Good quality food. We like he sandwiches, breakfast dishes, salads and soups. We enjoy going with the kids. Good sweet and breakfast dishes but fairly small menu. My biggest frustration is fairly slow service even when we are the only ones there. Order a team and it won't come before the email.

Also for delivery through zomato they are painfully slow. It Sayles than an hour but it has taken more than 90 MI both times we've ordered. We have not had that problem with other zomato restaurants.

NEW review

This place being quite near to be, is our hangout or meeting joint.

Recently they have introduced their revamped menu and we were invited to try the same.

Located right next to The Raintree at St Mary's Road, Alwarpet, the place is already popular due to their outlet The Cupcake Company.

I like the interiors, quite classy, with lovely lightings, pastel colours, vintage poster frames on the wall. It is a small place, but I guess elite, atleast the price makes it so.

They use good quality ingredients and mostly organic stuff to prepare the food. The menu includes only veg and egg based dishes, no non veg.

We had quite a few drinks and dishes from the new menu.

BEVERAGES:
Homemade Lemonade: My usual order. I love it. At times, they make it quite concentrated, otherwise it is very good.

Lemon Iced Tea: Very refreshing.

Cookie Monster: Nothing fancy about it. Tasted good.

Banana Chocolate: Nice.

Hot Fudge Milk Shake: I liked it.

Nutella Chocolate Milkshake> Very good.

Nutella Hot Chocolate: With generous helping of Nuttela , served in a huge mug, this is a worthy beverage.

Indian Style Onion Rings : with garlic aioli. Go for this one. A better take on the kana bhajji, where onion rings are batter fried and the fritters are damn tasty. You can't stop at one.

Quinoa Tabbouleh: Quinoa with parsley, tomatoes and pomegranate: The healthy food fix, for those looking for diet fix, this works as a good breakfast or any time snack. We were in a mood to hog on, so just had a bite.

Nachos: Very good Nachos, with lovely sour cream and salsa.

Quesadilla: Mexican veggies and cheese: Crisp and fresh.

Gongura Potato Roll with curry leaf aioli : This was surprisingly delicious. Spicy, very south Indian and yum.

Elote: Mexican Corn On Cob: Simple and nice.

Egg in a hole: perfect combination of eggs cooked in the centre of a delicious piece bread topped with shallots and melted cheese. I totally loved this. Ordered again on another occasion.

Fiery Mexican Burger: Mexican Bean Patty with lettuce, slaw and charred onion served with fries. This was fine.

Tomato Basil Pizza: Thin crust pizza with good flavors.

Mushroom and Cheese Pizza: I liked it a lot.

Cream and Mushroom Spaghetti: Lip smacking.

Burmese Broth : Glutton free noodles, bean sprouts, and broccoli with peanuts. Well this comes under the healthy food category and all the ingredients speak for themselves. But it was mind blowing. A one pot meal that is enough for me as it is.

Crepe Lasagna: Crepes layered like lasagna sheets, with a herb cheese and olive oil tossed veggie filling, topped with béchamel and cheddar, baked to perfection and served with french baguette. You need to try this to believe how good it is. Creamy, and a fine example of gourmet cooking.

Desserts:

Classic Vanilla French Toast: topped with maple syrup: I love their crepes and this is a classic one.

Berry Yoghurt: with fruits, chia seeds and nuts. This was berry berry good

Tucked away in little corner of the buzzling alwerpet . This is place is must visit if u want peace n quite. Top knotch ambience and interiors that make you sometimes forget you are in chennai . Well behaved teens , cute lil couples , mom n daughter dates or a cappa by urself can be best enjoyed here .

Now for the food !
Pancakes ,waffles , pasta the list is endless for some amazing nibbles.

Top on my list is the nutellah hot chocolate tat is to die for . A huge dollop of nutellah to lick away always waits even after you finish the drink.

Perks of the place is that it's on the same campus as 'The cupcake company' who hve THE BEST CUPCAKE IN TOWN . PERIOD . Hats off to the baker who's never changed the quality since 5 years.

Small, elegant place with good decor and nice ambiance. A varied menu from multiple cuisines, French, Italian, Tex Mex and Indian, though a limited one. A nice place to get away from the hubbub of the city and eat in peace.

On the House Meal over an Invite...

Kitchen 187 Creperie and Cafe has been one such outlet which was always on my radar but being a person who is not that frequent to alwarpet locality the actual visit came after such a long time...This restaurant is neatly tucked inside a complex next to Raintree hotel on the St.Mary's road..Clubbed inside a home style building along with cupcake company...Learned that the number actually denotes the Address of the place...The place has some good parking and is well maintained and looks really good...
Its basically a outlet that serves some decent french food...

The Dining is pretty small to seat not more than 30 odd ppl...but what stands out at this outlet is neat and artistically designed ambiance...with just glass walls on 2 side which gives the outlet much needed natural light in the day..and the decor and furniture and also the cutleries give the outlet a posh look...and definitely this is the best aspect of this outlet...The service was good and friendly and also with the wide range of items ordered we did not have wait long for the food to be served...

I personally tried a few items and give below is my take on them...

Started off with some Drinks and Shakes..

Homemade Lemonade : Was the traditional good tasting Lemonade but was too concentrated which left a itchy feeling in the throat..

Lemon Ice Tea : Was Pretty average stuff..nothing special...

Cookie Monster : A Cookie Based thick Chocolate Milkshake with some crushed Cookies on top...was really chocolaty and lipsmackingly good...

Banana Chocolate : Another awesome milkshake with chocolate more predominant in taste than the banana..

Hot Fudge Milkshake : Milkshake with hot fudge mixed in pretty well and another good tasting drink...

Quinoa Tabbouleh : A Salad basically of quinoa mixed in with tomatoes and pomegranate served along with Garlic bread....was just about decent...

Indian Style Onion Rings : Onion rings deep fried in a batter given a crispy finish and topped with a bit of mayo...was good...

Nachos : The Nacho chips served along with topping of red beans...The Nacho Chips were not that great and were not edibile separately...went only along with the toppongs..

Quesadilla : With Veggies and Lots of cheese was really good...with Crispy shell and juicy and tasty filling....

Gongura Potato Roll : One of the best pics of the meal..Spicy fried potatoes in a crispy parotta kind of wrap...Really yummy..

Elote : Basically Corn on Cob...topped with Mayo...Pretty decent in taste..

Tomato Basil Pizza : Another one the great dishes of the Meal..Crispy and well cooked base topped with lots of sauce and cheese and with a hint of basil...

Mexican Burger : Decent Burger served along with fries..

Cream and Mushroom Spaghetti : Creamy and well cooked spaghetti with some good amount of mushrooms..was good in taste...

Burmese Broth : The Best of the lot as claimed by the restaurant representatives...with glutton free noodles along with lots of bean sprouts and broccoli...Was simply amazing...

Lasagna : Neatly served in a cup basically with lots of cheese and mushrooms tacked in between pasta sheets...

Classic Vanilla French Toast : The Classic french toast as the name suggests but was really awesome in taste...well cooked with perfect amount of ingredients...and the maple syrup served along with it was really good...

Ice Cream Sandwich : My first try at this item and must say wasn that impressed...The outer shell was too hard and did not really go well..

Nutella Crepe With Banana : A perfect Crepe with loads of Nutella..but i personally felt there could have a few more banana slices...

Overall the meal was definitely impressed me a lot except for a couple of items..The Pricing of the items will definitely fall of the higher end but for a few items i would say it is a decent bet..With some good ambiance and good service along with some good food Kitchen 187 will definitely be one of those spots that can well be given a shot....

Kitchen 187, a Creperie - quaint little crepe joint, is situated at the same premises as that of the Cupcake Company. 187 denotes the house number where this place is, right next to The Rain Tree on St. Mary’s Road.

This place has a very lovely and serene ambience with artistically designed monochrome patterned floor tiles, bright colored interiors and fancy cutleries. Decor is posh and totally French! We were invited for a food tasting session here. They have an amazing array of mouth-watering assortment in the form of French toasts, French Crepes, All day Breakfasts, Milkshakes, Desserts and so on.

We started off with Beverages and shakes. Being a Nutella fanatic, Nutella Hot Chocolate seemed to be a perfect choice. Three pink marshmallows were served along with the cup as an added delight. This luscious hot chocolate was a perfect warm up and wow to my taste buds. Of the other beverages that I tried, lemonade - served in a bulb shaped funky drinking glass - and Cookie monster were pretty good.

Quinoa Tabbouleh, the classic Middle Eastern nutrient-packed salad was very different to my taste buds.

Moving on to Indian bites, we did get to try Gongura Potato Roll and Onion rings. The Crunchy golden fried

Onion rings was amazing and went well with the dips. Gongura Potato Roll was so freakingly good! Andhra styled Kathi roll version stuffed with deliciously fried potatoes.

Tex Mex collection was quite a mixed bag. Quesadilla, the tasty dish that has its roots in the Mexican cuisine was delicious. Nachos tasted a little bit off.

Burmese broth, Burmese-style noodles was served from Health bowl collection. Quite different in taste, healthy and definitely worth trying. Attack with a spoon and fork while the broth is hot!

Tomato basil pizza was top class. It vanished from the plates all too quickly and that tells you how good it was.

Beautiful crepe lasagna was served in a bowl. Absolutely indulgent, amazingly creamy and yummy. We were left scraping the bottom of the bowl for whatever bit remained.

Creamy mushroom spaghetti pasta, a continental styled mushroom and spaghetti in rich creamy sauce was Okayish. Burger was pretty normal.

Moving on to the desserts, Nutella Crepe with bananas was the pick of the lot and definitely a treat for one’s sweet cravings.
Ice-cream sandwich with a harder chocolate shell and ice-cream squeezed inside was pretty good.

Overall, Kitchen 187 is just not a place to go to for its lovely ambiance, it’s more of a place where you can have sometime for yourself with really good food!

I love red! and red is the hue. Comfortable furnishings, pleasing interior decor and non-prickly lighting adds to the charm. Set inside a placid residential compound in Alwarpet, next to the Cupcake Co., with a big enough courtyard, this café envelopes itself with serenest air in Chennai. A couple of hours in here can smooth out the anxieties of your daily life.

We were a group of ten, so we were able to try many of their items in the menu. We started with drinks. I went for good old lemonade. It was served in a bulb.

Salads. Quinoa Tabbouleh. For those who don't know, Quinoa is a sub-cereal native to South America. The salad however presented an unusual combination. (Boiled?) Quinoa with parsley and pomegranate rubies. It wasn't very popular among others, but I loved it.

Indian Bites. Onion Rings were just "meh". The rock star of the day was Gongura Potato Roll. Fried potatoes spiced in a very Indian way, wrapped in a bread similar to that of Malabar Parotta. Extremely Yum! A must try. If you have Indian taste buds, they are going to thank you!

Health Bowls. Burmese Broth. Yummy soup-ish gravy with flat noodles. Loved it. Another must try.

Tex Mex. Nachos and Quesedilla. Super duper. Elote is nothing but plain old corn cob with white sauce.

Italian. Cream & Mushroom Spaghetti and Tomato Basil Pizza. Nice. Mushroom Cheese Pizza was too bland for my palate.

Burgers. Fiery Mexican Burger. Though cliché, praises to the patties.

French. Crepe Lasagna. Very nice.

Toasts. All Classic Vanilla Cinnamon French Toast. Nice.

Desserts. Ice-cream Sandwich was a googly. Nutella Crepe with Banana was the best among the desserts. Chocolate Mousse Pot With Berries & Cream was not my thing. Crepe With Fudge Sauce & Whip Cream was alright.

All this goodness comes at a dear price. But, hey, it is totally worth a visit on a special day with your loved ones.

A small, but neatly decorated place. Elegant interiors. Just like the place, the menu was limited too. We took a Nutella French Toast, Crepe with hot fudge and cream and a Mushroom/Cheese Pizza.

1) French toast was Yummm. Fat fluffy bread topped with Nutella.

2) Crepe was okay. Was too subtle for my taste buds. Could have been added more cream and chocolate sauce.

3) Mushroom n Cheese pizza was Great. Being Thin crust pizza it still filled our stomach's to a decent extent. Rich Cheese taste along with shredded mushrooms was purely magical.

Costed us 1.1k for these 3 dishes. A quite evening place with selected menu. Serves best for subtle hangouts.

I really like the setting of Kitchen 187. It gives a very languid feel and the blend of the colonial style vintage ambient with the new age brushstroke touches certainly points towards the right path. There are cafe's all over town but only some get that perfect laidback atmosphere right and Kitchen 187 falls in the affirmative. It is converted from a quaint old house and is located next to Raintree hotel in St Mary's road and it shares space with The cupcake company.

Brick walls surround the outside enclosure and on the inside is a splash of painted red walls and black sofa seating and lazy wooden chairs. The chess board style flooring adds a rather nice touch going in sync with the surrounding environment and the miniatures hanging are minimalistic and mild music is played at the background.

We were here on an invite to try out some of their offerings. We got to try various sections from their menu with different naming conventions such as All day breakfast, Salads, Sandwiches&burgers, Health bowls, Indian bites, Italia Cucina, Tex Mex, French crepes, smoothies, milk shakes, desserts, ice creams and hot&cold beverages.

The shakes and beverages were up on the mark and I personally enjoyed my Nutella chocolate milkshake having a strong essence of stirred nutella which was lip-smacking. Even the other shakes viz the hot fudge, cookie monster, nutella banana et al all were pretty good in their own sweet way. The lemonade drink in a conical shaped bottle was also quite refreshing.

In the Indian bites space both the onion rings and the Gongura potato were top notch and were stand out performers. The onion rings were crunchy and laced with a dripping of cheese and garlic aioli. The Gongura potato rolls were quite a revelation with an Andhra style mix inside a kathi roll. The salad in the form of Quinoah Tabouleh comprising of parsley, tomato and cucumbers wasn't much to speak about and on the Tex Mex side, the Nachos felt a tad too try with the cheese strangled awkwardly and but for the kidney beans by the side wasn't really too appetising. However the Quesadillas inset with mexican veggies and cheese made up more than lost ground by being remarkable. The Mexican corn on cob were pretty much your usual beach corn kinds with a mexican dressing to boot. We tried the Burmese Broth from the health bowl set and it was quite interesting. I've never tried such a thing before and I fairly enjoyed slurping this up. The fiery Mexican burger was pretty mainstream and managed to serve the purpose.

Both the pizza's we tried competed for top stakes and especially the Tomato basil pizza was one of the finest I've tasted. They nailed the spicy gravy mix which was superlative. The mushroom and cheese version was nice too. For pasta, we preferred the cream and mushroom spaghetti and though the dish was well delivered, that extra zing factor was slightly missing. The crepe lasagne was a master class and again something unique and divergent. And so was the egg in a hole under the all day breakfast category which was an interesting banter between bread, eggs and cheese. The vanilla cinnamon french toast went jocularly well with the maple syrup and the sweetened essence was tapped wonderfully.

The desserts too went in line with the high standards set by following it's predecessors. The nutella crepe with bananas is like your go to dish to satisfy your sweet cravings. Known for their crepes, it must be said they did a great job of it both on the savoury as well as on the sweetened avatars. The ice cream sandwich though hard to crack was regal and rich in taste.

The service was in adherence throughout and we never really had a long waiting time in between the items. Also they were very helpful with all our requests. Pricing is not applicable as it over an on the house. A glance at the rates would indicate they are a little on the higher side but considering the fest on offer seems a fair bet.

To adumbrate the experience at Kitchen 187, the positives far outweigh the negatives. You cannot ask for more from a place having the ideal cafe like setup with some lovely food on offer. If your quest is towards comfort and good food, Kitchen 187 will ensure to have that satisfied for you.

My sister and I had a lunch date to catch up with usual gossip. We picked this place and the place is well located with beautiful ambience and love the way they have done the cafe with red bricks and the interiors were also done well. The cafe was not full but our tummies were, food was too good. They also have a small bakery. Loved their crêpes, and sundaes. If you like a chilled afternoon casual dining try this place.
