This restaurant is located inside Taj Connemara, a hotel housed inside one of the oldest standing British buildings in Chennai.
The number of seats is sufficient with respect to the volume of crowd it caters to, but if the rush is a bit much, I doubt how well it will be able to manage the situation.
You get a nice view of the pool from the restaurant.
The dinner buffet left a lot to be desired. For the price charged (2360 inclusive of GST), the variety and standard of food wasn't of that level. The quality was good though.
The breakfast buffet was great. The quality, variety, and spread of the dishes was sufficient, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
The staff are really humble, prompt, and well-trained. They take good care of the patrons. Special shout-out to G Bhaskaran. He was a wonderful host.
I also had grilled fish for lunch, which was good.
This restaurant located inside Taj Connemara has a great ambience and chic interiors with an old world dinning feel. I had dinner and brunch here while staying at the property (no brunch buffets due to Covid restrictions) but the variety of food was good. Service was quick and extremely family friendly, we asked for some custom orders for my kiddo and the staff was very helpful. South Indian options and western food option alike were delicious- one of the best French omelettes out there, no kidding(hats off chef!). Nice view of the pool and outdoor seating options available. Big thanks to servers Bhaskaran and Arvindhan and the restaurant manager Anish who extremely courteous and welcoming, would love to come back!
Breakfast at the Taj Connemarra is always a highlight of our visits to Chennai. Mr Bhaskar provides personalised service to a very high standard and the range of food is exceptional. My wife eats by “themes” - only “regional” one day, then “exotics” the next day, and “all-in” on subsequent days. Very enjoyable and entertaining!! (A major cyclone is hitting now so the atmosphere rating is a bit low!!)
I wish I took more pictures of our lunch and dinner. The food is so fresh and they worked with me to accommodate my nut allergy. Service is top class. Special thanks to Baskaran who greeted us every morning.

Taj Connemara is my favourite luxury hotel after this visit the hotel is very classy, the lighting is perfect. I feel better than Westin chennai. My mobile doesn't get the internet connection, and I was enjoying to the mild music and ambience. The verandah restaurant is having a pool side view. By the time of my visit, there was a festival #masalaklub was going on and I tried the following items on my visit
1)The complimentary papad basket I can't feel the oil in papad, it'scrispy and perfect. Yeah I finished it all by myself
2)Sarson ke phool the broccoli marinated with curd and spices and char grilled to perfection
3)Gulkand rasmalai - it's having the perfect flavour and texture. And sweetness of gulkand and mild sweetness of rasmalai goes well
4)Moong daal halwa it's my first time trying this kind. It's quite hot, can feel moong dal ofcourse , it's topped with rich nuts. I really loved it
5)Cardamom kulfi try it only if you are a cardamom lover.personally didn't like it much because I don't like cardamom. But it's rich and flavourful
On top of all the presentation is creative, which you can totally expect from a star hotel.
My rating is based on the fact that, assuming you don't care about the money coz it's a five star property.
So I'm not discussing about the value for money, the food is having very rich flavour with the quality ingredients.
Had an amazing breakfast at the Verandah during my stay at the Taj Connemera. Bhaskaran and team provided excellent service. The food was delicious.
I wonder how I managed to miss out on this place all these years! The buffet was an absolute delight and so was the service and ambience. We were there for a birthday and our waiter surprised us with the most amazing cake at such short notice. Absolutely worth the experience.

In case you are not a Chennaite, the Connemara itself is iconic and has been around for over a century. The Verandah is so quiet that you forget the fact that you are right at the heart of Chennai city. Service was good (Mr. Baskaran gets a special mention as he went above and beyond wrt service). Overall, a pleasant experience.
he food in #TheVerandah is great in all timings and no complaints, Staffs are extremely courteous esp Yuvaraj who did good care. The spread is different for Breakfast and Lunch on the same day
