Review Tasting Room, Bengaluru Oota Company - Bengaluru

Abhijit Mukherjee
This place has a nice vibe. Our hostel Pooja was excellent. Taking care of all guests and giving a snippets of the food and history. You need to book appointment at least one day early. You can eat to your gull. They survey almost 12-13 dishes, freshly prepared, so be prepare to take your time and enjoy the ambience. Price on higher side, but considering the quality, quantity and effort put by the owners, I feel it was worth. They serve a mix of Gowda and Mangalore style food. Menu changes. Enjoy the food!!!

It's a great showcase of Karnataka food scenery, especially Gowda cuisine that's hyper-localised to Bangalore. The taste is top-notch, flavours and textures just what it should be - freshly cooked home food. The host takes you through stories of the recipe which adds a familiarity and history to what you're being served. One of the best tasting room experiences in Bangalore. Must visit.

Great experience! Food was delicious. We had a mix of both veg and non veg and everything tasted amazing! The service was great and the host shared a lot of history and stories about the food. We had a whole room to ourselves so the kids got to play a bit as well. It was a bit expensive but well worth the price of the experience.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the tasting menu at Bengaluru Oota Company, and it was truly a culinary adventure. The menu featured a variety of regional dishes from Karnataka, each prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was both beautiful and thoughtful. The service was excellent, with the staff providing insightful information about each dish and its origins. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a distinct local charm. Overall, I highly recommend the tasting menu experience at Bengaluru Oota Company to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Bangalore.

I went to the Bengaluru Oota Company to celebrate my birthday. The food simply exceeded all expectations and left me with a dining experience like none other. The pictures will give you an idea of the feast that awaits, but they can never do justice to the magic of it all. If you are a foodie, for the love of food, head to the Bangalore Oota Company. It's absolutely a must-visit. P.S. They don't entertain walk-ins, and you have to book a slot a day prior.

Absolutely amazing authentic Bangalorian food. Perfect preparation. Loved the homely feel. The owner is great to talk to, she's able to explain the history of every dish. The only thing I'd recommend is getting a better generator. The electricity got cut when we went because of some maintenance, and the generator was only able to splutter for about 10 minutes before it gave out. The owner was prepared with some candles, which would've been romantic for someone, but I was with my father, and it just wasn't it. All in all, I heavily recommend this place to every visitor, it's a great experience.

This place is really good to try authentic and tasty food of Bangalore and Mangalore. We enjoyed all the dishes which were too good. The portion size is sufficient for the pax and you can ask for more if you liked any specific dish. They explain about every dish they serve and most of them are authentic recipes. This place is good for groups as you will enjoy more. Please book this place in advance as each day the menu is changed and they cater as per the pax.

Excellent set menu, wonderful cozy ambience. The food was finger picking good, the service was thoughtful and prompt. Overall, it was one of the best dining experiences. My only advice is to make enough room in your tummy and pace yourself. Bon Appétit

Small home converted to serve Manglorean and Gowda cuisine, that was started by two ladies who left their corporate jobs. The food is as delicious but give yourself 2 to 3 hours to enjoy the many courses served. Check out the menu below.

This is when you miss the 'love button' on FaceBook. Went to BOC for the first time today, for a set meal of Bannur Mamsa Biryani. Was taken in by the colourful and tasteful decor, with the traditional banana leaf plate seating. Vishal and Divia are the most gracious hosts, and once the food started coming in (unlimited serving), our entire rowdy, noisy group of 10 went utterly quiet, tucking in. The Bannur mamsa biryani was simply outstanding: tasty, melt in your mouth meat accompanied with flawlessly cooked rice, great chilli chicken, with kosumbri (south Indian salad) and boiled eggs. There was mor (buttermilk) served through the meal- and my refills kept the servers going back and forth. Rasam and rice, as always, was also on the table. This was followed by the traditional payasam (Even a person off sugar, couldn't help but have some: delicious) and filter coffee (I took two servings of the perfect South Indian coffee). The proof of a delicious meal is in how it sits in your stomach a few hours later...and here I am feeling light and happy, without the usual heaviness that comes from eating outside. Congratulations to Vishal and Divia for a marvellous experience, for this is what a visit to BOC is: a memorable experience, rather than just another meal out. Full Disclosure: Vishal is a friend.

Divya and Vishal truly put a ding in the food universe! To be a foodie is one thing, to have and hold a conversation about food, quite another and then to be an excellent chef, the shiz! The menu at Bengaluru Oota Company was testimony to how well they understand the food - for there was no overlapping in flavours and textures. And they do this day in and out!! Take a bow ladies! The food comes in courses and doled out in copious quantities. Lucky pescetarian me, the evening I visited, the focus was on sea food. So, there was fish, crab and prawn as appetizer, gravy and pulao; each more delectable than the other. All this well punctuated with the home style curd rice, rasam, a unique sautéed salad and fryums. The coup de grâce came in the form of payasam and filter coffee and you dare even whisper NO! because Divya will serve you just that! ;) :)

Awesome food and hospitality..... Homely, hygenic and wonderful taste. The hosts take personal interest to ensure that every guest is satisfied, happy and contended in every meal course. Corporates.... Must get ur foreign clients here. It will be a memorable experience for them...

Concept dining in an intimate setting. Authentic Gowda & Mangalorean cuisine for non-veg lovers! Great hosts and conversation. One of the best food experiences in Bangalore. Excited to discover this place!

Has to be one of the best hidden secrets of Bangalore ,the magic of what is created behind the red door has to be explored, thank you for your beautiful hospitality and for sharing your amazing passion and gift of authentic Mangalorean and Gowda cuisine.

Fantastic spread of unbelievably tasty local food - every dish was spectacular and just right - was also lucky to have a pretty large choice today - Gods have been kind today :)

From the first sight of the yellow entrance and the lovely host who welcomes you inside on a rainy evening smiling, you already know you're in for a gorgeous experience. Pretty much every single thing was on the ball at the BOC. The menu, the laid back decor, the thoughtful prompt serving and the oh so delish food. The two Annapuranas( for what else will you call these goddesses who serve food) even rustled up some rage mudde on the fly without a moment's hesitation when they figured one of our group loved it. And a perfect ending with Janardhan grade filter coffee. Alcohol not required. All in all a super place and I'm already looking forward to going there again.

Simply outstanding !! Authentic age old recipes, beautifully recreated in a true home style ambience!! Treasure trove for some yummy Mangalorean and Gowda Cuisine!! Must try..... Cannot and Should not be missed!!

VIshal and the team are wonderful at explaining the dishes being served. It's one thing to have delicious food, but it's another to see how the dishes have evolved over time through local communities. This is as much a restaurant, as it is almost a culture class! I've taking several guests here and we have loved it every time! Thank you!

I love I love I love the place. My young sons do too... And if you don't go and try it out, you haven't lived!!!!! It's the ethos of Bengaluru captured perfectly and served on a delicious plate.

We had the most delicious lunch at this unique restaurant. Fantastic service and the most flavourfull food in Bangalore. Don't miss a chance to go if you are in the city!!! And if you have a cute baby they would also baby sit him or her if you would want to peacefully relish the food. ;) This is an absolute gastronomic experience with a classic "hygge" atmosphere!

We went to Bengaluru oota company today for lunch :) and it's the best decision I took. The food was simply mind blowing.. The kane fish fry, kosambari, goli bajji, neer dosa, prawns gassi.. But the item that blew my mind was the Bannur mamasa pulao.. OMG.. It was too too too yummy.. The mutton was tender and falling off the bone.. Served with a yumny amla pickle, it's the key highlight of the meal.. The hosts are wonderful women who take very good care of you.. That personal touch really means a lot.. They got me a cake as a surprise since I had taken family for lunch to celebrate my birthday.. Unfortunately I don't have pics of the food.. But trust me, the pics won't do justice to the quality and taste of the food..

I had a strong recommendation for this restaurant serving authentic Mangalorean and Gowda cuisine. I checked their site, called them up and luckily got a seat for the same day.

As I entered the restaurant, I got a very homely feel as it's a bungalow converted in to a restaurant. It has two rooms that can seat groups and a small enclosure that seats individuals. Once you are seated, you get a rundown of the menu for the day(They serve set menu only) followed by the meal.

I can safely say that this a probably the best Mangalorean cuisine I have eaten till date. It also gave me a good insight in to the Gowda cuisine. I can't pick a single dish for special mention as all of them very absolutely delicious.

The restaurant was started by Vishal Shetty and Divya Prabhakar around 4 years back. They believe in serving fresh food and zero food wastage policy. Hence you can only visit the place by booking a seat atleast a day in advance. You can also suggest your preference of meat/ fish/ vegetables. This helps them plan their menu and shopping for the day. What you get is freshly served food, that's finger licking good and easy on your stomach.

In Bangalore, whenever you are looking for a restaurant serving authentic regional cuisine this restaurant should be top on your list.

Excellent food. Absolutely top. Great host and ambience for groups that look for privacy and authentic food. Highly recommended.

Oota Company is an experience unto itself. Right from booking your reservation to the time you finish your meal, everything is unique and refreshing.

Divya took our reservation and reached out for our dietary preferences via mail. The yellow house with the painted red door is unmistakable. The menu is written on a notepad or a blackboard and then the Gowda/Mangalorean delicacies flow through the kitchen door one by one. The highlights of our meal were the Bannur Mutton Pulav, Crab masala, Prawn Ghee Roast, Goli Bajji and the Kane Fry. But the piece de resistance was the Kundapur chicken curry along with the Neer Dosa. Once you are here, you just need to give in to the flow and soak up everything on offer. Do not remember a time I enjoyed all courses on offer at a restaurant. Even mundane, routine staples like Rasam, Majjige and curd rice evoked superlatives. We left extremely satisfied and with amazing memories of a supreme meal. Must Try this once ( Can't stress this enough!!!)

PS: We went back to Oota Company again in 10 days - never repeated a restaurant this quick ever. It's that good.

The menu and food is done very good compliments to divya and vishal to opening such a great place truly loved the place, esp the fresh food which is cooked daily and the choice of menu. The interiors are also done very well...simple neat and elegant. Myself and Rekhansh truly loved the hospitality by vishal and her way of explaining things esp the dishes and how it reaches from a farm to table. Extremely happy and satisfied with the place, Congratulations on winning the award at times food awards, truly deserved. The food was so tasty and good i forgot to click any pictures. took us back to out college days in manipal.

Kind regards,
Reuben Thomas

- Over priced
- Service is too slow
- Few dish name needs to be more authentic. It is not goli bajji. It is goli baje.

Awesome homely food, but overpriced.

Great experience, being served a sumptuous unlimited meal by attentive staff under supervision of the owners who thoughtfully provided comments on the courses as they were served.

The USP of Bengaluru Oota Company is that you are served authentic and traditional food in a home setting - akin to those brilliant, belly-bursting lunches at your aunt's/ grandparents' houses. Started by two friends (Vishal and Divya) who gave up their hospitality and retail careers to pursue their passion for food, Bengaluru Oota Company is all about that something-different that you are looking to eat, on a Saturday/ Sunday afternoon (or frankly, any other day of the week).

We were treated to an elaborate three course meal of Gowda and Mangalorean delights - the stand-outs for me - mutton keema balls, chicken curry, mutton pulao, prawn ghee roast, and the jackfruit idlis. While they have a fixed list of Gowda and Mangalorean dishes (as is customary for most such places), different dishes (out of this list) are curated for different days (though I'm sure their other dishes are as tasty and good-for-the-soul, as the ones we were served).

Portions are quite large. One can always ask for multiple helpings, though that's unlikely to happen, given how much is served the first time around! :) Service is prompt and extremely efficient.

In a nutshell - Authentic, traditional, unique and popping flavours, colourful plates of food, home-esque setting - what's not to love?

A special shout-out to Vishal for making us feel at home and ensuring that my first visit to Bengaluru Oota Company was quite the unique eating experience!

Ambience - 5/5
Food - 5/5
Service - 5/5

When was the last time your restuarant experience started by ringing a door bell of a cute little house in one of the oldest parts of Bangalore? The single-sign easily-missed simple exterior doesn't prepare you for what's waiting inside this one-of-a-kind ethnic cuisine experience curated by 2 lovely ladies whose passion for food is overtaken only by the quality and taste of food served. It felt like home ... Tasted like heaven.
For home style Gowda and Mangalorean cuisine we were blown away by the variety, taste and freshness of every item (trust me there were quite a few) served in this tasting menu. The Prawns were fresh, the Chicken cutlets packed flavour, the Pork in Pandi Masala was succulent and the Pulaos (Mutton and Chicken) were clearly the belles of the ball. Every single accompaniment was prepared with love and tasted brilliant. To top it all off, the Badam halwa and fragrant jaggery Filter coffee made for a fitting end to an Epic meal.
We loved our gupshup with Divya who played the perfect host and took us meticulously through each stage of the meal and made it a truely enriching experience....thanks Divya!! can't wait to come back

...one small feedback though... After such a meal we could hardly move.....we needed a bed to pass out immediately after ... Pls arrange for one 😊

Thanks again
Abhishek & Paula
Ethnic settings, good food, excellent host. Overall, a unique experience. Will always remember Jackfruit idli as a novel and very tasty item.
I am a veggie, but this place must be a non veggie's delight.

For people from outside Bangalore, One time visit toh banta hai

This is more like a homely dining room than a restaurant. The recipes and service are also like that. You have to book in advance for their limited seats and sit down for a traditional Mangalorean + Kannada meal (as it was cooked in traditional households).

The menu is a good mix of veg and non-veg. The food is served course by course with gaps for conversation and digestion! The hostesses are usually available for introducing the food and explaining how to eat.

Overall, a great place for a different kind of dining experience. Go with a mid to large sized group for more fun!

Very tasty and authentic Mangalorean and Gowda food, every dish was explained by the 2 lovely host.
There was freshness in every dish, it augments the flavour especially when served on banana leaf.
The prawn ghee roast and mutton biryani was exceptionally good.
Thank you Divya & Vishal for being a great host.
Great example of good honest south Indian food. The food was yummy. From preparation to presentation everything was top notch. We had a reunion of around 25 pax there.. The hosts Divya and Vishal went out of their way to make us comfortable and let us experience the best. Kudos to Harry for the swift service.
P.s their Mutton pulao is finger licking good.

Lovely food, warm hosts and fantastic experience. The food is cooked with love and care and served fresh and hot. Every single dish was delicious and unique.

here we had a lovely brunch on a lazy Sunday. You get a table only on reservation n you need make the booking 2 days in advance. They have no good wastage policy and cook only as per order. They serve Mangalorean and Gowda cuisine and the 7 course menu is curated as per your preference. We liked the Lotus Stem Taal, Neer Dosa, Sannas, Manoli Upkari (Ivy Gourd Fry), Gujje Ajadina ( Raw Jackfruit Fry), Mango Rice, Gooseberry Pickle, Rasam n Filter Coffee. The 2 ladies who founded this place 3 years back and converse with you during the meal and also explain the concept of their Tasting Room. It’s a must try for all the foodies out there.

When did you go out for a meal the last time and rang a doorbell to have the host let you in.... bet it was your family or friends house!
Tasting Room - Bengaluru Oota Company is one such place! You reach and you ring the door bell and viola it’s a gateway to heavenly food.
Let me put one thought right up there unlike any other place here you’ll get full eating good food there’s no soda in the food :)
Lovely place, hosts, personalised service and great food ... for a change not gonna tell you anything about the food ... neither have I posted pictures of the food except the exterior as a landmark for you to spot the place ... go and experience it it’s worth every penny.
Thank you for a sumptuously wonderful lunch, will be back!

I just love the setting and the food. Starting with Cocum juice the Neer dosa, prawns currry yumm I could go and on. A must visit for any foodie!
Reshma Naimpally
We had been there with some of Visiting collegues outside India. We have a great time & we bonded over good food. Divya who was the host, briefed everyone on the food choices, habits, tradition & many other things. Overall it was a great experience we had dining there. Unfortunately on that day- there were some electrical downtime in the locality & hence A/C was non functional. She supported with additional fans to ensure it wasn't hot or stuffy.

You know you are in for an authentic experience when the menu reads like the pic ! Every dish made with love and the proprietors taking the time to explain how to eat the food in the proper way. Their no frills approach is what makes the experience one of a kind ...You sit around a cosy table with the food being brought in one after another and every bite is a trip down memory lane for a kid born and brought up in old Bangalore ( read : my Hubby ) And I especially loved the filter coffee and the goli Baji and the biryani !! I mean everything was divine! Thank you guys for an amazing experience..!

The best place to try for authentic Mangalorean and Karnataka cuisine . Their Crab Curry is the best one i’ve had so far . The hosts make you feel like you have entered a friend’s place for lunch or dinner . Everything on their menu of the day is finger licking delicious. Please do go with prior reservations only as they have limited tables .

An amazing entrepreneurial venture. Taste of authentic Karnataka food and made to order. Before I reveal much, please go and try, with reservation only. Non-vegetarians will have a feast!
The Bangalore Food Harem
Bengaluru Oota Company is doing an excellent job of serving traditional Mangalorean and Gowda food based on each of the proprietor’s grandmothers' recipes. The quaint, secluded, homely space along with the warmth with which you are received by the hosts, makes it feel similar to being invited for a family get-together.

The dining experience apart, the food served here is rather memorable. We were greeted with a delicious kokum juice and some papad with kosambari. That was followed up by some goli bajji & coconut chutney, sannas, neer dosa, Mangalorean prawn curry, kane fry, Mangalorean-style chilli chicken, boiled red rice and Gowda-style mutton chops. The neer dosa was perfection: light, coconutty and melt in the mouth. The prawn curry was extremely reminiscent of the one served at Giri Manja’s (Mangalore). Our meal ended with a serving each of ragi manne (a coconut, ragi and jaggery-based pudding) and the most heavenly cup of stong, mildly sweet filter coffee, which in our personal opinion, is the best we’ve ever had in the city.

Dishes we've tried on our other visits (there have been multiple, mind you) include donne biryani, ragi mudde, ghee rice, Mangalorean crab curry, prawn ghee roast, and khas khas payasam, all of which have been remarkable. As one of the proprietors put it, "When I think of the menu for the guests, it needs to get me salivating". . . and they’ve managed to do just that!

P.S. You need to call at least 24 hrs ahead for reservations.

A brilliant meal that my husband and I had in ages. the food, the service and everything about BOC left our hearts and souls happy.
we ordered a three course Mangalorean style meal.
we had, buttermilk , goli bajjis, chutney, fish fry, neer dosa, prawn curry, mutton pulao, raita, mint chutney , rasam, curd rice, sweet and sour pineapple, obattu and finally to end the feast, a filter coffee.
the hosts Divya and vishal were very courteous and friendly.
the food was served by a very sweet Mr. Harry.
thank you for keeping our tummies happy.
yes, it's slightly expensive, however it is totally worth it.

When a couple of NRI friends and a couple of desi friends meet what can one expect. "ONLY good south indian food" was the mandate. Nothing more..nothing less. And their demands(the NRIs that is) were endless.. Should taste good, should have a south Indian feel, should be authentic, should be relaxing, should have good privacy, should have the personal touch...well you get the point. Now this was an arduous task for us poor desi souls and soon we were pouring over Zomato's restaurants. And surprise of surprise it was the NRIs who finally zeroed in on this unique place through good reviews from eminent reviewers. Tucked away in a side road off the bustling Cambridge layout, one can almost miss this quaint outlet. For it's not your regular restaurant facade here. Instead it's a brightly coloured house probably from the seventies or eighties converted to a private intimate Tasting house. And the door was closed. (One can enter ONLY with prior booking.) On ringing the bell, our elegant hostess Divya welcomed us and led us in to the cosy place. The halls and rooms had been converted to dining areas seating 12/10/6/4 according to the group size. The interiors were tastefully done right from the painted walls to the beautifully designed lamps blending with the ethnic look. The handwritten menu of the day lies on the table. Incidentally Divya takes time while booking to understand the likes and dislikes of guests. Lunch started with a glass of cool Chaas that was so soothing with some cucumber salad (known as koshambari locally - a typical south Indian salad made from pulses (split green gram) along with some sandiges(fryums type). While munching through the delicious combination and not having enough of it came the next fare...masala vada with coconut chutney. Crunchy and hot it was a crispy way to begin our lunch. Then came the veg and non veg delights. I shall mainly focus on the veg part being a vegetarian. We were served pathrode(veg) (Patrode or Alu Vadi is a vegetarian dish in Konkani cuisine, Malvani cuisine, Maharashtrian cuisine and Gujarati cuisine. It is made from colocasia leaves stuffed with rice flour and flavourings such as spices, tamarind, and jaggery and differs across states.) The non vegetarians were served Kane fry which, the way they were devouring, must have been good. Soon came the next course. Hot soft melt in mouth neer dosas served in baskets accompanied by Lotus stem dish for vegetarians and Kori ghassi (spicy chicken curry) for non-vegetarians. To say the combination was mind blowing would be putting it too mildly. Neer dosas disappeared in a huff and after two rounds we were served the next fare. Ghee rice with delicious Veg Kurma and traditional mutton chops. Raw jackfruit palya (gujje ajjadina) and a glass of rasam was simply amazing. Followed by curd rice and pineapple gojju - a superb combination. If you though that was all here comes the next surprise. A couscous payasam(kheer). By then we couldn't even breathe. To wind it all up comes a hot cup of the best filter coffee with an inch of froth, by which time we were groaning...with happiness(an oxy-moron. Right?) We dragged ourselves up clicked a lot of pictures and slowly returned home with fond memories and a vow to return. Again!!! The NRIs had no more demands!

If you're reading this review, you know this isn't a regular restaurant you can just show up to. Our group of 9 had a good number of Karnataka food experts so it means something when I say that we were satisfied!

Our lunch began with delicious and light buttermilk -10/10 for the flavour and consistency. Papad with cucumber salad was a good accompaniment to the buttermilk. Crispy, deep friend bondas with fresh coconutty chutney followed - it was the perfect appetiser.

The next dish was Prawn Ghee Roast, which was not as great as we expected it to be but it was still good. As we discussed with Divya, our host at the Oota company, we were expecting Kori roti - chicken with thin roti - but we got chicken with neer dosa. I enjoyed it anyway because it was deliciously flavoured (a tad bit undersalted), though some of my friends were a little sad to not see Kori roti - it's something special apparently. The next two dishes were a huge hit with the lovers of authentic Gowda food - mutton chops and the Bannur mutton pulao. The green chutney and the pachadi (raita like) with it added even more flavour. Some ragi balls were had with this gravy and some boiled eggs with the pulao.

As each of us started to regret having no space left in our tummies, Divya gave us a shot of hot and tasty Rasam to settle our stomachs and prepare us for more eating! Next, the tastiest item (to my palate) was served - curd rice, jackfruit pickle, and pineapple pickle. And finally, we took some more servings of the main course items we had liked the most.

Last course was of payasam made of poppy seeds (i don't like payasam in general, and this was no exception) and filter coffee (it was SO good). With heavy hearts, we ended a long and tasty meal.

At about ₹ 1350 per head and perhaps 5000 calories per sitting, it's certainly not a meal one can have every week. But it's surely worth a try, especially if you're not familiar with Karnatakan cuisine. Recommend.

Ideally, you should plan the meal menu with Divya and Vishal to get the best experience. The best of the Mangalorean and Gowda home made recipes are on offer. A nice concept of “eating out” within a homely traditional ambience. Several trips needed to cover the menu :-)

Gowda and mangalorean cuisine. Gave us excellent vegetarian food. Also provided jain food for one person in our group. Enjoyed the experience. Would highly recommend it.

Amazing food, good music, ambiance and incredible hosts. Every dish which they serve is freshly cooked as they start preparing them once you arrive at the restaurant. Also, they serve every item in the menu one by one (once you finish first item) to make sure that its hot. You can always ask for repeat of a particular item. This place has a very homely feel to it which makes your experience even better. Loved every dish in the menu, especially, mutton pulao, fish fry, and mangalorean chicken curry. At the end of the meal they served filter coffee too which was really comforting after having such a big meal :). Highly recommended! Just notify them a day in advance, so they can share food menu with you for that day and buy quantities as per the number of people.

The food is incredible. Divya is probably the best host ever and the place is as homely and amazing as you'd imagine. Thank you for the hospitality and I wish you all nothing less than eternal success. Loads of love.

Very authentic cuisines of karnataka. The mutton biryani was the best I've had and the Pickles and chutneys were great too. The dessert was a traditional sweet that I remember having eaten at some point in my childhood. Oh and the filter coffee in the end was the icing on the cake. The place feels like home and the hosts add a personal touch to the whole experience. Very happy that Bangalore has a place like this!
Great food, lovely rustic ambience and the hosts were just wonderful! We loved the kane fry, prawn ghee roast and the mutton pulao. The filter coffee to end the meal was just right! Highly recommended - the food and a long nap after!

Loved this place, excellent food made with really high quality ingredients and equal amounts of love. At the end of the meal we felt like we had dined at a dear friends place who obviously cooks fantastic food! Totally recommend the experience.

Bangalore oota company is a very unique place to eat. The concept it flawed and It's over priced and not value for money. One could eat an unlimited buffet at a 5 star hotel for the prices they charge. They started us off with three deep fried dishes which were below average and very filling. Next was a prawn curry and neer dosa which was very average. Though prawn curry was very well made but the prawn quality was poor ...not the tiger or jumbo variety , but tinny and very few in number with lots of watery curry. The dosa was made earlier and served cold. We are looking forward to the Ghee rice and mutton chops but that was disappointing too. The mutton was well made but we were served only 3 small pieces and two of them were full of fat and had a huge cartilage. The rice was flavorless and over done more like a kichidi which I would eat when I have an upset stomach. The desert was a nice payasam. My bill of Rs 4000 ( meal for 3 ) was not a surprise with the 2 kinds of GST and all but was on a plane paper handwritten so if you are on a company expense account , you may struggle getting a reimbursement.

We are essentially meat lovers so Inspite of a non veg meal we definitely felt short changed and bloated as we had consumed a huge number of calories coming from mainly rice and it's not a great feeling. We were told at the end of our diner that we could have asked for refills of any dish so things were really not clear how the concept works. Leaving the specifics out , in this concept we were told to choose the meats of our choice so preordered 48hrs earlier prawns , mutton and chicken. In spite of a written confirmation we were not served any chicken dish, which left us bewildered.

Having said what I said , for me BOC is a place to definitely try again considering the concept is unique but requires little explaining from the hosts and more understanding from the guests . Lastly ...there is a profound sincerity which can be seen in the two charming hosts and that is the only thing that might take me back there.

The tasting room is a unique restaurant. Reservations are mandatory and food is cooked fresh and served course by course. The ingredients are hand picked every morning and the menu gets decided based on what's available in the local markets on a given day.

You get the sense of being a guest at a friend's place more than dining at a restaurant. The food is all local honest and unpretentious. Served on a banana leaf each and every item is unique delicious.

Our hosts were hospitable warm and friendly. Genuinely passionate about food Divya explained every dish in addition to regaling us with anecdotes about her food and travel experiences.

Will definitely return! Thanks again Divya & Vish!

I nice quaint little place with unique decor. Presentation of food is home styled and it's delicious. Hosts give personalised attention to all tables and that makes this place as an extra special one. Food is definitely over priced even compared to a buffet in a five start hotel but the overall spread and taste makes it worthwhile.

Food: Home made mangalorean & gowda food. Had the 5 course meal. Everything was spot on. From the kane fry to the prawn gassi.

Place: Feels like you're having a meal in someone's living room. Definitely adds to the whole experience.

Tip: Have to book a day before and make sure you have nothing to do after your meal at the oota company.

An experience of Karnataka like no other. The food, breathtakingly delicious as it may be, is merely one of the elements that will make your visit to BOC a near magical one.
The pleasant setting, the unique idea, the irresistible food and the unforgettable hosts all come together to make this establishment an icon of Bangalore.

Absolutely delicious food and a gracious hostess in Divya. The Tasting Room is all about home cooked food specialising in Karnataka cuisines . The menu is pre-decided when you call in to make a reservation . The prawns were delicious to start with . There was Akki Roti which went well with the peanut chutney as well as with the Lamb chops curry. The Lamb chops were perfectly cooked , tender lamb literally falling off the bones. The chicken Pulav had just the right amount of spice . The ubiquitous Curd Rice was surprisingly the piece -de- resistance because you just couldn't leave without having it after such a hearty meal ! The payasam and filter coffee were the perfect touch to end a great meal .

The coup de grâce came in the form of payasam and filter coffee and you dare even whisper NO! because Divya will serve you just
that! ;) :)

My first time having food from Bengaluru Ooty Company and it really exceeded my expectations. We had some tricky diet needs for a big group and the staff made necessary changes. We had chicken gassi and the chicken was amazingly tender. Fish and mutton cutlets were outstanding! Everything was so tasty I could go on and on. Highly recommend!

Awesome food, great hosts. Food was very original and very flavorsome. The bisi bele bath was the highlight and the chicken was great, too. I can't wait to eat there again :)
