This is one standout restaurant located in the sleepy yet charming old Bangalore area of Basavangudi. Just like it’s name, the offerings here are off the mainstream path; with the menu comprising of some fusion flavours across the sections which are worth a relish Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and was impressed with the al fresco vibe, especially the green foliage that embraces you. The open seating under the tin roof shelters and the umbrellas transported me to the old world charm that Bangalore once possessed Coming to food, we tried the following for starters: ➡️the sweet potato and carrot soup which was the soup of the day. Very creamy, flavourful and on point in terms of spice. ➡️Next we ordered the home style 🍕- loaded which fresh veggies but the base was doughy. Overall a decent attempt. For the mains we had : ➡️the mango and avocado salad, which was excellent. The mustard dressing adding an aromatic undertone to the dish💯 ➡️tandoori chicken- which was the dish of the day. It was indeed the best dish on the menu, chicken perfectly cooked ✅ ➡️home style mutton curry with rice, this was the best mutton curry I had in a while; loved the gravy, it was not the regular blended gravy but had a punch of spice coming through and coated the mutton superbly 👌🏼💯 Lastly, we wrapped up the meal with the in house baked carrot cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍨. Very good👍🏼 . . With that said, this place is more that just food as it offers you an unpretentious ambience and an avenue to soak up the vibe and have a meal in peace. No loud background music, no unnecessary commotion of guests. Just a perfect refuge from the hustle and bustle of Bangalore. That’s what makes this place standout. Will certainly visit again !

Simply vintage style ambience. Mango, avacado and almond salad are really a must try. Food is really good in whatever items that we tried felt like very homely food.

I recently visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon with my friends. I expected it to be a usual cafe but to my surprise it had a lot to offer. For the starters we had mango avocado salad- this was by far the most versatile dish I ever tried, the classic hummus and pita - this did full justice to the classic dish, teriyaki chicken wings - the sauce was excellent but I did not enjoy the chicken as much, avocado, white egg and cheese sandwich- simple yet tasty. For the main course we tried Thai grilled chicken with mango relish and herb rice - again the sauce was great but the texture of chicken was not satisfactory, fish served with derivative of hollandaise sauce, broccoli and baby potatoes - I would revisit this restaurant for this dish, vegetable tart served with fresh avocado lettuce salad and potato fries - another delicious dish. Lastly, in desserts we tried their strawberry pannacotta - this did not have the pannacotta wobbly texture but tasted great and carrot cake with ice cream - I would highly recommend this dessert. The overall experience was enhanced by the lovely stories shared by the restaurant owner who educated us about the history of the food and the restaurant. I would like to complement the restaurant staff who are efficient and polite. Not to forget the clean and hygienic washrooms. Parking is available outside the restaurant but at owner’s risk. There is no dedicated restaurant parking. I had a great time with my friends at the restaurant with great food.

Such great experience with food I did not have in a very long time.. it is a must visit. We ordered all the specials of the day as recommended by Mr Anand, who runs the place. Though everything had great balanced flavours, freshly sourced ingredients and delightful mouthfeel some definitely stood out and they are a must try 1. hummus and pita - smooth creamy hummus with very slight hint of garlic 2. Mango avocado salad - one of the best salad I ever had.. sweet mango with avocado and broccoli topped with Bengali styled mustard sauce(kashundi) and nuts and resins 3. Grilled Fish in bearnaise sauce with baby potato and broccoli.. a fish steak baked and grilled to perfection 4. Spinach corn tart 5. Toasted bread with eggs avocado and cheese 6. Strawberry pannacotta- with fresh strawberries 7. Affogato (espresso with ice cream ) - a heavenly delight and a perfect end

I can say this is one of the hidden gem of a place in basavanagudi. Located right opposite to Krishna Rao park it is in a 120yr old property which is surrounded by greenery. Simply vintage style ambience. They have an open roof and closed roof Seating. Mango, avacado and almond salad are really a must try. Food is really good in whatever items that we tried felt like very homely food. Tomato soup, grilled baby corn with lemon butter, med veg Pesto sandwich was good in veg starters. The cooler and milkshake was good. Mushroom main course was also tasty. Triple layer pudding was shop stopper very mild sweet and rich in cream, jelly and resins. Owner was very sweet and humble and interacted with every customer and was passionate about explaining his dishes. A bit on the expensive side.

Very seldom one decides to travel from one end of the city to the other just to grab a bite, but very seldom one gets to experience the charm and warmth of the culinary establishment, that is The Rogue Elephant. CLASSIC HUMMUS & PITA: Easily the smoothest hummus that I’ve had in a long time. So much so that we decided to retain it on the table after finishing the pita bread. WINE SAUTÉED MUSHROOM ON TOAST: Cooked in a generous amount of wine, one will love this if they’re a fan of experimenting with regular ingredients. The bread was tasted perfectly and coupled really well as a crunchy element to the soft and delicate mushrooms. TERIYAKI WINGS: This one’s going to get your hands dirty. The chicken smothered in the teriyaki sauce will definitely remind you of an old-school sports bar kind of finger food. MANGO, AVOCADO & ALMOND SALAD: It was the perfect weekend breakfast snack that one could wish for. There was this amalgamation of ‘tarti-ness’ and creaminess in the salad because of the mango and avocado. The almond was getting the dish together beautifully with its crunchiness. SPINACH & CHEESE TART: Served with a fresh avocado-tomato-lettuce salad and fries, this veg special hit it out of the park for all of us. I’m not a big fan of creamy tarts but this savoury delight was an exception. This dish was swiped off the plate in no time and for good reason. SPAGHETTI WITH SUNDRIED TOMATO & CHILLI PESTO: On the first look, this pasta did overwhelm us a bit with its dark red appearance but the taste was just the opposite of its aggressive facade. The mild flavors of the sundried tomatoes mingled really well with the pesto to give a very humble and wholesome bite to the spaghetti. SOLE FISH WITH BÉARNAISE SAUCE & BABY POTATOES: This particular dish came straight from the heart of Mr. Anand. The joy with which he described the procedure to create the perfect béarnaise sauce was almost infectious. And unsurprisingly, it led to the beautiful marriage between the grilled fish and the creamy rich derivative of the hollandaise sauce. The baby potatoes were definitely a surprise and we welcomed it with open arms as it only made the taste better. This dish is the restaurant’s special for a reason. THAI GRILLED CHICKEN WITH GREEN MANGO RELISH & HERB RICE: If there was 1 dish that could have got a bit better, it was the grilled chicken. I felt that the sauce could have penetrated a lot more into the chicken than it did. The dish was nowhere near being dismal, thanks to the flavorful herbed rice and the tangy green mango relish, but it couldn’t live up to the standards set by the other dishes. AVOCADO, EGG WHITE & CHEESE OPEN SANDWICH: If there’s 1 thing that the chefs at The Rogue Elephant excel at, it is the usage of avocados in their dishes. This was the 3rd variant of the highly beneficial fruit that we tasted and this also had its own character. It doesn’t happen very often when a humble open sandwich with few ingredients has so many layers to offer to the diner. If you’re going for a quick bite, then don’t forget to order this one. CARROT CAKE & ICE CREAM: The airy cake was served mildly hot with the vanilla ice-cream. I wouldn’t forget the cake for some time as the sweet element in it was just perfect, not too less and not too much. Very few eateries get a carrot cake right but you would know at the first bite that the personnel in the kitchen know their stuff when it comes to desserts. STRAWBERRY PANNA COTTA: If you’re one of those who thinks that a panna cotta needs to wobble for it to be the perfect one, then your bubble will burst by the way they serve it. This strawberry brilliance is served in a typical old school chai glass filled almost to the brim. Each bite made us crave for even more and none of us felt guilty about over-eating after relishing this masterpiece. ESPRESSO AFFOGATO: We culminated our meal with an espresso affogato as Mr. Anand insisted on trying at least 1. Affogato literally translates to drowned and drowned was the sweet vanilla ice-cream in the bitter sea of espresso.

I loved the serene ambiance of this dining spot. The mushroom toasties were simply irresistible, and the overall food was incredibly delicious. The service was top-notch, making the experience even more enjoyable. The only drawback was the absence of parking, which can be inconvenient. Nevertheless, it's a great place to savor tasty dishes and unwind.

The ambience and food was great. Specially the milkshakes were thick! It was a chill out vibe with no loud music blasting or any traffic noise. However the menu is on the expensive side.
