Treat your loved ones to a night out at Teppan, this traditional Jap spot situated in TTK Road, Alwarpet. Start by hitting the counter for fresh and thick slices of Salmon Sashimi, before moving on to their signature Maki Rolls – from prawn to unagi and crab meat. The addictively crispy Ebi Tempura are a must-try too. Add this hidden gem to your list of must-visit sushi spot for special occasions.
Teppan is arguably most famous for their Nigiri Moriawase Edo, which is perfectly executed. You get a good ratio of sashimi to rice, good texture, and flavours that meld together amazingly. The nigiri sushi is top-notch as well. Think extremely fresh slice of assorted raw fish on well-seasoned sushi rice. Their Signature Nigiri Moriawase Edo literally tastes like the ocean, with uni, ebi, suzuki and tobiko.
One bite and it is evident that the Sashimi Moriawase Edo is super fresh, with the delicate, well-cut slices of fresh Tuna, Salmon, Cuttlefish and Eel simply melting in your mouth. They do Sashimi Moriawase Edo stunningly well, but that comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
Try their Naruto Maki - the pieces of fish are so lightly seared that they just melt in your mouth. DIVINE.
You'll be spoilt for choice on Ebi Tempura. Neatly deep fried and served in a pop art style, golden brown and lightly crisp prawns are so gorgeous that you'll find it hard to discard. This light and delicious Ebi Tempura will leave you full and satisfied.
The Pink Dragon Maki) featuring incredibly fresh and tender shrimp tempura, smoked salmon and cucumbers are inside the roll topped with sliced avocado and slathered in a savoury Japanese mayo.
We tried premium sea food menu. We liked the scallops , lobster ,ebi satori sarada salad , and their maki . Nice ambience and nice food.
So good. Worth every rupee. I come here all the time.
I have always had my reservations with Japanese food ... So this restaurant was not on my list ... I have visited Benjarong quite a few times but never dared to go upstairs ..
Couple of weeks back i took a chance and i am glad i did ... The live grill experience was different and good .. The soba noodles was so soft and the food taste great as it is served right into ur plate out f the grill ...
The chef was courteous that he accommodated our request like adding eggs to the noodles and giving us a separate curry mix to make the noodles more spicy... Great service ... The chicken was as soft as it can get ...
Note : we were the only customer at the restaurant to get such service. Not sure how it will be with the complete table occupied in front of the grill :)
Amazing ambiance, amazing sushi, and easy to get a table even on a Sunday afternoon.
Also, easily accessible. It is bang on the main road.

The food and hospitality was great... The entire team was very polite and accomodating... It was great to know they have pure veg station.. They made us feel really special.. The head chef June did an awesome job.. The food elevates your taste buds. .. And the entire dining experience is so emmersive that you forget the outside world and just enjoy the food.. Guess that's what restaurants are supposed to do.. And Teppan did a fantastic job at that.. Thanks for everything.. :)
Amazing food, ambiance is great and great service. Even though I will like to see more variety of option. Lighting could be improved and desert are not much
My daughter and I came in for an early lunch. We chose to sit at the live counter and we ordered a meat set meal, chicken ramen and a tofu starter.
My set menu was absolutely superb. The salad n prawns roll were amazing. Since my daughter struggled with her ramen, heavily loaded with chicken, veggies, tofu, we switched the main courses. She ended up having my fish and rice. And she loved both. The tofu was smooth and tasty as well but the soy sauce was shockingly salty. Maybe because of that I could not really relish ramen soup. It tasted very mild, but my daughter liked it.
The staff and chef get full points for hospitality. They had ready smiles and complied with my requests immediately.
Will definitely come again and again and again.

Verdict 👩⚖️ - As this was my first time at teppan, I chose the preset menu and was not disappointed.
The meal started off with a grilled chicken salad with spicy mayonnaise. The chicken was crumb fried and mixed with thinly sliced vegetables and was amazing.
Ebi Ten Maki classic prawn tempura rolled with sushi rice and nori sheet had a hint of sweetness at the centre, served with wasabi. Had a crunchy outer layer a good option for those who are just trying out Japanese cuisine.
(P.S wasabi is super spicy for some people)
Miso shiru with chicken a sort of a palate cleanser, the soup is served right before main course. It's light and flavourful.
Chicken leg meat, beef tenderloin and chicken and egg fried rice, the chicken and beef are tossed with an array of vegetables and soy sauce. It might not appeal to all palates, the fried rice was bland but tastes good when you mix it with the sauce from the meat.
Desserts - The desserts of the day are served.

One of the best sushi I have had in a while! Other things noteworthy is their lamb and the burnt garlic fried rice. Their live grill is a visual treat and so much fun! The staff are very polite and courteous. The ambience was perfect, be it a large gathering or a private dinner.
This is one of the best destination for Japanese food .I had tried pink dragon sushi and salmon and crab sushi which were so damn delicious. The starter fish skewers was so good that it just melts into your mouth. And the best part is the live cooking of the main course sticky rice , the chef prepares it in-front of you with so much magic and love!. Definitely the mocktails were also mentionable , the purple lychee boba , the cold coffee and wild berries shake . This restaurant is definitely a must try spot and especially its a really fun place for family gatherings and friends meet up!! Their service was excellent!!

I ordered miso soup, spicy avocado maki, omurice (out-of-menu item) and tried both rose & litchi and yuzu ice creams. Exemplary service and delicious food. Gochisousama!
We had order Japan meet India platter which included Maki, Sashmi and Nigiri. We enjoyed the food but not delectable as Japanese food at Oyama. I felt Oyama was better.

The ambience is great and food, specially shake salmon salad, sushi maki and silken tofu were amazing. Service is prompt, polite, friendly and goes extra mile. I had forgotten my sling bag with wallet and valuables and at their closing hour when they found it they called me up from information within the bag and i reached in next 20 minutes to pick it up. Everything was in tact and i enjoyed being there. Cant wait to visit again and try other things.
Ps: If you are allergic to shell fish let the staff know and they will help out with the menu about ebi and other things.
The one Japanese cuisine base restaurant that i seem to ALWAYS come back to. It's service environment and food are perfect for people who are completely alien to a food culture that is universally perceived as intimidating. Absolutely love the food too. Authentic, aesthetically pleasing and soul satisfying all while being feather light on the gut.
Hands down the best and most fresh Sushi we have ever had in Chennai. I've been to many places but nobody served such fresh Tuna! I was floored. We had the nigiri platter which was nothing short of amazing and I highly recommend it 🤌🏻
We also tried nikku maki which had tenderloin which was a bit dry but we were told it was because of the meat and if it was with fish, it wouldn't be so and we were offered some to taste just so we could see the difference!! Mr. Prabhu was wonderful and made out experience even better :)
A long time wish of eating at a Teppanyaki restaurant is fulfilled!
The meat lover maki was a delight, Yaki Tori was my favorite ( the spicy sauce was other worldly). For the main course, we got to experience the teppanyaki style.
Majid did a excellent performance and the prawn + egg fried rice was super delicious .
Highly recommend this restaurant!
