Love this place, best place to hangout with friends
Well went there for hubby's bday and had an awesome time..for kids along can get lil boring as its a quite place but we enjoyed the privacy n great food..

Ambience is very good for a dinner. A good place to spend some relaxing time with friends.Food quantity was less for the price they charge.We ordered chilly milly chicken,fish malabar tikka,spinach ravioli and red Thai curry with rice.All of them tasted good.
This place is meant for the ambience n best cocktails. I give 9/10 for service. But the recreation could hav been maintained properly. Totally a superb place to dine.

Sunday Lunch. Was taking a few foreigners for a meal - and I was not too certain if they's want to eat something Indian or Western / Thai. At the same time, I wanted a place close to the sea - and hence, Kipling Cafe / Kipling Masala.
Though listed as different places on Zomato - they are serve the food from both menu cards - wherever you choose to sit. (Ofcourse, we ordered from both places - I'll be mentioning the items from the Indian palate here)
Ambiance : This is something that the city raves about. Being a romantic hotspot with their candle light decor and a variety of dining options - open to sea breeze rooftop, top-notch airconditioned dining or the little huts outside on the ground level. Its worth the visit!
Location : Just at the Sholingnallur junction - way before the tollplaza. There's a lot of signs on the main road that will tell you which left to take.
Parking : Not within the compound - however, cars can easily park outside on the road. (It's a sparsely used alley).
We chose to sit at the sea facing roof top area - Space for 25 people or so. Beautiful setting. Was worried if flies would destroy the pleasant atmosphere - thankfully, none of that.
What we ordered :
* Prawns Tikka : Extremely soft and succulent. Nicely marinated. However, I thought the mint chutney that came with it was too liquidy.
* Stuffed Mushrooms : it's supposedly stuffed with green peas and marinated in yogurt. However, ours came with minced capsicum - I wish I had known that earlier. I din't think that the mushroom and capsicum combination went well together. Not the better of the two starters.
* Butter Chicken Masala : Tough pieces of Chicken. Though the curry was creamy.
* Yellow Dal : Loved this one. Looked like a lot of effort had gone into something as simple as this.
* Spinach stuffed with cheese and dry fruits gravy : Forget it's hindi name and I don't find it on the menu that's listed. Great flavour to it. Something different. Cheese and the Indian spices gelled well.
* Chicken Biryani : Light. Not oily. The chicken was a little tough.
* Naan : Regular.
* Gulab Jamun and Rasagulla : Three good sized pieces of each, you'd get. Soft. Not that sweet. You would not need much space in your stomach for this. Great Buys.
Cost : About a little over 3000 INR for this. I thought they were decently priced. Not one dish went over the 400 INR mark.
Service : When you are on the roof top - give them some time to bring the food up - the waiters walk up two floors as all their kitchens are at ground level.
Also, if you are the kind that pays by card - and you are not too comfortable giving the steward the PIN number, please be ready to walk down two floors to the billing counter and pay the bill. They do not have remote POS machines.
Bottomline : Except for the chicken, I thought that their dishes were excellent (and hence not a 4.5 rating)! Appealing plating. Beautiful Ambiance. Relaxing two hour meal!
Kipling masala is not any less than the kipling cafe i liked it and the food was amazing, worth trying and looking forward visit agin soon

A great place to dine in privacy..awesome environment ..cocktails and mocktails are the best over there..But food is not worth the place..a great place to visit once.
It has an great atmosphere and ambience. Food was great especially the non-vegetarian dishes. They still have to work upon the vegetarian dishes and the speed with which they serve
Great ambiance, in fact mind blowing ambiance for a date! Going in the afternoon is a bad idea given how hot Chennai can get and given that there is no indoor seating. There are cats walking around the dining area which is totally disgusting and unnacceptable!
Food tastes really great. Need to improve their vegetarian menu. They serve real slow. Minimum 20 minutes taken for each order.
Not so crowded. Place is well maintained

My wife and I decided to check out Kipling Masala during one of the weekends. The place is located on an isolated but safe stretch of road towards the seashore (it's not a seaside restaurant though!). We had read the review that Kipling's serve Continental, Thai, and North-Indian food and we specifically went out for Thai.
The ambiance was mellow and romantic, loved it! The waiters were very polite but I found the service to a little slow since we were so hungry. We ordered Mint Julep and Berry Collins to get kick started. And boy, the drinks were really topnotch.
For main course, we ordered Chicken Green Curry and Sautéed Ginger Pork. The dishes were served hot with Thai Jasmine rice. Both dishes were fantastic and the Chicken Green Curry tasted just like the ones that I had in Bangkok - spot on! We were so full by the time we had our food and drinks! The prices were just a little bit on the higher side but the dishes/drinks were worth our money.
We shall definitely check out the place again to try North-Indian and Continental dishes.

It’s a perfect date spot. They have a candlelight setup and it’s really amazing. The lighting and the ambiance is perfect 🤩 Coming to the food, we had their chicken lasagna, drunken noodles and guava punch. Honestly, loved everything ♥️ The best lasagna I ever had. Their service was also good and it was kinda a peaceful spot in a crowded area.
The food is tasty, the ambience is good, perfect for couples and lovers. I ordered beef steak, chicken BBQ, subji briyani, mutton biryani. There was a house fly in subji briyani
Great cafe to hangout with friends! Good food and good ambience! Decent vegetarian options.
We ordered mozzarella sticks which was just cheese sticks, not mozzarella for sure.
Farmers pizza was excellent with a lot of olives and cheese!
The waiters do seem to be overwhelmed on weekends, will recommend to get reservations way ahead.
One of the great cafes in ecr with ample space and seating. Rooftop is good place to book ahead. Food and drinks were good.
It's a tad bit expensive to your pocket. Romantic place. Pricing of food can be reduced a bit.
Good ambience, you can choose to dine in a hut, or under the fan. The service is a bit slow, but a great place to hang out with friends and have long coversations. Just a road away from beach, so after a long lunch, can walk it up to the beach. Green thai curry and pannacotta were both delicious!
The place has an amazing vibe . It's a perfect place to hangout with friends and family . The menu also offers a lot of variety . I recommend visiting the place more towards late evening time .

We had an amazing team lunch over here.. The service speed was above the expectations and the quality was also really good… the ambiance was silent and you will not hear any horn or traffic sound.. Great place to go on a date I guess :p Not so expensive, but bit on the higher price side only..
This is one of the must go place in Chennai. Located in the ECR side. Very nearby to the ECR beach but this cafe does not have the beach access. Overall ambience and food are great. Service is also prompt. Surely visit again.

Overall the food tasted good, especially the Tiger Prawns, Amust try one!
Just be cautious about the liquor you order, as the Beer cost is triple the price outside.
