Review Hotel Sriraag Restaurant - Chennai (Madras)

We visited this hotel for our friends reunion(12 nos) on 18th December. We enjoyed the food and cost is very economical. recommended for others favorite dish 555, Idiyapam Paya, Prawn fry etc

One of the go to restaurants in this location. Food tastes above average and even the costs are reasonable. Nearer to Vadapalani Depot and easily accessible place. Compared to other hotels in the vicinity this is better in both taste and price. In the AC menu, you will see an addition of ₹10+ cost for each item compared to normal done in. Since metro work is happening tough to see any parking location. The restaurant is available till 10:30PM. Service was fast and good. Lime Soda was Lemon juice last time we dined there. Ceylon parota was veechu parota not sure if this is the same.

Dishes were well made, except fish fry . Masala is not properly textured with fish . We rest of the items are worth to try .

Sriraag is always our first choice when we plan to eat Parota and chicken curry for dinner. We have ordered Parotas and gravies many times in last decade from here. Recently we dine in at Sriraag in Dec 2020 and ordered Mutton Paya Soup, Hot & Sour Chicken Soup, Fish fry, chilly Prawns, chicken lollipop, chicken biryani and meals. Starters and soups were awesome but biryani was not good as we expected, it tasted like a jeera rice. Spices and aroma were missing in the biryani. I loved Chilly prawns as it had more quantity and was very tasty. Meals was good and sufficient quantity for 1 person. Sriraag is mainly for parcel and take away. If you are planning for dine in it still an average hotel. Cleanliness and ambience was below average if you are planning for dine in here. Price is normal compared to other hotels in that locality.

Amazing place for having some non veg food...Their shawarma and grilled chicken is to die for. This place is adjacent to A2B and 2 minutes walk from forum vijya mall...It has Ac and non-ac options available...The price is reasonable and the quantity is huge. Their hummus with grilled chicken and barbecue chicken is too good. It's a must visit if you are a hard core non vegetarian.

Paya and idiyappam or appam combination are always good and tasty.. Country chicken dry and kadai fry has good chettinadu masala taste .. Chicken 65 special briyani also good.. Food is not too much spicy but in correct masala flavoured and cooked well. Server Mr.Alagan in AC, always treat customer with smiling and well manner.. Food quantity and quality are good with reasonable price Only restuarant ambiance is normal

Good taste.. Environment seems to be elegant.. But the restaurant is situated in a traffic place.. Parking seems to be bit difficult.. Rates are somewhat high but provided with more quantity.. both veg and non veg are available

Stopped by for some quick lunch, ended up having a wholesome meal. Liked the idea of a kurma style side dish for the biriyani instead of the same old brinjal gotsu. Loved the hospitality too 👍

I have ordered chicken mughlai biriyani from this restaurant and the taste is too good. They even provided free home delivery which is an added advantage. The biriyani had an authentic taste. will definitely give another visit.

My favourite place to hangout!! They have their own style of preparing food. Always the taste are constant and tasty. Food here are even good for children since food colouring are minimal. Food and ambience are ver neat and clean. Every one are very friendly and patient.

Had an amazing experience here. They have few signature dishes which are highly recommended to try out those dishes. Signature dishes will not be in the menu ask them personally.. And then I guarantee you'll be tasting one of the best dishes in chennai.

Sriraag hotel has always been my favourite restaurant in the area. You have to try their chilli chicken. It's out of the world. Great service. Great ambience. Can't wait to get back there soon. Cheers to the whole management.

My neighbour recommended this place and ordered Shawarma for me from sriragh. The didn't disappoint me. Typical shawarma with good quality with the nominal price. Mayo s great. You can popin for a quick bite. Yet to taste other dishes here.

I ordered from this restaurant because this is one of my favourite restaurant and different type of briyani. To be honest I was very disappointed this time because this was not the same Sriraag Biryani which I used to have it in restaurant earlier. And for this quality I felt it overpriced, the mutton biriyani priced at 380/- is not at all worth the price.

Order Mutton Biryani for 320 rupees and received two bone pieces with no meat it in. Waste of money.

When I was 8 , my dad used to buy fried rice , crab masala, ginger chicken items from this hotel ....From dat date Till now, there is no changes in that taste.. now I'm 30 , still the tAste remains same...wowww yummyyy

Grill Chicken and Special Parota with Paya and some gravy taste is really good. Try and then you will order the same till the end. Price is reasonable, for treat and to eat some tasty food this is the best place.

We wanted to have a lighter dinner and this was the only close by place available.<br/><br/>Ordered Wheat parotta, Kerala parotta and Chettinad Chicken gravy. The gravy was nothing like the Chettinad flavoured and the parootas were soft, cirspy and fluffy.<br/><br/>The service wasn't worth mentioning too. The person who took our orders was a tad bit grumpy. Could be becuase it was end of the day or he had a bad day. Liked it very much .<br/><br/>Spl mutton Biryani - the mutton was fried exactly like a chicken 65 . The taste was ok no complaints but nothing spl. Sriraag is became very worst now and not at all satisfied and waste of money. Food was not hygienic. The Ac room was now become bar environment. I recommend Pls don't go and especially don't go with your family.

Had lunch today here. Ordered Kaadai Fry, Prawn Biriyani, Parotta and Lime soda. The ambience is ok.<br/><br/>Kaadai fry was awesome. The pieces were succulent and spicy.<br/><br/>Prawn Biriyani was good. The prawns in the biriyani was so soft and fresh. Though didn't exactly tasted like biriyani and tasted like a gravy rice, the taste was so good.<br/><br/>Parotta was good. The parotta was big and was less oily.<br/><br/>Service is great. Overall the food was so good and the price was average. Will visit again for sure.

Costly but did server good quality non veg stuffs. But the great part of their menu is, you get non veg even when u order pure veg, due to poor kitchen standards. I had ordered Vegetable chopsey to find egg pieces in it. Also the finger fries were more like oil fries.

iam disappointed with this order. no side dish for barotta. also the mutton paya served was with full od pees just veg kurma named as paya with 2 to 3 peaces

One of my regular restaurant. Excellent food. Had amazing aappam and Paya. Their mutton chops , chicken masala is also a delight .<br/>However this time the grilled chicken was a great disappointment. Masala was not marinated well and chicken was half baked and stinking .

This places serves good harmless food. Taste is good but don’t expect it to be extraordinary. It’s halal and all the foods are cooked to perfection. That’s something we’d all like. The service is nice and they don’t delay your food at all. I’ve been there more than 20 times and not even once my food got delayed. Their home delivery is also very good right from packaging to the delivery time. Must try place for non veg lovers.

My favourite is all the payas here. Have tried almost all the payas with appam, iddiyappam, dosa and parotta. They have gone through renovation and the ambience is quite good compared to previous times. Tried ordering the food and the packaging is also too good and very neat. Overall experience is very good.

Hotel Sri Raag Multi-cuisine, Arcott Road. Tasty and mouthwatering food. Splendid service with very very friendly people and good mannered people around. Perfect and best value for money.

Hotel Srirag... Located in main road is the one thing to say about this resto..Had tandoor which is not marinated well and the chicken is huge and and is hard.I donno how do they get that big chicken..its a flop show may be on that day alone or alwayz but never will visit again after the first attempt..

It is located opposite to vadapalani bus stop. We ordered for a non vegetarian meals and a chicken tandoori. The meals was not good , the Chicken and fish gravy tasted bad. The tandoori was good but not great. This place is expensive for the food the service provided.

Worst hotel ever in the sense of service and customer satisfaction. Not a recommended for any type of person who need to enjoy food with good service. <br/>Imagine a hotel that serve dosa, idly, parota without chatni and side dish. Worst strategy to improve sales.

Tasty food. Good varieties. If you are here for breakfast, you need to have a keen eye , as previous day chicken maybe served. I experienced this as the chicken served to me was cold inside and I asked the waiter to change it. As expected he refused to accept the fact but was courteous enough to replace it. Sriraag is not a bad option.

The price is quite high here.Taste of food is decent nothing extraordinary.The idiappam and pepper paya is very good and also the taste of butter chicken is excellent.The taste of the biryani was bad it was too spicy.Overall a very average restaurant with very high prices compared to other restaurants in the nearby locality.

A late night eatery that has been in existence for a very long time. Decided to have dinner at this place as we had tried out every other restaurant in the area.<br/><br/>Orders<br/>Parotta - slightly dry. The outer portions were soft due to re heating but the insides were sightly dry. Served warm<br/><br/>Aapam - Mediocre again, the softness was less and was more bulky. Served slightly warm<br/><br/>Idiappam - this was good and served hot.<br/><br/>Butter chicken gravy - this was very good. Right spices, tender chicken. Tasted good with all the dishes.<br/><br/>Mushroom Masala gravy - Watery and tasted bland. Not so good. Very mediocre <br/><br/>Fish fingers - too much of fish stench after cooking and was too costly.<br/><br/>Plain Biriyani - served with raitha and gravy. Mediocre again <br/><br/>Omlettes , half boil and full boil - perfect.<br/><br/>

Went there for a quick dinner after shopping at Forum . Ordered aapam , phulka and chicken chettinad . Aapam was soft but was cold while served . Phulkas were good but small in size Chicken chettinad was tasty( less spicy and had different taste ) with generous boneless chicken pieces . Chicken 65 was good but felt there could be some more masala and salt . Since it was late didn't order Briyani . Overall restaurant is good and its value for money . Though nothing great about taste , there is nothing much to complain too .. <br/><br/>P.S: Don't expect too much on ambience !

I usually come here Sunday morning to have dosas.... A good ghee like smell will be there in all the items, appam is also good with the three varieties of chutneys they give... Idlis are very soft ant they literally melt as soon as u keep in the mouth.... Not very crowded and the outlet is also very neat..... During afternoon hours due to rush, the waiters and management gets wacky and rude.. Avoid if possible if u want to eat with dignity

Food is good here, especially my regular Chicken Spl Biriyani, the attitude of the waiters could be improved a tiny bit and hygiene could improve a lot, but again, I like the food there, nice south-indian style food.

Ordered one full grilled chicken, madras kothu parotta, and chicken fried rice. <br/><br/>Service was decent and they served the food very faster also informed us that grill chicken ll be late by 10 mins. In sharp ten mins it arrived, liked their punctuality in delivering food. <br/><br/>As chicken fried rice priced 150 rupees, I felt its bit high for their restaurant as a full grill coat 300 only. Myself and my friend visited this place for dinner. Ordered mutton biryani, Hyderabad chicken dry, shawarma plate, shawarma roll. Food was good, service was prompt, meat was soft and juicy, over all a good place to have good and tasty food

A decent hotel with good varieties. More of a Non Vegetarian Restaurant with equally good Vegetarian menu. Has both A/C and Non A/C dining facility.<br/><br/>* The ambience was nice but nothing special. We had our Food in the Non A/C diner and the cleanliness could be improved, Maybe better in the A/C diner.<br/>* The quality & taste of the food was nice but the Veech Parota that we ordered was not up to the mark. Otherwise it was good enough. Again nothing special but the Gobi butter masala was a variety dish. <br/>* The service was poor and the servers seemed completely untrained and unprofessional. Best ever pepper paya and idiyappan combo I have ever tasted in my life , and the u suggest every one to try the crab fry!!! Heaven it is for crab lovers :) only problem with them is the service ppl , thy don't respond properly else is s VFM place.

A decent restaurant in my locality. Located next to avm rajeswari theatre.<br/>The prices are a bit high but the quantity of the food and the taste was good. The waiter was a bit irritating pushing us into the order otherwise a good restaurant.

One of the most tastiest food available here in chennai...The best thing to order here is Parotta and butter chicken...And Butter chicken for 140rs we get sufficient quantity and very tasty. Parotta,roti or nan is slightly on expensive side so I would recommend buying butter chicken from here and parotta from somewhere else. But Parotta here is so nice soft and yet crispy...

A must eat place in Chennai. Sriraag hotel has been there from the time i came to Chennai back in 2004. My all time favourite was the dry chilli chicken they serve you. Its not like all the other restaurants that just serve you more flour than chicken. Here the chicken is freshly made because the taste is just out of the world. And then later they started doing Grilled chicken as well. Absolutely Gorgeous with the special salad and Sriraag special mayyanoise they serve.  Take away service is also perfect as they always make sure the food is there on time. Most of The staff are very friendly and experienced. I heard now they have renovated as well. Cant wait to get back there and have some yummy chilli chicken or egg onion fry or paaya. A must visit in Chennai as its in Vadapalani in the capital of the film world.

Food was bland, tasteless and now after renovation, overpriced! Ive visited this place twice, first time i was treating about 15 other seniors from my college! Back then, it was okay and ambience was pretty okay too.. bt this time when i went in as a senior while our juniors treated us, ambience was improved, food quality was zero gven the price attachd to it!

Excellent restaurant, especially in door delivery , I call them at 11:10pm but they accept the delivery and also delivered it with in 15 minutes, hyderabad chicken briyani is super in this restaurant, just check it out friends

Good restraurant near vadapalani bus stand.. I like the spl chicken biriyani here .. Its good.. Recently they renovated it. Other spl dish is aapam and aatukaal paya... This is run by malayali and hence some kerala dishes are spl here.

I have heard from many about the "pepper paya" so one fine Sunday morning I went here for breakfast experience some nice appam and paya. I went at 8 am and the waiter took 10 min to bring water and I placed order. I noticed that he was arguing with some one near kitchen entrance so went and asked what is the problem the other person (I guess cook) said it will take 30 min and another person poped out of kitchen and said some drainage water got mixed up with cooking water so delay. I just ran away from there to my regular "campus" hotel. I will never go here again.
