Once upon a time, one of the best places to eat masala dose. It has not yet lost its charm. After eating here for so many years, I thought of visiting again to try the masala dose and it was very good. The taste of the palya is completely different, it's just that there was too much palya in the dose which they can reduce.
Also took the next best item here shavige bhat which was good. It comes with a different red chutney which compliments shavige. Nice.
Last but not least, vade was also nice, not the best but good. Kesari bath is usually wonderful here but I didn't try this time.
Overall, decent place and it's clean. Will visit again to eat kesari bath for sure.
Tasty and pocket friendly breakfast at Upahar Darshini. Waiting time is optimal and may get more crowded on Sundays. Vada dip and Tangy Shavige bath are must try.
Good place to have food. Had breakfast with masala dose and khara bhat. Good in taste neat hygiene. But plate cleaning dept doesn't work well.
Had a set dosa here, taste wise its good and the butter 🧈 on the dosa makes it delicious 😋. No table service available.
One of oldest and first fast food joints of Bangalore .
They serve hygienic and pocket friendly South Indian food.
Do try their masala dosa, dahi vada ( evening only) , Bonda soup ( evening only) , kadabu and ghee rice .
Have been going here for than 20 years and the Taste and quality has not been compromised.
One of oldest eateries in south Bangalore. I have been visiting this restaurant since 1996 and trust me till today they maintained the same taste and quality. The price is not very expensive it's a budgeted hotel. My favourites are Idly Sambar, Savige and Masala Dosa. For the two of us in the morning breakfast you may end up paying around 150. Which is really cost effective. They have both dine-in and take away service. I would prefer dine-in because you can taste the food when its hot.
This place is apparently the first of the Darshini's that opened in Bangalore..and the food definitely hasn't lost the taste or the quality. The masala dosa was just the right amount of crisp with the perfect potato filling. The chutney was the perfect accompaniment to the the dosa. Add in the filter coffee and it's the perfect combo. Worth the visit and so easy on the pocket too..
Upahara Darshini-King of all Darshini’s started in 1991, where people realised that apart from fine dining, we can have food while standing in a restaurant/eatery in a small place, yes they were the first one to start in the whole of Karnataka - the idea of self service or quick service restaraunt, they still have the best masala dosa, idly vada, shavige bath, onion dosa , poori and filter coffee- I bet this is one of the best in Bangalore south and also pocket friendly, high quality food, for me the best shavige bath in the whole of Bangalore has to be this place…do not miss it!
Old school classic place. Always love their idli, vade, benne masal Dose. And the ghee rice here is just freakin amazing. A must try classic bengaluru breakfast place for sure.
One of the best vegetarian hotel with authentic Karnataka food. The meals is very popular with banana leaf (as plate ) and it covers from soup, oputtu, dosa, chappati and full meals. Everything is unlimited. Finally, there is a ice cream too.
Buy the meals tokens in the ground floor only. The meals is served in the first floor and there is tips or delay in the service once you get your seats.
It will be always over crowded as you have to wait minimum 10 to 15 mins to get your chair. Bettter go before 1 pm, the crowd will be normal.
No car parking but you will manage to find it in the both sides of the road only.
