Review Naachiyar's - Bengaluru

vijay kumar
Not very big restaurant but taste wise it is good and better than any other Chettinad restaurant chain of hotels in Bangalore. Especially I like Nandu rasam and egg kothu parotta and idiyappam.

Food is so authentic. Especially pepper rasam šŸ² and sea food. Chettinad style. I appreciate šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³ Kumar sir for making food so yummy. Service is excellent. They attend the guest so well. Murgan sir treats us so well
Sanket Prabhudesai
One of the best restaurants for Chettinad Cuisine in the city. The owner is the sweetest person youā€™ll meet. It is a family run restaurant and the love and affection they have to their guests is extraordinary. A must visit for Bangalore.

Had today Mutton biryani and Nati chicken gravy. Both were very tasty šŸ’•
Navodaya Chourasia
This place should get 1000 stars. Such sumptuous food and such an amazing hospitality by Babu Uncle who is also one of the owners. This is a must visit place. Must try - Veg Chettinad meal
NISHA CHAUHAN
The ambience was soo nice, giving old vibes. Old Tamil songā€™s playing at the background. There chicken biryani was soo delicious. I tried it first and it blown my mind.

You have to initially wait to get seats however amazing start with Nandu soup šŸ² nettali roast and a mutton roast biryani

Nachiyar serves mouthwatering Chettinad cuisine. All food gets laid out in front of a banana leaf.Ā We started with a chicken fry, fish fry, and prawns along with crispy parotta. Fish and prawns fry crumbles in our mouths as soon as we bite into it. While I was tempted by the fragrant chicken biryani,Ā Ā it turned out to be an absolute delight with a strong flavor fromĀ masalas. Happy with our experience, a sweet samiya Payasam from my Amma's Chettinad fish meals plate and chilled rose milk turns outĀ to be the perfect end toĀ our meal. Highly recommended!

Consistently exceptional food! I've frequented this place multiple times, and the quality remains consistently high. Each dish is incredibly tasty. While I don't usually write reviews, the happiness this place brings me every time I dine here deserves acknowledgment.
venkadesh babu, jayabal.
Top notch. If you like Chettinad-style foods, you must visit this place and try here the variety of south Indian food items. We had fish meals here for two peoples; it was 565/-. Fantastic, tasty meals we had with the affordable price. On normal days the fish meal will be 460/-; on Tuesdays, the cost is 260/- only, two types of starters, one boiled egg, one bowl of fish šŸ curry, unlimited rice šŸšRasam and buttermilk will be served on the combo. As a food lover this is my honest review, the Naachiyar's Chettinad restaurant is must visit place with family and friends.

Chettinad cuisine, Andhra style anything else , name it and you've got the best here. This place near ulsoor lake is a haven for traditional south Indian cuisine. The place reflects an architectural style of the traditional south palace/house.
The food is served in a very traditional way with the authenticity and flavour that is true to its origin. There is no fusion , no addition just plain old good traditional south Indian food that is finger licking.
The service is quick and extremely hygienic with super friendly staff that is happy to serve you.
The must try dishes are the vazhappu vada and the dry gobi / Gobi 65 and the non veg and veg Thali.
Varna Prakash
This place serves some authentic chettinad cuisine.
Came here to try the dry gobi and vada. The gobi was really tasty and crunchy and the vada was really flavourful.

Great place to eat spicy andhra style food
Ranju
The biryani is sad as itā€™s filled with normal rice and just 3 small pieces of fish. Not worth of 315 rs!
Shivhani
Quantity is very good for the price., taste of all the dishes is good., typical Tamil Nadu style!

Crab Varuval is very good and good quantity for the price

Trichy and Chennai in Tamilnadu is where I have spent the best part of my life and my food experiences there was of good non-vegetarian local and Chettinad food at the numerous hole in the wall places, also technically road side heavens ! One of my all-time favorite weekend dishes was the Kozhi Kothu Parotta which is basically minced Parotta with chicken kurma, egg and shredded chicken as well. That experience of sitting on the road side while the Parotta gets cooked in a big tawa right in front of you and the aroma that fills in the air is as mouthwatering as it could get. So when I came across Naachiyarā€™s in Bangalore, it was time to re-live some of those moments though there is nothing that could match to the road side effect.

I ordered for veg meal and it was a total disaster, not worth the money. They added salt to rice, so when I mixed the curries and vegetables, it tasted really bad.
I don't recommend meals. The muttai biryani was really good and I enjoyed that. Vathakuzhambu had a chicken smell and wasn't appetizing and I got a terrible case of gas from eating that. There was no flavour of vathakuzhambu at all and not worth the money.
Do not go here for meals.
Asim Ahmed
Only had the mutton soup by home delivery, it was so spicy that I had to throw it away. Not fit for consumption. I eat spicy food but this was not acceptable and should come with a clear warning.

A must go to place if you want to relieve the Chettinad aroma and the taste. The biryani gives life to your taste buds. The authentic south indian delicious and aromatic food. Naachiyar's sholey chicken is a must try. I'm yet to explore more at this place. But, definitely will keep visiting more often than not.

Good service and decent ambience. Food was good and sounded hygienic. Would go again!

My favourite biriyani place so far. Really soft chicken and flavourful rice, unlike the chicken curry and white rice given by Hyderabadi biriyani places. I wish they hadn't discontinued the brinjal curry with their biriyani. Please bring it back.
We also loved the chicken soup and crab masala.
Aaron Karthik
I've always loved their Biryani's, it brings me back memories from my childhood of going to Karaikudi (a small village in Tamil Nadu, which is the capital of Chettinad food). This is non vegetarian's paradise. Mutton Biryani and Pepper Chicken all the way.
Chaitanya
We have been here for a Lunch on Friday,Ā it was not crowded on that day and we got the table easily. The food was good in taste and typical Tamil Nadu style food. Food is served in banana leaf which makes this place special.

The service is really good and the staff is courteous. Non-veg items are delicious.
Raisa Shaw
This authentic Chittinad Briyani will boast your taste budsšŸ— served with raita and flavorful pickel is a great combo.
The briyani is full of Indian whole spices with smoked chicken pieces it in.
You should definitel try thisšŸ‘
Hanamu
I had many times lunch here one of the best place to had chettinad style food on this location
Service are very good. And ambition you feel like a village house.but litle small dining hall
Sebin Mathew
One of the best south meals Iā€™ve had. Really yum side courses and well prepared rice. Very friendly service. The ambience also gives a very South Indian feel with wooden doors and walls. The egg biryani was also cooked well. Definitely visiting Naachiyarā€™s again.
Most Authentic Tamil Style BiriyanišŸ‘ŒšŸ»
This is my recent favourite place. I keep ordering the Biriyani combos. Canā€™t really control repeating orders from here.
This is heavenly food for me. I was longing to get a place to eat Tamil style biriyani. After Thalappakatti, this would be my affordable choice. šŸ¤‘
The authentic proportion of masala and meats they added are making it incomparable with any other restaurant's Chettinadu biriyani.Ā
Ordered Chilli Chicken and Chicken Fry biriyanis, both are delicious as hell. šŸ˜½

I recommend this place for any group of Tamils who donā€™t want to wait in Thalappakatti and get disappointed. Go for biriyani without a second thought.šŸ¤¤
But other items, I am unaware of. šŸ¤

Authentic Chettinad cuisine in Bangalore. A place for both veg and non-veg lovers. The food is extremely spicy and mouth watering.A must try for Chettinad style Karam Kozhi which has a unimaginable flavour which makes you to get lost in its taste...
Mithali Sanil
An under rated restaurant... needs more recognition... amazing food.. ordered meal and muttai 65 it was simply amazing... do visit this place for simple welcoming servers and amazing food ... the egg 65 is out of this world
Aruna
If you are planning to an online order, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They will definitely miss an order. Not sure if this is intentional or carlessness but restaurant needs to be more professional.
Karthikeyan Velusamy
Great place for spicy and tasty non-vegetarian food ( Tamil nadu style )...try the Nandu soup, vanjaram fry and biriyani.properly cooked and use of pepper makes the food even tastier
Nishanth Prabhu
Finally, a restaurant which serves authentic chettinad cuisine. I might have jumped the gun in giving 5 stars without tasting their non veg dishes but if the veg is so good I have no doubt their non veg dishes would be finger licking gooddd....

Just back from lunch at this place. I had their meals and my wife had chapati , idiyapam with Mushroom varuval... the varuval was toooo good...the flavor was bang on...cannot wait to try their chicken dishes...idiyapam was soft and went perfectly well šŸ‘Œ with varuval

Their meals had everything one could ask for... started with generous serving of ghee n paruppu(dal), followed by sambhar...
Vatha kozhambu was authentic n spicy as well...sambhar n rasam was decent however the brinjal Poriyal had the chettinad punch...payasam was ok...ended the meals with curd...

One of the best places in Bangalore for the authentic Chettinad cuisine.......... ambience is at its best..... you get a feel of old chettinad type of house...... Food is at its Best...... no other restaurant can match its quality or quantity......
Priomb
This is a little place tucked away at one corner near mg road..one should not go by the exterior as nothing is extravagant here...but we do get authentic south Indian food at this place.
The food is basic, clean and tasty. It gives a feel of the typical home made food and guess this is the reason why most people visit this place. The waiters are genuinely attentive and one need not wait for long time for the food to arrive.
Food-4/5, service-5/5, ambience-3/5
Neha Nagpal
My review is solely based on Home Delivery.
I ordered a Chicken 65 Biryani from here and requested them to send Raita and Gravy with it.

The food arrived on time and the Biryani portion was decent. The quantity of Raita and Gravy sent with it, didn't do justice it.
The rice by itself isn't spicy, but the gravy is a bomb and it just elevated the flavours when mixed with the rice.

It was worth the price as there was an offer going on.
H30
Food was good but they missed an order for idiyaapam. They need to check properly before packing the order. Customers money is getting wasted.

Update on May 31st - their delivery orders are absolutely pathetic, ordered for crab soup they gave rasam, dont take customers for granted. You think we are fools who dont know difference between rasam and crab soup. You dont seem to learn from your mistakes, my last order was also wrong. Rather it's my mistake, never again will look at this restaurant.
Pamela D.
If you love traditional local cuisine this is the place to be.The ambiance may appear a little shabby and it is no way close to those fancy restaurants but the food is finger licking good and if you love exotic meats then you will be happily surprised by Roast Rabbit in their menu. We tried the brain curry paired with Ketala Porota and it was outstanding. You may want to give your palette a break after a spicy meal with Chhaach or Rose Milk. Its worth many more visits.
First visit to this popular place around. Small place with limited seating. Polite staff. Parking cars might be an issue here.

Coming to the food:

NANDU SOUP - a lot like rasam to be honest. Quite spicy, watery soup with half a crab leg piece in it. I heard a lot of people rave about this. This would be something I would want when I have cold and throat pain. Not really a favourite otherwise.

SILVER FISH DEEP FRY- was fresh and extremely tasty. Good quantity and delicious. Recommended.

MASALA VADA - something like chettambade but super flavourful. Amazing when eaten hot.

MUTTON BIRYANI - not much of a mutton eater so I mainly tried the rice in the biryani. Was not oily, had good flavour. I'd want to try the chicken Biryani next time.

PRAWN FRY - was really tasty and fresh again. Although the service for this dish was super slow.

Overall, good food at a simple place.
Thanmaya
We have always dined-in at Naachiyar. This was the first time ordering from Zomato. The food tasted awesome as always. But the quantity was VERY less compared to what is served when you dine-in

Authentic Chettinad Tamil cuisine in Bangalore. This place boasts of some of the better Chettinad food in the city while being extremely reasonably priced.

Ambience: (4/5)
The space is a little small and has about 10 tables in total so at times you may find that you have to wait. Located around the Ulsoor lake, this place is very centrally located and isnā€™t too far from MG road.

Food: (4/5)
This place has some really great food. Had the thali here which was unlimited and the accompaniment was great. The puli (tamarind) gravy was especially good and went very well with the streaming hot rice and ghee. The fish here was large and tasted fresh unlike some other places in the city. It was cooked very similar to the home-style of cooking from Tamil Nadu.

Summary: (4/5)
Great Tamilian non-veg food option. It is a must visit for any Chettinad food lover.
Deric Sherwin
I havenā€™t been here but have ordered via Zomato.
Food really awesome
Biryanis is really awesome
My favourite parota is simply amazing especially kothu parota just simple delicious and worth for the price.
Brilliant food !!!! Typical south Indian ambience, its like you visited TN for a breif period. The food is authentic and delicious, completely worth it... I would rate it more stars if i could...
Hitha Kumble
Iā€™d rather rate this place ā€œFinger Lickā€™n Goodā€ after a scrumptious meal that left us all food high for quite a long time!
Authentic food with perfect spice/sweet proportion.
We ordered veg meals and a starter, totally worth the price. The quantity served for the starter was quite a disappointment, but the taste won our heart. Nicely convinced ;)
Service was prompt and very well organized. The place may look a little dicey but donā€™t let that fool you.
A must visit Iā€™d say...:)
Thank you!

Farose.N
I like the way of their presence and I feel good after the few orders. Especially that NANDU SOUP is really awesome. I like to say thanks to the chef who make the delicious food. Without him there is nothing.
Niki
Mouth watering lovely spicy food..the crab soup is to die for...had the crispy quail and soft idlis with chicken curry by the time I had finished my meal I was full and Happy . The service was good and fast and do try the rose milk šŸ˜Š
Pavan Peter
Tasty food with a blend of spice and chilli ! Great ambience if you are a tamil retro song lover. Good service and quick delivery . Kotthu egg paratha is a must try

Very spicy for me. People who can bear this should visit this place.
Had been there couple of times. Both visits are satisfying.
There Veg Thali is very good, try some fish along with thali. We had Anchovy fry,(deep fried). Crowded during lunch time.
Koli kulambu (spicy) with parotta is one of favorite.
Vijey Krishna
Am ordered kerala parato and chettinad meals they didn't provide gravy for parotta and curd or buttermilk for rice.Taste and quantity has good.
Sakthi Ganesh
Been going here since 2011. Never ever has the taste of biriyani gone down. I would recommend trying prawn biriyani and I consider this as the cream of the crop. The Naatu Kozhi Kulambu was just like my mom makes. Other must try dishes are Vanjaram fry and Nethili Fry.Ā

Had rabbit roast. The masala was perfect and the rabbit was so tender. Would recommend trying it with their normal Parotta or bun Parotta...

Didn't like mutton chukka here but other items I have tried are amazing.
VisHnu NarAyan
Well this place has complete old style house set-up from the south side. Ambience is really great, staff friendly and service is good.

Food: I tried the kozhi kottu parota which was the best there, also tried the nalli soup which was really thick and spices where at the peak which got the aroma very well, mutton chukka had small chunks like about 20 pieces in it tasted minimal, kozhi sholay was just yummy yellow coloured chunks about 10-12 pieces where just awesome. Mutton biryani was minimal felt there was less quantity and tasted decent.

I totally recommend this place for a family dine-in.

Food-8/10 Price-7/10 Ambience-8/10 Service-8/10

Authentic Chettinad delicious food with amazing Ilayaraja songs in the background!! Finger licking taste with soul touching music... What more you want on a Sunday afternoon....
Mutton Biryani -5* God what a yummy Biryani ā¤ļøšŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹
Veg Meals with craziest Pappu and Vatthe Kuzhambu with Ghee.. Tasted amazing with Kozhi Varaval..
Kozhi Soup šŸ„£ was a tastiest medicine for cold..Wow..

Everyone has to at least taste the food once herešŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹

Intended rating - 3.5

I am a big fan of Andhra meals and the pappu and gunpowder served with it to kick up the spice level but this time I thought of giving a try to Chettinad cuisine so went there for meals. The meal was quite tasty with steaming hot rice and ghee and very similar to Andhra meals. love the dal and palya served with the meal , however other items were not that appealing to me. The ambience was bit dark or say underlighted however the decor was giving me a feel of traditional Tamil set up and the music was quite soothing. Would love to explore more from their menu .

first time visitors to Bangalore...try naachiyar here if you aren't visiting Tamil nadu soon. There are some sad songs that you never remember or think much of. unless you brood. a lot. Naachiyar is authentic and I now know much of hindi Bollywood music is not. hold your horses. I'm not high. the music at naachiyar is Tamil and if pay heed, you can figure hindi songs that have conveniently borrowed riffs and notes. anyway I've digressed and reached Mumbai from ulsoor. for a person who doesn't belong to one particular place and knows little about the food of all places in general, this is the place to start getting serious appreciation for chettinadu cuisine. not only is the food flavorsome, but the service is very nice too. it is a very special place. the level of detailing, from decor to menu to food in itself has been thought through...and more importantly executed well. It takes passion, love and care. if you do need help ordering you should ask folks there! I ve pretty much ordered everything here...crabs, mutton pepper, chicken naachiyar special being most memorable ones.
An amazing chettinad experience...loved every morsel of food we had...If anyone is love super spicy food I recommend this place... amazing foodšŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

The hotel gives a feel of taking food from my hometown. Price is on a higher side. Donā€™t miss the paniyarm by evening.
Thank you for the divine ambience
Rajesh
The best Chettinadu in city(hands down). Ilayaraja songs in the background , the kozhi rasam n biriyani are surely gonna knock you out. Awesome Chettinadu ambience and authentic taste. The spice level is perfect. Heaven for Chettinadu lovers !!
Arockia Jeyachandran
This time parathas were not as good as before and it was burnt. Chicken Chettinad n chicken curry were tasting the same. It was very bland unappetizing
PSK
Tall guys Mind your head when you walk in as the door height is just about five feet to give the feel of old chettinad homes with the ambience. Liked the old typewriter placed on the cupboard.
Had nandu soup(crab),eratchi chukka(mutton),parota with chicken gravy, kaada fry(theethar), eratchi biryani and jigarthanda.
Pepper is used in most of the preparations and the crab soup was awesome. Parota was nice with the gravy. Kaada fry was a disappointment as it wasnt tender.Biryani was also average.Jigarthanda i guess is the mangalorean gadbads chettinad cousin and was decent though my friends say not the best available.
Parking is a problem in the area.Worth another visit.

We went ulsoor side to witness the great dusshera festival organised over there. After roaming around by 9.00 we were very hungry and then spotted this restaurant.
The restaurant is an authentic tradition show casting the Tamil culture.
We had meals over there. Rice was unlimited. The sambar, rasam very tasty especially the vattal kulamppu fantastic....
The price were not that expensive. We had delightful meal (with old tamil songs of Ilayaraja Sir in the background).

My rating 4/5
You get what you want from chettinad cuisine here. Food was well prepared and not so spicy. Service was great with staff being attentive all the time.
Good - 4
Service - 4.5
Ambience - 3
Overall satisfaction and value for money paid - 4.

Would recommend this place for chettinad lovers.
Nithya Jagadish
The ambience, food and 1980's melody reminded me of having food at my grandma's. Kothu parotta was soft, spicy and adequate for my dinner.Chicken biryani and naachiyar's special chicken were yum... The only flaw is the strong smell once you enter the place..and the cost - a bit on the higher side.
But the downs are well compensated by the delicious food.
Vikram Gajendran
Been to this place today tried with veg meals fish briyani ,prawn kabab ,nethly fry the food was good liked briyani and meals but starters were slightly salty service was slightly slow because of crowd overall u can try briyani and meals which r the highlights of the restaurant.
Raaji
Ordered kozhi briyani. Authentic Tamil nadu style briyani. Has variety of spices and no artificial colour. Also has less oil, so acceptably healthy compared to other briyanis. The only bad point was some of the chicken pieces were chewy and slightly hard.

The raita was good and they gave an onion based chalna which went well with the briyani.

The delivery was quick and was given in a reusable cloth bag, which is a plus.
Priyanka
The food was awesome Iā€™m gonna suggest my Friends I had been with my colleagues like to visit again best place nice ambiance the best of chettinad cuisine

Naachiyar 2.0 renovated with great ambience now. Food quality has not changed.. Amazing crabs, prawns dry.. Thali was a bit disappointing compared to other restaurants in chettinad segment.. Overall Value for money.!!!

Let me start by saying "less is more". If you're looking for authentic Chettinad cuisine, this is the place to be. Although you'll find them saying "we're all Tamilian", from the ambience to the food, it is definitely worth a visit. If you're not sure about what you see on the menu, simply ask. We had a lovely waiter who was very patient and served us extremely well, not to miss mentioning that we went when there were not many people. Overall a lovely experience. Wouldn't mention what to try and what not to. I'll simply leave it to you to tantalise your tastebuds.
Ayushi Singh
We visited this place on a Thursday afternoon as it doesnā€™t have a lot of seating capacity we had to share our big table. Their menu is quite difficult to interpret if you are not from South India! Tried the chicken curry and parotta which was good. 35 for a parotta was little pricy I felt and also the quantity of chicken curry was less with only 3 small pieces at a price of 190.
Vinod Kumar
Amazing place for an authentic chettinad food. Very tasty and spicy food. Exactly how I wanted the food to be. Staffs are very friendly. One of my favorite restaurant in Bangalore.
Ram
The foodā€™s got some #chettinadu in it! From rasam to jal jeera, idly to fish fry, there is no room for mediocrity while you are here. You will find a receptionist welcome you with a warm smile and a person dedicated (appears so) to warn you to mind your head while you enter the restaurant. The warmth is relayed to the manager and waiter upon getting seated. The menu is minimalistic but sufficient. Less is more certainly works here. If this is your first time visit, I would recommend you to start off with a soup (rasam, if you are a vegetarian which more or less tastes like hot and sour soup) and proceed with a seer fish fry, spring hopper and chicken curry a.k.a kozhi kuzhambu (donā€™t even attempt to pronounce this tongue twister, if you donā€™t speak #Tamil or Malayalam). We tried a glass of jal jeera which served its purpose at the end however, if you are into #authenticity go for a #jiggarthanda! Trust me, you will want to visit again as long as you embrace the minimalism endowed with this restaurant. Happy eating!

P.S. Itā€™s equally enjoyable for vegetarians as well. Trust me, my wife is vegetarian and we both walked out smiling!

Had been to this place for lunch. Ambiance is average. It's Tamil Nadu style restaurant. The place gets crowded during peak hours. The food is very good. There are less options on menu. But food quality and quantity is good.
I had nanahari sharbath made with roots of a tree. It was very refreshing. Chicken biryani was bit bland but tasted good with raita and curry which were served as sides.
Starters were good too.
Shruthi Kakhandki
ambiance is kind of nice,it is kinda traditional type..v had to wait For 25 mins for table.as it was afternoon ...the place is small and so as the quantity of food... mutton biryani and prawn biryani was good..but didn't like chicken biryani.. Kochi chukka was also bad.. didn't like at all..
Parneet Purewal
love the place, the restaurant looks like a small Chettinad house, service is average but the
food is really good. it is my go to place for Chettinad food.
Dipankar Santra
good food ...had nethili it was like a kabeb but it took a long time..apart from that the food was different like they have rabbit sometimes and also quail ..
Laxman Bhandari
Loved the place . It was different because it was the first time I tried the chettinad cuisine . I took help from the captains and they were really friendly .. I tasted the food and it ws really spicy but the nanari sharbath was really good ... it put off the heat and the spicyness.. a nice small place ..
Gopal Manna
I tried the kaadi varuval, koothu parrotta it was amazing.. loved the music collection... a nice place to have a get together.... but only in the evenings... the same place is crowded in the afternoon.... I

The ambiance is kind of nice, traditional type. Biryani was very flavourful and all their appetisers are to die for, if you donā€™t like it spicy let them know that way you wonā€™t feel the heat.

Overall a very nice ambiance and really good food.

The ambience is kind of nice, traditional type.
But was not happy with the food.
The meals were fine but biryani and chicken fry were not at all good..
Especially the chicken quantity was so bad..
Hardly 4-5 tiny pieces.
Overall only 2.5/5 for this restaurant.

It's an Awesome place to go out with friends or family. The foods are extremely delicious. For non vegetarian lovers they have varieties and it's the best place for them. My experience was really good.. The ambience were beautiful and foods were reasonable. Staff's behavior was very friendly.... I am sure you will have a great experience here..
