Review Savya Rasa - Gurugram (Gurgaon)

Rahul Prabhakar
In this blog post, I cover Savya Rasa, a new fine dining South Indian restaurant in Ardee Mall, Gurugram. Want to take an epicurean journey through Southern India? If your answer is in the affirmative, head straight to the newly opened Ardee Mall in Gurugram and find your way to Savya Rasa, the first-of-its-kind fine dining restaurant that celebrates South Indian cuisine in all its glory. The only outlet, perhaps, where you get to taste authentic cuisines from major culinary regions of South India. Created with the intent of offering authentic South Indian fare on your plate through an exclusive fine dining experience, Savya Rasa tries to relook at traditional cuisines of Mangaluru, Mysuru, Nellore, Kongunadu, Chettinad, Nasrani, and Malabar. The restaurant does not stray too far from essential cooking methods yet manages to innovate through years of research and learnings from local cooks, chefs, grandmothers, and housewives. This has culminated in an elaborate menu with authentic dishes from seven regions of South India, each with its distinct cultural identity. What's remarkably well done is the use of flavorful, indigenous ingredients in every dish, cooked with an amazing eye to detail. Team Savya Rasa has traveled extensively across the aforesaid regions of South India and worked with locals to ensure that authenticity is never compromised. You'll be surprised how effectively the team has incorporated the cultural aspects and attributes into the dining experience to help you understand the heritage and history of modern-day South India. Let's admit it ... because of the stereotypes that exist in our country, for most people outside of Southern India, the quintessential South Indian food comprises only of Idli, Vada, Sambar, Dosa, etc. If you're more traveled and aware, you probably know a bit about Rasam, Appam, Puttu, or Kadala curry. The truth is - South Indian cuisine has all this and much more! Several regions within South India have unique histories that have influenced their culture as well as cuisine. Savya Rasa attempts to break out of the deep-rooted stereotypes to offer you a wide variety of delicacies carefully picked from South India. Savya Rasa's decor is a beautiful blend of the exquisiteness and vibrancy of different parts of Southern India, combining the cultural and artistic elements in equal measure. The carefully curated artifacts, architectural elements, and music accentuate your overall experience of the space. Savya Rasa is currently hosting a Coastal Food Festival at its premises from December 18, 2019, to January 15, 2020. Come, indulge in this unique effort that blends traditional South Indian cooking with an ambiance that pays homage to the glorious culture of the region.

What an amazing place. Went on Onam festival and tried the traditional thali (named Sadya). It was super amazing & tasty. On the top , the service has been fantastic too. We had a friend from Kerala , she said the taste is comparable with authentic Kerala festive meal & she liked it. It's located on 3rd floor inside Ardee Mall and has recently opened.

This place has an authentic South Indian ambience starting from the music to the decor and the staff. Food is also great if you’re into authentic South Indian cuisine. I specially like the Paniyaram.

One of the best south Indian restaurant I've been to . The food was truly beautiful and extravagant, the taste was classic and the service was excellent. It's a hidden gem, Must go restaurant for not only south Indian food but Indian food in general. Only problem I can find is the menu's have no description of the dish. It could be a problem for someone with no background.

Savya Rasa is one of its kind in the city offering some authentic recipies of South. As you enter you will get the vibes of traditional south indian style interiors, dim light, attendants wearing south dhoti kurta. There are some distinct varieties of veg and non veg dishes and trust me you need some help to choose one. We tried Pineapple rasam, Pacha Masala Meen Fry,Kootu Curry, savyarasa bread basket. All had different flavours which i never had before. I liked their pickles full of flavours with right mix of spices. At the end we had filter kaapi served with 4 varieties of sugar. Wow!!! and at last complimentary Make your own paan. We all loved the paan with crunchy and soft fillings. Well portion size was gud but found little overprized esp breadbasket. Staff was courteous, quick and helpful. I don't know if they are serving real authentic recepies but deserves to be tried once.

Visited this place 2 or 3 days before the lockdown. All in all a good decision. Loved their appam and chicken chettinnad! Bun paratha was so so..However, filter coffee was a rich mouthfeel!<br/>Ambience:5/5<br/>Staff:5/5<br/>Food 4.5/5

2 of us went to Savya Rasa for dinner. The place has got a great ambience. It was not crowded, may be because it was a Monday.<br/><br/>They have got some great variety South Indian dishes. We were presented a Tablet that had the menu. Once you click the item there is a short video with description that actually helps. There is option to add the desired item to Short list. But there is no way to place an order directly. We have to read out or ask the person to place the order<br/><br/><br/>We ordered Rava Fried Fish, Idiyappam, Mango Prawns Curry and Egg curry (forgot the name of the dish).<br/><br/>Food was served in 15 minutes. Good quality and quantity was good enough for 2. I didn't like the Mango Prawns much. It did have a Tangy taste<br/><br/>Overall a great dining experience. Another Fine Dine option at Gurgaon.

This is probably the best South Indian cuisine I had in North India. Finally not all dosa and idli, because South India got so much more to offer! Staff and service absolutely professional and lovely! Food is so amazing. We had mutton rasam, will probably have that every time i come here. Prawn starters, a fish curry with coconut gravy (forgot the name, sorry) loved all of it! Including dessert, badam halwa, very tasty not too sweet. And whoever is into cocktails, do try the South Indian twist ones. Can only recommend this place, great food, great service and people. Definitely coming back!

Savya Rasa is authentic South Indian food, beyond Idli & dosa. The Ghee Roast Chicken and Pudi Idly were delicious and fresh. The spicy gravy was packed with favour, appam was warm and soft. Overall, a perfect meal. Portions are also pretty decent.<br/>Staff was friendly & polite, but twice we had to remind them that we had requested for extra chutney & pickle.<br/>Definitely a must-try.

I absolutely love South-Indian food and am always looking for newer places, more diverse offerings, and unique flavours. I stumbled upon Savya Rasa in Ardee Mall and decided to give it a shot. I must say, I walked out knowing I'll back many many more times in the future. The ambience, service, attention to detail, and diverse regional food on offer add up to make for a very new South-Indian dining experience. I had the excellent Bun Parota, the Chettinad Curry, and my newfound love - Paniyaram. Coupled with impeccable service and an ambience reminiscent of Madurai, Savya Rasa is as wholesome as it gets.<br/><br/>To anyone looking to try newer South-Indian flavours and dishes, Savya Rasa is a solid bet. Like me, you'll walk out knowing you've discovered a lesser-known epicurean gem!

Sometimes a review cannot do justice to a place and for me Savya Rasa comes in that category !! Till the time you try the food yourself, you would not understand the intricacies of the preparations. We started with a variety of rasams, followed that up with lip smacking starters which included the , kozhi panirayams and meen polichattu and my favourite Narukattu gola urandai !! I could just have had multiple servings of these and called a day but no - I am greedy !! We followed it up with kori gassi (flavourful) and a mutton stew (delicate) along with bun parotta and millet dosa. Honestly, I could not poke a finger and critique any dish. Such is the mastery of the chefs. If this was mot enough the payasam and badam halwa were the cherry on top of the cake !! So excited to go back soon and I urge you to do yourself a favour and try out the food as well. Savya Rasa means “Flavours from the South” and they totally would give you a royal culinary experience that you always wanted to have in Delhi/NCR.<br/><br/>Follow me on Instagram @SPICEITUPWITHSAM

Savya Rasa is one of those very few restaurants in Delhi NCR which serves authentic South Indian cuisine, and bust the myth that South Indian delicacies are only limited till Sambhar-Dosa.<br/><br/>They have a very vast curated menu of south Indian cuisine from various states both in vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Their staff are well versed with the ingredients and the background of the dishes, which makes the experience Even more better!<br/>I also got a chance to taste few dishes from their Coastal menu which was delicious!<br/><br/>Some of my favorite dishes were:<br/>1. Chutni Paniyaram<br/>2. Naru Kattu gola urundai ( Highly recommended)<br/>3. Malabar fish curry<br/>4. Coastal Thali<br/>5. Mango curry<br/>6. Prawn Biryani<br/>7. Karu patti Halwa - palm Jaggery Halwa

Awesome food and lovely ambience

After a lot of deliberation we finally decided to dine here and we were not disappointed. However, in spite of making a reservation we were given a relatively bad table. Other than that the experience in the restaurant was all good. The vada in rasam and the Kozhi pannayaram were really good. The prawn Varuval was cooked really well and the texture of the prawn just right. The gravy in the egg masala tasted slightly exotic. For the main course we had the bun parotta which was excellent with some gravy prawn dish which was slightly tangy and okay for me. The bisibella followed which was a complete let down. There was no redeeming factor at all. The waiters were all polite and knowledgeable about the food. However, I came to know later that they were serving some millets special menu too of which we were not informed. The ambience was nice and welcoming. A little heating inside the restaurant would have been an added bonus. I just wish they had more Andhra dishes in the menu.

Wow wow wow.....they have really brought back the goodness of south to north....its such a fresh breath of air to have such good authentic South Indian food.   Service - Full 5 for the service, the servers were attentive and prompt. Always ready with suggestions in case you get confused with the menu. Food - Menu is elaborate from south indian authentic food (like serving all flavours of south india ). There are small plates featuring delicacies and then there are the lipsmacking appetizers.  Malabar Urulai Roast - You get to know the freshness of the this dish when you taste its  luscious center. This one is pure love and a must must have here. Kondakadai Kozhukattai - Steamed rice flour dumplings tossed with chick peas taste good. Kozhi Paniyaram-   This was also too good.  The consistency of food at Savya rasa is just right and the balance of flavours is commendable.  Highly recommended ..

I recently visited this lovely restaurant, it serves one of the best coastal food, I tried their coastal thali & few other dishes. The food was really delicious, I would highly recommend the Malabar Fish Curry, Narukattu Gola Urundai was part of the starters. It is prepared using minced mutton and onion with lots of different spices, shaped in balls & then tied in banana twine and deep fried.<br/>It had burst of flavours with a very delicious texture, infact the banana fibers actually helped to enhance the flavors while cooking.<br/>The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, I really loved the food here.

After a very long time, I got the chance to experience the most exotic & authentic South Indian food.<br/>This was my first visit to Savya Rasa where I got to gorge on some of the best delicacies from different regions of South India. The restaurant gives an extremely satisfying and not to forget divine ambience.<br/>Starting from the sumptuous soup to yummy appetizers and not to forget the main course, each and every dish screamed authencity, uniqueness & unforgettable taste of South.<br/>I was quite amazed at the unique way of hospitality showered on the customers here. On the whole, the ambience, quality of each and every ingredient that goes into the making of the dishes, the way the food is served, everything makes you feel that you are on cloud nine!

Posting the review after some months 🙄<br/>So I was super excited for this restaurant's opening because I was in chennai for a year and never got a chance to experience this restaurant there.<br/>The ambience immediately reminded me of the southern colonial buildings which I happened to experience in pondicherry. Absolutely wonderful!<br/>The servers were also very polite.<br/>But the food was a complete let down and trust me I wanted to love it because everything else was just perfect about this place.<br/>I am a vegetarian so I ordered bisi belle bath which is called slightly something else in there menu. I didn't like the flavors at all and was completely forced to finish what was on my plate. My husband ordered something from the non veg dishes and he was equally disappointed. Maybe, we wouldn't have been so let down if the menu offered something from the popular menus like dosa, or any other mainstream food dishes. Though I have been to some other amazing south indian restaurants in chennai and had some good local food as well, but savya rasa just didn't hit the right notes!<br/>The bill was exorbitant of course. Not going again.

Superb food. One of the best manglorean cuisine in India and the best in NCR. Each dish is different and is most authentic south food. Try its prawn options, appams, black rice sweetdish and the best filter coffee in the north. Thanks a ton. Thanks to Puneet who served us well and also helped us choosing the best dish out of the lot.

Savya Rasa is a hidden gem in the heart of Gurgaon city! It is located on 3rd Floor of Ardee Mall which has a good amount of sitting area. The entry is lavish and every corner inside has a story attached to it be it glass shades, pillar, wall paintings or hangings!! <br/><br/>I went to this place for their coastal food fest which is for a short time and is valid till December end. The coastal food fest is quite vast as it consists best of all 4 states - Kerela, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh. Initially we were given complimentary fried chips with 3 different types of pickle namely raw tamarind, mango and lemon. <br/><br/>In starters, we ordered Chutney Paniyarqm which looks more like small sponge shaped ball which is made of batter and slightly pan-fried to give that crispy layer on the outer shell. In a serving you will 6 of such balls which is stuffed with chutney's. Mutton yeral Varuval is primarily an appetizer which is spicy marinated prawns cooked on tawa. <br/><br/>In the mains we ordered Kappa Puzhukku which is a cooked Tapiocas seasoned, mashed and then tempered which was paired with Meen Manga curry - Seer fish with raw mango cubes in a coconut gravy. It's a dish inspired from the ports of Beypore. <br/><br/>Overall, this is truly an exceptional opportunity to indulge with Authentic south indian food and explore the unexplored!

The team is creating an experience and be it culninary or hosting. Puneet was an excellent knowledgeable host. I tried the Christmas special thaali. Most of the gravy items, including the fish (meen) was a super delicious white coconut gravy. A must try is the tender coconut dessert. Keep up the great work. Other restaurants in this business should learn hospitality traits from the team.

One of the best south Indian food restaurant in Delhi. Possibly, the best too. They understand the cuisine and have the finer details . Their thali is very elaborate. Bisi bele bhath was a treat. Very good ambience and a enjoyable fine dining restaurant. I would reccomend this to any one looking for an authentic south Indian food joint and a fine dining experience. For the food they serve and the ambience, the cost is just about right. Keep an eye for Dinesh, for his fine understanding of the cuisine and his reccomendations.

We visited the outlet on for lunch on my mother's Birthday and I had one of the best dining experiences of my life. Its rare nowdays that servers give you individual attention and explain the menu with recommendations. It was fine dining in its truest sense and an exceptional experience mostly attributed to the personal attention of Dinesh, and the amazing food. Dinesh explained each and every dish, gave his recommendations and even served the dishes in order to enhance our dining experience.<br/>Had a wonderful time and would gladly recommend.<br/>This is not the typical dosa idli place and you will not find either of these on the menu.<br/>Highly recommended.<br/>PS: pictures are of the massive south indian thali which is good enough for two and what an amazing collection of dishes from all southern states.
Manik Singh
Epic South Indian food. Easily the best place in Delhi NCR for all types of South Indian cuisine.

Savya Rasa has been the talk of the town ever since it launched. Perched on the second floor of Ardee City Mall, it is a far drive from Delhi, but absolutely worth it. Savya Rasa brings together the cuisine of the four South Indian states together. Delicacies and local favourites from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala beyond what we know of. Malabar paranthas, appams and stews have become popular, but there is so much more to the cuisine.
Rajesh Sood
Portion 2x3 of rasam was too small, one could hardly find mutton and above all masalas were too strong overpowering the taste of rasam. Overall good it was tasty food and good experience.
Eva Sud
An amazing experience shared with family from out of town. Delicious food. Courteous and helpful staff. We will be back for sure.

Exquisite taste and excellent staff ....

The menu is very elaborate and had very authentic options from the south. We started with a tomato coconut rasam soup. It was creamy, light and delicious. For starters we had a chickpeas and rice starter which was very light and quite different. In the main course we had a betel Leaf and garlic biryani with a brinjal curry. The betel Leaf biryani was so refreshing to the palatte. I have never had such a unique dish. It was paired with a cononut curd chutney which complemented it beautifully. The brinjal curry was flavoured with southern spices and had a hint of sambhar. It was good too. For the last course that is desert we ordered 2 beautiful deserts, one was a coconut jelly with whipped cream, it was so light and refreshing, perfect for those looking for a light desert with less sweetness. The other was a jaggery based halwa which was also very good. We ended with a hot cup of filter coffee, and a sweet paan. The ambience was good, the food was good, the service was good. I could not have asked for more. Will visit again surely. 😊

I m a north indian .....did not like the food... For the information of ppl....they dont serve sambhar....for a south indian i must say they have an elaborate menu n serve different curries with a variety of breads(i liked none though)....service is slow but staff us helpful

Great food. Absolutely amazing ingredients and superb menu. The servers are great but ended up serving the mains very late. And missed a starter completely. <br/><br/>So yeah, fix the service and you should get 5 / 5

Savya Rasa is latest entrant in Gurgaon and serves authentic south Indian food. The food is not only from one region but from many regions of South India. Even the ambiance of this restaurant is stunning and inspired from various regions of South India. They even have a stunning painting of Madurai temple. The service is one of the finest I have seen in recent times. Began the meal with Khus Sherbet, which was very refreshing. <br/><br/>Next up was, Mutton Rasam and a creamy tomato rasam. Mutton rasam was full of flavour and packed a punch with garam masala. The tomato rasam was very soul satisfying as well. Dal Vadas with coconut chutney and mini aloo roast were really good veg starters. Pallipalayam Chicken and Banana leaf wrapped fish were the non-veg starters and taste wise I preferred these more than the veg once.<br/><br/>Idiyappam Idly with Veg Stew and Kozhi Mappas which was a chicken curry. All of these three preparations were spot on. Bun Poratta which had the prefect texture and taste was served along with Kalaan Thirattal which was a mushroom curry and Kari Kuzhambu which was a mutton curry and had the most softest and juiciest mutton pieces. Steamed rice with mango curry which I found to be absolute soul food. Chicken Biryani, absolutely authentic preparation with juicy chicken pieces. <br/><br/>Next up was Curd Rice with tadka to balance the palate. In dessert I ate Arisi Halwa which was made by red rice, and the next dessert was Elaneer Payasam, which was creamy and my absolute favourite dessert. Ended the meal with Filter Kaapi which was the best way to end this meal. I loved every dish preparation and the amazing service. Visit to this restaurant, is definitely recommended.   <br/><br/>

The place gives you a very South Indian feeling with elements borrowed from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. <br/>.<br/>.<br/>We started off with a glass of Rose milk and then moved on to Kozhi Rasam (very spicy - perfect for winters as it had loads of pepper). The starters were a little spicy for my taste which included Paneer Ghee Roast, Pallipalayam Kalaan (Mushroom), Urulai podi varuval, Malabar coin parotta with Kozhi (chicken) ghee roast , Narukuttu gola urundai (minced meat balls - my favourites from last night) and mini meen polichthu.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>The main course was lighter on the taste palette as it had Appam with erachi ishtew which mild and flavourful because of the coconut milk and bun parotta with milagu kozhi Chettinad. I skipped the fourth and the fifth course as it was too much food for one night. It had Kongu chicken biryani with thayir pachadi (coconut raita) and thayir saadham (curd rice). <br/>.<br/>.<br/>We tasted AmbalaPuzha paal payasam (made with broken Kerala red rice) and elaneer pudding. Even though I am a desserts person, I did not enjoy the flavours in these two sweet dishes.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>And, at last to make everything settle down we had Sulemani chai.

Just browsing through the menu makes you realise ,how much more there is to South Indian food than just dosas and idlis. Finger lickin' sumptuous food, courteous and polite staff , excellent service ,and a great ambience is what you'll get ,if you pay a visit.<br/>I ordered Mutton Thanjavur Sukka for starters and Kozhi Mappas with Appam and Kal dosai for main course. On having informed the staff that I'd need a little fast service since I had my tickets booked for a movie show , before I knew it the food was on my table.<br/>A great 👍and a highly recommended restaurant for every foodie!<br/>

I am not actually a south Indian food fan but Savya Rasa is an authentic south Indian restaurant at Ardee mall. It is very artistically and beautifully made a place . Tried the panyaram for starters and then had mushroom dosa. The mushroom dosa was soooo yummy . Also had a starter which was served with bun parotha but that was over spicy. The bun parotha was amazing though. We also had coconut pudding which was again really nice,Overall a great experience.
The Feast That's Life
For quite a few people, South Indian food, though a favorite, often gets limited to dosa, idli and vada. But there is such diversity in the cuisine, that even categorizing the delicacies from the different regions in Southern India in one bucket is a travesty. Savya Rasa, after gaining popularity for taking people on a wonderful epicurean journey through Southern India at its outlets in Chennai and Pune, has recently opened up an outlet in Gurgaon. Savya Rasa celebrates the dishes from seven regions of Southern India- Mangaluru, Mysuru, Nellore, Kongunadu, Chettinad, Nasrani and Malabar, each with their distinct cultural identities. The people behind the brand have travelled extensively across these culinary regions and spent years learning from local cooks, chefs, grandmothers and housewives to make sure that every dish we serve is authentic.<br/><br/>The outlet at Gurgaon impresses from the get-go with its intricately carved wooden door, colorful glass windows that you would typically find in old houses, a beautiful Kalamkari painting hanging on one wall, and a soothing ambience made better with traditional music playing in the background, all of which add to the overall experience. <br/><br/>They have two flavored water options available, other than regular water- khus root water which is good to have on an empty stomach and cools the stomach down, and zeera water which is good for digestion. We started with the khus root water and kept the other one for later. There was a lovely, mild and refreshing khus flavor in the water. Then, we were served two types of papad- rice flour and sabudana with three types of pickles- raw mango, narangi and tamarind. While all three were lovely, our favorite was the spicy and sour tamarind pickle. <br/><br/>We had a seven course degustation menu that was specially curated for us, with items picked from all regions- with an extensive selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Before starting with the degustation menu, we ordered for two drinks- Vasantha Neer and Neer Moru. Neer Moru was a spiced buttermilk, flavored with coriander and curry leaves, and Vasantha Neer was a lovely drink made with tender coconut water, lime juice and honey. <br/><br/>The first course consisted of rasam. The Thengai Paal Rasam was a coconut milk broth mixed with tomato puree and tempered with ghee. The consistency was a bit thick and creamy and the flavors were really robust. The Kozhi Rasam was a hearty and soothing chicken broth made with chicken stock cooked with hand pounded spices. The pepper flavor really shone through, and the chicken pieces were soft and juicy as well. <br/><br/>Next, we had a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters, starting with Siru Sola Varuval, a dish from the Kongunadu region, consisting of baby corn marinated with chili powder, lime juice and ginger-garlic paste, and deep fried till crispy, served along with some fried curry leaves. The batter on the baby corn was full of flavor, and the dish didn’t feel oily at all, despite being deep fried. A dish worth trying!<br/><br/>Next, we had the Kondakadalai Kozhukkattai, a very home-style dish again from Kongunadu. The dish had steamed rice flour dumplings tossed with chickpeas, trio of peppers and onions seasoned with hand-blended spices. The rice flour dumplings were shaped exactly like chickpeas and the resemblance was so close that only after tasting could we decipher which piece is a chickpea and which is the dumpling. This was a really light dish, with the prominent flavors being that of mustard seeds. The dish was served with some fried papad topped with a lovely spice mix.<br/><br/>Paneer Monica, a dish from Coimbatore, had batons of paneer marinated with kongunadu chili powder mix, deep fried to perfection and then pan tossed with curd and slit green chilies. The paneer was super soft and creamy, and the curd had given it a lovely sour flavor. This is a must-have dish!<br/><br/>Coming to the non-veg starters, we had Sainu Thatha’s Kozhi Kebab, a dish with Arab influences from the Malabari homemaker – Sainu Thatha. This was a really different dish consisting of griddled succulent skewered chicken delicately flavored with crushed pepper and coconut milk. The marinade was really creamy and had a slight sweetness to it from the coconut milk which was nicely counterbalanced with the pepper. <br/><br/>The Pacha Masala Meen Fry is another must-have dish here, consisting of a fillet of seer fish marinated with homemade spicy green masala which had a mix of curry leaves, coriander, green chilies. The fish was soft and flaky and the masala, very similar to cafreal was spicy and flavorsome. <br/><br/>The Venchina Mamsa Koora, a dish from Nellore, is another one that shouldn’t be missed. This was a super spicy dish consisting of tender morsels of mutton sautéed with browned onions, green chilies, ground coriander, hand-powdered spice masala and curry leaves. The mutton had imbibed the lovely flavors of the spices and chilies and was extremely delicious. <br/><br/>For the third course, we had two dishes paired with neer dosa and another two paired with bun parotta. <br/><br/>The Batata Pathanja Gassi was a gravy dish from Mangaluru, consisting of potato cubes and green gram sprouts stewed in a creamy coconut gravy with garlic, tomato, onions and curry leaves. The Kori Gassi was a rich and creamy chicken curry made from coconut milk, flavored with garlic and curry leaves and we enjoyed both of these dishes with neer dosa, a delicate crepe made with rice batter and coconut oil.<br/><br/>The Kalaan Thirattal from Kongunadu was a thick curry made with button mushrooms, groundnuts, shallots and red chilies, and had a creamy, velvety texture. The Pollachi Kari Kuzhambu had tender mutton pieces simmered with drumstick and aubergine, flavored with cinnamon, cardamom, fennel and black pepper. The mutton was soft and the gravy was delicate but full of flavor. <br/><br/>We enjoyed both these dishes with Bun Parotta, which was a star! It was a fluffy multi-layered bread made with refined wheat flour, egg and butter, and was much crispier and flakier than Malabar paranthas.<br/><br/>The fourth course had two amazing rice dishes- the Vetrilai Poondu Saadam was a stellar dish made with short grain rice flavored with digestive betel leaves and fried garlic – a secret recipe from the land of the Cheras, from Kongunadu. This has to be one of the best vegetarian biryanis we’ve had, and the combination of the fried garlic and the betel leaves imparted so much flavor to the dish. The dish was served with Thengai Thayir Pachadi, a coconut and yogurt raita. The Kozhi Chatti Biryani had tender pieces of chicken, pot-roasted and flavored with nutmeg, cinnamon and carom seeds, slow-cooked with short grain rice, from Chettinad. This spicy, flavorsome biryani was served with Thayir Pachadi or onion raita. <br/><br/>The fifth course had Thayir Saadham or curd rice, to cool our stomachs down after all the dishes we’d had so far. This delicacy from the region of Kongunadu had steamed ponni rice mixed with yogurt and tempered with mustard seeds, carrot and fried curry leaves. The curd rice was served with deep fried curd chilies, and if you’ve never tried these chilies, you’re really missing something.<br/><br/>The sixth course had desserts- Elaneer Payasam and Badam Halwa. The Elaneer Payasam was a light, delicate and mildly sweetened dish made with tender coconut water and tender coconut milk, and had some fresh coconut pieces in it as well, and was delightful. The Badam Halwa, a classic sweet made with badam paste and sweetened with sugar, was really rich and full of ghee. <br/><br/>Our seventh and last course consisted of Filter Kaapi and Sulaimani Tea, which were served with four types of sugar- plain sugar, brown sugar, palm sugar and coconut sugar. We especially loved the flavor of the palm sugar and coconut sugar. The filter coffee had a strong brew made with freshly roast and ground Arabica coffee beans. The Sulaimani Tea was a robust tea flavored with cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaf.<br/><br/>Since a lot of these dishes were new for us, our served Dinesh explained the origins, ingredients and preparation of each dish, which made the experience even better. <br/><br/>Overall, Savya Rasa provides amazing food and a view into the richness of the cuisines from Southern India in a lovely ambience, with exceptional service. This place is highly recommended!

Savya is a welcome addition to the South Indian culinary experience in Gurgaon. From the ambience to its elaborate veg and non-veg offerings, it offers an experience worth savoring. The food might be on the spicier side but authentic to the core. The servers are very helpful in explaining combinations which work well and are patient and indulging. Overall a superb place which we are sure to revisit soon. A few thoughts on the menu. Please make the thali a standard offering at all times. At the moment it is a lunch offering on weekdays. Also, maybe too much to ask but a crab preparation would be an exceptional addition to the menu.

Rarely do you find a restaurant where everything is so perfect. Started with a pineapple flavoured rassam, fruity spicy, what a taste, a must try. The ishtew was well balanced, full of vegetables which it should be. Great flavours , delightfully tangy in Manga Curry. And yes the egg appam was a treat to eat with such a freshly made coconut chutney. For breads we ordered a bread basket and the bun parantha wins hands down. Most importantly such well educated staff about the menu, great advise for a vegetarian dinner. Above all a refreshing coconut water pudding as desert and yes in true South Indian spirit a self made sada paan. Boss gives a serious run for the money for upmarketers like Dakshin, slightly steep but worth a try , will surely go there again for try some non veg stuff. If faults I must find are a cold water bowl for dinner bowls and more than heavy weight for cutlery. But the food and service and involvement if waiters wins hands down on this one.

Food was good, service was quick and staffs were courteous! Payasam was bit sweet for my taste bud rest was fine esp sambar and raw banana sabzi! Would visit the place again to taste the rest of the menu !

I wanted to visit this new eatery in Ardee city mall in g town to sample Southside non veg delicacies.<br/>It certainly lives up to fine dining standards. We reserved a seat for 3 . We received a call for a polite check for arrival as we were delayed by about 10 minutes. We were told they will keep the table ready . It took them about 5 minutes to usher us in. Ambience is warm and cozy. Staff was impeccably dressed in white.<br/>We ordered much recommended pineapple rasam and it was flavorful . Our next course was min meen polichathu. Its fillets of seer fish cooked in tomato and onion masala in banana leaf. This was a huge disappointment in terms of taste and portion and price. Five small pieces of fish in somewhat uncooked masala which had not flavoured the fish for Rs 795 was bad deal. Meanwhile we were served some fried rice papads on the house which go very well with rasam and the pickles.<br/>Our next course was mutton stew and appam which lived up to the standards of good south Indian restaurant. Stew consistency was thin , delicately flavoured with right amount of black pepper. Appam could have been crispier on the sides. What I liked was a staff member coming with an appam and on realizing that it had got overcooked ,immediately offered to replace . Hallmark of good service.<br/>A meal here is rounded of paan and dry fruit mix .<br/>The cost of this meal was 2600 rs.

Everyone knows how much I enjoyed my first visit to Savya Rasa in Madras. So I was delighted to know they had opened in Gurgaon. Our Influencers and members from Gurgaon Moms enjoyed a very well thought out and intricately planned menu.<br/>My two favourites - The Karuveppilai Yeral Varuval<br/>Prawns seasoned with homemade curry leaf powder, spices and deep fried & Vetrilai poondu Saadham with Thengai Thayir Pachadi<br/>Short grain rice flavoured with digestive betel leaves and fried garlic. This is a secret recipe !<br/><br/>However I have new loves :<br/><br/>Mini Meen Pollichathu<br/>Mini fillets of seer fish marinated with tangy masala made of tomato, red chillies, onions, and tamarind. Rolled in a banana leaf and grilled on a tawa.<br/><br/>And that uber flaky Bun Parotta !<br/><br/>A beautiful giveaway was the icing on the cake.<br/><br/>Do go if you want to discover untold stories of the South and explore #MorethanIdliDosa

After having had the Onam Sadhya at their Chennai outlet last year, I am pretty disappointed with the service in this one. <br/>If they are claiming of 31 dishes, they should make sure that they serve 31 dishes. I went there last week on the 11th at 2.45 for Onam Sadhya and after waiting for 15 minutes with empty plates and 2 reminders did the service start. I think they were having immense difficulty in managing a fully occupied restaurant. <br/>Coming to the food, again it took multiple reminders to reach the count of 21-25 dishes on our plates and when asked for a second serving of a particular dish, it had gotten over and a new dish had to be made and served in its place! <br/>The rating I have given is just based on the fact that the food tasted good compared to other Onam Sadhya’s in the city and the staff was cordial.

So I woke up on Onam day feeling bad to be away from my folks in Kerala. To top it up my mom rings me up in middle of her morning Onam routine of cooking the legendary sadhya and makes me drool.I decide I had enough feeling blue and open Zomato fixated on eating Onam lunch that day, stumble upon savya rasa .I quickly made a reservation and poped up at restaurant around noon to binge on the Kerala food . I was just mind blown .They were spot on nailing the taste .I loved each and every dish on the plate .May be some dishes lacked a lil bit of Kerala flavour but I didn't mind as they were yummilcious .The service was lovely. They did have both black and white payasam which made me really happy and they tasted really good. Inshort their food made my Onam special and miss my home a lil less .I would definitely come back to taste what else they have in their menu .

<br/>Savya rasa is newly opened restaurant in Ardee mall. This place is serving phenomenal South Indian food- and it's beyond the usual idli and dosa! The theme of the restaurant is designed in such a creative way with beautiful wall paintings and colorful glass art. Service was impeccable and the staff was extremely warm and courteous-indeed a great hospitality of this place.  Every time they served a dish, they served it with a smile which matters a lot to every customer. Being  a vegetarian, I was impressed by the variety of veg dishes this place offered.<br/><br/>Savya Rasa is all set to serve Onam Sadhya and their menu is nothing short of decadent.   We indulged  into typical Keralite grubs – right from pappadums to payasam, they’ve got it all!  Banana Chips, jackfruit chips, lemon, ginger and mango pickles, Aviyal, thoran, Pineapple pachadi, Sambar,   Pulissery, and 20 other dishes. We ended our meal with two yummy desserts- paalada pradhaman and pazham pradhanam. Savya Rasa, true to the festive tradition, they  served this feast on a banana leaf.   This droolworthy Sadhya is Kerala on a platter!   Be prepared to have your mind blown with a toothsome meal . Highly recommended.<br/><br/>24.08.2019<br/><br/>This place has many dishes which have eclectic combination of mouth watering dishes from the Southern states of India. This place truly celebrates rich culture and culinary delights of the South. <br/><br/>My favourites from the menu-<br/><br/>1. Pineapple rasam-this was tangy and spicy rasam made with pineapple. Its aroma is just another bonus to our meal.<br/><br/>2. Hukosu bezele- cauliflower florets marinated with kempu masala, deep fried and pan tossed in yogurt and green chillies. Being a spice lover, I relished this dish.<br/><br/>3. Chutney paniyaram- this rice and lentil dish seasoned with tempered mustard, onion and turmeric powder is a must try.<br/><br/>4. Idyiappam idly with stew- veggies cooked in coconut milk and flavoured with spices paired up perfectly with vermicelli idly.<br/><br/>5. Paalkatti dosai- paneer masala on pancakes is another stellar dish. A taste you will always remember. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.<br/><br/>6. Bisibele huli with bondhi- flavorful melange of rice, lentils and spices served with boondi.<br/><br/>7. Thayirsadham- steamed ponni rice mixed with yogurt and tempered with mustard seeds. Very soothing dish and light for digestion.<br/>8. Bun parotta- though this bread is loaded with calories but it is totally worth it. Very flaky and delicious.<br/><br/>For drinks, I had Nannari sherbet and rasatini- both drinks were refreshing.  <br/><br/>So overall I am definitely recommending this place.  Definitely a wonderful dining option  in terms of decor, service & food. Staff was friendly and welcoming. This place definitely creates sensory experience in every bite that you take!  <br/><br/>Follow my food journey on instagram - teekhi_mircheee<br/><br/>

Outstanding Onasadya on Onam at SavyaRasa.. the food is an authentic delight. This was my first Onasadya ever and I am sure I am in love with it.. the ambience, staff and food everything is just perfect at this place. Must go for south Indian food lovers

What a culinary experience we had. My search for authentic south Indian fine dining in gurgaon comes to an end after 12 years of untiring efforts.<br/>Unmatched hospitality and warm reception makes this place a definitely one great place to go for if you are looking for that original & soulful touch of south from chairs to paintings on the wall.<br/>.<br/><br/>The typical Sadhya features at least 20 dishes and requires hours of prep. At Savya Rasa, at special Onam Sadhya the restaurant featured whopping 31 dishes that are served in an orchestrated sequence. I enjoyed the tangy Kaalan, a single vegetable (usually yam) cooked on a low flame with Sour yoghurt and coconut the most .<br/>5/5<br/><br/>I would highly recommend this place to everyone.<br/>

Newly opened South Indian restaurant at Ardee Mall . It has fine dining. Ambience is very much calm n beautiful. As Onam festival is coming, they have launched their new menu for the Onam . Food menu is big enough . Quality is upto mark. Staff members are in proper dress of Onam attire i.e White shirt and Mundu . They were serving sincerely with full details of food items. Their menu is in the form of buffet provided at table .<br/>Food Menu is<br/><br/>ONAM SADHYA@ SAVYA RASA2019<br/>7th-13th Sept. 2019<br/>* Sambharan<br/>* Sharkara Varatti/ Upperi/ Chakka chips/ ghee/ pappadam<br/>* Injipull/ Manga achar/ Naranga achar<br/>* Salt<br/>* Pazham<br/>* Mulaku Varuthathu<br/>* Parippu Vada<br/>* Chammanthi<br/>* Pachadi<br/>* kichadi<br/>* Aviyal<br/>* Thoran<br/>* Mezhkkuperatti<br/>* Eriserry<br/>* Puliserry<br/>* kalan<br/>* olan<br/>* kootu curry<br/>* Kuthari choru<br/>* parippu curry<br/>* Sambar<br/>* Rasam<br/>* Moru kaichiyathu<br/>* Paalada Pradhaman pazham<br/><br/>Quality is superb. Had Onam Sadhya here. Very friendly staff, great ambience and great food. The dress, the music and the food really took me back to Kerala.<br/><br/>Some people may complain about the authenticity of the food being influenced by other southern states, but trust me, it's as close to authentic Kerala food you can get. I just wish that a small menu card could be kept on the table to tell us about all the different parts of the meal for us to introduce and explain to our non Mallu friends.<br/><br/>Every part of the meal was good but for me the one thing that I savoured the most was the payasams, especially the ada pradaman.<br/><br/>Though there was a little delay in the service, it can be attributed to the non Mallu staff who did not know the sequence of the dishes to be served. But let this not take away anything from the experience of the Onam Sadhya. Hoping to be there once more before they wind up the Onam celebrations.

Got aware by a Social Media post about the Onam Sadya offering at Savya Rasa & decided to travel all the way from Delhi along with family to try this out, esp given the Sadya is served only during the Onam festival days.<br/><br/>Given I had the Onam Sadya experts with me (Dad & Mom), I just focused on the ambience and quality of food whilst my parents shared details wrt authenticity and compared it with other nice establishments in Delhi known for serving Onam Sadhya.<br/><br/>The food quality and ambience was good, though the authenticity wrt the Sadhya can be improved upon. There seemed to be influence from other states in the dishes served, as also how the dishes were served : Nothing which cannot be improved upon & implemented in the coming days and years, :)<br/><br/>Would like to give a shoutout to the Staff who were dressed impeccably in the Onam attire (White shirt & Mundu), & serving sincerely and with a smile.<br/><br/>Would like this establishment to do well : Hope you focus on the specialities, keep the dishes authentic and true to their form, esp for patrons who might drop by for a taste of their homeland state. Wishing the Team Best,

Recently opened in Ardee Mall, Gurgaon - Savya Rasa is surely going to be on my RECOMMENDED list for anyone in the vicinity. One of the best coastal cuisine I have tried in Delhi NCR. Right from the overall ambiance to the support staff, everything deserves a 5/5 rating.<br/><br/>Out of the number of items tried, my recommended dishes are - <br/><br/>1. Pineapple Rasam <br/>2. Chutney Paniyaram<br/>3. Idyiappam with stew<br/>4. Paalkatti dosai<br/>5. Bidibele huli with bondhi<br/><br/>In drinks I tried Nannari sherbet and rasatini, both equally refreshing. <br/><br/>In a nutshell, Savya Rasa deserves nothing less than 5/5 for its excellent food, service and ambiance.<br/><br/>Waiting for them to open up in South Delhi!!

Not wrong to say, new baap on the block. Modern take on South Indian cuisine without any crap. Tried their signature elephant yam, fish n mushroom starters. Lipsmacking. Missed the mutton balls as run out. Need to stock more qty. Twist to rasam - pineapple n coconut were wonderful. Main course was decent especially the bun parota was a surprise. Neer pudding was light n less sweet and yum. Don't miss it. Pineapple n strawberry crush drink was refreshing. Staff was courteous n prompt. Ambience needs some improvement plus the smell at the entry. At the end, don't miss the orange candies which will revive younger days nostalgia. All in all, worth a visit.

Tucked away on Level 3 of Gurgaon’s latest Ardee Mall ( which is also a nice place) this gem of South Indian gastronomy is a welcome addition to the food culture of the NCR. To the uninitiated who thought Idly & Dhosa(h is deliberate) was the pinnacle of South Indian food, a visit to this restaurant is a must. From fiery fish pulusu of Andhra to the Gassi of Mangalore all to be had with fluffy bun parota or gentle neer dosas and rounded off with Chettinad black rice pudding (an import from the Mandalay trading days), there is wonderful food to be tasted. We have eaten at their Kotturpuram outlet in Chennai and were so glad that they have followed us here to Gurgaon. Strongly recommend Savya Rasa to all lovers of good food and if not sure about what to eat with what, just ask the well informed staff who will gladly help.

I have been to the Chennai restaurant so went here with high expectations. Glad that the expectation were met. Food was authentic South Indian and service was excellent. Had the Thanjavur Mutton Sukka and Coin Parotta with Chicken for starters. For main course we had Kori Gassi with Neer Dosa and Pollachi Mutton Kozhumbu with Bun Parotta. All were excellent. The bun Parotta is a special dish and not very common even in the south, is a must have. Overall very good departure from the run of the mill masala dosa type South Indian fare available in NCR. Highly recommended!

Authentic South Indian food. Finger licking I would say. Had visited there Pune outlet and when they opened one in Gurgaon, I had to visit. The food is awesome a wide array of dishes, try out the bun parotha, mutton soup, fish in coconut gravy... just yummy. Overall my experience has been great and would go back again

We're talking of the newest mall of G-town, and within that, the newest Foodie destination - Savya Rasa at Ardee Mall..<br/>3rd floor here houses some big names, but the promote has taken over the entire corner diagonally opposite Big Chill. This joint offers some very unique and appealing dishes from across the South Indian states. They seem to have maybe adapted the dishes a little, to suit the taste buds of the views in Gurgaon, and some of the friends (read most), said that they would have wanted the dishes to be a bit more spicy or punchy, I think for me, safe is good. Off late, I somehow like dishes that go smooth with your system and palate - and unlike some extremely spicy dishes from Hyd, etc, the order here was quite balanced, I felt.<br/>The rasam with ribs is really the perfect start for the meal. (Mutton nenjjelumbu rasam).<br/>Fish prepared with a green coating Masala marinatiom is a must have (dish called Pacha Masala Meen Fry), and their ghee roast doesn't knock you out with the overdose of ghee, but it feels as if they held back on a few punches - and as I wrote earlier, I actually liked that. It helps avoid the food handover the next morning.<br/>Whether it's a function of a new setup or otherwise, the service levels were amazing!<br/>They have a weekday thali, where I have suggested them to have a relook at the pricing once more. I feel that their dishes are competitively priced, and therefore when one orders a weekday thali, the already spoilt consumer expects to get a steal deal (Greedy greedy).<br/>Overall it was an extremely refreshing experience, where one can safely say that there's not a single restaurant which has attempted this model till now. Do remember to order their suleimani chai while you call for the cheque :)<br/>Good job!<br/>

#ReviewsByAditti<br/><br/>In today’s ultra competitive restaurant scene, not many can uphold their place in the business of deliciousness. SAVYA RASA, is all about unspooling the allure of the entire length and breadth of the seven South Indian states. The glory of the land finds its ode here as the setting riffs on regional fare and traditional comfort. This brand new place in Gurgaon has a sophisticated vibe alright. Think intricately carved main door and neat windows from Chettinad ; a wall graced with spectacular pen art, the Kalamkari ; dark hued rosewood furniture etc etc. Such handsome interiors coupled with a gifted team, working seriously enough, home sourced (some home grown) ingredients, a thoroughly researched menu and nothing airbrushed into a shape/taste that doesn’t belong. It’s a hope inspiring set up indeed. <br/><br/>The seven course degustation menu curated for our group of eight was faultless. Served with energy and poise, a hallmark of a well trained staff, we explored one dish at a time, each inspiring gulosity in its own way.<br/><br/>My drink of choice was a NANNARI SHARBAT. It arrived beautifully presented, it’s ingredients meant to cool down the body, but what it stirred up for me was a party in my mouth... besides masking the heat from SIRU SOLA VARUVAL, a fried babycorn starter with a strong hint of chillies. MALABAR COIN PAROTTA ( a little bigger than bite size ) with PANEER GHEE ROAST/KORI GHEE ROAST and YERAL VARUVAL ( PRAWN ROAST) which was cooked crisp and flavourful were the other starters and individually tasted of happiness.<br/><br/>While most relished the super fiery MUTTON NENJELUMBU RASAM, I opted to NOT drink my calories.<br/><br/>The main course was large. Though I may not remember every fine nuance of a dish but what I do remember is the satisfaction at the end of it all. <br/><br/>IDIYAPPA IDLY (steamed rice vermicelli, very delicate in texture), came in with ENNAI KATHRIKKAI KOZHAMPHU (sautéed brinjals stuffed with ground masalas) and KOZHI MAPPAS (mild coconut based chicken gravy). <br/><br/>BUN PAROTTA, the buttery balls of flaky Parotta were made with love and calories in huge measures and then served with KALAAN THIRATTAL (mushrooms, groundnuts, shallots etc) and MILAGU KOZHI CHETTINAD (Chicken gravy). #AMustHave<br/><br/>Steamed Rice was dished out with ULLI THEEYAL (Shallots in tamarind pulp and “Varutharacha” masala) and CHEPALA PULUSU (Cubes of seer fish in a tamarind/chillies/tomato gravy). By now it was difficult to manage another mouthful and equally hard to say a NO.<br/><br/>Thayir Saadham (Curd Rice), ably soothed the now lit insides with a gentle sleight of flavours.<br/><br/>ELANEER PAYASAM, a thin flowing coconut cream dessert. simmered in milk ++ and served chilled, looked enticing enough. <br/><br/>But to my luminous surprise, I ignored it.<br/><br/>Because I had a date with KAVUNI ARISI HALWA, (Kavuni rice native to Burma and brought to India by the Chettiar community, roasted and thickened with milk).<br/>Its dark, rich and gooey goodness had ALL my attention. <br/><br/>FILTER KAPPI ? The eternal crowd pleaser. As it was, that evening too. <br/><br/>It surely was a happy challenge to finish this spread but then maybe we were served fiction in the name of food. Who knows! As long as SAVYA RASA stays true to its purpose, only once here will not be enough! <br/><br/>If you go :<br/><br/>#SavyaRasa<br/>3rd Floor, Ardee Mall, Sector 52, Gurugram

Absolutely love this place. So much variety reflecting the diversity of cuisines from across South India, and everything is done to perfection.<br/><br/>The standouts for me in my 2 visits here were the Narukattu Gola Urundai (a kind of deep fried mutton ball geld together with banana fibre), Gongura Mamsam ( mutton cooked with Sorrell leaves), and pocket rice (a complete meal in itself). The Kavuni Arisi Halwa made with black rice was also outstanding.<br/><br/>I love that they have flavoured waters in lieu of plain water. I'm a fan of their vetiver water.<br/><br/>Their service is of the highest quality... Articulate waiters that know the menu well and can make recommendations that work. They have pictures of all dishes, which is immensely helpful if you are unfamiliar with the cuisine.<br/><br/>Finally, the ambience is outstanding. Everything works together beautifully.

One of the best places in Gurgaon for South Indian Cuisine. Slightly on the higher side on cost but the experience is worth it. Must try - Rameshwaram Packet Rice. The staff are very helpful and we'll trained.

A very newly opened (3days ago) fine dining pan south Indian food restaurant. Perhaps the best south Indian food I have had in any restaurant since Dakshin. Service is great, both in serving and courtesy. Very highly recommended. My personal recommendation would be Rameshwaram Pocket rice and bread basket (with a difference). <br/> <br/><br/>Post script - I found that for some reasons they have priced their filter coffee at an atrocious rate. Not in line with rest of the menu at all
