Traditional old restaurant in Chennai and with simple menu and the restaurant closes by 4:00 pm.Its normal simple non veg food you get with traditional style in it.The custard caramel and the ambience can not be missed
If at all u have separate bucket list for biryani.. this one is must try.. as far as I know it's one of the few places which does not use the biryani essence.. u can find a lot of whole spices that give that unique taste.

Had a plate of biryani earlier this week and I must say, it's one of the better places in Chennai where you can get top quality biryani under 150 bucks.
The caramel custard is also a must try dish. Do NOT fall for the waiter's plea of tasting Halwa over the Custard. The latter isn't up to the mark.
Located below the architecturally beautiful YMCA building, Ninan's is God knows how old. In and around that area Ninan's has spacious and comfortable seating. Very old building but very well maintained.
For obvious reasons I always order Mutton Biriyani. The meat never disappoints, its always well cooked and soft just how I love it. Fish fry (vanjiram fry) is superb one of their signature dishes. According to friends Chicken Biriyani was great too. Serves only in porcelain plate As often as I've visited, there's no change or compromise in their taste and quality. For that I would totally recommend this place. Quick service. Quantity of the biriyani is the only drawback. Great presentation. Nominal prices.
tasty food and great pricing. can be tough to get a full table to yourself if its very busy..have been there a couple of times. the restaurant is almost an institution having been in that location for almost 56 years. Caramel custard is too good.

My favourite place to have a quick lunch when I am at work. It's in the ground floor of the YMCA building on NSC Bose Road opposite to High Court. The non veg meal is value for money. The chicken 65 and fish fry is good. Caramel Custard is a must. I give 4.5 as they are best in what they serve.
I am a regular to this place for lunch. There fish curry and rice is very good. Basically functionally very good for a quick lunch. But the star of this place is the caramel custard.....yummy. Must go just for that.
Nostalgia hit me hard, I remember going to this place with my dad as a kid I remember how this place was, amazingly they have preserved the ethnicity and also the food is slightly different from the regular commercial restaurants
Feels over-priced for the quality and quantity. The meals were portioned right with rasam and buttermilk served in little bigger than a shot glass. Salt and spice levels and even the sweetness in the caramel custard was just right.
Heritage site, historic outlet and warm experience. Food was more than average. But the calm, relaxed and nostalgic experience while munching on some classic dishes and desserts makes Ninans Restaurant worth visiting. The pictures on the walls and the eyes of the old person sitting on the counter will make you feel the sweet weight of history of this place. Must visit if you are looking for that Old Madras experience.
Homely food. Veg and non-veg options available. The place has been around for ages... Remember eating here some 35 years ago. Under 1000 for 3 persons with lots of food. Fish and chicken 65 we're good. Not oily. The meals was simple but tasty.
A Nice Cosy place which has been around for a very long time.The service and food is very good.
Good hospitality. Worth for money. Hotel is very neat and employees are soft and approachable. It is in front of Madras High court so lunch time will be little rush mostly. But night time it was calm and peace. In lunch , rice and chicken curry is must try. You will get a home food taste in all food varieties. Parking place also available on side roads. Ninan cafe is located in the YMCA building. It is theme with white colour. Easy to catch . Must try once
A unique experience, frozen half century ago. Pleasant staff, with personal involvement to customers, a very nice menu, long forgotten delicacies.
The classic Kerala red rice along with veg and non veg items and sambar is a treat. One can also try Malabar parotha with chicken roast. Kethal chicken roast is an item very specific to a traditional restaurant in Trivandrum and brings back nostalgic memories for Trivandrumites who have settled in Chennai for decades.
The restaurant is set in the historic YMCA building and the tall windows with very high ceiling lends a historic touch.
One will enjoy a meal. It is right opposite High Court and adjacent to one of the exit ramps of High Court Metro Rail station.
Went there towards late afternoon.
It wasn’t crowded ( they are usually packed during lunch hours )
Got their chicken sandwich which was delicious!
And as always - amazing caramel custard.

The best in cleanness and taste . Especially fish curry with white rice any costal person remember his mom’s food .
