We wanted to grab a quick bite for dinner as we were late for the movie at the Phoenix Market City. There were few restaurants like Kebabs On The Grill, Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan, Spaghetti Kitchen and The Noodle Bar. Our priority was which restaurant can serve us the food quickly. With the clock ticking, we almost decided to go without dinner but on second thoughts, we checked with the maitre d'hotel at the entrance of The Noodle Bar. He assured to serve the dishes quickly.
We grabbed the first available seats near the entrance. The ambiance was good with adequate lighting and good seating. We decided to go with only the starters, so we ordered Spicy Thai Chicken Roll, Cumin Lamb, Wasabi Prawns and Java Chicken Lollypop for four of us. To our surprise, the starters started coming in within 5 minutes. First came the Java Chicken Lollypop. Unlike other places, this dish was not dry. The chicken was well cooked with ginger and chililes and tasted really delicious. No wonder they had mentioned the dish as All Time Favorite on their menu.
Next came the Wasabi Prawns. The size of the prawns was moderate, not very small. The best of the so far ordered dishes was the Cumin Lamb. I think the lamb tasted better because of the sprinkled roasted cumin. It was really delicious. The Spicy That Chicken Roll was not at all spicy and the roll was not cooked well as it tasted like it was half boiled.
We were still hungry and so chose the Burnt Chilli Fish. The waiter said it is a gravy dish but can be cooked dry. On confirming whether it would be served quickly, we ordered it. We couldn't get the taste because it was served piping hot and since it was getting late for us, we devoured the fishes and asked for the check. One best part at this restaurant is that, all the dishes were served in white plates and the plating was perfect, inviting anyone to dig in and taste it.
Coming to the price, yeah, it is bit expensive as for 5 starters, the bill was close to 3000/- but we felt it was worth the taste and also reminding ourselves that the restaurant was in the Phoenix Market City. Would definitely return to taste their main course and desserts. Yes, it is on my recommended list of restaurants.
If you love authentic Chinese then this is the place for you. Starters are good. However, people who are used to Indian type of Chinese will not like the authentic taste just like me. Ambience is very good though. Not a bad experience.
