The place to go for authentic Gujarati Thali meals in Chennai.
The place is small and they serve only thali meals. It's the regular fare, something like the old world mess types.
If you don't look at ambience and hare happy to share your table (yes, it gets crowded) , you will enjoy the great good. Service is super fast like in any mess.
Great taste and value for money.
Wish I could rate this restaurant 10 on 5.
That’s how amazing the food is. Value for money is an apt description of a meal here. It’s business like and the efficiency with which the dal, phulka, curry and other items in the thali is impressive. The servings keep coming and there are notices urging you not to waste food.
I was proud of my empty plate and I’m sure you will too when you go there.
Happy to see places like this still exists in Chennai, serving economical thali. 2 sabzis, 1 dal, 1 chutney, curd, pickle, raw onion, roasted green chillies, mint chutney, papad, roti, rice and kichadi out of which except curd and papad everything is unlimited. They charge 110 for a thali. They do have around 3 variety of sweets 30 each you may add it to your thali if you wish.
Best place to have Gujarati food at very affordable price, I am gujju and looking for good Gujarati food in Chennai and finally I found it best place with lots of options, not very attractive place but food is best, good service, very friendly Gujarati owner, best khakhara in Chennai and all other Gujarati snacks at such affordable price. You need to visit this place if you want to try authentic Gujarati food.
Very simple place in terms of ambience. It's the food that takes the cake here. The afternoon thali is a must try. At Rs. 110/-, it's a steal. Rotis, subjis, dal, rice, curd, pickle, papad, salads...everything tastes excellent. Service is prompt. The staff have no reservations about serving any item (except curd and papad) any number of times...one can eat to one's satisfaction. And it's absolutely hygienic (though it may not seem so from outside). In a nutshell, every lunch here has been a satisfying experience for me.
One of the restaurants i frequently visit in town! Its always a pleasure to have thali at this restaurant and also they serve good breakfast(fafda Jalebi, puri sabzi and tea is my fav). For breakfast they open around 8. Go to beach on a weekend morning and come here for perfect Gujarati breakfast. Love the Basundhi and Aamrass(though its not real Aamrass). Also love the undhyo served here. A MUST VISIT!
Very simple satisfying food, much like a home cooked meal. Waiters were friendly, place is small but just enough for a small gang/table. Price for a thaali is very affordable at 110 INR. Rotis were soft, subzis well balanced all unlimited. Sweets we tried outside of meal - like rasgulla, rabdi, amras and jalebi were pretty yummy. They are at around only 30 Rs per plate.

So I went here with one of my Gujju friend. The place can be easily located with the help of google maps. They have two variants that is Sunday and non Sunday thali the difference is that in Sunday they’ve a sweet included in it. Their are also other varieties of sweets such as Aam ras, Gulab jamuns and Rabdi which are chargeable. The thali was very delicious and they serve authentic Gujarati cuisine. On Sunday they had Mohan thal as sweet which was amazing too.

The food was very tasty.
Khaman, samosa, thepla, and other gujrati sweets and snacks are also available.
Authentic Gujarati food in Chennai serving Gujarati Thali, Sweets, Snacks and desserts. The khaman and mango lassi (though on the sweeter side) I tried were heavenly and much better than what I had from various well established chains. Satisfied the cravings of someone who thoroughly enjoyed Gujarati cuisine in Gujarat for 2 years.
Food is exceptional if you like to try Gujarati cuisine.
Ambience and surroundings are very average.. but if you are a foodie you must definitely try this place.
This is an iconic hotel for Gujrati food. I visited this place after nearly 20 years. The food was fabulous. They also make sweets which are reasonable in price
