The best thing about the cafe is it is run by the staff who has suffered Burns and all the money which is generated goes to the NGO who helps the victims in their upliftment.
Moreover, the food is amazing. Very delicious and all the food is cooked by the victims themselves who are highly trained.
The overall Experience is amazing with wide range of Niche stationery & rejuvenating coffee.
Just enjoyed a superb lunch Writers' Cafe. Lovely food, wonderful hospitality, great experience and the best part is the cafe is run by acid-attack victims. So please do stop buy, grab a bite and support this fabulous initiative.
In the words of Chennai's favourite restaurateur, 'Hot Breads' Mahadevan, who happens to run this place, "Ditch the sympathy and bring your appetite".
I have ordered sandwich bread , muffins ,blueberry cheese cake and potato slider . They called me to change to chocolate muffins as blueberry was not available which I was slightly disappointed. But I loved chocolate muffin more and to my surprise, they gave me multigrain bread on the house and quality is so good in lockdown which I miss from few restaurants. I would definitely love to order from them again.
One stop for bookaholics and foodies alike. This is a go-to place if you're looking for shopping for popular books and stationery items and you don't mind grabbing a quick bite. Browse through the book shelves when your food gets ready. Courteous staff and admire them for contributing their profit to Burn victims. Keep up the good work.
Sweet potato chips and potato wedges deserve special mention along with deserts and soup.
This place never disappoints. Always full of people, you can go in for a quick snack or an elaborate dinner. These guys have basic dishes with a few add ons but everything makes you lick fingers. Love the sausage and grilled chicken pizza, cheesy fries, cheese jalapeno balls and the red velvet popsicle.
Highly Recommended Place.
An excellent place for those looking to enjoy reading and coffee! The ambience is laidback, with seating adjacent to bookracks courtesy Higginbotham's.
I enjoyed the Flammkuchen and the Nutella-Banana drink. The ice-cream options are plenty, but I found the Blueberry yoghurt flavour the best of them all. The other flavours are just about decent.
The place isn't too expensive, the icecream was a steal and the pizza was ideal for two.
Overall, the service can be a bit more responsive.
The Place is very cosy, the colour and ambience gives us a great feel to stay in there. The Staffs are very polite and friendly I love them.. Food is great and very much pocket friendly wether you go in 4's or 6's it dint cross 800₹, it will be a day dream to get great food at that low cost writers cafe is the best.. waffles and honey dip, square pizza, "Namma" Bread omblet or love ♥️♥️💕 Cheers to writers cafe
I've been coming to this branch regularly and it has been consistently good. But on Women's Day, they excelled themselves. Super friendly service by Amit and the others (sorry I didn't get their names but they are all so nice it doesn't really matter!) And of course, great food. I had taken my parents to the first Writer's on Peters Road soon after it had opened. This is the first time they've come to the Taramani branch and I think they're going to want to keep coming back! Thank you Amit and co!
Been here twice. This is a very good place, boasting of everything from courteous, professional staff and good food to lush green manicured outdoors visible from the inside through glass walls.
The staff here really do deserve a special mention - they not only always greet us with smiles and explain our options, but are also very adept at managing situations.
The food here is quite good - the flammenkuchen offers so much VFM.
The menu does not have scrambled eggs, but if you're looking for it, you can directly ask the waiters - coming with a slice of toast and a side of veggies, it is competitively priced at 90 bucks.
Great place .... The ambience is one of the best if you visit in day... Properly lit with daylight and books to keep you company.
Lemon chicken and pasta were amazing ...
And for the best of the day ...the ice creams ... 😍😍
Kesar Badam and Fig& Almond swept me off my feet
Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the writer's cafe and it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere was very cool and relaxing, which made it the perfect spot to get some writing done. Although the food was a bit pricey, it was definitely worth it. I indulged in some delicious cheese balls, sausage pizza and a warm cup of hot chocolate. Overall, it was a great day filled with good food and creativity.

Writers Cafe in Taramani offers a truly worthwhile experience, especially for its inviting ambiance and delectable food. While most dishes excel, the Writer Cafe special fried chicken can be a bit oily. The added charm of an attached small book store enhances the overall vibe. With decent parking space, it's a must-visit spot, but ensure you reserve a table for a seamless experience
Everything good about this place. There is parking available. Books are available to read but only if you buy them. Staff speaks English also. Food price is reasonable.
Went for a team dinner on Friday and absolutely loved the place. Limited food options but all of them were very tasty. Quick service. Loved the book vibes! Would definitely be a go-to spot every time I'm in Chennai.
The food was good. The staff was friendly. Loved the vibes. Waffles with hazelnut spread was amazing. Cheesecake was okaish. Flammkuchen was really good. Must try. And everything was economical.
Salt.....All I ask I Salt.
The environment, the food and service.
But the food might appear to the taste buds and that's the nature of the cusine.
Personal recommendation - ask for melted butter and spice it up with Oregano, Chilli Flakes, some black Pepper and a very tiny amount of salt. Changes the German/ French dish to Italian and mumma Mia.
This cafe has a beautiful decor and amazing ambience that immediately puts you in a relaxed mood. The prices are reasonable, making it accessible to everyone.
The food served at Writer's Cafe is simply delicious and offers a great variety to choose from. I tried a range of dishes and every one of them was great, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The prices were affordable, and it offered great value for money.
The service at Writer's Cafe was prompt and staff were friendly, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. The cafe is easy to locate and has great parking space, which is an added bonus.
While the cafe can get crowded during weekends, it is worth the wait. The relaxing vibe and serene atmosphere make it an excellent place to unwind and spend time with loved ones.
Overall, Writer's Cafe is a great place to visit for its ambience, food, and relaxing vibe. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in Chennai.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this establishment, where I indulged in a delightful cup of coffee paired with delectable snacks. The impeccable service and inviting ambiance contributed to a truly exceptional experience. Furthermore, the presence of adjacent bookshops added to the overall charm of the place.
