Located on near Malsi Dear Park, Mussorrie Road this is the newest addition to the doon. It is named as First Gear Cafe since if you are taking your car you will have to put it in 1st Gear since this cafe is located on height.
This place is good since you can enjoy amazing food with the view. Place looks amazing especially during monsoon and winters.

I have been here several times.
The location is super amazing. The view from the top is greattt. Plus their food is good too. I have tried their honey chilli potatoes, chicken lollypop and maggi. Everything is super amazing.

I have lived in both Delhi NCR and Dehradun and I have lost count of the places where I have tried honey chilli potato as it's my fav dish. However, hands-down this place will ALWAYS be my go-to place for honey chilli. Although on my recent visit, I noticed that the honey chilli were tooo dry as if it's been overcooked. There was no sauce/gravy. 4 stars cuz the quantity can be increased as per the price and could get a little creamier.
The ambience outdoors is very pretty. The lush green view feels so soothing.
This place has a very beautiful scenic view if you love to have your food at a beautiful place then it is a must. I also liked the food mainly chicken lollipop and chocolate shake. I would recommend to go there if you want to spend a quality time in beautiful mountains.

True to its name you have to drive up in first gear to reach up the hill to First Gear Cafe.. A sharp left and you are right in front of the building.. Situated on the Dehradun Mussoorie highway, overlooking Shiva Temple and the valley beyond.. The picturesque setting adds to its aura.. A cosy little place with both indoor and outdoor sittings makes all the difference..
Now comes the main part.. The Food.. Was hearing some great reviews and a visit was long overdue, so yesterday was the day.. A menu catering to both veg and non veg pallets consists of all sorts of beverages like the usual Tea/ Coffee/ Lemon Ice Tea/ Hot Chocolate/ Shakes etc.. Snacks and starters consists of Honey Chilly Potato/ French Fries/ Omelettes/ Pakoras/ Chicken Lollipops/ Burgers etc.. Soups, Chinese, Momos, Pizza n Pasta alongside Sandwiches for that quick bite.. We ordered their Chicken Lollipop, Chicken Lung Fung Soup, good ol Maggi loaded with veggies, Chicken Tandoori Momos, Chicken Cheese Pizza with olives and jalapenos..
Chicken Lollipop were perfectly done and had a covering of Honey Chilli sauce.. Soup was what the atmosphere demanded as we say out over looking the valley.. Maggi loaded with veggies taste heavenly in the hills in this weather and you need to be really dumb to get it wrong.. Tandoori Momos accompanied by tangy mint chutney and the usual red chilli chutney were perfectly done.. Pizza was too good to say the least..
Picturesque setting, perfect company and to top it all great food was what made the journey all worth it..
Total damage less than 1000..

This cafe has one of the tastiest foods I've eaten at a cafe in Dehradun lately. The interior designing isn't magical but the ambience surely is because of the great view from the cafe. The quantity of the food is great. 2 people couldn't finish a plate of momos and a Pizza after a shared glass of cold coffee and so we had to get it packed, and, BTW, the momos here have the largest size I've seen in my entire life, for real!! Not even exaggerating!! The Pizza was the cheesiest ever with a lot of veggies and I actually thought it was better than the million options we get at Domino's with the price literally cut by half.
A perfect place for spending some quality time with your loved ones. Nice, cozy and closer to nature place. Food is also really good and well priced. Service was on the day was bit late but it is okay now. It would be really great if they can maintain the place and eating area a little bit and arrange the things properly..🙂

Chicken cheese burger was my choice. And i loved the Food, Quantity and Price.
Ambience wasn't that great but valley of mussourie added more value to the ambience.
A must visit place to eat with friends and family. Go there around 5 pm in the evening so that you can enjoy sunset and the night light of Dehradun from above. 😍❤️

Cafe serves different type of Maggi and shakes, followed by parathas and other snacks items.
I ordered for masala, plain and butter Maggi, panner pyaaz paratha with curd, burger and chocolate shake to go with. Maggi tasted okay, paratha was nice, burger was deep fried and could be skipped but chocolate shake was really nice and ordered it thrice 😝

I have visited this place a couple of time and my most favourite dishes from the menu are cold coffee with icecream, chilly potato and chicken lollipop .. This time i tried the pizza and veg cheese grilled sandwiches and cappuccino they were equally good and tasty.Also you can enjy the view of the doon as this place is on the hilltop. This place is located in the middle of Mussoorie and indeed this is one of the best place I have visited in Mussoorie ..the vibes is so real. This place has both indoor and out door sitting. We prefer outdoor sitting and this was our best decision.. the service and staff was also good.. coming to food 🥘 we had soup 🍜, chilli potato 🥔, momos and spring roll... among all of these I like pan fried momos and soup.. chilli potatoes was cooked to perfection for vegetarians it is a must have have dish from here.

First gear cafe is true to its name you need to apply first gear in your bike in order to go up from the main road, situated in Malsi on the way to Mussoorie from Dehradun. The Cafe is quite decent , you will find a lot of young crowd in this place. I went their with a friend and ordered Chicken Schezwan Soup which was super delicious. It's a place with amazing view of Doon Valley and Shiv Mandir also known as Shiv ratan Kendra.

The cafe set at the mountain top is one of the best city view places with highly qualified chefs and everhelpful staff. Nevertheless, the shortage of space leads to long ques and thus, making it a secondary option. Food and music ranging from western to Bollywood just arouses your mind and hearts to new levels. A nice place to sit and chill with friends or family . This is a good cafe view wise , i have visited this place many times . The name first gear comes from the fact that you need to be in it to drive your vehicle up the slope. Sadly ours slipped down back. The first thing you observe about this place is the breathtaking view. Make sure you choose the balcony seating. Now coming to the food, we ordered a chicken kotai, burger and their special drink made of coke, ginger and lemon. The kothai was really well made, loved. The drink turned out to be good, discovered a new combination. The service is slow, but everything was well under budget.

As far as the food is concerned, it was very good, could not find a false note in any of the things we ordered and offcourse the view contributed to the taste of th food.

1. 1st gear fruit punch : What a cooler! Very unique, every sip gave an essence of ginger. RECOMMENDED!
2. Peach Ice Tea : Simple and effective
3. Kothey momos : These are the stemmed momos roasted just a little with butter. The roasting made it a mix and match of crunchy and soft. If you ever visit this cafe you must try these.

Stick to the location, its a little on the off road so if you miss the turn it would be very difficult for you to backtrack as the road is very narrow.
Instead of siting inside, sit outside as it brings out the true essence of the restaurant.
Went there for breakfast with family. We reached at around 10am when it was still closed and seeing us they opened the cafe.......as the name says the car only go there in first gear as the road leading to it is steep for 200 m. We sat outside with lovely views. We ordered

My all time fav place for Paneer Sandwich and coffee. Great Panoramic view of whole city, shiv Mandir and Rajpur. Personally, paneer sandwich & coffee is my go to food and I find best at First Gear Cafe.
Come here right after a rain shower and you will fall in love with Dehradun - all over again.
Keep in mind - if you are not confident about taking your vehicle up to cafe, park it on the roadside and climb up hill by foot. I always find 3-4 people rolling down the road with their vehicles every time I visit.
