Being an anime freak, I was stunned with the decor. I tried 3 types of sushi and all of them were great! Oh and BTW, had Japanese cuisine for the first time. Learning how to use chopsticks was super fun :) Hope to visit this place again soon.
First ever sushi.... Liked it.... Theme was ultimately awesome.... #naruto #dragonballz #onepiece....
From long time, we wanted to try Japanese food so a frnd suggested this restaurant. The ambience is good. Liked the lacy screen for each table, where you can enjoy your food the way you like it n nobody gonna judge you. Liked their perfectly made green tea served unlimitedly and we ordered for Japanese style omelette with prawns - Good n creamy Chicken teriyaki - Tasty sauce Beef dumplings - Tasted good Beef steak - Tender n juicy as per friends experience Totally a good place for tasting Japanese food.
They have recently shifted to Alwarpet just opposite to Old Madras baking company is very easy to spot them out.
The interior was simple yet warm, welcoming with white theme... the seatings where really cozy, the comparment type cubicles provided the much needed privacy .
The staff was very polite and friendly, however the language was a barrier to though.
We had gone for lunch, their menu online was different from the one served for lunch . Many starter options were not given in the lunch menu. Most of the dishes were platters, however the staff did not notify this to us and we ended up ordering a little too much he he
Sashimi platter had four varieties of sashimi ,three pieces each , all the very fresh ...did not smell fishy at all..extremely delicious..tender and melting in Mount mouth kinds...meeting every sashimi lover's expectation. The Salman sashimi was creamy, the rest of the pieces were enjoyable as well. I think that either squid Or Cuttlefish, the white one, was extremely chewy but enjoyable .These 12 pieces were served along with rice ,soup ,three pieces of really small radish kimchi, potato salad, wasabi and soya sauce.
Grilled eel platter had a large piece of eel that was grilled to perfection with teriyaki sauce. Every bite had a slight sweet charred flavour , the flesh was extremely tender and complimented the side of rice served. The contents of the platter remains the same as one described for sashimi platter.
The ebi fry platter had 5 to 6 large pieces of prawns deep fried with bread crumbs. The prawns were extremely fresh and refreshing.
Overall these did satisfy my sashimi cravings, leaving me delighted with a happy tummy. A thumbs up and heaven for Japanese cuisine lovers though the price was on the higher side which matches up to their quality dishes served.
For a first time experience, the food, the ambiance and the staff was excellent. Can't wait to come back again!!
Food is too good here. It make you addictive to come very often. The price is a bit high... But tasty food.
Went for a dinner date with my friend last week.
Had a lovely experience. We tried the Rainbow roll, Unagi nigiri, Hotate nigori and Tori Karage. No complaints at all. Really enjoyed the food but I wish they had some desserts also to satisfy my sweet tooth!
Hands down to the best Japanese food in Chennai. This place is a hidden treasure and what more than good food, friendly staff and good ambience. The decor is proper Japanese style with nice table arrangements and curtains. We ordered the salmon maki, crunchy maki roll, tempura Udon and Yaki Udon. One cannot simply ignore the deliciousness of the crunchy maki roll, it's a direct MUST HAVE. The Yaki Udon was so yummy that we continued munching even after feeling full.
Go ahead and give this place a try and I'm sure you all will love it:)
Had the most perfect Birthday lunch at Hokkaido with my sisters. Friendly staff and accommodating despite us coming in a little closer to closing time in the afternoon.
Quick service and delicious food. Authentic Japanese food like no other and pretty affordable too. I highly recommend the 3 dishes I had :
Pirikarai Tuna Roll
Tori Gyoza
Torikatsu Kara Rice
Tip:
Reach the restaurant before 2PM because they close down by 3PM
If you've got a car, finding a parking spot is a bit of a task so be prepared to hunt and walk a bit.
The food was amazing! Specially the Teriyaki Chicken. The Rice & Japanese curry was good too. The ambience was perfect. Trying Japanese cuisine for the first time couldn't have been better for me. Strongly recommend this place to everyone.
The ambiance is good, staff courteous, the sushi platter was ok, prawns were not fresh but the salmon was good. The beef dishes were brilliant and the chicken teriyaki was good. Would have enjoyed it a bit more if the seafood was fresher.
Authentic Japanese dining experience! Fresh sashimi, crispy tempura, delightful sushi, and comforting ramen. The flavors were outstanding, showcasing top-quality ingredients. Attentive service and inviting ambiance. A solid 5-star rating for impeccable culinary offerings.
Had a lovely meal at this Japanese restaurant. The service was efficient and the food, a modern take on traditional Japanese dishes, was impressive - particularly the fresh sashimi and house-made udon. The ambience was initially authentic with traditional Japanese music, but the switch to English pop was a bit off-putting. Overall, a recommendable spot for Japanese food lovers, just wish they'd keep the music consistently Japanese.

One among the very few Japanese restaurants in Chennai. Good sushis here. Tried their Tuna Aburi roll and Chicken Run Roll. I loved the Tuna Roll. Was a lot more authentic. The chicken roll was a hybrid variant. Also had their Beef Curry Udon. Not a fan of strong masala flavours. So, did not like it much. Would have been great if they had some Ramen on the menu.
Had a good meal here and the price points are decent and the portion sizes are good enough. The sushi tasted fresh and the karaage was crispy and juicy! Overall a good experience here.
Quite love the dining space with different booths and the curtains separating the spaces. The service is quite friendly and fast.
The place can get crowded so best to get a reservation.
My first experience in a Japanese restaurant in Chennai. I have tried Japanese food in Europe. This was truly an amazing experience.
The location is in prime location of city, ambience is so close like a Japanese street food courts, food is so authentic with great art of presentation by the chef! And finally great hospitality by staffs.
I bought sushi as take away. Since I'm trying in Chennai for first time I wanted a combo box of sushi but it was not on menu. When I requested if they can give me 2 or 3 pieces of each varieties of sushi the chef came and said he can do that for me and also gave the best combo of sushi's to pick. They gave is a neat packing for take away. The food tasted very good and so authentic.
A must recommend place for Japanese food in Chennai.
This was the first time of me trying a Japanese restaurant. I loved the service. They were very polite ad helped me pick the best dishes. The Ebi tempura was my favorite it was very crispy. They also provided a tea and salad as compliment, it tasted really good. The okonomiyaki was really big i was not able to complete it. I really enjoyed the food. Must visit this place if you wanna try Japanese food.
First time having authentic Japanese dishes in Chennai, met my expectations and the food was good.
Would have liked to see shabushabu on the menu.
A great place for sushi lovers in Chennai!
First off, the service is amazing. They are very sweet and even give you a complementary cup of tea.
I ordered the California roll, the cucumber maki roll, the ebiten roll, and garlic rice - and I'm still having a hard time picking my favourite dish!
The ambience is cute, perfect for a nice afternoon brunch. My only complaint would be that finding the restaurant was a bit difficult.
Overall, this restaurant offers amazing Japanese food and I would definitely visit again soon!
