Review The Indian Coffee House - Chandigarh

Shivani Rana Ennis
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell by how much busy it remains anytime you go in, it’s hard to find a table. Food is pretty good, some classics and some twists, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it.

Lovely experience here with great tasty food. We had Masala Dosa and Egg Noodles with 2x Cold coffee - all of which were too good! Egg noodles took longer to serve but was definitely worth it. Service was friendly, no wonder they have lasted all these years. Only scored 4 for atmosphere as it was getting too humid inside with more people coming in, no fan was turned on that provided better ventilation.

I love their hot dog which is full of hot great stuff. This time it had been too crispy and hard but I usually love to eat here. Had a Dosa sambhar too which was good in taste. They have given the simple old classic infrastructure inside. But still it's almost full every time I enter there. You usually won't get a seat at lunch hours and it becomes very compact between every seat.

Good place ..it's very old place..nd taste is also good ..price is reasonable..must try veg uttpam

I recently visited your coffee house and felt compelled to share some feedback regarding the ambiance. Unfortunately, I observed that the ambiance falls short of the cozy and inviting atmosphere one typically associates with a coffee house. The lighting seemed dim, and the decor appeared outdated, contributing to a somewhat gloomy environment. Additionally, the seating arrangement lacked comfort, making it less conducive to a relaxing coffee experience. I believe enhancing these aspects could significantly improve the overall appeal of your establishment.

Food is good, staff is quick, prices are great.

The menu is really budget friendly. And they have really interesting items not so much variety but the menu is simply amazing. Also the sitting area will make you feel nostalgic. Must visit place!

The blend of history and some good food is the defining factor of this place. The main highlight of this place is the vibe and the charm. The moment you enter this restaurant, you will start feeling that you are in a old movie of 60s-70s. It’s commendable that during this modern times, they somehow managed to sustain the historical touch. Now the food, it is tasty, especially the South Indian food. Other items were quite average, but I definitely recommend you to try their Dosa, it’s exemplary. Overall, every place has its own uniqueness, and this place is no expectation. The charm of this place cannot be imitated by anyone.

Step into legendary eating House established in 1964.... its pure emotion... ideal for sipping aromatic coffee...n watching world go by...Vada dipped in creamy sambhar...every table full of people engaged in their animated talks.... long live this timelessness in a fast changing world.

Food- 3/5 Ambience - 4/5 Service - 3/5 The whole experience was very decent. Food wasn't that tasty tbh it was fine. They have suggested we try the cold coffee damn that was really pathetic. I'm not a coffee lover but i can easily tell that it was just water with coffee

The Indian Coffee House is a popular destination for coffee lovers and those seeking a nostalgic experience. The coffee house has a long history, having been established in 1957, and has since become an iconic part of the city's cultural landscape. The ambiance of the coffee house is charmingly old-school, with a simple decor and comfortable seating arrangements. The staff is courteous and friendly, and the service is quick and efficient. The prices are reasonable. One of the unique aspects of the Indian Coffee House is its tradition of having its customers share tables with strangers. This fosters a sense of community and promotes conversations between people from different walks of life. Overall, the Indian Coffee House is a great place to visit if you're in the area and looking for a cozy, affordable coffee house experience with a touch of history and tradition.

Went there at night 9 30pm, the service was fast and the food was really good. I ordered masala dosa and coffee. The taste was quite close to authentic South Indian.

The Indian Coffee House in Chandigarh provides a lovely experience with its rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and its charming ambience. The nostalgic feel of the old furnishings makes it a comfortable place to have conversations. There are many different coffee alternatives on the menu, all of which are beautifully made and presented with a friendly grin. For those who love coffee and want to combine tradition and flavor in the heart of Chandigarh, this is the ideal location.

The place maintains its old time charm. Masala dosa and veg cutlets are a must try. Service and cleanliness needs much improvement.

Indian Coffee House exudes an undying charm with its classic, old-school ambiance that resonates nostalgia. Having visited since 2004, the unchanged taste of their Butter Masala Dosa is a testament to their commitment to preserving flavors. The authentic, consistent taste over the years reflects their dedication to quality. The place captures the essence of tradition, making it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic coffee house experience and delightful culinary delights like their timeless Butter Masala Dosa.

A childhood favourite. A place with fond memories. This restaurant has big menu with lots of variety. Be it mutton cutlets, omelettes, bread jam, masala dosa, idli- vada everything is delicious and upto the mark. Coffee is to die for ! It’s unmissable. Cold coffees are light and tasty. And hot coffee is excellent. A must have along with your meal. The place is amazingly pocket friendly and great for a quick lunch or evening snacks <br/>For more check out Instagram: akanksha._

They have best south indian food ...i am in love with their dosa and their coffee as well . They have very low prices for food items so even students can visit this place as they have good quantity also.<br/>
Renuka Sharma
Nice place and pocket friendly. South indian food is really amazing. Must try their cold coffee and cheese sandwich.
Balkeet Singh
If you are south Indian cuisine lover and specially for Dosa then this is the place where you will get authentic south Indian menu at pocket friendly rates

Coffee house is a Rahul we place to visit when in Chandigarh. It has this old world charm that makes it a pleasant experience to visit. The food is good. The South Indian food is quite homely. The onion tomato uttapam is worth ordering. The cold coffee is also good. In cool weather a steaming place of idli dipped in sambar is comforting. The tomato sauce they offer is chargeable and order it only if needed. It’s made with some spices in it and tastes different from tomato ketchup that’s commercially available.
Bhavi Gilhotra
A Budget friendly and fast service almost packed Everytime place. Authentic south Indian taste. One can easily drop by for breakfast in here. Must try. Tried their french fries, vada, idly and coffee. (4.5/5). However one can avoid their french fries.
Avneet
This place sure brings back memories , Nostalgic . The food is total value for money. Usually full of people . Only thing it lacks on is air conditioning and soft drinks
Pulkit Arora
Being a Chandigarh born and brought guy, its gives me a goosebump when it comes to South Indian food at 'Indian coffee house'. I have now.moved out from the city, but the taste which this fines restaurant has to offer is no where to be found. One of the Oldest in the city, this great restraunt has established itself so firmly that it still doesn't need any review. In spite of that, till date the masala dosa and sambhar vada of coffee house is my absolute favorite. You'll get the finest coffee here.<br/>Value for money of you want to try south Indian cuisine. Indian Coffee House sector 17.
Vanshika Gupta
Ordered their masala dosa, Paneer Pakodas and french fries along with some hot coffee. The dosa was pretty tasty and the Pakodas were also good. The fries and coffee were a big disappointment. But anyways a nice place but overly crowded.Although considering the fact that its so old and renowned, its quite nice.
Bharti Mehta
This place is always overcrowded with people waiting for others to leave the table and get settled down.<br/><br/>Coming to good:<br/><br/>Their Hot Chocolate is a must try.<br/><br/>Uttapam and Dosas are good too but sambar can be improved.<br/><br/>Overall this a good place to visit if you are around Sector 17 and craving some good South Indian Food which is not heavy on pocket.
Rajesh Ahuja
Seems a cool place....
Divya Mahajan
One of the oldest and really famous place for it south indian food. They haven’t changed anything since. It feels nostalgic to still visit this place.Really amazing and humble staff. ❤️
Aarushi Panwar
Its a must visit. Feels like 80s and the people you ll meet are absolutely amazing. Ask for coffee but seperated, and make your own coffee, its really nice.
Shilpa Dubey
Love the evening crowd it tooks me to some other era. Words are too short to appreciate the place. ☺️☺️☺️

The mutton dosa is to die for. It’s not spicy at all, and you can really taste the mutton, which is soft and yummy. The dosa is crispy and served with thick coconut chutney and sambar. I loved the chutney, sambar I didn’t try. <br/><br/>Stay away from the filter coffee. I suggest concentrate on the food. Worth every penny and more.

Among the oldest Cafe situated in the heart of Chandigarh reminds you the time back in 90's. Food is very basic odered Butter masala dosa & coffee, dosa was good in taste not extraordinary, coffee was pathetic. Overall a pocket friendly place with decent food.
Raman Malik
It’s always good to visit Indian coffee house at any location around India, this time it was Chandigarh<br/><br/>I ordered Butter Toast, which was crispy toasted bread with butter inside which I sandwich with Veg cutlet, mildly spiced mix vegetable cutlet<br/><br/>Idli and Vada is served soaked in sambhar and coconut chutney on side, the texture of both were good and sambhar was as sumptuous as always<br/><br/>This time I tried Veg Hot Dog, which is deep fried and filled with vegetable masala, it was again a very good option<br/><br/>I had cold coffee, which tasted ok, can be little better <br/><br/>All this costed me only 230<br/><br/>People looking for swanky place, please don’t visit<br/><br/>If you are looking for some tasty food and decent place to sit, it’s a must go

Good Coffee, Fine Food<br/><br/>Always busy, great hot coffee. I tried Vada Sambahar it was good but not great.<br/><br/>Service is fine, if you are hygiene cautious remember glass for water may have fingerprints or other cutlery may have water in it.<br/><br/>Very old setup, no change in interior or exterior since ages but price is incredible increased.<br/><br/>1 star is missing because that awesome wali feeling is not there.<br/><br/>Worth visiting once for quick bites or healthy and light food.

PLAIN BUTTER DOSA<br/>South Indian breakfast is one of the best ways to kick start your day.<br/>Healthy, nutritious, light and yet delicious.<br/>I always go for this one specially for my breakfast.🤪<br/>This one is from @indiancoffeehouse , India's most historic coffee chain as they say.<br/>In FRAME : Dosa + delicious sambhar which is absolutely sumptuous.
Agam Singh
One of the oldest south indian restaurants in chandigarh. My parents used to visit this place even before i was born( guess my age 😉).<br/><br/>Nothing has changed be it the interiors , the dress code of the waiters and even the crockery. (But i wonder why did they change the prices, the dosa should be priced at 5rs only 😛 )<br/><br/>Jokes apart. Time for some serious review<br/><br/>If you visit during the wee hours first of all you have to wait for your table and then after you settle down you have to wait again  for your order to be served.<br/><br/>I have tried dosas, uttapam, pakoras, sandwiches and coffee (strong as arnold schwarzenegger) <br/><br/>I will tell what i don't like because it is few in number 1. egg dosa 2. noodles <br/><br/>Rest all the items are good . Though they have reduced the amount of fillings in dosa and uttapam. <br/><br/>Ps: Easy going on pocket.
Rohit's Food Chronicles
Good place to grab a quick south indian bite.<br/>The dosa with sambar and chutney was good. Vada drowned in sambar was very good in taste crispy and quite tasty.<br/>But the coffee was kind of a let down. It was very thin and had very little body even for a filter coffee kind. So this outlet needs to bolster its coffee...after all the name says it all. You need to serve good coffee. Other than that its an old style place that badly needs a little upgrade. But the food won't let you down.<br/>
Vanshika
In the photos - Masala Dosa, Idli<br/>sambhar and bread butter<br/>Price: Masala dosa 71/-<br/>Idli sambhar 51/- Bread<br/>butter 19/-<br/>Over all taste rating - 4/5<br/><br/>This place "Indian coffee house" was introduced in 1958 and is still going strong. They have nearly 400 cafes all over India. The one in Chandigarh is always full with lines of people waiting outside during lunch time.<br/>They have a very simple menu including omelette<br/>butter jam, sandwiches at very affordable prices.<br/>According to me it was a very interesting place with people of all ages enjoying good food !
Harmanpreet Singh
One of the oldest South indian restaurant,They serve really good food,Place is crowded most of the time but service is quick,Pocket friendly prices.<br/>Dosa's are one of the best,Soft idli and crisp vada.Coconut chutney is delicious.Overall a family friendly place but they need to work on their hygiene<br/>Taste 4/5<br/>Quality 4/5<br/>Hygiene 3/5<br/>Service 3.5/5
Tastebud Siblings
One of the oldest restaurants of chandigarh , which remained same in means of interiors and staff with no pen paper/ or any machine in their hand to take the order. The ambience is still same as that of 90's.<br/>It is a lively place to hangout. One can find people of every age group over their enjoying mostly dosa n coffee with their friends and relatives. Quality of their food is constant.<br/>We had a lot things from their menu.<br/>We just love coffee specially hot coffee, masala dosa, sambhar vada, veg cutlet with butter bread, n sweet french toast.<br/>All of them is a must try.<br/><br/>Ps: follow us on Instagram and facebook too.
Gurbinder Singh
Great food and ambiance. It reminds of an 90’s era and the hospitality is quite warm. The price of the dishes are quite reasonable for the people. GREAT PLACE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Swarna Gupta (foodismfoodie)
Very bad experience, indian coffee house has never amazed me neither with the taste of the food nor with the service, staff is rude too.I have ordered egg uttapam and they serve me egg dosa when i asked that u have given me wrong order, the waiter started arguing with me and was not even ready to change the order.hot & cold coffee both are not good.dissapointed
Amy Walia
The 4 star rating is only for the reason that we can cherish our old memories over here... nothing has changed much.... you can see senior citizens and youth both at this place... and if we talk about food it’s not up to the mark...and visiting this place with old friends is a blessing...and i love when during rush hours they mix water in sambar.... it’s their routine job 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Karan
One of the best restaurant to have South Indian Food, totally loved the place, food and price. The place is a bit old, and mostly you will see retired people, enjoying there day and re-living their old days, which personally made me happy. Service is a bit slow, and during rush hours one might have to wait for the seat.<br/><br/>What I had -<br/><br/>1. Butter Masala Dosa<br/>2. Cold Coffee<br/><br/>ConsPros Ratings -<br/><br/>Taste - 5/5<br/>Value for Money - 4.5/5<br/>Ambience - 4.5/5<br/>Service - 4/5<br/><br/>Highly Recommended

The coffee and Dosa from here is worth trying.. The prices are super super reasonable... When craving some south Indian food this is one of the best places to go to

It looks like a place where you’d find Jai Veeru sitting having there everyday supper. The place looks like a paradox. It’s old but different than others and hence a new experience at the same time. It was crowded but that was the vibe and I could actually hear their stories. Talking about the food, I got a dosa ( it was literally on every table and I didn’t want to be an outcast) and mango shake with it for some reason. The food arrived sooner than I’d expected and the food was goooood. So was the shake. Loved the sambhar. Definitely will visit again. This place tells stories.
Tari Bajwa
I visited Indian Coffee House with my colleagues. It was very old & nice Cafe. It is situated in the heart of Chandigarh. Its very economical. Staff was very well dressed & professionals. I ordered cod coffee & masala dosa. Its very delicious.
Jaspreet Kaur
What can I say about this place! Those who are from the tricity, know that Indian coffee house is the pride of Chandigarh. I have been going there from the past 25 years and the taste hasn't changed a bit. Although the interiors are nowhere near the fancy eateries that we see today, this place has all my heart. Try their dosa, uttapam and sambar vada ; not to forget the mutton cutlet which is my personal favorite.
Aayushi Saini
One of the oldest and the best chains being run. Be it here in Chandigarh or back at my native place, the ambience never disappoints me. Love the coffee and the Uttapam my basics everytime I go there 😊
Chirag Kundra
Indian Coffee House is one of the prestigious and oldest places in Chandigarh. They serve amazing dosas and their cold coffee is strong enough to make you wide awake. Their quality is satisfactory. Must try out masala dosa and cold coffee!
Mohinder Goyal
This is a place to serve well but staff is not all friendly. Also the taste of the food is not upto the mark. Only bread butter or bread jam is fine but the taste of coffee, dosa n other things is pathetic.
Ankit Aggarwal
One of the oldest restaurant in the city beautiful. You visit every time and the ambience remains the same i.e. 1980’s. <br/>The food is decent but the service is bad. Overall, it brings back the good old childhood days in Chandigarh so I would visit this place again and again. <br/>Keema dosa, sambhar idli or vada are good to try here.
Vishal Malik
It's very old cafe cum restaurant. The food is cheap, good and hygienic. They have limited items but are good. The waiters can be seen clad in whites and the ambience makes you feel like you are siting in restaurant in 60s or 70s. The place has lots if loyal customers most of them being old people. I tried Special Coffee and Cheese Omlette both were nice. Only issue I have is that they can upgrade themselves a little bit like with furniture and floorings, vintage look is a different thing and basic infrastructure is other. Overall good experience. Should be tried by people.
Nimish Gangrade
Let’s get real. The service isn’t good. I am even doubtful about the hygiene since it’s not all rosy in the dining area, not sure what would be the scene in kitchen. The waiters have no time to entertain your for even an extra second. They won’t even bother to tell you what’s on the menu as the menu is hanging inside the restaurant which is only visible from a few tables. Lucky if you get a place to sit since the usual people are sitting for hours over a cup of coffee. Feels damp and dark inside.<br/><br/>Hunt for your own place since no one will bother to get you seated.<br/><br/>Would be highly appreciative if people post what they see rather than posting in line with the past comments.
Sachin Narang
This quaint, value-for-money cafe will take you back to the good old days. The menu is quite broad with a plenty of snacking options and beverages. We tried veg hotdog, mutton burger, masala dosa, idli and vada sambhar, paneer pakoda, and coffee. Everything was up to the mark. The place seems hugely popular, as it was jam packed with guests (both young and old) in late afternoon. Recommended!
Shambhavi Mishra
A decent way to kick start your day.<br/>Hygiene-5/5<br/>Taste- 3/5<br/>Ambience is classic 80s.<br/>We ordered<br/>cheese omelette-4/5<br/>Paneer dosa- 4/5<br/>Hot and cold coffee- I think it's filter coffee! No clue would rate 3/5.<br/><br/>
Naveen Kumar
This used to b to go place but has lost the taste part now.although the taste is still somewhat same but the portion served is reduced.had sambar vada there today although sambR still tasted same but was not enough to dip the vada properly.
Saloni Grover
That was my worst experience... i had heard a lot about indian coffee house... but it was my bad luck that i ordered 4-5 things and all of them were soo bad that i had to leave almost everything .... i could not eat even half of every dish i ordered... and i ordered them one by one... so dont feel that o ordered too much food and i couldnt eat it... i ordered one thing ,it was bad and this hapened with all the items... the only veg thing i didnt try was dosa... maybe it would be good , i have heard about it, but till than i was so frustrated that i left and i would never visit it again because that place stinks
Sakshi Handa
This place has really become a luck by chance thing. One time sambhar it too good.. next time its stale and hence over heated. First uttapam is too good, second serving of the same is over cooked. Many other examples in the list. So best of luck
Aastha Sharma (the_grub_tales)
Seems like a whole different world.🥰<br/>As they say, new is diamond but Old is GOLD!🎀💫<br/>I could feel the vibe, I could feel the warmth the place still has.<br/>A place where you don’t need to be digitally equipped, all you need to is some ‘me time’<br/>Looking at the old by age, young by heart generation of Chandigarh.<br/>I can spend days sitting there and observing.<br/>It’s good to have such ancient yet amazing places around in Chandigarh!
Puru Jain
Visiting this place give us a nostalgic feeling of good old days..<br/>Though Located in the posh sector 17 market this place does not drill hole in your pocket as the dishes are very economically priced considering the taste and food quality.<br/>The only negative is that the place needs a little basic upgrade on the Ambience..<br/><br/>Must have- Mutton Hot Dog..
Swati Sharma
I wish I had clicked pictures from this place. Even though food preparation was average, this place has sort of an old world charm to it. We ordered following<br/>- butter masala dosa - 3/5<br/>- vegetables cutlet - 2/5<br/>- coffee - 2/5<br/>- roohafza milk - can you really go wrong with this one?!<br/>All in all, I wasn't as impressed with food. However, my fiance took me here because he wanted to tell me stories of how he used to go there as a college kid and relive those times in a way and I guess that's what keeps you coming back to places such as these which might have been superb once upon a time. I used to often visit indian coffee house in CP, Delhi as a kid with my grand dad and probably would go again despite the state of food that is served there now. So that review is due when I go there!
Neha Aggarwal
This is one of the best place is Chandigarh. Located at the heart of city, easy to locate and bug in. Ambience gives you feel of old times and food is definitely good. I specially love the dress of attending people.
Gupta.deepshi44
My favourite place to hangout with friends and family both! There is something about this place that makes u feel at home! Perfect place to enjoy light, fresh and yummy food! We ordered the cold coffee- always get their cold coffee, its amazing! <br/>Mango shake- it was very tasty just like homemade. Cheese omelette- which was definitely very delicious. And lastly the mutton cutler- which was okay, wouldn’t re is to try that! <br/>Alll in all the food is great as well as the value pf money u get here is exceptional!
Vageesha Bahel
My Family's favorite place to hang out in Sector 17. This place has a very vintage feel to it. In a city like Chandigarh that is hard to find. It is an outlet that has great south Indian food and superb coffee. Not your regular coffee outlet yet this is a must visit for all.
Sehaj Walia
Who isn't aware of this place.<br/>Authentic south Indian dishes at affordable prices. Whenever I crave for a decent masala dosa or sambar Vada, this is the go-to.<br/>Though the ambience won't excite u much, but food will make u come here ones in a while.
Ashdeep Sandhu
One thing is for sure that for authentic South Indian food its the place. The butter masala dosa is just mesmerizing.... Do try it for sure, filtered coffee is a great accoumpniment with it. But don't try utpam here.
Sarthak
Not a good ambience.. No Ac, staff dress was not clean.<br/>We ordered Dosa and coffee. I would tell that i have never ever tried such a bad coffee like this. Moving to dosa, it was oily and we ordered 3 dosa but gave only one bowl of chutney 😂.<br/><br/>Overall not that good as compared to other Indian Coffee shops.<br/>Rates are rs5-10 higher than other branches.<br/>Needs a lot of improvement.
Nimrat Bedi
A good pocket friendly affordable place<br/>Its a place for everyone<br/>Decor is like 90s as well as waitors dresses<br/>Food is good<br/>I had<br/>Masala dosa 4/5<br/>Veg cutlet 5/5<br/>Veg hot dog 5/5 ps its deep fried<br/>And moat imp thing to have here is coffee<br/>Highly recommended<br/>
Arjit Saraswat
Not exactly the go-to place for a family outing or a friends get-together, this is a must-visit for it's authenticity.<br/><br/>Ambience: Mostly crowded, it's not very peaceful or comforting. But it is somewhat nostalgic.<br/><br/>Service: The staff, although not too polite or courteous, is very fast.<br/><br/>Food/Drinks: The south indian cuisine is worth a try. Vada Sambhar is a must-have. It's hard to recommend a good dish from the rest of the menu. Cold Beverages are avoidable, but you can try the filter coffee.
Abeer Sharma
This place is an epitome for value for money. Every Chandigarh citizen has visited place not once but multiple times. I being no different have spent many good moments at this place during college times. However, it would be good if they improve the customer experience a little.. especially the seating. No one would mind shedding a little extra for a better overall experience. Today, I had Idli, bread omelette and mutton cutlet. All good considering the price :)
Srishti Jain
Their butter dosa is literally immersed in butter. Tried their french toast too. It was one of the best I've had- simple and delicious.<br/>Summers are a little troublesome here due to lack of air conditioning facilities. In spite of that, the place has its own charm.<br/>Must visit- not just for the feels, but also for the good food.
Anmol Jain (Foodie_jaini)
I visited this place last weekend due to 2 reasons i.e.<br/><br/>1) It is very near to my office<br/><br/>2) I had read some good reviews about it on zomato and heard from my colleagues as well<br/><br/>Unfortunately, I didn't had a good experience :(<br/><br/>About the ambiance - The place is old with wooden and leather chairs, No ACs even, staff is good but there dress were not clean :(. Place can be upgraded with the change in time.<br/><br/>About the food - Tried the Masala Dosa  - The dosa was very oily. The filling was more of onion big chunks, i was more like Onion Dosa than a Masala Dosa. I requested for Tomato Ketchup for which they charged 15Rs extra , the problem is the taste of sauce which was not good at all.<br/><br/>Overall not a good experience at all. Will try again with hope of better future !
Ashmita Ahuja(Brunch Babe)
For the love of Filter Coffee and Dosa. <br/>South Indian food tops the list of my favourite kind of regional foods. <br/>Indian Coffee House is the place where my mom and dad used to catch up in lunch time amidst the working hours long back! <br/>Hence, this place has a special interest for me apart from the food from the classic era!
Simona
Yes this place is an old one with lot of crowd but after I visited I didn't find the food to be even close to tasty. The dosas are not prepared aptly not even roasted properly. Coffee and cold coffee you would fee like you are given directly coffee and sugar mixed in water. Only thing I liked was meds vada. Due to its years people are still going there but for the first timer like me it's a complete no no to try the second time. Sorry
Doly Khurmi
Nice place to eat. Mostly South Indian food is in the menu, but a few of all day breakfast things like bread butter, bread omelette and snacks like paneer pakoras etc are available too. It is pocket-friendly and good at taste. It is one of the busiest places in the town. Good for visit with friends and family both. Good staff and sitting.<br/>Overall a good place to eat, which is pocket-friendly and taste buds-friendly.👍
Komal Arora
Tbh i’m not at all a dosa person but i’ve heard about their keema dosa alot so once i was roaming in sec -17 with my mum and we decided to go there and had the same and it was delicious!<br/>Plus at that price a mutton dosa? Haha jackpot! <br/>I am surely gonna eat this dosa again and again!!!! 😻<br/>Just the seating arrangement could be better
Kevinsinghofficial
When it comes to affordable deliciois meals....this is the place to go...stepping into this place feels like that i've gone back in time...their vintage ambiance and decor is a unique thing about them....<br/>Coming to food.<br/>The food tastes good and best part is that it is affordable....i recommend thie masala dosa and coffee....and i highly recommend this place.
Herry
A place different from all same restaurants...provide food with taste and hygiene on low budget. Perfect place to visit with family and friends✌
Jabez Philip
Low on budget but still hungry ? They will serve you the best for your money in the most hygenic way and with a smile. Never have I found it empty, you are transformed to the nineties with the whole ambience, the menue printed on the black board, the old waiters bustling away happily and even the cash machine is the old type. Loved it. Always love it. Good for groups and family too.
Himala Sharma
The best ,the most authentic South Indian food one can get In Chandigarh. I will recommend to have PANEER dosa , idli ,uthpam and vada .All and all a great family place .
Shubhkarman Kahlon
Amazing place. Typical Indian feel. Crowded, humid, clamorous, averagely hygienic, cheap. Cheese omelette and filtered coffee are great. Adequate meals.
Vikramjit Singh
Zero taste unhealthy food..i had worse food in my life. If you wants to spend much time stay there...then you can go..because no body will ask or excuse... Because the staff don't care..as this company is public sector
Avikant
Nice simple place to have breakfast or simple evening snacks. I tried their masala dosa, uttapam and Cold coffee. Dosa and uttapam were good and coffee was okayish.
Nirali Desai
Standard menu that we have here!<br/>Masala dosa, Rooafza milk and Paneer Pakad and they never go wrong with it. Another unique thing I've seen here is no waiter will write down your order. They note it down in their minds!!!
Nishant Dhir
One of the oldest place im Chandigarh which i am visiting since my childhood. The place has remain to same till time. With a friendly staff and no change in taste, this place reminds you of the old times. Its one of the oldest cafe in town. Things you can try are coffee, dosa, hot dog, omlet, idli, sambar, dosa etc.
Tara Sharma
This place is more nostalgia and less food. Their mutton dosa is really nice with the coconut chutney although the sambhar could be improved a little. <br/><br/>The mutton hot dog, bread omelette are good too. Service is too quick even if the outlet is completely full. Only wish they’d upgrade the place a little, it demands maintenance now.
Kabir Sharma
Indian coffee house is one of the most social places in India. Even the shimla outlet is amazing. The ‘chehal pehel’ is what makes it great. The food is also good enough. It’s not a fine dine but it’s nice.

Best! I love the food buffet- you can tell they always use the freshest ingredients.<br/>I especially love the butter Masala dosa and cold coffee this place is a haven for vegetarians. My friends who ate French toast absolutely loved it too.

Been eating out in the Tricity for last 20 years and every-time I visit Indian Coffee House I promise myself not to return again. But due to some circumstances I land up here every couple of years, forced to eat, regret and again swear not to return. I think this place is still in business because of the Location, Cheaper prices, Vintage value & Loyal old-customers (employees of banks/offices in Sec 17 who have been eating there since ages)<br/><br/>Food/Taste 1/5  The first thing we ordered was hot coffee but it was just warm and one of the worst I would have had in my life, nowhere close to the expected south Indian filter coffee, sugar is provided separately so by the time you drink it, its just warm & sweet brown water.  Items on menu are mostly South-Indian but they too taste much below average. The dosa is small compared to any dosa, always soggy, Idly is sour, sambhar is bland, the watery coconut chutney is bad, the ketchup they give is mostly kadu/pumpkin sauce. The only saviour could be pakora/cutlets, not tried the hot dog, burger or the non-veg stuff. The place is only good if you want fill yourself up or are into unconscious eating.<br/>Ambiance 1/5  A vintage experience, carries you to the 50s / 60s era, the furniture, walls & people are actually old and they also dress the same way. Other than that the place is crowded, noisy, crammed (weekends) & with uncomfortable sitting. I could see water/desert coolers being used to cool the place in hot & Humid July.Value (for money) 2/5I can go to the dingiest of alleys to eat good/tasteful food and I have eaten South-indian food from roadside vendors and that is so much better. For South Indian Karthik, Sector 47 offers so much better value for similar prices and will any-day prefer Sundram, Sector 26 though it's a bit more pricier.<br/>Service 1/5  On this weekend we had to wait 15-20 minutes before the waiter/server came to ask for the order and further 20-25 minutes before it was served. They don't note the order on notepad  so they forgot to bring one dish for which we had to wait another 15 minutes. The waiter/server are mostly old, who bear a grudge on their faces, you feel like you are at place where you are provided free food and they are doing you a favour by serving you. As they old, you accept their attitude.<br/>Hygine 2.5/5  The water glasses were oily, the cutlery was okay, didn't see the bathroom but their wash-basin is located at a dark and dingy corner and it had no water in the tap later, though it was there where I washed my hands initially.

Amazing south indian food at a very reasonable price. You will just have to wait for your table but the wait is worth.<br/>Special dishes :-<br/>For vegetarians - Paneer Masala Dosa , Idli Sambhar<br/>For non vegetarians - Mutton Dosa<br/>Heaven of taste in the shopping arcade of sector 17. Go visit with your friends and family

Just like some old Indian movie set....the style they carry is kinda retro reminder. Food served is on an average level....yes the rates also go accordingly. Still for a change can be tried. Not a fancy place to hangout.....just an option for your hunger.

The Indian coffee House , our favourite place to enjoy food at minimal prices with good quality of food . We use to hangout there for more than 10 years .Interior use to give you feeling the aura of independence ..staff is also nice .. Being in Chandigarh ,it's must to go to The Indian Coffee House.<br/>My order was Normal Hot coffee with two types of Pakoras as Mix Veg Pakora and Paneer Pakora .Both was very freshly prepared and of best taste.<br/>

It's one of the oldest cafe in Chandigarh. But the condition is really not that good as expected. It's almost impossible to sit there in summer. I used to love their dosa but the quality has reduced. I hope they'll work on improving the restaurant and food.

Amazing mutton dosa! Even the mutton cutlet and the cold coffee were great! The whole experience was nostalgic, definitely a go to place when you’re in Sec 17.

When you are here ,you got to try their different varieties of Dosa be it Masala , Plain , chicken or Mutton Dosa. Also, the best part about this place is it's quick service and cheap price.
