We were tired working from morning so me and my colleagues wanted a break went to Saravana and ordered chat..we really enjoyed the chat dishes,.I totally loved bhel and paani Puri...Really had a very good break and enjoyed it to the core
The major thing i love about Saravana bhavan is the quality and standard of the food they maintain. You get the best sambar with different variety of chutneys at this restaurant. Had Ghee dosa here at this branch and it tasted great. And mini idli dipped in sambar with full of ghee made my day.
Happened to pop in here for meals on their founders day which is when they serve only special meals at a discounted rate of Rs 80...
We had to wait for a table for 20 minutes....
Upon seated we were had our leaves placed in front of us... We were served Chakkara Pongal, Vada, and Jangiri as appetizers...
Moving on to the main part of the meal, we were served two types of vegetable kootu, cabbage poriyal which had to be eaten with sambhar, dal and ghee, rasam, kaara kuzhambu and more (curd)...
Everything on the menu was exceptional.. special mention to the murunga sambhar which tasted out of this world...
Meal ended with jack fruit ice cream and bananas...
Serve was exemplary and we were never rushed though there was a hoard of people waiting to be seated..
Another special mention goes out to the server at our table, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi was very friendly and did not hesitate to fulfill our requests...He was prompt and made us enjoy the experience of proper Special South Indian meals...
Loved our experience... Worth the visit...
I like the location of the place, under the flyover.ee generally visit this place when we are in gopalapuram. You can deny the taste of soft idlis and the yummy sambar.
You can go there for simple and quick bite.
No parking
Service fine
Food good
Family restaurant
One of the Chennai's fav restaurant chain for veggies. It has a pocket-friendly combo option which includes a meal with a drink. Though it has lost the charm that had a decade ago for the taste of the sambhar. Its still one of the most popular visited restaurant in Chennai.
À lègendary chain outlet which has not only established itself in Tamil Nadu and some parts of south of India but even in the hinterlands of videsh as we know. Simple yet subtle and you can very much see how new innovative offers such a as 1+1 coffee and light meals, mini meals are showing that to survive in this age of competition one truly needs to adapt and yes they have adapted to quite an extent
Being an authentic south flavoured recipes I never indulged in eating north Indian food items at all . As it really doesn't signify or glorify in a place like this . It's like coming drinking tea in a roadside shop and asking him for a Darjeeling tea . It truly doesn't signify . Yes they do accomdate to other cusines but the speciality,/saote is south Indian .
Ardent fan of these outlets who truly survive and adapt
Went to this restaurant for Dinner, ordered Kara Dosai, Poori Masala and Ghee Roast. Kara Dosai was really amazing in taste, Poori Masala was accompanied with an additional side dish Dhal along with Potato Masala tasted good, where as the Ghee Roast was a total failure for Rs 125/- which worried me a bit, as far as me HSB stands for Quality.

We had a plain dosai and filter kaapi. The dosai was decent. The onion chutney was pretty good, as was the sambar. The kaapi was excellent.
The service was swift.
The only vegetarian hotel near US embassy. Eventhough the taste is somewhat good the food prices are too much.
Decent restaurant . price too high. Taste gud.
Hotel Saravana Bhavan has long lost its charm and awe. For me now it is the last option if there are no other places to go or if I had to finish off a quick lunch and it is the only option nearby. Their veg meals are definitely overpriced. I tried their special veg meals which had a sweet, raita and curd in addition to their regular meals. It costs Rs120 and the rice they provide is not sufficient to satiate the hunger.
Nice food. But there is no chairs available you have to stand and eat. But everything else is good. Also cold water is available
This is a famous veg restaurant, I have been eating here since childhood. For decades this restaurant is famous for its sambar ! We went here for lunch and had a set combo with a Vazlai elai virundu. The food here is simply tasty and sumptuous. An alternative to those who miss home in Chennai. Parking is near the hotel but limited space . 👍🏻✌️
As of today, you won't find Sarvana Bhavan (SB) anywhere in India or for that matter anywhere in Tamil Nadu except for Chennai. If you're visiting Chennai, having a thali at this restaurant should be #1 on your to-do list.
PS - There are a lot of SBs internationally though
A decent fast food restaurant. Food quality is okay and pricing and quantity is fine. They have adequate seating. Ambiance is okay and hygiene require attention. They have a restroom but require better maintenance. Parking is available but not friendly due to access issues. The restaurant is not wheelchair friendly.

Very decent hotel. Felt the items were a bit overpriced , but the quality makes the above claim vague. Overall loved it
Nice restaurant. You will find good variety and combos
Age old establishment serving delicious South Indian cuisine. I loved it four years ago, but during my visit six months ago, I felt somewhat dampened by the overall experience. Interiors of the establishment need to be spruced up a bit. Food quality was ok, not the mind blowing type I had earlier. Hope it improves.
