scoop of strawberry icecream. <br/><br/>Writing this review is only making me want to head out for another visit to Edo, Although, it sounds like a very elaborate dinner, we were feeling quite light after the dinner - not something you expect after a seven course meal - but I guess that's the speciality of Japanese Cuisine. <br/><br/>Again, I would like to mention Mr. Kamplesh's hospitality and the overall service at Edo. Do visit, It's the place you have to be to, to experience an extra ordinary special night; truly it's a night that's etched in my memory for life!

Edo, a superb place to dine. Superb ambience and the food is mind blowing. This place is a "CLASS" apart. Whether in a group, or just 2 dining, it's a must visit place. The restaurant is also in a centrally located hotel. Staff is very courteous.

If you can leave inhibitions behind and not expect food to be indianised, edo will not disappoint. Really good sushi and delicious tempura. I personally would recommend this place as a must go for Japanese food. Edo is the service of the friendly young staff which makes you feel like eating and having a merry time at home. Highly recommended. Go guys, enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Edo....all I can say is,"arigato". Yes,I mean it from the bottom of my heart. By far,the best Japanese food we've had till date! We've been to several Japanese restaurants and as a result we are very well versed with the menu (in general) and we knew what to order. Right from the starters till the dessert....it was flawless. We ordered the mini platter which contains maki rolls and nigiri sushi. It was picture perfect. Initially,we were a bit skeptical about the nigiri sushi coz it is supposed to be very raw and our previous experience with the nigiri sushi in another restaurant wasn't pleasing. But this one was spot on. I think, the salmon, basa and the red snapper were boiled and didn't taste raw at all! The Maki rolls were outstanding. Every foodie would love and appreciate a dish which makes it fulfilling in every bite! The Maki rolls did exactly the same. We also ordered our favorite, the agedashi tofu and it certainly didn't disappoint. In the mains,we ordered the yaki udon and yaki meshi. The combination of rice, prawn, fried eggs and chicken was splendid. The head chef visited our table and asked how the food was. And during that conversation,a deja vu moment happened. My friend mentioned that she is from the Philippines and surprise surprise....the master chef for sushi in Edo is from the Philippines too!! (I did see that coming) :P<br/>And thanks to the conversation that followed, the chef was kind enough to serve us a complimentary item. Apparently,it's their signature maki roll. It's called the naruto or narato maki roll(pardon me for the spelling). It was simply FANTASTIC. So picturesque, insanely delicious and has such a compact yet rich look! The precision involved in it was so evident. Unlike traditional sushi,it wasn't wrapped around with rice. Instead, the chef used Dutch cucumbers to wrap the contents inside. And speaking of the contents....OH MY GOD. avocado, meat, fish and what not. I could clearly differentiate the taste of each and every item inside with every bite!! We even order martinis. To complete this dream dinner, their house special chocolate cake which is served for special occasions ONLY was a bomb! (now don't ask what that special occasion was). The rich ambiance, superb staff service, customer feedback, aristocracy and brand value was bang on. This is what separates the five stars from the rest. All in all,Edo was an experience which we've missed for a long time! It is worth every single penny and I would love to come here over and over again. Happiness is,when nothing goes wrong in a dream date. Once again, thank you Edo. For this once,I shall leave my food criticism at the doorstep. Anything below 5 is blasphemy.

We Just got Sushi-fied!!<br/><br/>Japanese Cuisine is not a cup of tea for everyone. But at Edo, these people have got it Bang On.. This is the Best Japanese food I have ever had. Nigiri, Maki, Uramaki, sushi roll...you name it, they have it. We also got a chance to taste some of the chef's special and signature sushi rolls. A must mention is the sushi roll made of the belly of the tuna rolled with seaweed and topped with crab meat thread. And did I forget the ebi tempura! With all these delicacies on offer, we couldn't make it till the main course! The desserts were tantalizing, and we did dig into the chestnut and cinnamon creme brulee (the best in town) and the utterly delicious tiramisu... Don't mistake it for a regular coffe tiramisu, this one's made of green tea... B-) Our experience was made more special by the prompt service of the staff and the attention lavished on us by Mr Kamlesh Joshi, the master chef at Edo. Awesome food, great hospitality, beautiful ambiance...what more do you expect for a memorable dinner..!!

One of the best places in India leave alone bangalore if you love Japanese. Very classy, very impressive! The service was excellent that I hv gotten accustomed to in the ITC restaurants. It's about 3.5k per person for the meal I ordered and I was very impressed with every bit of it specially the sushi. All in all a very good experience, can't wait to go again.

I visited Edo for dinner during the Citi Chef's Table Week event last year. So for full disclosure, the dishes in my meal may or may not be on its regular menu. The restaurant has an impressive layout and decor, with excellent service as one has gotten accustomed to in the ITC hotels! I chose the 6 course non vegetarian tasting menu for the night. Chef Kamlesh Joshi was a very visible presence, stopping by  tables to introduced the menu and its origins as well as learn about diners preferences and food interests. We quickly struck up a conversation where I blurted out my favorite aspects of Japanese cuisine to Chef Joshi - all sushi, ramen, udon and snack items like okonomiyaki and takoyaki. First up was a crab salad and chicken gyoza combination garnished with flying fish roe. This was crisp and light and set a wonderful introduction to the sushi and sashimi course that followed. The highlight of this course was the tempura roll with the lightly torched salmon on top, which had a taste of delightful contrasts. For the next 2 courses, I went quickly though the chicken and whitefish dumplings and an extensive tempura platter. Following that, Chef Joshi had a surprise for me - after hearing of my liking for ramen he had customized the next course - soba noodles with bean curd. Normally, I am not a big fan of soba noodles but this was done ramen style and was a revelation. Last but not least was the 3 item Mizugashi - a Yuzu banana cheesecake, chocolate torte and green tea ice cream to fully satiate my sweet tooth. All in all, this was a wonderful meal and I look forward to returning to Edo sometime.

Had dinner at edo during my stay at ITC Gardenia while on a visit to Bangalore. It has a fancy decor and nice ambience, but some light music would have helped create an even better ambience. The menu too is wholesome and the food quality is amazing! The service is prompt and they have authentic Japanese taste... A must try if you like Japanese food.

The food, as always, is super at Edo as is the helpful staff. But, now over the last two years or so of being there I've been asking for plum wine (love the one from Choya) regularly and invariably the staff says exactly the same thing, "We had it until recently, but its over."  Am starting to fell they never had it to begin with! <br/>:-)<br/>Don't let the absence of plum wine be a deterrent -- the food continues to be excellent.

We postponed several times coming to Edo though it was shouting out loud on my wish list! However, last Saturday we got the chance to try it out.<br/><br/>At the outset, let me remind you that it is an expensive restaurant and can be reserved for special occasions. We ordered two mocktails which were good (not great) though the names I cannot recollect right now – one was a refreshing watermelon with basil and the other was a mix of summer fruits. We thought of trying out the Nara set menu which comes in an 8 course fancy Kaiseki style. <br/><br/>The first course (Zensai) had a chosen set of classy appetizers - summer roll, Japanese creamy spinach, garlic sautéed Japanese beans and long stem mushrooms. It was a presented beautifully in an iced salver with a smoky finish to the platter that tasted striking!<br/><br/>The second course (Sashimi) was the exotic selection of vegetables and seaweeds well dished up. They tasted acquired and I was a bit confused whether or not I actually loved it. However, the presentation was the best ever!<br/><br/>The third course (Yakimono) was the Robotyaki course which was right from the grill. The plate had mushroom, asparagus, and bell peppers grilled to perfection but to retain its raw texture. I loved this course as it looked very healthy too.<br/><br/>The fourth course (Nimono) was a simple dish made with steamed veges. The vegetables were semi cooked with a stock and every veg piece tasted different but interesting. This was again a very fibrous creation.<br/><br/>The fifth course (Agemono) was the tempura course and it had mildly flavored deep batter fried onions and aborigine. I thought it was a bit oily but the presentation killed every flaw.<br/><br/>The sixth course (Sushi) had an assortment of delicately rolled Sushi/Maki rolls. Though the course was a good one, it wasn’t absolutely the best tasting course. Now as we are veggies and from that perspective we didn’t feel that this was the best ever sushi platter we have tried. Nevertheless the presentation was brilliant.<br/><br/>The seventh course (Syokuji) was the main course where we asked for small but sufficient portions of yudon noodles and Japanese Rice positioned with some Miso soup. The soup gave right aromas of seaweed and the noodles and rice were cooked to perfection. I especially loved the rice.<br/><br/>The eighth course (Mizugashi) was the final one where the Kaiseki journey came to an end with a platter of desserts. The platter had a scoop of sesame ice-cream (tasted close to a Kulfi), banana and dark chocolate compote like mousse and a generous serving of green tea tiramisu. All three of these were the first ever of the kind I tasted that day! The tiramisu was very mild but I totally appreciate its uniqueness.<br/><br/>Matcha (final green tea-ceremony) ended our experience.<br/><br/>Moolah – Total bill was Rs. 7700 for two for the above experience. <br/><br/>Pros – Good food, very elaborate genuine dining involvement, excellent décor, brilliant service, prime location.<br/><br/>Cons – Expensive affair for a casual meal.<br/><br/>Recommended – Celebration meals, client lunches, family reunions, high budget team dinners, romantic dates.

Only once but couldn't appreciate the food; almost nothing for vegetarians but then it's Japanese food. Great malt collection if you the Japanese malts.
