Review Calicut Notebook Restaurant - Ernakulam

The location is fairly decent, the valet takes care of your most initial concern. We were seated right at the wnternace however there are no AC cents and it was unbearable for me to sit there. However the Staff promptly moved us to a location when it cleared. We ordered for the Parotta, Pali chicken, Chicken Varatiyathu and Chicken Tikka. The Parotta were very springy and tasty as well as the Kerala styled stir fry with coconuts in the Pali Chicken. The Chicken Tikka was not too bad either however the Chicken Varatiyathu wasn’t to its mark. It was a lot tangy than it needs to be. Prices were decent as well. This came to about ₹1.5k along with the Sizzler dessert at the end which unfortunately had a very hard brownie but was not too bad overall.

Recently visited Calicut notebook, tried their nadan chicken and mutton soup and it felt like the perfect soup for the weather and was also yummy. For the starters tried their ripe mango Thai salad, chicken grilled salad and angel honey lollipop. The salads were avarage but the lollipop was delicious and for the main course ordered butter naan, kulcha, achayans chicken curry,squid dry fry & lassi. Overall the service was good and quick and they even had a valet parking.

First time dining food at calicut notebokk restaurant. It was an amazing food, we ordered fish fillet, and appam with paneer mango curry, it's a nice place to enjoying food. I'm really satisfied,

Superb interiors, I am from Bangalore and feel this rich place is very affordable.Dissapointed to know that ghee biriyani is not available. I tried Chicken fried rice which is good.

Excellent dining and friendly service. They are doing a good job of managing the limited parking space. There is valet parking available. Due to the crowd, you may occasionally have to wait outside.

The Calicut Notebook is a fine dining multi-cuisine restaurant with a good interior but It is not that noticeable from outside the road. The parking space is limited but the valet parking facility will satisfy the customers. We ordered 3 sets of Naruneyy Chicken Biriyani(Rs.280) and a normal chicken biryani (Rs. 240). The Naruneyy Chicken Biriyani was packed in a banana leaf that opens to an aroma that makes us mouth-watering. Biriyani has a good flavor of Ghee and has enough quantity to fill a person's tummy. Depending on self capacity it may be for one or two people. I strongly recommend the Naruneyy Biriyani if you are a Dum Biriyani lover and may not be pleasing for those who love the Kochi style Biriyani because of the lack of masala and not that spicy.

Had lunch from here. Biriyani is a good option and got complimentary payasam as well. I felt a bit crowded, can improve the dining experience if more space is allocated.

Dinner at Calicut Notebook. It was not crowded when we reached around 7:30 pm, was fully packed when we got out. Food taste was average, not something that would linger. Biryani was not available as they serve Biryani only for lunch. Beef fry was the best. Chicken was not fresh and hence not soft or succulent. Portion size is definitely an area that needs to be improved upon as against the cost. Tender coconut shake, mint lime, brownie with ice cream and pineapple juice were all good. Service was cordial, but not orderly (food reached the table, but plates did not. Then again had to ask for cutlery, none of which was on the table). The place is well maintained, neat and clean. One thing I really appreciate is all the staff had a pleasant smile all throughout. Valet parking available.

Service was top notch. From the moment you enter. Smiles all around and the folks are super friendly and polite. When we went there it was packed. Even with that service was fast and food came without any delay. Porotta was awesome, Dragon chicken was amazing. Prices are as expected too. Parking is limited (in the front). But they manage it well. Overall a very good experience. Highly recommended.

Excellent food. Outside space is an issue especially for car parking. However, staffs are taking their best efforts for valet parking. Security at the entry point also very cordial and polite. Restaurant needs a better spacious place/location to take care of customers.

Nice finger licking starters crunchy prawns and Thai fish (forgot the names). My friend liked the appam very much.

One of the restaurants that's serves tasty biriyani at ernakulam. The customer service is outstanding. We ordered their Naruneyy mutton and chicken biriyani which is their signature items. A must try restaurants when you are at ernakulam. Parking space is available.

I had dined at Calicut Notebook several times with my friends & family. Everytime they had very good service & quantity served and the quality of food was excellent. With the previous experiences in my mind, had ordered the food yesterday. I ordered parathas, chapathi, nadan erachi curry, beef varattiyath & beef coconut fry. Out of which paratha & coconut fry was good. Chapathy they delivered, I donno how someone could tear a piece from it. If they cannot serve good one's, please remove it from the menu. No one's hoing to complaint. Also the beef varattiyath was very sweetish. When i dined, the quantity i got was reasonably good. But that was not in the case of delivery. Expecting much more good service from a group like Calicut Notebook.

Food is worth for the price

Quality of food needs to be drastically improved, it was not at all tasty and quality of meat, both chicken and beef really bad. Kindly improve it.

Ordered ghee rice combo from this place.<br/>Combo was supposed to have a raitha, papad, pickle, chicken roast and ghee rice. <br/>I had ordered 3 sets. Only 2 combos were complete, which means 2 of the combos had pickle, raitha and papad. I don't understand why they charge Rs 250 per order and don't have the decency to send it complete. <br/>Now when it comes to the taste, I have had ghee rice from various restaurants, there was no trace of 'ghee' in this rice. Chicken roast was good. The pickle was terrible. To be more precise, it's not worth Rs.250.<br/>Very disappointed especially I trusted this restaurant to be one of the best in its service and food. <br/>Only thing that was lavish was the cellotape around the packages. Not sure if they charged 250 for the tapes.

Chkn biriyani was just average.. Quantity was very less.. I ordered for two pkts of biriyani.. In one, the quantity was good and other one was less...when u cheat with the quantity u shud understand we r paying same amount for both the packets.. And it's for two people... How much did u save and how long do u think u ll survive like this..

Could not be there for dining in person but ordered through online. It was the first time. But enjoyed the whole family very much. Really good and exemplary!

One among the best places to hit in Kochi for dining. Every one claims for having authentic taste but these guys have nailed it. They smell and taste authentic. Must try are kerala meals and bamboo biriyani. Got some cool deserts to try too like Ilaneer pudding, banana crepe and chocolate brownie.... Keep up your good work. Deserve 5 stars but 1 is taken for you to fight for the 5<br/>

Hey went there once with my friends. Super duper food & ambience. Loved their service also. Must try mango paneer curry with appam. Its soooooo yum. & loved their Thailand salad also. Will definitely go again.😍

So sad to say this. Dont eat biriyani from here expecting what they served when they started business. Its just like some meat and ordinary rice for lots of money. #verybad

Have ordered chicken dum biriyani, though biriyani doesn't have a malabar taste it was good. Chicken was cooked well. Served with salad,pappadam,payasam and pickle.

My wife ordered beef ularthiyathu from here today. Got beef which was old and smelling. Terrible experience and i doubt the overall cleanliness and food safety of the restaurant.

Been here many times and I wonder why it took me so late to give a review. Every visit is a delightful experience.<br/>Food is of a very good quality and comes with a good quantity. Price is reasonable. In my many visits, I have had a combination of nadaan and Chinese food. Their chicken fry is a speciality. Anybody looking for a simple chicken fry in coconut oil can definitely go for it. We have also had Fish moilee to club it with appam and both were delicious. Biriyani was normal as there is better biriyani available in town. Their lime tea can be a perfect end to a great meal.<br/><br/>Service is another important highlight. The smiling faces, patience, and quick service sets them apart.<br/><br/>Ambience is normal and can seat a larger group of people too.

Disaster food delivered. No taste not enough qty

The ambiance was just amazing. Good music, great food. The fish curry meals was totally a different class with 12 different curries (incl. prawns curry too) and payasam.<br/><br/>But the thing I loved the most was the service. The person who served had a very welcoming smile and was very friendly.<br/><br/>Looking forward to try other items :)

Great food, great service and ambiance. We reserved a table in prior, hope that is necessary in weekends as it rushy. We tried, chillie garlic fried rice, nirapara chicken curry, beef ularthu and mutton chops with some regular breads. Mutton chops wasn't upto the mark, but all others were scrumptious.Reasonable price. the Pazhassi salad is a must try. They have a nice variety of starters too all at affordable prices and decent quantity.

A great place for dining with family or friends. The ambience is classy and the service good. But make sure you reserve a table especially during the weekends as the place is overcrowded.<br/><br/>The main highlight is the food here. We ordered a special fish polichethe which was amazing. We also ordered bamboo biriyani and some starters, all of which tasted amazing.<br/><br/>We had the jackfruit payasam for dessert which was super yummy. <br/><br/>Overall a really nice dining experience.

Out of the items that I've tried, I find their noodles to be the best. Alleppey chicken and butter chicken are nice too.

good ambience, top notch food without even having a feel of Southern touch, every food were prepared and served in the best way possible. a bit pricey but would love to give that at any time for such delicious food. would recommend for all.

Very disappointed. The service and ambience is okay. But food is very bad. Wastage of money. I ordered parotta and a full chicken curry (which costs about Rs. 380). The size of the parotta was large but very dry. The chicken curry was bad to taste and the full portion of curry has only few tiny pieces of chicken. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Tried this place out of curiosity, but it was worth it. Amazing food, I had meals and it is good that I plan to visit again. It is not over expensive for the ambience

Good ambiance and Service.but the food is totally waste.we ordered sweet corn chicken,hot and sour chicken,bangok grilled prawns, chicken kanthari tawa,pandanas chicken,thalappakettu fish, grilled fish,beef chilly malabari, chicken malabari,appam, dancing tea and mango pudinng.all the item is ulter waste except mango puding.there is no malabar taste for the dishes which named malabari.the price is too high compared to the food quality.

Good ambience. But was very disappointed with the Chinese food. The fried rice and szhezwan noodles was tasteless. The chilly chicken was tasty but the half portion is just 5 small bite sized pieces.Pad kaprow gai was also another disappointment.

Wonderful ambience and authentic Kerala cuisine. Located on the main road. The fish based items are worth trying and delicious. Quantity served and Service is also quite satisfactory.

Visited this place randomly. Loved the Biriyani and the fried squid. More than anything, the service was excellent. Would definitely revisit and recommend this to anyone for a good dining experience.
