This is a trending restaurant right now because of the name it got. The food are also tastes great and it has a kids section. So you can happily eat while your kids ll be playing in kids section. The hotel looks great with traditional culture. The ambiance it so soothing and has very different south indian dishes which cannot be seen on any other restaurants. And services are also good.

Worth the money. Taste is Good. Good ambience
Madhusudhanan Sridhar
Spicy cuisine. Not on the same level as Virudhunagar, the undisputed Heavyweight, but good enough. Worth a try. Competitive pricing. Could be part of Chennai's best if it is run correctly. Recommended.

All the local food varieties like 'aattukallu', etc are served. Names of the dishes and gravies are native too. Waiter picking your order is a bit pushy. Apart from that a great restaurant.
A K N BALAJI
Ideal eatout for non veg dishes...serves chettinad, indian, tandoor, singaporean, chinese dishes as well as mocktails...at affordable rates..lots of variety in menu...offers special discounts for corporate and group bookings. Accepts advanve reservation

Very good ambiance, kids play area, traditional taste. Inji idicha kozhi is awesome. Need to try. But service is bit slow while there is crowd. Remaining all good
Haroon Rasheed
Taste was good but service was pretty slow even during week day with less crowd. Typical south Indian cuisine

My rating would have been 2 star if not for the food they served.

Craving some good naan with chicken, went to Jallikattu which is situated just behind Big Bazaar.
As first impressions go, the restaurant made a good one. The ambience was was very good with high backed sofas, soft lighting and music.

Some restaurants have started employing the dirty tactic of keeping a bottled water on each table so that the customer, fooled into believing that it is complimentary, use it and then they can be charged for it. This restaurant does that. I had previously known about this so didn't fall for it. Other patrons please beware.

We ordered chicken tikka masala with naan. The chicken was perfectly marinated with good smoky taste with the gravy complimenting it perfectly. The naam made a good pairing with it.

Whatever else problems the restaurant has, food is not one of them.

Now coming on to service. It was bad, no other word for it. When we declined bottled water and requested normal water, the waiter took his own sweet time in coming with it. As I was thirsty I finished it quickly and had to call them repeated times just to get some more water.
It took them half an hour to get the food which had only two items. It is understandable during rush hour but besideds us there was only one other table occupied which were already eating when we entered.

I had to wave my hands like a madman and call them just to get their attention. It took them additional 10 mins after frantic hand waving to get them to bring the bill. The waiting staff were just not interested in doing their job were gossiping amongst each other.

All in all, though the food was good, sometimes even that cannot offset very poor service that also during non rush hours. The management should see into this matter. Hope they improve their service.

Bon appetit!

Food tastes Good, needs little more promotions. Try giving competitions and score boards.
The ambiance can be more related with the title (Jallikattu) and Tamizh Culture., If possible make it a more like Bar come Restaurant, instead of family cuisine, Kudos Team, All the best !.

A real treat to briyani lovers. Loved the mutton briyani combo in jallikathu.karupatti halwa a must try one dessert. Nagore Burini kanji another a much try dessert.

Amazing place to go with family.. food tastes good, and service is wonderful.. they have lots of options to choose from, even for vegetarians.. this is what makes the place amazingly different
Deepak “Damo” Karunakaran
The food is good in terms of quantity, but taste wise may be a little lagging. There is one predominant flavour rather than all the compenents weighing in. You cannot taste the intricate ones, the ones that do that little something to your taste palette.
The service is good, the serve and clear quick. May be it was the time we went since it was not crowded. There were hardly few tables occupied.
The menu seems limited based on number of items. But the portion size is large. So ordering 10 dishes elsewhere is equivalent to ordering 4-5 dishes here.
The place is well maintained & clean.
Dining here is a one time trial and error thing. You may or may not like it based on your tastes.
2 Stars for the nice waiters and their service! The place is nowhere close to what they showcase online. Just another restaurant. Special dishes tasted worse than the normal ones. Our plates looked full at the end because all we got were just bones. You don't have much to choose from the menu either. Disappointed!

Located in Pondy bazar. Nice ambience but the hospitality n service was not good. They took almost 30 minutes or more to bring the starters. We had ordered unlimited non veg meals
And jalikattu 65 biryani food was good and chettinad carb was at its best jus like home made and overall price was decent.

After a tiring weekend shopping, me along with my friend started searching for some nice restaurant. Had a quick phone call with my foodie friend and he suggested two restaurants out of which Jallikatu was our pick. Located right behind big bazar this place can be easily spotted with the help of Google maps.

We ordered hot and sour chicken soup. Never i have ever seen that much chunks of chicken in a soup. But the soup tasted little blant and i had to add pepper and salt to make it really hot and sour. The waiter suggested to try their naatu kozhi peratal which actually tasted different from our typical masala chicken curry. Chicken 65 biriyani tasted good and the portion was also huge. My friend had non veg meals and felt fish curry was way to spicy and mutton curry was just okay.

The interior looked spacious and also, the place was not packed when we stepped in. Parking could be a problem here. The staff who attended us was friendly. We also got to know from him that, they are about to start buffet from next weekend.

Food - 3
Service - 4
Ambience - 3.5

Ambience is good but parking is challenge.I ordered Mutton biryani and madurai mutton kothu Kari. Both are not tasty. Only spicy. Food is not good.

Last Sunday we had some shopping plans on t.nagar and we finished our shopping exactly by 12:50 noon. The very next thing should be so obvious about a place for lunch. We already tried maplai and Andhra meals etc. So this time I decided to try Jallikattu. The reason being there is something related to Madurai and being a native of Madurai it emotionally connects you to your home. It was exactly behind big Bazaar, pondy Bazaar in the first floor. The ambiance was decent with enough tables to accommodate 50 - 60 p at a time

We ordered a creamy mushroom soup, nethili fry, karandi omlette to start with. The soup was delicious and so creamy. I loved it much. Nethili fry was so small and the quantity also less is what we felt. Karandi omlette was typical Madurai style. For the main course we ordered a non veg meal for Anu and egg biriyani for me. My junior tasted everything and felt so full soon. Non veg meal was good and Anu enjoyed the mutton kolambu and fish kolambu much. The egg biriyani also good but one kind request is please reduce the masala spices. I got almost 2 table spoon of elachi and other masala items.the staff were Friendly.

If you are very hungry and want to try some Madurai style cuisine you can visit Jallikattu once.

Not up to mark. Service is not good. Food items menu is big but items not available. Pricing is too high. Too much waiting for food. They are only worried of making more Bill cost but service is poor
Raghu
I had been to this place 3 times. The experience was good for the first two visits, but the third time when I went there with 10 people (I recommended this place to them), it was different. No salt in the side dishes we ordered and there is no consistency in the taste of soups. But it has good ambiance and service.
DkRam
Warning- they have reduced the number of dishes in meals from 25 to 20. However, price remains same at RS 199/-!

Ordered boiled rice, veral meen kuzhambu which was that days special n Singapore milagu mutton peratal. Papad as in other places charged separately n curds as well. Rasam given when you order rice.

Waiter who took my order is hyper restless n is interested more in running around rather than explaining anything properly to me.

Starter yet to come but main course has been served!

Finally it's arrived.

Singapore mutton kaara perattal- tasty but not spicy. Meat pieces could have been better
Prawn thokku- very bad-
Veraal meen kuzhambu- excellent, tangy n spicy

Overall food just about average. For quantity kind of pricey. Service needs improvement

Review about hotel Jallikattu T.nagar This is one restaurant that had me thinking throughout the night on the review. You can find the restaurant located to the back side of the Big Bazaar (Pondy Bazaar main road) at the place where Sri Krishna Sweets used to be there. Ambiance looks neat & simple. We ordered Madurai Attu kaal Soup , spicy and tasty – Sura Puttu is disaster never try please – Vanjeeram Fish fry very nice and tasty –Thai Spicy chicken fried rice is top notched and quantity was more and spicy –But I never felt Thai flavor on it much disappointed , Parota is soft …and one more disaster is spicy sanda kozhi kuzhambu – My next visit to taste Full meals and chicken Biriyani .. This restaurant is not in my favorite list or repeat mode .rating 2.5
Srini TK
Probably a vegetarian's review won't count for this restaurant, but hoping a few fellow veggies can take a cue. I badly wanted to have veg kothu parotta and my friend who has had Thali here, took me. They served kothu parotta that tasted like upma. I rest my case.

I had been there with a group of 5 ppl and ordered mutton briyani. , prawn briyani 2 . , 2 non veg meals and mutton chukka , fish fry , prawn fry and 4 karandi omlete and 1 normal omelette all were gud we enjoyed the service

I like the food at jallikattu...the chicken dishes are very unique and tasty. Ambience is not bad..they have improved a lot since they started.
Ranjeet Ramesh
Had a wonderful Sunday for dinner at jallikattu. Everything was fine and ambience and service were super. Had given a feedback for the the chicken Manchurian to be boneless. No prawn item was available. All the available items were excellent and tasty too... Will visit again soon

Well organised and spacious seating. Calm and cool ambience which given enough time and space to order from the choosy list of meat and fish. Combo of Chicken/Mutton is a simply a good pick if not sure of the flavours. Over all worth to be over a lunch for a munch as well. Non-South Indian server team really does their job close to best service as part of our culture. Put together this place pulls us to our spicy, hospitality based foodie concept well in place.
Uma Nakkeeran
Decent place. Nethili taste was good n crispy with moderate spice. Naatu kozhi fry was tasty. Briyani was not that great and mutton pieces were very hard!
Bala Karthick
Good taste ,wide varieties at an affordable price but not satisfied with the ambience ,very congested atmosphere and also the waiting hall can be improved in a better manner, felt suffocated on long wait for dining !
Divya Makkar
Good interiors. A big restaurant in Tnagar Pondy Bazar. Their south indian cuisine is really good and different from other places.

The also serve buffet for dinner which is VFM.

I've tried their meals. A wide spread, one of the best in town. Service has to be improved.

Will come back again to try other dishes.
Purnima Sudha
Affordable restaurant but my only sad experience was that the Eftpos machine didn't accept my international card. Would expect such top restaurants to have such facility. Anyways the reshmi kebab was amazingly good.

This is one restaurant that had me thinking throughout the night on the review. On one side the food was really good (4/5) while on the other there was the really bad service (1/5).

Menu: The restaurant offers either a buffet or a limited Alanganallur Chicken Biryani Combo.

Buffet: The cost of Veg and non veg combos are the same. There are three starters in veg, while non veg has four. The main course had wheat parotta, naan, Roti, biryani (the same as combo), curd rice and pickle. Throughout our dinner the chicken gravy was not refilled.
The payasam and ice cream were bad, while the halwa was extremely delicious.
Ganesh Srinivasan
Nice ambience. Ordered Chicken Briyani combo with tiny parota mwas too good and at right quantity. Sweet beeda ice cream at the end was excellent
Kamal Kannan
Ambiance was good, soup was too good, taste of the starters are good but mutton shall be cooked well

Expected jeeraga samba briyani but disappointed

I was in big bazzar just finished my shopping n was on for lunch i noticed the nearest restaurant was Jallikattu, So i decided to try. When i entered there was a foul smell near the kitchen, i yet decided to ignore this n ordered my meal. The taste was like a crap n the pricing was nearly a trash. Later on i had a bad stomach ache that made me to review this So called restaurant (A trash box for me).
I wish never to even think about visiting here again.
Enter in your own risk
Aashish Devaki
My rating for meals is 4.5
70% percent of people who visits this restaurant will have oly one dish that is unlimited meals for 139 which is quite impressive for the quality of food and restaurant. Both veg and non veg meals are available. Everything tastes quite good but some dishes are bit spicy. Impressive hospitality and ambiance. Parrata tastes nice but it's just coin sized, ppl like me feels little shy to ask them again and again to bring extra parrata😅. Who ever goes here remember that they don't offer juice with this buffet and don't order it and get shock while getting bill like me😂 check out the items in menu carefully.

Jallikatu...

You can find the restaurant located to the back side of the Big Bazaar (Pondy Bazaar main road) at the place where Sri Krishna Sweets used to be there.

Ambiance looks neat & simple, lowered seat arrangements might be little tough for elderly people and for folks after a heavy lunch... :)

We were served a plate of Appalam (Papad) on the table. We ordered Veg & Non veg unlimited meals along with Mushroom tikka & Vanjiram fry all of which were pretty good. Lemon juice is served as welcome drink as part of meals.

Veg meals was accompanied with veg soup, two parottas (coin size), pappu, kara kozhambu, potato fry, curd, butter milk, payasam, rasam & papad.

Non veg meals is the same as above with additional three curries ... Fish, Chicken & Mutton... pretty decent in taste.. excluding the veg ones.

The non veg gravies were bit spicy & tangy which I guess brings out their claim of using home grinded spices...

For both the meals, you get cut fruits (Banana, Pineapple, Watermelon) and a mini scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Service is at good pace, and they came in asking for filling up the rice bowls even before we asked for. I would recommend this place for their unlimited non veg meals hoping that they can maintain this consistency.. will be back to scroll on the menu... :)

For those who aren't aware of what "Jallikatu" is... move on to wiki

Food was below average and the service was poor. Been there for lunch. Probably being a new restaurant there seems to be lag in co ordination among staff and there is no proper person to handle the situation.
Savant Automation
Worst in service. Money only doesn't matter always, quality of service is very poor. Dishes are served delayed. The soups are not hot veg as well as nonveg.. Trying to pull crowd by attractive prices only.. not satisfied with service at all.
Kuppan Chetty Ramanathan
Today had lunch here especially their thali meals. it's worth for your penny. staff were courteous, very good ambience and especially their choice of menu is quite good. A beeda and fruit salad after a heavy tummy meals is quite interesting.
Gowrishanker
This review is specifically about their Thali meals . It's definitely attractive when you find unlimited non veg meals offered at 200 bucks in the city . Mutton soup had a nice pepper flavour to it . The parotta and the chicken and mutton curry was a great combination. The fish curry and rice tasted good too . The dhall powder and rice was yet another amazing combination. I asked for more papads, parottas and rice and they kept refilling . The butter milk and rasam were well prepared . We had also ordered a vegetarian Thali and it was equally good . The butter scotch ice cream served towards the end was rich and delicious .

The ambiance could have been made to suit the South Indian style better . Otherwise the locality and the Restaurant name itself is quite interesting . Service was good and there were more than one attending to every table.

Food : 3.5/5
Service : 3.5/5
Ambiance : 3.5/5
Value for money : 4/5

- Foodie From Madras
Prasanna Nagarajan
very average food lacks authenticity and flavour though the service is good and ambience is decent ,the name jallikattu creates an expectation of having good native tamil falvour but they have everything from chinese to north indian in their menu and the pepper mutton we ordered tasted like bolied mutton chunks in an instant pepper masala flavour , the parottas they served along with the meals was the only saving grace
Varun Saikumar
Tried their south Indian thali, veral fry and naatu kozhi roast. The veral and naatu kozhi were too good. The kozhambus in the meals had the perfect spices and went well along with the rice. One thing they can work on is making the ambience more suited to the chettinad/madurai setting with music related to that area, as playing English songs doesn't go along with their theme.

Very worth restaurant.. today I spend with my family around 13person all said very taste and Worth of money.
Food : 5/5
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 4/5
Money : 5/5
All variates it's very taste so try it one time mostly...
This week buffet offer going including tax 330rs only.
