Review Gam's Delicacy - Guwahati

Traditional Aasami food can be enjoyed here.Service is slow. Very costly as compared to other good options. Mostly crowded place.

Gam's has one of the best authentic Assamese thalis around. Had a pork thali with a sweet lassi. The food was excellent. The lassi was a bit more aerated than what I'm used to drinking, but otherwise good. There's enough parking available for both 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers. The location is great, and the service road is good. Highly recommended.
Nilesh Pandit
The place serves great local assamese thali. They serve good food with so much love. Food is served on a bronze plate and bowls which is considered a tradition in our culture. Staff behaviour is very good. The thalis served are unlimited and can be refilled on the table on request, rather the staff keeps coming to table to enquire your needs. Overall a good experience with tasty food. I tried fish which eas great and I am sure other non veg thalis would be equally good.

10/10 authentic Assamese food. Worth all the money. From the complimentary soup served before the meal to the kheer served as a desert at the end, everything was top notch.

Was in Guwahati for a day and was advised to have atleast one meal at Gam's Delicacy, luckily the restaurant was just 5 km away from my hotel so visited for dinner. The restaurant on GS Road is easy to locate, the interiors are simple and welcoming and the staff was very courteous. I had the Chicken Delicacy Thali and it was amazing, especially the Chicken curry and the patit diya chicken. The yellow dal, black dal and other veg dishes served were mild and full of flavour. I would love to visit this place again.

We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes drive away from home. I went there three or four times. The food is stunning. It's an authentic assamese restaurant. You find the varieties of assamese food items in their menu. I ordered a veg thali and smoked chicken. Veg thali was perfect but the smoked chicken was not so good in taste. They served ginger soup before the meal and different kinds of pickles and chutney were also given along with the meal. They have good seating arrangements, truly a family restaurant. Overall it was a good experience of mine.

•Probably my 5th time visiting this restaurant, Gam's delicacy is a family dining restaurant that mainly serves assamese cuisine. •Before the meal, they serve soup for increasing the appetite. •Ordered the veg thali, dal fry and mutton curry. •The thali and the dal was average. •The mutton was well cooked and full of spices. The option for potato was also available which is i think great. •The prices are moderate : Veg thali Rs. 200 Dal Rs. 110 Mutton Rs. 430

You can find pure Assamese Thali here. One of the top rated restaurant specially for thali. 4pm to 7 pm, they are not served Thali. Taste is moderate. They are provided clear soup as complimentary starter. If you go for taste then you should order ala carte. Ambience is good. Complete family restaurant. The staff behaviour is very polite and descent. Specially, Jitendra from Gams Krishna market Ganeshguri was very nice guy.

Decent place to try authentic Assamese food, try the pork platter to taste 4 different pork flavours. Situated below Ganeshguri fly over and parking was the only problem.

You’re going to need a nap after the Assamese thali here. Great food and presentation. Parking is a huge pain so it’s best to be take Uber or public transit to this neighborhood.

Good food at affordable prices along with well behaved staff.

Was skeptic at first but when the items started to flow in was really 👌. Didn't have a good ethnic dish for a long time and was really hard to get one. Happy that me and my wife got to experience this and definitely would come again for this delicious meal 😋. Happy meals.

If you visit Guwahati then you have to visit this restaurant. One of the finest restaurant of Guwahati. You can take lunch or dinner which you want. The service is awesome. Lots of yummy foods you can order. The menu is full of delicious food items with different kinds of dishes of pork, pigeon and duck. By the way you can take veg thali too. If you take any veg item you can feel the taste of home. And you will get some food items in the bowl which i made by Kaanh. When you order you food the waiter will.serve you a full bowl of homemade veg garlic soup. It is so tasty. In the rainy season or winter season its very helpful to get sweat. Lol. Card payment facility is also available here.

Just visited Gam's on the way back from Shillong to Guwahati airport.

Location is great as it is on the way so great stop for those travelling :)

Place is huge and spacious, fast and friendly service with great food and prices making it family friendly place where kids can run around :).

We shared simple meal as we were fed up with food at this point haha - yellow daal, rice, green veggies, chicken khorika (ok taste), kheer.

Only negative is dirty bathrooms with no toilet paper :( - please make more efforts to maintain better hygiene levels.

Must try restaurant situated near airport road.
Whole restaurant is made from bamboo including 66% of the rooftop.
They have parking space and all facilities so dont worry about being made of bamboos.

This review is for evening snacks:
We ordered
Hakka noodles - well prepared and tasty
Crispy chilli baby corn - real crispy and tasty
Veg. American choupsey - very good, pineapples were balancing the taste, not much spicy.
Tea - it was machine tea(CCD) so dont expect much, if you like strong tea then you have to mention or explain clearly to staff.
Veg. Manchurian - was tasty

Service : For good food sometimes wait is tasty.
We had to wait for half an hour but food was satisfactory so no regrets.

4 out of 5 overall.

Although the prices are a bit higher but the food it really good. The ambience and the staff is just a cherry on the top. Their smoked pork and smoked chicken are my personal favourite.

Serving the most Exquisite assamese cuisine. Traditional dishes are love. Well organized ambience and excellent service. Definitely give a visit with your family and enjoy an amazing meal with the assamese delicacy. Happy eating! :)

This place is very good in serving good assamese dishes, coz it got good variety. The taste is homely, ambience is also typically restaurant look and feel (lighting is very low I felt). Will recommend to go for thali for the first timer, coz of the variety.

Service-👍
Ambience-✋
Food-👌

Owkay so coming straight to its food, if you are a typical assamese person who like to have vat and a wholesome of assamese dish than guys this is the place . You can never complain about the food its delicious . Here you can order thali here which cost like 400 to 500 ,and it will make you tummy and heart full. But yeah you may need to wait a bit until the food is served, a lot of customers happened to be there and hence they fail to manage . Overall its really good you must try. Whenever i crave of rich assamese dishes ,i jump up to this place😋🤩

This Place was a sudden visit but, it was a great dining experience here. The restaurant has a quiet ambiance and the seating arrangement was sorted. We ordered for a single Pork Thali for two people and it was amazing. I usually don;t go for the veggies and stuff but it was really good. The Pork pieces were tender and juicy and was sufficient for both of us. One thing which is applaudable is the service. The guy who hosted/ served us had amiable nature. He made us comfortable and kept coming and asking us for second helpings. He even went out of his way and served us two kheers while the thali comes with only one. Very small gesture but it was overwhelming. Good Job Guys!

Had stopped here for lunch while on my way from Shillong. And what a treat it was!!! Simply mind blowing. The place was quite beautifully decorated. Very hospitable staff. Assamese food at its best. Had ordered some river fish curry. Fish was very fresh and the curry was subtly spiced. Then we had pigeon meat curry and smoked mutton that was fried. Both tasted great. Double thumbs up for the taste and quality and quantity of food. Service was little slow. Looking to visit again next time I go to Guwahati. The management should think of expanding in Kolkata. There is a very good demand of north eastern cuisine in Kolkata.

Today I was here for 1st time.. Order Veg thali n chicken curry the test was so delicious.. Specially the chicken cury was soo testy. I loved that so much... Also behavior of staff was realy good... Design of interior was really nice...satisfied..
Anish Thakkar
Extremely poor in taste.
We were a group of 20 people and ordered a mix of veg and non veg.
Veg food taste was extremely below standard.
Service is very slow & it is prohibitively expensive.
Definitely not worth it.

Nice Food ,tasty, not too much spicy , hygiene. For lunch and dinner you can go with family or with friends.
Service is quite well, responsive

Veg thali with rohu fish curry is my all time favourite, a very well known place in guwahati , good ambience easy to locate and also to have a authentic assamese food experience, its a place to give a try, didnt click any pics of the food but would recommend people to visit
Joel
They serve simple food at high rates.
Haven't tried all their items though.
The kheer and the chicken BBQ was good though.
Note: This was an online order.
Can't say whatsoever about the ambience of the place.
Abhishek Saikia
Authentic Assamese cuisine. Good ambience. Okay service. The taste is authentic and fresh. One of the oldest just Assamese joints in Guwahati.
Warada Bhagwat
Fantastic food and friendly staff. We ordered Veg Sweet Corn Soup and Veg Thali. The soup was delicious while the thali was loaded with different delicious Assamese delicacies. Would love to visit again.
Vishal Sanjeeva
A good place for thalis. They allow you to share a thali which lets you call for more side dishes like pork. This seemed like a popular eat out so booking your table ahead won't be a bad idea.
Imdadul Choudhury
A well known place for traditional Assamese cuisine. The ambience is good. Neither too loud nor too dull. A good place to go with both family and friends if you want to have a scrumptious traditional meal. The service is good too. Now coming to the food, the thalis are a great option to go be it the non veg or veg. The amount is good given the price and place. I had the chicken thaali as well as veg thaali and was satisfied both the time. The chicken curry is one of the best dishes available there. Also I tried the smoked chicken. The taste was good but one problem was that 2 pieces were just bones. The pigeon fry tasted great, they say they give one complete pigeon but seeing the amount of onions and the pigeon pieces, I doubt that.
Overall it's a good experience but another thing was that the last time I visited there were a lot of mosquitos present for company.
Bhargav Gogoi
I ordered the Special pork Thali and I must admit I did not expect to see five dishes of pork in it. It was way more than just a mouthful, and it was really good to have food that was worth my money. The service here is good too because despite its usual rush, food was served quickly. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Aayush Sinha
Being a foodie i like to try the traditional dishes of various states and this restaurant delivers that perfectly. The preparation is amazing you will get the pure traditional dishes in your pallets.
Also, the ambience is good the taste was obviously great.
A good place to try.

Went for dinner today was so much distressed after the food was served.. we had ordered 4 veg thali no doubt the staffs and service was like before(nice) but the taste of food since last year we went I will give it a big 0. I asked whether some of the items in the thali was made for lunch and served in dinner or not. Paid 800 Rupees just waste of it...will never visit again..
Maria Mathew
Simple tasty food. Looked hygienic. We ordered veg thalis, which had potatoes three ways, two kinds of dal and a pumpkin subzi. I enjoyed it more than the non veg thalis a couple of others had ordered. The non veg versions are a little overpriced I'd say. A good place to savor Assamese cuisine nevertheless.
Deepjyoti Jorn
Ordered food from swiggy amd must say the food is awesome here...they send the food early too.. Been there a lot of tym some years ago but because of the parking problem stopped visiting.. Now that it is online.. I recommend u must try the dishes. They are currently giving 50% off over online delivery 😋

Ordered sumptuous veg meal from swiggy which is newly launched in guwahati, awesome service awesome food. Authentic Assamese cuisine , the meal includes joha rice, yellow dal, black dal, aloo pitika( mashed potatoes), khar(prepared with raw papaya, vegetables, pulses ), green herbs, vegetable fried, kheer. Would love to visit this place soon.

Today, i tried Gam's delicacy's 'paatot diya chicken' and i loved it. Recipe is quite good, i can feel it. I definitely recommend this dish with joha rice. Happy food haunting😉

So i have been to this place a lot of times. Firstly they serve a clear soup which is tasty. Then i ordered a pork thali which had different pork dishes. They were really tasty. I also ordered a pork khorika whivh was good as well. But what i love tge most is the payokh or kheer that we get with the thali.
Asha Kiran Brahma
I had been to this place...n we had ordered Banana flower with chicken and banana leaf with chicken.... Believe me these two items were so mouth watering ...highly recommended....never had such items b4
Nabamalika Joardar
Amazing food! Excellent presentation. Polite service. The food is a veritable explosion of authentic Assamese taste in your mouth. Highly recommend!
Hungry Panda
Love the Assamese thali served in the bell metal plate-kaah'or kaahi. Authentic Axomiya ekhaj. The appatizer coriander soup is so delicious and the paayokh in the end objectifies the statement we know ,all is well that ends well. I have tried the chicken pork and fish khorika and all are fabulous. A good meal can cost your pockets out there but once in a while it's worth it.
Prangan Duarah
Ah! My favourite place. One of the best place to have Assamese ethnic food in Guwahati (probably in Assam 😋, I am not sure). A must visit place if you want to taste mouthwatering Assamese delicacy.
My favourite combination: Joha chaul r bhat ( Joha rice), Mati dail ( black lentil) and hahor manokho r fry (duck fry).
Pradhan Alice
Very good restaurant. Food is excellent. We tried chicken fry and it was best. Aloo bhaji was very good and unique. Rice and Dal quantity was very good. 1 rice served 2 and my 5 year kid also had in it. Aloo pitika was very average. Enjoyed the meal to the fullest
Arnab Gogoi
A decent place to have your food with your family, friends etc.etc.The place is very spacious, the staff is good.Nice, cool and calm environment inside the restaurant. The food they serve is really very good. The price of the food items are little bit expensive if you compare it with restaurants like Khorikaa or Mising Kitchen.
Overall a very good experience in Gam's Delicacy.
Kanchan Prajapati
First encounter with Assamese or NE food , and luckily i choose better place.

Place is nice, warmth, clean with comfortable seating. this place is jam for non vegetarian who can try anything pigon/duck/pork.

Service is fast and they do serve veg clear soup complimentry.Portion size is gud for two people.
They do serve variety of Thalis like veg thali/chicken/fish thali.

A la carte is bit on higher side, better to go for Thali.

I choose to go for A la carte ordered chicken curry with bamboo shoot, Mutton curry with aloo and joha rice (plain Rice).Food taste is gud. their accompaniments is also yum.

Suggestion- Try Thali then go for A la carte.
Amit Tripathy
Excellent introduction to Assamese cuisine.... unique to the local preparation.... go for veg thali accompanied with non veg dish... had pigeon pepper curry , chicken in banana flower curry , and Ari fish..... Amazing. Big hygienic setting and absolutely helpful staff.... bon apetite.... Shillong beckons...

A Great Place to have Good Home Like Assamese Thali in Guwahati. Simple but Good ambience amd Good Food. Had the Chicken Thali which has multiple starters and main course of Chicken, each with unique flavors & taste. However, Slow and unresponsive Service is a let down.

Service: 3.5/5
Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5

In my opinion Best place to have Assamese Thali in Guwahati.
Ashif Bepari
As a true blue Axomiya, an Assamese thali never fails to excite and entice me!

All the portions were generous and we couldn't complain about one single dish! And in the end, if we get betel nuts and betel leaf's just enormous!

Great service! Keep it up! 👍✌
Digdarshika Thakuria
It's home away from home♥️
The veg thali instantly takes you to one's home. I meant an Assamese home. Because that's what is Ghar ka khana in a restaurant. Simply loveeeeeeee their veg thali for Rs. 190. The other fish, pork, chicken thalis are quite overpriced I feel but their taste and ambience makes up to it. Do try out the other dishes especially try their chicken with banana flower. Its so yumm. Typically axomiya♥️♥️ their khorika porks and chicken is to die for. And that duck and pigeon. Mamma Mia! I am not a fish fan so no idea about their fish items but undoubtedly that will be good too.
Service is fast. Hospitality is ambient and warm. Seat capacity is large so no problem of waiting out.
A MUST GO for typical AXOMIYA AHAR.
Lipika Boruah
Situated in Ganeshguri this place is famous for its ethnic cuisines. The place seems to be really a sought-after place particularly during the lunch time. We had the chicken thali; a bit pricey but then it's worth every penny. Although not an ethnic food lover but maybe because of the different varieties of chicken they served, I managed to complete my whole thali🤣
P.S. I would definitely recommend it to others as well...😍
Shyamantak Choudhury
If one looking for authentic Assamese food, this is the place. They have a very large restaurant next to highway, it's a must visit. Food quality/taste bets the best.

This was not our first meal at this place and it had always been satisfactory. The food and service has been consistent so far. Today I had taken my son whose is visiting us for an authentic assamese experience and it was totally disappointing. The chitol fish they served was stale that had expired its frozen date so it tasted like wood. The charge per plate is exorbitant, the least the waiter could have done was to suggest something else considering that there were four of us and the price would be high. For a restaurant to retain the loyalty of the customers the management should see to it that they have a trained and courteous staff who can guide the selection of menu. I don't know if I would recommend this place to anyone anymore. Sad that my son and brother returned with distaste in their mouths and I felt totally let down.
Vrishali
My second take on the Assamese thali and as expected did not disappoint. Ordered the fish thali at Gam’s Delicacy. Wish I hadn’t forgotten to taken a pic of the menu, so I remembered what I actually ate :(.

The fish gravy dishes from the thali were really good. Couldn’t really manage to eat the fish preparation (pictured below) - probably cuz of the eyes staring at me. LOVED the Joha rice! (Assam is apparently the largest cultivator of this rice - source: Wikipedia). Overall, a satisfying food experience.

Service left a bit to be desired. Not sure if it was my inability to communicate in the local language, but would have liked the server to be more informative about the dishes and that I did not have to depend on google for giving me my answers.
Manash Borah
One of the Original Traditional Food Resturant ... Pork lovers to Traditional food lovers have high expectations .Have to Work Harder to keep the Old Fame .
Sonal Sahu
Situated in first floor famous for its ethnic Assamese cuisine delicacy...the food really tastes good ..but don’t expect to get same taste every time don’t know the reason but their food is good ..loved their thali..and the Payas is yum! Almost tried every of the items...staff is untrained and unprofessional else would have given 4 star rating
Dennis Brooklyn
One of my favorite place, whenever i feel trying assamese thali. From decor to the mouth watering dishes, well behaved staff, environment everything is fine and beautifully presentable. The non veg items whether its pork with bamboo shoot or koldil added recipes, the fish items to the maati mahor curry, i have always been a fan of this ethnic resturant.
Mrunal
If one wants to have authentic Assamese Thali, this is one of the places in Guwahati to be. Clear soup served before the Thali is superb. The looks of the Bamboo all around and the smell of the bamboo shoots create right setting. Thali is so reasonable costwise that one can chose to have frequent meals here if it demands; it looks pretty healthy and hygienic. It is a good place for family to do outings or for working people to take their official guests to. The curry with Ilish is must have.
Ketan Roy
One of the best places to have traditional Assamese cuisine!!Tried the duck and pigeon curry!!Truly lip smacking delicious!!The restaurant truly justifies its Name!!A must visit place in one's Guwahati itinerary.
Ameya Kunte
We had vegetarian Asamese Thali here and liked the taste of the food. The service was excellent especially the waiter who served us was very courteous. Veg Thali is limited and they allowed us to share the food . The thali (Rs 175) and other food is expensive. We didn’t mind it since wanted to try local food and didn’t have much time to go away from Ganeshgudi market where this restaurant is located.
Tejas Nadagouda
Excellent Northeast thalis. Clean and spacious. I had the chicken Thali and my wife had veg thali. Both were very tasty and wide spread. They also have fish and pork thalis that I couldn't try
Anish Raj Kalita
If anybody visiting Guwahati wants to taste the ethnic food of Assam, delicacy resturant is a must. One can taste a variety of traditional dishes.

Whenever I visit Assam I love to search for good restaurants that serves quality authentic Assamese food..had lunch today in this place..heard about Gam's Delicacy for many years...but didn't got chance to visit this place... truly said.. taste of the food is ok ok type...it could be more better...though ambience looks good but we exhausted because of the AC( i don't know whether the central AC was working or not)...when it comes on hospitality...a biggggg zero...the boy who served us food was full of attitude...truly disgusting... The management should give importance on their hospitality...food price is overpriced plus tax.. If you are in Guwahati you can find better option than this restaurant...personally I don't want to suggest others to visit this place...I am quite sure you will find better option than this... SORRY
Luna Baruah
The ambiance and food is really tasty.. we ordered for a veg thalli and it was filling and the taste was good. The price is reasonable I felt but unfortunately my mother in law fell down from the bench as the seat was broken. I insist management to take care of there furnitures so that it doesn't repeat again with someone else. But the appreciating part is that they serve an extra plate of meal to the kid who was also a part of our lunch without any extra cost.

Ambience- 5
Service- 5
Food- awesome (awesome-r if somebody treats you :) ). Doesn't look like much from outside, but quite spacious from inside. Despite being immediately adjacent to a road that sees a lot of traffic, it's relatively quiet inside. Smoked pork is to die for. A must go
Arpita Choudhury
One of my favourite places to have some nice Assamese dishes. The thali's are very good. Very well presented. Service is anticipatory. The décor is well n maintained. Quality of food is uncompromised with. The best was the payasm at the end. It was the cherry on the top.
Rajneeta Bhuyan
Ordered veg thali and chicken dry fry. Thali was as expected, good.
But the chicken dry fry wasn't tasty enough.
Otherwise, ambience is awesome.
Parijat Saikia
Man...!!! I had so much expectations..and what I got...! Staffs are good though..food veg thali I had ...do they realise they representing Assamese food and so DULL!!! Only thing I liked the kheer with this thali. They can improve those items with thali I recommend.
Tina_assam
Pathetic food! The veg thali costs 175 bucks. With the taxes it costs around 200. Pathetic food at such price. I would be stringent to pay even a 100, not heading to the place again. Management please look into what's going out from the counter. Or the diminishing footfall will reduce to zero footfall soon.

today i want to Gams delicay ganeshguri outlet with my friends from delhi to make them understand what assam cousine is. but m dis appointed by the service they showed, my friends were veg so i asked for some Assamese veg dishes but none is available with them. i searched for banana flowers, ou tenga, green hearb like that only, then they said in the name of veg they only have veg thali. at last i ordered that thinking of some good delicious food, but the food they bring is cold not at all hot feeling like it has been served long before even the baigan pakoda is chill. i fell ashamed in front of my friends they are just viewing the food what it is. after that i call the waiter and asked to call the manager but the manager don't bother to come he attended me after 15 minutes, when i asked him why there is delayed in attending the guest he told he has visited the kitchen to check before he comes to me. after that he began to blame me only and said m sending hot pakoda and dal. which is not that hot. after that to hide there sin they tried to give me 10% discount which i refuse to take. the whole story m writing here so that before taking any outsider to the hotel one should think thrice or rather i suggest not to take there. this hotels only give priority to nonveg dishes than why to keep veg simply they should write we don't server hot and veg dishes.

It is the best food I've ever had in last one year. Each authentic Assamese and North East mouth watering dishes I would like to taste them once again.

If you are born a Veg you'll regret because there's something called Chicken Pato Diya which you'll terribly miss!!
Nabanita Talukdar
If you want to taste pure Assamese cuisine then go for it . Their thali is good. Chicken tastes awesome. Staff is friendly too. Ambience is nice. But no parking space available.

Been to this place on many occasions. They serve nice Assamese thali, with traditional Assamese preparation. Since I am pork lover , I had tried Pork Fry and it was amazing...... Apart from pork they also have various local fish, duck and chicken preparation. Must visit.....

If you are looking for a complete Assamese wholesome meal, you should definitely visit this place.
Avoid going on weekends cause you definitely need to wait for long to get a seat.
I tried the thaalis- Chicken and pork. And trust me, there won't be any space left in you stomach. The food is worth the money you pay.

I ordered an extra item- "Patot Dia Maas" and to be honest it was not upto my Expectations. It tasted bitter 😑

Overall, thumbs-up 👍 to the place. The staffs are good and well-behaved. You don't need to wait much for your order. And you actually get the true taste of Assamese Delicacy 👌
Mrinalini Pandit
Lovely chicken and pork Assamese thalis. Khar is awesome as is the payasam. Friendly waiters. Fish curry was light as was the steamed pork and chicken.
Sankar Upadhyaya
Poor food in high price with almost no hospitality. It was good earlier.. it's my almost 5th time and same thing repeated. Better to visit Mising Kitchen. .

Worse experience with, booked meal thorough cleartrip, but they were so reluctant about the booking so that cleartip was bound to cancel the order

For the first time I m feeling short of words. The restaurant itself is a heaven for food lovers. Everything is perfect about this restaurant, the food, the ambience, the service. We ordered boiled pork with veggies, pork dry fry, pork with potato, small fish khorika and chicken in bamboo shoot. We were amazed after tasting the boiled pork. Nobody could believe that boiled pork can be so awesome. The pieces were of bite size and filled with juices. The meat almost melted in our mouth. The other dishes were also great. And the best part is we did not feel overfull after eating so much. Left the place with a feeling of total satisfaction with the hope of visiting it soon.
Will rate it as follows -
Food 4/5
Ambiance 5/5
Service 4/5
Price 3/5

PS - Food are a bit overpriced
Maina
went there with my family during durga puja..we ordered assamese thali along with one mutton curry and one local chicken curry which was average in taste. another dishes was average. price was a little high..they also gave 'payokh' along with the assamese thali which was tasty 👍
Karan Jaidka
We were looking for an authentic North Eastern/Assamese cuisine place and Gam's Delicacy popped up in our list and we weren't disappointed.

The decor is very nice, especially in the evenings. The staff is courteous, though service times are slightly on the longer side. Being vegetarian on the day, I ordered the 'Sumptuous Veg. Meal' which was wonderful. It had soo many items, including two varieties of dal, green herbs, fried vegetables, khar, pitika and kheer, all cooked the traditional Assamese way, one better than the other. In the end, it was difficult to finish, but I managed somehow and was stuffed. The restaurant is a non-vegetarian delight, with great fish and pork. Go there for authentic Assamese-style fish and pork. Servings are generous and you will not return disappointed.

Excellent place for north eastern cuisine...had Assamese cuisine here a couple of times, although they also serve cuisine from other ne states ...stumbled upon it on zomato.
Ambience is excellent for a quute meal. Decor is pretty ethnic. Service is pretty good and fast...waiters know abt their food and can make good suggestions. I especially liked the way they serve their food in brass utensils.
Coming to good... Not much variety for vegetarians here...just a veg thali and some other dishes on order.
For non vegetarians uts a paradise. Had duck, fish, mutton and chicken here on different occasions here...all made to.perfection...a must visit if u r in guwahati

Though I am not much into ethnic Assamese cuisine ( reason being I am an Assamese and mostly I resort to homemade items). Me along with my colleagues happen to visit this restaurant for lunch and I was damn impressed by almost everything they had to offer. This place is one of the oldest joint in its locality and their food is really awesome. A pretty neat and tidy place, this joint offers Nagamese and Manipuri dishes too. They have their see-through BBQ oven where you can actually see them preparing your mouth watering smoked items. Their Thalis are generous and I am sure a second serving virtually becomes difficult. We ordered veg thalis , chicken with sesame seeds and Chitol in mustard paste. I had a very satisfying lunch that day. Service is really good and the staffs are more than happy to guide you through. Next visit I am taking my parents there, m sure they will love the food. Price wise they are OK i guess.

No trip to Assam should be complete without this. Here you can eat till you're fed up with food. Had the veg thali with chicken cooked with with banana flower. Loved the traditional presence of food and the décor. Do yourself a favor and eat here

This is your ideal place of Assamese cuisine and to eat food till your neck. We were two people and we ordered for two veg thalis, a chicken curry and a fish tenga. And thank god, we didn't order any more. The taste was pure oxomiya and that fish piece was so big, even two of us had a tough time finishing it. The chicken koldil was delightful, and I liked the little bowls of everything, the payokh needs a special mention. The service is very prompt and the ambiance is quite nice.

A good place for authentic non veg dishes. The veg fried rice is not very yummy. However, pork chilli and pork in bamboo shoot is good and delicious. Besides, the ambience is okkish alongside the price of the items on the menu. For two people, a sumptuous meal will cost around 700-800 bucks.

Nice Assamese thalis out here, also the ambience is good. One can try various types of Chicken Mutton duck also various types of fishes. The utensils they use are also traditional Assamese style.. If you want to try Assamese thali this is the best place.. The smoked meat is also famous in guwahati.. It's tasty out here.. Must try..

I always wanted to have a proper authentic assamese food. So this time during puja i along with my family went there. The place has a nice old school charm around it and the decor is kept as traditional as it could be. The staff is very polite. We ordered thali which consist of joha rice, aloo pitika, khaar, dal, black dal, veg fry and a veg curry. As an add on we took chicken curry with palong which was suggested by the guy who took the order. The food was awesome.
Nothing great. Fishes were unimpressive, as were the chicken dishes. Duck curry was awesome and the only reason id go back here. Service too was slow and price, a bit too high on my opinion.

Gam's Delicacy Restaurant located at Ganeshguri is an amazing place for typical taste of Assam. Assamese food tastes real best and it's a blend of various ways, techniques, ideas, flavours ofcourse and the overall presentation with traditonal factors.
Delicacy has made it possible in all ways.
Serving you great Assamese delights this place is a must visit.

Ambience is perfect and it's really a fabulous place for family and friends. Parties and get togethers would also rock for this place if you want Assamese food. Staff is quite good with skilled factors. Service is fast and presentable. Behaviour is impressive .
Place is super clean and hygenic.
Range: It's a pocket friendly place with fantastic taste. It serves you best not making a hole in your pocket .
What to order ? If you are in Gam's delicacy the best one to opt for is the thali consisting of joha rice, yellow dal, black dal, khar, vegetables and herbs, vegetables fry , Alu pitika and lastly the yummy kheer(paayoh)
.. Now for non veg one should surely try for the best indeed pigeon with black pepper, chicken with til(sesame seeds) , fried duck😋 , mash pura and the pork bamboo shoot...

Overall a big 👍to this tremendous place... !

The food is good, staffs too.. Except those sitting behind the counter. They don't even know how to talk to the customers. God know how the hell those female receptionists got this job.

Good food, good staff, serving time less than 5 minutes. Value for money. Though it it not visible among the crowds but you will feel at home being there. Coming to the main part food is good but I will not call it the best. Being there will never unhappy and will not make you purse lose.

I had chicken with sesame seeds and chicken with bamboo shoot last time I visited along with non vegetarian thali. It was great. Simple with a variety of Assamese cuisine. If you have a thing for Assamese thali then this is definitely a must visit

The best of all authentic assamese restaurants serving traditional assamese cusine..yes undoubtedly delicacy seems to be the best..and any visit to guwahati is incomplete if you dont enjoy a traditional assamese meal serving indegenious mix of authentic and traditional recipes..as poulty and river water fish are staple food by the assamese culinary dictionary,so primarily you will be exposed to a whole array of meat and poulty dishes apart from varied types of river water fishes..rohu(rou maas) ,katla, ilish ,aari maas apart from chicken ,pork, mutton, pegion and duck meat ruling the menu..of course there is an avalance of restaurants now a days offering assamese cusine but by far delicacy seems to be the most authentitally rooted one, onviously with the developement of the state economy as more and more non assamese people are visiting north east and primarily guwahati either for work business or pleasure it makes sense for the proliferation of these restaurants..hence this review is actually intented to a non assamese person who is probably unaware about assamese cusine...
In terms of ambience it is beautifull decored in simplicity signifying the simplicity of assamese lifestly and culture..without any ostentious show of glamour you are welcomed to a big standing xorai and japis that are adorned with the traditional gamusas(assamese handwoven stole)..the seating is rather simple and service quick..now on the food, it has a wide varied menu divided into different poultry dishes..either chicken or duck or mutton or pork, each variety at least has 10 dishes to their name, my fav being the pegion and duck recipes..for eg pegion meat with black pepper(jaluk diya paro mangsho), pegion with banana flower, duck with black gram dal, duck with kumura or ash gourd, chicken with papaya or black pepper or bamboo shoot..similarly fish with ou tenga, with bilahi tenga, with lauki and so on.. the meal starts with a beautiiful tangy soup that is just the beginning of a fine dining experience..all the dishes are served in traditional assamese brass(kaah baati) utentils which just reminds me of my granny's house where as kids we were served only in brass vessels..ideally one should take a veg thali and call for a specific non veg dish whatever you wish for..that serves your purpose for the quantity is humungous..the veg thali has typical dishes like aloo pitika( mashed potatoes), omitar khaar( a very specific dish of assamese culture made with raw papaya and a concotation of burnt banana leaves that gives a flvour of baking soda, not exactly though but best explained this way) and another mixed subji..authentically rooted to the culture, these may or may not suit your taste buds although for an assamese it ss the best veg food that suits the taste bud of an assamese..assamese food is a tad bland without spices hence i know there are a few who may not quite like it..but for those guys, it would perhaps be an aquired taste..if you dont like the taste, please dont blame the restaurant with a feedback saying its not nice..coz ;trust me, that is the best assamese food that you will get..it is as authentic as my mother or anybody's mother cooks at home..or maybe exactly the way i cook up an assamese meal..that is exactly how it is supposed to be..every state has its own cuisine and we may or may not like the taste however that doesnt mean their food is not appealing..so for all you guys who think otherwise, delicacy offers you the best..and for the non vegetarian guys it is a dream..with a wide variety to choose from you wouldnt know what to devour..pegion meat is a delicacy, and my favourite since childhood..whenever i am in guwahati i make sure i have my pegion in black pepper at delicacy..so is duck with black gram dal(haah aru mati maah)..so uninitiad and never tasted kind of non vegetarian diahes for the non assamese clan..in fact my suggestion would be to give the chicken a pass and try perhaps the duck or pegion receipes for a new unattempted taste .all dishes come with plain white rice and not to miss the kazi nemu(a type of lime).most importantly since assamese food is devoid of spices, cream or ghee you would'nt feel heavy even after a huge meal..you end the meal with the traditional tamul paan and sauf (betel nut and leaf) that's beautifully offered in a bota (a heightened plate kind of an utensil that is used to offer the same,).. the only suggestion that i can perhaps recommend is the inclusion of rotis in the menu which is missing..assamese people by culture are rice eaters and their food is reliahed only with rice or rather the taste of any item is enhanced only through rice and dal..but then today with impending health hazzards leading to the non inclusion of carbs in your diet, a lot of us prefer rotis and so is the case with non assamese people who might prefer rotis to tice. So maybe phulkas as a part of the menu might offer increased pleasure to non rice eaters..otherwise , a perfect place to experience an assamese thali. Definetely worth trying out.

It's the place where you go when you think the food cooked at your place is not authenticly assamese and our moms are too tired too cook it( except it's your birthday or someone else's in your family). The whole place have got a good assamese vibe.

Ah! Delicacy. It serves up to its name.

There are a number of authentic Assamese cuisine restaurants in the city. The number is still increasing, but Gam's Delicacy Restaurant wins my heart. The moment you enter the premises of the place, the feel that 'Idhar toh authentic khaana milega ch milega' loads in your mind.
The attendants are dressed in Muga shirts which make them look more like the managerial crew of the place. The food and the drinks are served in traditional Assamese brass utensils and that itself quenches your long lasting desire of having 'ekhaaj'.

We ordered a VEG THALI that comprises of the following-

1. Joha Rice - A variety of rice grown in India, notable for its aroma, delicate and excellent taste. Assam is the largest cultivator of this rice.

2. Assamese Dal - Usually cooked with yellow Masoor & Arhar Dal, this dal is low on carbs and high on taste.

3. Mati Dal - This dal is cooked with split black gram and a little Khar (the traditional Assamese dish made with extracts of roasted banana peel)

4. Aloo Bhindi Dry Fry - Cooked only with cumin powder as an additive besides salt and turmeric, this dry fry goes hand in hand with the dal.

5. Green Herbs Fry- This featured green leafy vegetables fried with onion and green chillies which tasted like heaven.

6. Pitika - This Assamese version of mashed potato is an amusement and a necessity in the assamese thali.

7. Khar- No Assamese thali gets complete without Khar accompanying it.

8. Kheer- Well, it is kheer. Everyone loves kheer, especially when it has my favorite cashew and raisins in it with a bay leaf taste to it.

We also ordered CHICKEN w BANANA FLOWER as our non vegetarian alter ego did not let us free. This one dish made me fall in love with the place all over again. This recipe usually found in the kitchens of our grandmothers from the remote villages is a rarity to find.

Overall-
Food- 4.5/5
Ambiance- 4/5
Service- 4.5/5

Delicacy, keep up. We shall keep coming.
